I am from Brazil, moved to Canada 9 years ago, now I am Canadian citizen. I was once asked by a American colleague why did I not immigrated to the USA, the answer is: it was not even in the list of possible countries. In fact it is on my top list of places not to move to. \n\nYou have a good insurance through your job? That only means you have one more reason to fear losing it or stay on a particularly bad one if you don’t have anything lined up, if you have a chronic health condition, then you are straight out hostage to your employer. Even if you do have good insurance your bills may one day go beyond the maximum and you still risk bankruptcy. \n\nIf you do go bankrupt, in any civilized country you can’t go to jail for debt, in the USA you can, the country with the highest incarcerated population in the world in absolute numbers and relative too. To add salt to the injury it is a country that did not completely make slave work illegal, it is still legal if you are not a free citizen and your prison system exploit that.\n\nSo it is a country that you can become slave because you got sick.\n\nThen there are the guns… the fact you think you are exempt of school shootings says it all, if you live in a small city it would not affect you? Are you really saying mass shootings never occur in small cities?! This is an excerpt:\n\n“The massacre that killed 10 people at a high school in Texas last week was just the latest to happen in a small or suburban city. Of the 10 deadliest school shootings in the U.S., all but one took place in a town with fewer than 75,000 residents and the vast majority of them were in cities with fewer than 50,000 people.”\n\nIt is all part of the gun culture, the absurd of making guns easily available and viewing guns as toys, a culture were people think taking your life is a proportional response to trespassing. \n\nIt is all closely tied with all the warmongering you are ok with all the taxes you pay going to your military to kill people outside your country yet you take exception in using a fraction of that to save your own citizens lives.\n\nIt is a place which put low value in the human life and well being, favour punishment instead of prevention and rehabilitation, keeps most of its population in a constant sense of despair and helplessness…\n\nIt is no wonder the USA has the highest number of psychopaths(over than 3000 versus the second next at 166), have kids going nuts and shooting others at school.\n\nIt is not a sane culture, it is not a good place to live and if you are well informed you won’t.

First I feel for these people. They want to live in the greatest country in the world. Because of the current president we are in a bad situation where he has made it hard for the citizens that where born here to make a living let alone any new immigrants.\nOur military needs to protect our borders as they do in other countries and any illegal immigrants needs to be deported back to their country and do it the right way it’s an act of terrorism to invade our country the economic strain that it puts on the US is enormous like a bleeding artery that you can’t get tied off. Instead of trying to change our country and ruin it they should put that effort into fixing their own. We need to fix our country first. It would take no less than 5 years of no entry to fix ours at the rate they have been pouring in our own infrastructure can’t handle the influx of people. Mr. President I beg you save our country before you destroy it quite trying to be everyone’s friend be as a president should a leader and protector of the greatest country in the world. Please stop destroying it and disrespecting those that came before you.

I see this done a lot but there's a big difference between correlation and causation. Your Rbc example shows the top people all white, including women I may add. It's very ingenuous to claim racism based purely on who has risen to the top. Would you call the NBA racist because blacks overwhelmingly are represented or did they get there because they were the best? It's really exhausting having to correct leftist talking points based on nothing.\nThis is the problem today, racism is used so much that it's become little more than name calling because people, usually on the left, call anyone they disagree with racist.\nYou dislike illegal immigration? Racist. You can be pro lawful immigration but have the wrong opinion and your a racist.\nHate crimes? These are incredibly rare and are often skewed politically, largely for reasons I just explained but if an indigenous man assaults an Asian lady, it's less likely to be labeled a hate crime as, say a white male doing the exact same.\nNot so common here but in the US, there are numerous examples of blacks assaulting Asians and orthodox jews and the media will cleverly imply it's whites by saying white supremacy is on the rise, then give the stats on hate crimes, most of which were not committed by whites. It's this kind of media manipulation that creates an inaccurate impression.\nNow, for the indigenous, yes, there is systemic racism. We have an entire governmental system treating natives differently with reserves, different taxes, hunting rights etc by definition it's systemically racist although many are a benefit.\nI also agree with your comment on Quebec with it's strong almost nationalist attitudes towards maintaining it's French heritage at the expense of individual rights.\n, please don't label someone or an organization as racist just because a bunch of white people occupy top positions without evidence that racism was the cause when it could just be they were the best candidates. Is it not best to not always assume the absolute worst before coming to a conclusion? It's like our legal system based on a biblical tale of choosing to let a 100 guilty go free than condemn a single innocent man. A founding principle to modern western countries that should apply here.\nBeing racist is a serious and nasty accusation that should be thrown only when it's established. I don't call someone a child killer just because I disagree with their politics and to do so is an a front to genuine victims. \nI'd argue Canada is one of the least racist nations on Earth. Name a country, you think is LESS racist, I'm curious, what would you suggest? I would counter that racism or xenophobia is far more common in non western countries.\nI would suggest countries in Asia, Africa and others with less multicultural populations harbor more racist sentiment towards other races. Visit Japan, very xenophobic but no one dares call them racist because it doesn't promote the leftist stereotype of white man racism.\nThere's a reason you never saw racism but had to be lectured by holier than thou self flagulating liberals about the scourge of racism, it's mostly a fabrication. These same people can never give a factual example beyond what you provide with the Rbc example. While immigrants are needed, massive illegal immigration would be destabilizing long-term. Legal immigration. Otherwise, why have visas? I feel bad for them, but there is also desperation in the US.

If we think it’s bad here in the USA, just imagine how MUCH WORSE it is in their own country, for them to want to come to the U.S. so desperately. What I’ve witnessed, is that immigrants cherish the USA more than U.S. Citizens! WE TAKE SO MUCH FOR GRANTED HERE, and most are not even happy!

The health of a country, or the health of an individual which are clearly linked, is dependent on our ability to see ourselves and each other, and make necessary changes to improve in the areas that we lack personally, and as communities in our beautiful country of Canada and other countries as well. What matters is sharing our own thoughts, feelings, and experiences because they aren’t debatable. \n\nWe are in violation of Multiple Human Rights violations against Inuit , Indigenous and Métis people by the United Nations. Most have no water to drink—not even boiled water and bottled water is available sometimes when it’s brought to reservations . Children don’t have the same access to books. So many thousands of bodies of children taken to residential schools from their parents arms and community for over 160 years yet the deep wounds aren’t given compassion by most people anymore and systemic abuse actively impacts them and therefore all of Us . We are all one whether we see people as other’ or not. We’re humans. \n They’re not seen in media unless it’s a bad story yet we’re only now teaching one mandatory class by non indigenous people. Solution: elders teach their grandchildren languages that weren’t erased by genocide and environmental /spiritual cultural practices and lifestyles before they’re gone by paying first people elders and streaming it into all Canadian classrooms so the children can see a future where they’re valued and all Canadian kids can get a full education and learn accurate history. Making canoes, baskets, sacred ceremonies, food growing (that they taught to pilgrims so they’d survive here), etc. No, I’m not indigenous. I’m an immigrant like all but the first people. They’ve an amazing culture that’s been all but lost . When we don’t see ourselves represented in any media, any careers, and start our lives in extended poverty based on our race, and all that was taken still today, it’s no wonder the teen suicide rate for indigenous youth is more than double / triple all non - indigenous youth. The numbers are growing. \nI live in Care due to my physical disabilities . An international nursing student worked for me providing personal care like showers, meal prep etc and over that year, she said she wouldn’t have moved here specifically because of a few things I’ve mentioned. She told me Canada was sold to people in her country of origin as a ‘multicultural’ safe haven without extreme racism still prevalent today and within our history. \n\nI’m ashamed of Canadian government promises for over 100 years that aren’t fulfilled. All children deserve healthy drinking Water and an education. Period. Especially, the ambassadors of this amazing land that they see as themselves without separation. That’s accurate. We will have nothing to stand upon if we don’t protect the earth. It will go on without us. \n\nI see many things in the comments I’ve seen or experienced, unfortunately. This is a beautiful country for so many reasons. It’s important that from such abundance we listen to your video, look at ourselves honestly and i feel, be the change we want to see in the world like Gandhi said.\n\nMuch love and healing from an All inclusive advocate. Racism was very bad in Canada in the 1970s..against European immigrants also..Italians included...Italians are against ALL forms of Racism

Part of me feels bad for them because of all the stories of how bad it is south of the border but the other more realistic part of me knows that a large influx of immigrants like this would be catastrophic to the local housing markets wherever they end up. People cant even really afford housing these days because of how high the rates are now. \n\nFor fresh immigrants like this.... Unless they already had family in the states, they would be living on the streets instead unless they found a place to live.

I’m an independent that usually votes Democrat, but the border should be a nonpartisan issue.\n\nAmerica is not like Europe. European countries are the sizes of states, and they have the European Union to cross govern.\n\nAmerica does not have a relationship with Canada or Mexico like any of the EU countries.\n\nWe cannot be letting this happen. I feel for the people suffering in Mexico, I truly do. Honestly I feel so bad for any immigrant trying to escape the harsh life on the other side, hoping you'll find peace once you leave, it hurts seeing these people, most of them just want a good life, to be able to give that to their kids, Mexico has gone to shit, the rich don't suffer like the rest, they have protection, while the rest have to suffer from idiots who want power, their president doesn't even care about their people, it's horrible, it's not safe for them especially the children, I hope one day they can be happy.

As a Jamaican Canadian I experience some anti-black racism all my life. The worst was at a few workplaces and a couple of visits to Montreal. I live in Toronto and it's here to, but not that bad. the western provinces besides BC are the worst. Quebec and the Atlantic provinces are also bad. My advice to all my brothas and sistahs that want to live in Canada is that you live in the GTA in Ontario. One other thing Do not live in Brampton, or you will be discriminated by another immigrant group which I won't say but some know.

The situation looks bad in Venezuela and I see the desperation in some of these people's faces. At the same time we can't just allow mass imigration like that into the country. There are laws and regulations that need to be followed. If we were to just allow a mass immmigration in like that without properly going through the immigration system there would be chaos to follow. It is also a slap in the face to those who have gone through the proper process and have waited years to get through legally.

I have a valid reason for being pissed off. I was raped at 11 years old by a 21 year old ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT from El Salvador. Know what happened to him NOT A DAMN THING!!!!! Know what happened to me? Well he gave me PID that I didn't know I had & it made it impossible for me to get pregnant the natural way & I lost 3 babies because of it before my OB did minor surgery & then I am still in therapy for it. I have PTSD & social anxiety disorder, OCD, It also made me WAY to overprotective of my daughter to the point she wasn't even allowed to stay the night with friends they had to come here to stay instead. The successive governments have destroyed the base (farming, fishing, forestry & mining) of our economy, plus squandered our tax dollars on building up the bureaucracies, while ignoring infrastructure. Toss on top of that the unfettered immigration of people who then wind up sucking from our tax dollars through welfare. Immigration levels are causing the housing market boom. Colleges are paying the government of the day to keep immigration laws lenient as this would encourage more international students. The result- the quality of people coming in this country has dramatically declined. The healthcare has been hit badly as the wait times can be months. Everyone wants to come to Ontario causing unemployment as immigrants work for less pay and ordinary Canadian can’t afford to work for that less. People keep on buying houses and renting it out and millennial can’t buy houses anymore. I don’t know how will canada feed all of us when AI takes our jobs. \nThe past 5-8 years of Trudeau has ruined my Canada.

I think this video is good overall, but downplays the potential severity of our housing crisis. It's not just a problem for renters. Rapid expansion in finance and real estate are only a good thing if they are backed up by real growth, otherwise it's just a bubble that puts the entire national economy at risk. In Canada, it's got many characteristics of a bubble that will crash during an interest rate rise or economic crisis.\n\nAlso income inequality is not the whole story. Wealth inequality has been rising rapidly in Canada and is made worse by rapidly rising rents and inflation. Owning a home outright or with a smaller mortgage means spending less of your income on housing in Canada's current system, so even at the same income level homeowners are dramatically better off than renters and renters have noticed. It's one thing to point at some graphs of the Gini index and say inequality isn't that bad, but that's not good enough when regular people see homeowners buying fancy cars and taking lavish vacations while renters scrape by.\n\nFurthermore, you pretty much ignored the demographic concerns in Canada. We have an aging population, which means we either need high immigration that worsens the housing crisis or higher taxes to pay for growing healthcare and pension costs. Neither option is good and both paths lead to increases political and economic instability. Demographics is one of the main reasons the OECD has a poor outlook on growth in the long term.

big problem with the housing is also trudeau taking in so many immigrants and refugees before having enough available housing for everybody. I think they were taking in 200k people a year. while we need atleast 1million new houses within the next 10 years in order to supply enough to the population. There was also an issue with forieign purchases where people from other countries were buying houses in canada and nobody living in them. Trudeaus votes comes from majority indian people and arabic since thats a lot of the population in canada, and to win those votes and get more hes friendly with them accepting a lot of immigrants from those countries, its not a bad thing since a lot are very well educated and their peaceful people for the most part, but the problem is there isn't enough housing. Even renting has become competitive , owning is near impossible without help. Trudeau really messed up the country, houses are riduclously expensive and they often go into bidding wars if in a good area, banks interest rates keep going up now, loans are harder to take out, sadly we need to limit the amount of immigrants that come into the country until the right number of houses are built in the country, if anything new and major cities need ot be build in other locations with jobs in order to get more people spread out around the provinces. Once there is enough houses and jobs i believe the doors should be open to whomever wishes to come (obviously with a background check) but until then there should be a limit so the houses stop going up.

They are subtle about it but they will make sure to push right wing narratives like this now - they'll show clips like this which push people into right wing narratives(like saying we need much stronger border control) without any context, exactly as this clip does.\n\n\nThat's not to say immigration isn't, perhaps, a problem - I'm not fully educated on the subject but i will tell you they do a huge number of the jobs Americans essentially refuse to do, like picking fruit for 11 hours a day in the heat and cold. Furthermore, large business owners profit immensely off these people, and a majority of large business owners are Republicans - sure they'll go along with the party line that immigration bad, but they hire these people by the truckload and pay them shit wages, actively and purposely depreciating the wages of American citizens while simultaneously blaming it on nebulous Democrat immigration policies.

I am Haitian American. Trust me, if Haiti was one of the best countries in the world. I would be very angry if a government just open its borders to let every unauthorized person in. I believe in law and order. So I don't look at white Americans as racists or anti immigrants if they stand against this. What's happening is very bad.

If we still had manual labor factories like America used to before companies used poor countries for cheap labor, we could take in a lot of immigrants and be an ultra global super power. China wouldn’t be able to compete. Too bad Chinese people are willing to work slave hours for slave payment?

It makes me happy to see all the comments of legal immigrants to the US who are angered by this. Personally I have no issues with legal immigration from any country and I respect it and I'll break bread with you cuz your an American now like me. I think legal immigrants are a breath of fresh air and we can have some support coming from the Hispanic community against illegal immigration. If Canada had a curropt authoritan government and they were all illegally immigrating here than it'd be them we'd be having these disputes with. Over 300,000 homeless veterans wander the streets searching for food and shelter currently. Dying at an estimated rate of 22 a day due to self inflicted harm….the system in place to take care of them and provide comprehensive medical care is crippled and broken….every SINGLE ONE of these men and women has a head full of bad memories and experiences from defending their country in war (some missing limbs)….can’t hold a job and have trouble finding a job….NOONE is making substantial and reinforced efforts to care for these brave men and women. Yet, if you cross that border illegally you’re given shelter (free stay at 5star hotels in NYC sound nice)…comprehensive medical care…food stamps and even job placement for some. And in some cases, we’re providing that help to individuals who are simply making a pit stop between Mexico and Canada because it’s better for them there according to some. Frankly, we have enough issues that are swallowing us whole and need to focus on building up and caring for our own citizens and force stop mass migration, strongly enforce deportation as well as employing more case workers to help with legal immigration process. We spend all this money sending to Ukraine and yet here we are, cutting our own throats to save someone else’s hand. I have no issue with legal immigration and asylum but you need to go through the process like those before you. I know this is asking a lot but it IS possibly to make it work

This is what the Democratic Party offers everyone, take a good look around. Open borders, taxpayer money going oversees, jobs being given to illegal immigrants over the country’s own citizens, etc. The Democratic Party if fundamentally Anti-American/Constitution, that’s why they want Big Government to have money, power & control over everything! My parents came illegally but became citizens thru the amnesty from Bill Epstein i mean Clinton, i was born here in California, even though i love my Mexican heritage i still think this is wrong, we need more border control but we also need to be able to make it easier for the good people to come here legally. Donald trump was not racist he was speaking the truth alot of these immigrants are bringing drugs over alot of them are bad people who will cause alot of problems over here for us thats why we need a screening process but a better one than we have now because the one we have now is very expensive and takes way too long, we could use the extra labor from people who want to come and actually work. There’s also more Chinese immigrants than mexican so we need to get a hold of that too , but these Central Americans trying to come in the country alot of them are gang members and most of them are poor and have no resources so when they get here they will become gang members and cause problems because they have no structure and thats all they know. Really, illegal immigration is not good, basically you're accepting poverty into your country; why poverty? Well, those who illegally immigrate, most probably don't have any money or job to start with.\n\nWhy is it bad? Because it puts more pressure to those that are already born in the US, it's unfiar, but life is unfair anyways, there is no way to have an equalized world.

I feel bad for the immigrants who are able to get into America. They have no idea that America is about to be judged by God with plagues, bank failure, civil war and martial law, food and water shortages, tyrannical government, mushroom clouds and invasion, earthquakes that cause California to go into the sea. There’s a better way. 30% of those ppl maybe had a opportunity in the US and violated it’s terms and got went back or ran back smh I’m Mexican born in the US and this makes me mad.
