Where I live in B.C the only people ever renting are Asian and they're renting out places for double what they normally are and even renting out single rooms to multiple people to share. This never was an issue when I was a teen and my early 20s. You could find a nice place for 800 dollars including utilities, now its 2000 to 2800 not including utilities or pets.

Hi Febby, stumbled upon your video and wanted to know your experience in Canada. As someone who was born in Canada and left, I wanted to know about some current sentiment, especially by younger people. I think you had some interesting information. I'm actually sad to hear that crime and homelessness has gotten even worse, especially in places like you mentioned, DTES. One thing I want to share with you about the housing issue. Canada acts like a Federation. Meaning that a lot of decision making is delegated to the provincial and municipal level. Yes, Canada has goals for immigration. That's a super valid goal because every developed country is going through declining birth rates. Canada wants to lessen the damage that will be felt by so many other countries like Italy, Germany, China, Japan, etc. The issue with this federated government is like you said, a disconnect between goals and readiness. However, I really feel this will never be accomplishable because of all the lobbying that occurs at the municipal level that the Federal and even Provincial level government cannot control. Yes, there may be shortages in labour to do development, but even then, I really think that lobbying and corruption is keeping adequate supply from being built. From the homeowners and the perspective of the wealthy property owners, they want to keep the valuation of housing high by keeping supply low. Why else is the municipal government keeping such archaic zoning laws? From what I could find, there has been some talk about changing this (https://bc.ctvnews.ca/b-c-to-table-housing-law-targeting-outdated-zoning-rules-1.6627260) but I struggle to see anything really being done. That's probably because of lobbying. The immigration laws set by the government had too many loopholes and flaws ultimately. I don't think we are getting enough productive immigrants. Actually, the opposite seems to occur a lot. The wealthy from the countries I mentioned are abusing the immigration policies in Canada to transfer and preserve their wealth in Canada. I think it has hid in plain sight for a long time, and people have started talked about it in the last 5-10 years because of the struggles of housing affordability from the middle class. What about the immigrants that really want to start a life in Canada and find opportunities like you said? The housing is too expensive for them to do that. Really chicken and egg problem like you mentioned. And this issue can't readily be fixed with the way Canadian government operates. Look forward to hearing your thoughts. I hope you make an update video in the future.

The whole idea of a food desert is so alien to me. I have never been in a town where you could not buy actual groceries. And it is not just that fast food is everywhere, but the servings are just stupid! \nI agree with the flight costs, but it makes sense when you have only 40 million people in the second biggest country on earth, 90% of which is wilderness. There are not enough people to share the cost. \nI love that our politics is boring. The result is that government can actually govern.

It js not their land. It was stolen from the Jews in the first place. Pretty simple. However, the Jews are willing to share it, not the Palestinians don’t want to. They put themselves into this position and are now crying the victim. Grow up

As a child from Northen Europe ?? I remember when my grandmother told me about our distant relatives living in Canada ( due to war) and how powerful, rich and fair country this is and that everyone has good life there. Now, 25-30yrs later everything has changed. Big part of Europe and Northern-America aren’t the same anymore due to mass immigration. Even my own country with only 1,3 million population ( Estonian 69.1%, Russian 23.7%, Ukrainians etc). We have taken in quite a lot ukrainian war refugees, who atleast share the same values as we do. But I still see a lot of people in the street wearing burkas and our demographic is changing. People need to stand up for theirselves and protect their countries heritage and culture or otherwise there won’t be anything left for our children. My parents/ elders fought for their right to become free country and Estonia took back it’s independence in 1991.

It’s kind of crazy how Egypt will not except a single refugee from Gaza despite sharing a land border. Instead, they don’t except immigrants who are only trying to stay for a little bit, and they just blame it on Israel.

I can't even get an BEDROOM for less that $1500 in Canada and I must share with someone else.\n\nI have to be either Muslim, Punjabi or Punjabi Female or Boy to get a place.\n\nThey own everything, we can't get jobs, we can't get apartments, they take all the food from food banks and never donate. They use all our resources and disregard health laws. They leave trash everywhere and don't shower. They don't follow traffic laws or any laws. They constantly touch our women in appropriately and the top 50 people on the Canadas most wanted list are all immigrants!\n\nThen they complain when they are homeless and try to sue our government, they try to change laws to Sharia, they sing our anthem in Punjabi.\n\nThey need to go, if push come to shove. We won't lose. 1 of us is 5 of them.

Thank you for sharing such an amazing video, much needed to understand how the system and culture works and what is the current situation \nThank you once again

Some of the data shared is incorrect. For example you dont need 190k salary for mortgage. Even someone with an average income of 60k can own a home. Housing crisis is in major cities like Toronto, Vancouver the same like we see super expensive housing in Mumbai for example. \n\nPregnant lady does not have to wait for 30 weeks. That is completely incorrect. \n\nThe drug problem and the images that you share is from Vancouver which you mentioned already but that is not the case you see in Ontario, Alberta or any other province. Its like how Punjab has drug problem but it doesnt mean that Gujarat is the same when it comes to drugs. \n\nThe protests currently happening around deportation is also due to the fact that so many students from India were scammed by an Indian agent who sent them to Canada on fake admission letters. Those students were not enrolled in any colleges and came to Canada on fake documents. \n\nI agree that Canada is very difficult for immigrants to come and build at this point. This wasnt the case 10 years back. But this is true to only densely populated cities. Everyone wants to go to Toronto and Vancouver so it has made the situation tough in those cities. But there are other provinces and cities that are still easy to settle down and build your life. \n\nCanadian locals being not immigrant friendly is not whole truth. Some % of locals yes they are fed up of too much immigration but do search for videos or news article of Indian students in Brampton fighting and you will get the answer on why some of the Canadian locals are being wary about immigrants now a days. \n\nIt is hard to settle down in Canada yes. For someone who is having a decent salary in India can live a good life in India instead of choosing to struggle. But someone are made to chose the hard path to success.

few points are absolutely wrong-\nCanada provides one time post graduation work permit(PGWP) only once after completion of study..They never promised to any international students to give PR or Citizenship but Canada gives you time to establish your comprehensive ranking score in order to get the permanent residency but these students who are protesting could not fit in that criteria, Thats why they are looking for the extension in their work permits which makes no sense actually.A fun fact a lot students can't talk in English here bcuz they hardly study or learn some skill. Your language proficiency is one of the main criteria to get jobs and later to get your PR here.\nCanada didnt promise that. So please do not share this wrong information that Canada is deporting people just for no reason. \nA lot of froudulent cases came in limelight, For example some students produced fake documents and chose non recognized college for studies, Hence they are being deported. \nCanada,UK and Germany.. they all have line ups for patients becsuse its free and people go to emergency for small small things. Homeless people and druggies are everywhere.. You go to New york,LA,London or Frankfurt. Job market is screwed in all over the world right now. Its not just Canada for your information.\nI have a request to all the Indian students who want to persue their career here... Please come here and learn some skill. If you guys come here to study business management then Do not work in a restra for 80+ hours a week whereas you are allowed only 20 Hrs a week.\nDeportation just not came in one day.. International students and Illegal immigration abused the system here and forced the govt to do this. And this is only for those who are not genuine. \nAur ye aapko batane se mujhe fark padta hai ?

India acha Hota Toh log family ko chodkar baraf wali Desh Mein nhi atey ,most of the people are just running after 2 jobs sharing their rooms and apartments to save money so that they can atleast have some after they grow old back home ... Firstly India need to do something so people don't go out to clean toilets in tim Hortons and Mc Donald's

I am living in Canada from last 5 years and lived in 3 different provinces ontario, Manitoba and now in Winnipeg. I have plenty of information regarding child health care, women health care, pregnancy issues and housing as I bought house couple of years ago. So if you think my knowledge can help you please let me know, I would be grateful to share. Also I can tell you about UK aswell because my first kid born there. Thanks

Agreed with all your points and thanks for sharing. But honestly, I fail to understand two points here. 1. People living in Canada and commenting that it is true and they are baffled with this whole situations, when exactly you are coming back to India? People will tell you that they want to come back but no one will. It is because those who actually left for Canada in order to have a better lifestyle are still having a better lifestyle in Canada and they will never return back (atleast in the near future). They left for Canada citing the reasons that India is polluted and they are toured based on religion (you know exactly whom I am talking about) but whatever the case is...they are still not coming back. 2. No country is perfect, I agree that Canada has its own problems to deal with but then why Indians are leaving for US, UK and Australia where racisms and cost of living high too? It is because they have issues with India too and those who have issues with a well diverse and prospered country like India, will have problems in other country as well. So if you don't wanna come to Canada, all good but other countries have same problems as well (atleast 80% matches the points discussed in the video - exclude drug ofcouse).

Are you planning to make similar videos for australia? I can share my experience
2024-07-13 0
Thank you for the information, but the way you share the 8 points sounds like a spoiled child complaining. I wish you could give an example of a country doing better in at least 4 things. Homeless people are everywhere. As for non-aggressive homeless, I cannot say. Racism towards blacks or other minorities compares to other developed countries. Taxes are high on a salary because one has a salary at least. So what I am trying to say, these are issues I agree. I would instead call them areas for improvement, and a country like Canada can do better.

Hi Abhi and Niyu,\n\nI've been living in Canada for the past seven years, and while healthcare and the cost of living are indeed significant challenges, it’s not as dire as you portray. If you're going to present facts, it's crucial to provide a balanced perspective. I won't dissect every point you made, but to my fellow Canadians and Indian brothers and sisters, please consider the following.\n\nCanada has a wealth of opportunities. It's misleading to suggest that homelessness and drug addiction are rampant throughout the country. These problems often stem from individual choices, and no country, including India, is immune to such issues. Every nation has its flaws, and the problems highlighted in thia video are prevalent in many parts of the world at present.\n\nHowever, if you are skilled and smart, you will find success here. Effective expense management and smart investments will lead to success. If you're already in Canada, give it your all, enhance your skills, and make informed decisions. Don’t retreat just because times are tough. What will you do if you return home? The grass always seems greener on the other side.\n\nFor those considering a move to Canada now, it’s true that the current climate is challenging, especially for newcomers. There is a right time for everything, and now might not be the best moment to relocate. This situation is temporary and will improve. Don’t be discouraged. If you are skilled and strategic, you can thrive anywhere. I know many who have succeeded in India through smart choices and continuous learning. Don’t abandon your homeland thinking you’ll automatically fare better elsewhere. Again, the grass always seems greener on the other side.\n\nI split my time between Canada and India, cherishing both. Each country offers unique opportunities and experiences.\n\nIn conclusion, every place has its strengths and weaknesses. Canada, like any other country, has its share of challenges, but it also brims with opportunities for those who work hard and make wise decisions. Stay optimistic, keep learning, and make the most of your situation wherever you are. The future shines brightly for those who are prepared.

Canada should have only let in people who share similar Christian faith coz those are the only people who can truly respect the Canadians culture and assimilate in the society , less language barriers , easy to train for a job and even try to restore the canadian culture back , mass immigration from india , pakistan has entirely ruined the beauty of the country .

The answer suffices his intentions and pretty much agreeable as a human. But things aren't that easy. \nThey aren't the native to the land of Israel, but they migrated there, thus, taking and capturing the lands of the native. Due to some reason or the another, things didn't sit well between them and now there's a war. That's a different thing to discuss. \n\nNow the refugee crisis, I agree with the reporter here. Since the Arab countries and the refugees share a common religion and how they boast about their harmony and brotherhood. It's only reasonable and justifiable for the Arab worlds to take the initiative to welcome the refugees by standing at the forefront of the line. But that certainly isn't the case. That's why they deflect such questions and turn it around on the asker to question their own values. A neat psychological trick of diversion to save themselves from addressing the real issues and questions. \n\nThe refugees then migrate to Europe since they accepted them, and then they try to establish their religious identity in those countries which doesn't even belong to them nor they are a native of that place. This disrupts the harmony on the people already residing there as natives and with time, they push the natives back enough till they're not a majority anymore and these Islamist refugees become a majority. Take the case of Britain as an example. This leads to feeling of resistance and then uproar among the natives. Which is already happening there and so is in France. Then those refugees will demand a separate land for themselves which they don't even deserve and belong to. And hence, it leads to civil crisis, and then, a war.\n\nNotice the pattern?

He may be rude and not very pleasant...but he speaks for a great many people who share his opinion. i rent a room. multi-people per room isn't preying on people, it's giving them a chance at not being bloody homeless. It's so damn expensive, and it's not going to change, this has become the only solution that isn't CRAWLING with bureaucratic red tape, And it sucks. Waiting for the other 2 roomates to finish bathroom routines in our shared bathroom... It SUCKS, and that's 3 people sharing 2 rooms, I can only imagine multiple to a room, but I DARE you to try to afford to live in toronto or vancouver while juggling student loans, while you still can't get a ruddy job in the industry you went to school for because it became saturated with laid-off senior staff.

We're not dealing with a surge in balanced immigration drawing from a balanced global demographic. That's nearly universally agreeable amongst Canadians and it likely will never change because Canadian itself is not an ethnic identity but an identity built around shared values. We are, in real time and in nearly every city across the country, experiencing solely a surge in Punjabi immigration. They tend to congregate into tight communities, stack houses with up to 10-15 people in hardly adequate living conditions, and then disproportionately and even sometimes exclusively hire or provide tenantship to people based on ethnicity. Not admitting that would be wilfully ignoring the obvious. Canada is exceptionally inviting of immigrants, especially when they try to integrate and join the broader Canadian society. This recent surge of immigration has been different. Everyone can feel it. It doesn't feel like people are coming here anymore, as much, to join and enrich the country but instead just to enrich themselves and create completely separate, ethnically segregated groups. I prefer when the boundaries between groups to associate and co-operate are as open and mutually beneficial as possible. My family came here and now we are entirely embedded into Canadian culture and fully identify with the Canadian values.

Cost of housing is high everywhere. It takes time to have anything good established. Sharing rooms to cut costs and save until you can afford your own house.

I find it fascinating how much was driven by the wars occurring around the globe. I do believe NATO was driving their fair share of immigration by decimating foreign countries. How about we concentrate of why anyone would voluntarily come to the frozen north. Seriously ?

How much humanitarian aid is given to the Gaza people??\n\nWhat is the amount?\n\n\nTo be honest, how can a small Israel be such a heavy weight as compared to if and when all the ARAB world unite and share that burden?\n\nHmm...if you remember the 6 day war...you guys united but I remember the unity did not equals a successful war. Not only did Israel win the war, they also win the lands

I saw an interview with an immigrant who stated that Canada has no culture. It is simply fragments of cultures from all over the world. That is the problem with multiculturalism. Eventually there is no longer a true sense of national identity, only one of shared citizenship. A passport however does not create a sense of unity. A country with these conditions is not a true nation, it simply becomes an economic zone that is up for grabs by whatever demographic becomes dominate. The end result will only be balkanization.

canada never wanted the deluge of immigrants - that is a desire of Trudeau, libs and ndp leftists. it is not just the 'economy'- over taxed health care, over burdened housing, over run schools (surrey now introducing staggered starts), and some immigrants might not share same values of liberties.
