I remember visiting Canada and trying to get a cell phone data plan, it was imposible as a tourist without any Canadian documents. I ended up paying like $70 usd for 4GB of data with Roger which was insane. Now I just cross US/Canada border and bring my Starlink with me. One day I overheard them in Chinese repeatedly talking about my country Mexico which got me to talk with them. They were quite happy to learn I could speak Chinese but more excited to learn I was from Mexico. They started asking me a bunch of questions about crossing the border into the US to which I bluntly told them I had no idea about and discouraged it. I asked where they got these crazy ideas from and they said that people were posting videos and tutorials of how to cross into the US online. The Chinese government hard handed approach to COVID was what made them leave. They wanted to go both for the freedom and economic benefits but they had a very naive and overly optimistic view of the US. They saw the high wages US workers were making but had no idea as to the incredibly high living costs associated with living there. I tried explaining that there was a housing shortage and that their expectations for life in the US would set them for disappointment but they either didn't believe me or brushed off my criticism. I also tried encouraging them to go to German or Australia instead (places which I feel would be better and easier for them to enter) but they seemed dead set on just going to the US. Unfortunately I don't know where they are now as Wechat is blindly and constantly blocking and deleting accounts in SE Asia without reason......................

Seriously just the last 6 months an officer was shot and killed,a woman was run over at a cross walk, driver did not stop,two people were shot outside a restraunt in their car,in a mall parking lot ,and thats just stuff I've heard about , dont even get me started on the machine gun shootings nearer the border in a family area and I live in a small city in Vancouver B.C. so that rules out low crime

I have tried to do the process thousands of time and it costs me thousand of dollars to take the English tests and finish many papers... and yet i have no chance of even getting closer of going to Canada...while i see here people are crossing the border easily!!

The thing that really pisses me off is that these illegal entries also gum up and slow down the process for legit asylum seekers and legit immigration petitioners who do obey the law. I saw a news report at the San Ysidro crossing where they interviewed a mother of three young children who had a legitimate asylum reason (which still has to be determined in court) who had been trying for over two years to enter legally. The system just didn’t have capacity because of the illegal crossings in the region taking up all of USCIS resources. This woman had no resources and was sleeping on the streets in Tijuana (not safe) trying to survive and care for her kids and she had the resolve to continue to doing things legally. \n\nPeople bitch about America being unsympathetic — what about people like this woman? You gonna say she should give up obeying the law and try to jump the border? What if you came home from work and found a homeless woman and her three kids eating out of your fridge? \n\nWalls don’t keep people out. They have doors.
