I left Canada almost 4 years ago. The quality of life outside Canada is much higher and you can actually afford to live a high quality lifestyle. I would never move back to live there full time again. It's too expensive, the taxes are way too high and the quality of life is worse than a 3rd world country. \n\nIf you are currently living in Canada I would suggest to leave as soon as you can and build options in other countries around the world.

My parents left Canada with me as a child. In 2014 I moved back to Vancouver. I bought 3 houses in Alberta where homes are cheaper. It was a struggle to survive in Canada. In Alberta the government fines you for not having shoveled the snow on your sidewalk in -40 weather when no one is walking around anyway. The people who rented my houses were all using drugs and a nightmare and protected by laws. The rents in Vancouver are astronomical and shopping very expensive. I sold it all and left in 2021 and now travel the world and make YouTube videos and living the dream and saving a ton of money.

I was born and raised here. I am doing my exit plan as I cannot afford to live here as young-adult living on my own. The government knew exactly what they were doing when they allowed 9 million people to come here in a short amount of time. How can you provide billions for foreign aid but can't provide basic necessities to your own citizens? I have cut EVERYTHING extra out of my life and even while working a full-time job I cannot survive in my own country. Canada is a country for the elite, cliche style immigrants, and for the ultra wealthy who pass down intergeneration wealth. A failed health care system that provides little to no services at which you pay out of pocket to get access with private health care providers. You can't depend on transit as it is the mercy of the corrupt transportation/commissioners aka unions and the cost of gas is out of this world. I AM SO LUCKY I went to university and graduated when I did because the same degree would have cost 15k-20k more...food is super expensive...renting an apartment is seen as a form of luxury....you have to know someone to get basic things done. What a shameful society...a society that treats immigrants with upmost respect only to turn around looking the other way when it comes to homelessness...the housing crises...lack of employment oppts, gosh I can go on. My brother was lucky enough to move to Dubai and cash in on his savings by investing it into his properties where he pays 0 tax on his salary from his job.

Maybe if our own prime minister didn't flood the country with millions more people who got payed to come here and given free schooling while Ontario was already in trillions of debt then allow them to use most of the beaches around the country as waste disposal and a porta potty... and don't dare try to argue me its a culture thing go do your animalistic BS in your own country don't come destroy mine, The worlds largest freshwater beach on the planet Wasaga Beach, Collingwood's harbour and sunset memorial have turned to wasteland and the smell is horrid, it has been polluted and destroyed due to the immigrants doing the same thing that destroyed there country here and its despicable....It hurts knowing that I could never bring my child to the beach anymore because I've had friends tell me there children has dug up human feces trying to make a sand castle.....We are on the brink of WWIII and our own prime minister wants to laugh at our struggles and help the same people destroying, taking and pushing us from our home, I wonder what's going to happen when the outside forces realize they don't even need to fight us to win we are at a point where we would just give up the country there's no reason to fight for it anymore there's no such thing as Country pride hell Trudeau changed the anthem to be more inclusive what kind of power does that present :/

Well. There are thousands of permanent residents from Canada who got stranded around the world in the pandemic. The travel restrictions Canada put in place for permanent residents are far out of line. I was at the airport the last week before airports got closed. I had even my return ticket printed out, checked online in. At the airport, I was told, with some other PR’s that as a PR we were not allowed to board the plane! Seriously? What country does this? For myself, I couldn’t return to Canada for 1.5 years! Panic in the first couple of weeks. Calling the Canadian embassy every week. Even asking if Canada had a way to extend the Permanent residency visa at the embassy available. No. If you are longer than 2 years away from Canada, you CANNOT RENEW YOUR PERMANENT RESIDENCY CARD! Well. Lucky me, I didn’t had to work. After 14 years of working and living in Canada, I just had enough from a country that is telling none Canadians that we are people of 2nd class. And no. I am not from India. I’m from Germany and we cannot have a 2nd passport like other countries. I just got rid of everything in Canada. I stayed in Panama. Renewed last year my German passport. Got a “lifetime” residency visa in Panama. Don’t have to be worried about heating costs anymore. It is warm year around. Maybe it was a good thing that Canada gave me the “2nd class human” feeling. That’s when you figure out in times of emergency what countries do for immigrants. Canada was one of a handful countries in the pandemic who blocked permanent residence card owners from returning!

You have to see what happened around the world,without going too far , the USA have a big problem with homelessness, 100 times more than Canada , obviously Canada is only 10% of the American population, our system in the hospital are treated in accordance to the grade of injuries the more severe are look after before your broken arm, over someone hurt in a car accident , so the attention goes to the more serious issues, but still you get care regardless how long you been waiting , unlike the USA sent you home if you don’t have health insurance,credit card , or cash to look after your problem , they will direct you to the emergency were you can wait for hours behind dozens of people waiting to see a doctor, some people had died waiting to see a doctor, our system is not perfect but nobody will let you died because you have no insurance ,money , or credit card , \nWhy people are leaving the country , is because the cost of living has skyrocketing to the point of no return , if you can only work to pay your rent and eat poorly, but with no possibility to save for the future it’s a wasting time to stick around ,and the people coming to Canada will find our system is not perfect and the image of Canada is tannish , but only people with highly educated will find they pathway to a high standards of living if you can make over 90.000 dollars and 180.000 for working couples in high demand

If only one reason to live in Canada worth than any others is Security yes security you have only superpower at 4000 kilometer !!!!in south and. common look at all the wars around the world

I hope they pass the word around so we get fewer illegals and economic migrants. Canada has to get its house in order for its own people not for all the people coming without being properly vetted according to our “not so good” immigration Law. Our country has many serious problems to address and fix i.e., health care, military funding, police funding, housing, affordable food. Toronto’s demographics structure changed dramatically with in especially last 5 years. And it looks like we are not allowed to talk about this. Government says they are welcoming international students from all around the world but 35% is from India. If we add other type of visas percentage goes even higher. Why ? I moved to Canada to live in multi cultural country. Is there anybody in government talk about this subject possible issues in the future?

This is crazy. Masses of people who we don't know who they are move as please around the world with no documents. Europe is flooded, Canada and the US. My cousin is a renowned medical specialist. Ppl fly in from around the world to see her. She practiced in NY city and she and her scientist husband moved back to Canada. She blamed the insurance system. In Canada, she now sees anyone who needs her and there are no non medical ppl telling her what to offer or not. She says that doctors in the US work for insurance companies and not the patients. In Canada meanwhile, treatment is the priority.

I think the homicides and violence are closely related to Canada's Xenophia / Racism and Drugs, particularly in Vancouver which has full neighborhoods packed with unemployed Junkies doing nothing.\n\n* Downtown East is where the Cops throw the Junkies if they ever walk around the Tourism area. We’ve been here since more than a year now and we don’t have a car and we love the pollution free air here and the work life balance. If you live downtown, you don’t need a car as public transport is very convenient. If you don’t want to do things on your own and you definitely need the help from maids and so on, then Canada isn’t for you. It all depends on where you find a house. Very few people in downtown own cars. If you want to live a healthier life, Canada is a good place for that. We came in winters and settled with the help of relatives and thankfully it’s been good so far. Summers are amazing here. Job market is a struggle currently but it’s not permanent. And it is possible to find a job from India if you try for it. If you’re in IT, you don’t need to start from scratch. There are Indian stores almost everywhere and many Indian restaurants as well. You just need to find your place. And it’s an amazing place for plant based vegan people. Food quality is amazing and great safety restrictions. Healthcare also depends on where you live. If you find your people and friends and keep socializing with family, loneliness won’t be there. It’s better to move to a new country when you don’t have kids. \nAlso the accent gradually develops and there’s nothing to worry about. This place is very diverse and there are people with very different accents from all around the world. There is some struggle initially but it all depends on what your priorities are. Life here is very comfortable once you get used to the lifestyle here and the biggest thing is, work life balance and the quality of life. If you want to do things other than your job, this is a good place to do that. Kids also become much more independent here. Rest it all depends on what your goals in life are. Also one of the biggest factors is, if your partner/husband isn’t willing to help with housework or cooking, you can’t survive here. As simple as that. Many factors to consider.

I lived in Toronto for almost 25 years but moved to Berlin, Germany, a few months ago. I found the last few years to be really sad and also scary. There is such a huge mental health crisis. The TTC is not very safe feeling. I have friends there who travel with dog or bear spray in their purses. The cost of rent is definitely a huge issue. A lot of friends can never move into a new place and I don't know anyone there who can afford to actually buy a home.\nThe positives are the food options (groceries and restaurants - some of the best in the world), the nice social life, so many things to see and do around the city, and the various beaches and islands.\nThe city is definitely looking uglier and uglier, though, with all of these boxy, glassy condo towers and now with Ford doing things like turning public space into a foreign-owned inaccessible spa.

Real estate in Australia is expensive because the nation is highly successful and ordinary citizens are wealthy, and this includes real estate, plus with 3 billion middle class Asian's right above Australia the Asian economy dwarfs the US economy to insignificance. Job opportunities are dictated by the fields the economy needs - oil is insignificant in Australia compared to other industries. Geographic Isolation - Thank god the rest of the world is far away, as an Australian I wish it was further away. Air fares prior to pandemic were reasonable USA to Australia around $800 return - but this guy lives in Perth so to go 4-5,000km to the east coast will be expensive - on the east coast a one way ticket to another city can be had for around $50 to $80 - Again for Australians proximity to the US market is not significant we are focused on the Asian region. Natural beauty anywhere is amazing but I prefer a warm climate over a frozen one - The Canadian population is all centered around the US/Canadian border region the rest of Canada like central Australia is vastly empty. Just regarding your crime stats and your section about safety - the homicide rate in Canada, and across all Canadian cities is very very very low relative to other comparable cities around the world, particularly the United States. For example, Toronto’s homicide rate in 2022 was 2.5 per 100,000 - compare this to a city like Chicago, comparable in size and population, which is 24 per 100,000. And this is not even nearly the highest in the US (which is St. Louis, MS at 69.4 per 100,000). The large percentage increase you mentioned in Canada’s national homicide rate is likely due to the fact that you are dealing with low base numbers to begin with - so small absolute increases can yield high percentages, and make it look much worse than it really is. Other types of reported crime may be up, and people may FEEL less safe (due to high levels of vagrancy, increased media reporting, and politicisation of crime trends) but Canada still remains a very safe place to live.

I hope you find a better place because there are the same problems around the world. The United States have normalize a lot of what you are talking about. Hate is growing, greed is growing. I'm almost 70, born in Toronto, I've only traveled to Quebec a few times, no other provinces. I have flown 4 times in my life, once to Thunder Bay, once to Chicago, and two times to the Philippines. I wouldn't live anywhere else in the world. I have worked over 40 years in average jobs but I made it. I respect everyone's religion but don't push it on me, I'm not religious in anyway. Religion belongs in a believer's home or religious establishment. All I can say is good luck, life is what you make it.

Big cities in Canada actually aren't higher in crime. The worst crime is probably western small towns. But even really nice cities like Fredericton NB have far higher crime than Toronto does. This may be changing fast enough that we will see a change, but Toronto is almost an outlier in the world on crime rates. So Pickering is an A- on crime. Fredericton is an F. You would never guess it walking around. Though the same report says Pickering is a D- on health, while Fredericton is an A-, which is ridiculous because you can't get a doctor in Fredericton, unless there is one in the family. So maybe the stats are bogus.

I am giving you a some kind of respect that, if you do not like the country where you are in, then you simply leave it.
