Since my mother was German when I was born, I just recently found out that I'm also a German citizen from birth through descent through my mother. I've been living here in the US since high school when I moved from Victoria to Tucson, Arizona. I eventually got my US green card (permanent residency. I then moved to Madison, Wisconsin and became a US Citizen. At this point, I am a dual US and Canadian citizen in addition to being German citizen as well. I am applying for my confirmation of German citizenship through the German consulate in Chicago which would then allow me to obtain a German passport for access to live and work freely in EU and Schengen countries. I went to The Netherlands last January and I really feel in love with the Dutch culture and lifestyle. I am planning on spending at least a few years there as soon as I get my German passport. \nMy relatives in Canada keep telling me how lucky I am to be a US Citizen as they all say how terrible the situation has become in Canada. I am surprised since I've always considered Canada to be one of the top places to live in the world. I haven't lived in Canada for a long time and I've been doing relatively good here in the USA. I currently am considering Germany as work in Canada is horrible for medical educated personnel. Was looking at Italy, Spain, Poland, and Sweden. Canada is hitting me up for a lot of taxes Federal , Provincial, and Municipal. I also am taxed by the USA for taxes for my real estate holdings, and get taxed by Canada for homes I inherited from my elderly uncle’s. I literally rent my homes to my cousins in Tacoma and Kansas as rental rates are unaffordable. I see house values go up but taxes are there to make it impossible to support the valuation. I had the same issues as an expat in other countries and other expats who I talked to too. It's always the same.\n\nLanguage barrier:\nFor day to day activities it's less of a problem in bigger cities. For most jobs you simply need a higher level of a language for team work. If you're motivated I believe you can get to C1 in 6 months, with good learning techniques. That said you're probably not motivated. Learning a new language feels like hard work and you feel awkward speaking it.\n\nHard to meet friends:\nSame for all other countries. Create your own social circles or try sports, similar interests to get to know people. \n\nHow people treat you:\nIf you feel unwelcome, it's probably just all in your head because you're not accustomed to a different culture, so you feel like a foreigner. Got nothing to do with Germany, but with being an expat. \n\nRacism:\nProbably less of a problem in western Germany and bigger cities. Avoid east Germany. Also see previous point.

I left Canada at the end of last year. After years of busting my butt and trying to get ahead, i wasn't going anywhere. \nThe job that i had worked at for years decided to outsource my entire team to another country and i was left with a decision to try and atart from scratch or atart fresh elsewhere. \nSo i booked a flight to Thailand and i spent three months there. While going on a border run to get a visa extension, i went to Cambodia. It was just a short trip, but it keftnits mark on me and ive been here for almost six months now. \nI didnt like how i felt back in Canada and i didnt like what i was seeing the countey become. Instead i ended up in a country that had been through one if the worst thjngs imaginable and the people were the most lively and welcoming that I've ever met. Well said Ma'am. I am also looking to leave what this country has turned into. Homelessness, rampant inflation and taxes, unaffordability of food and basic necessities, it's horrible what is happening in this country. I can't afford to retire here as housing costs are insane. Health care and welfare are overtaxed to the point of being useless. And it will take decades for this country to recover....immigrants who have come here are now leaving after not being able to survive here anymore. I can't trust the Canadian people to vote to get us out of this mess...

3rd generation here, I can retire next year as long as I leave Canada. If I remain, I will work until dead because it is so very expensive and getting more so under the cult of climate change. It pains me to witness what our governments have allowed to happen in our communities. Drug abuse is rampant, mental health is staggering, youth are medicated, gender confused and climate terrified. A homeless shelter for drug addicts is being built less than a 4 minute walk from my home which is in a seniors park....we will all be victimized by theft and vandalism. We are also divided thanks to trudeau who has labelled and categorized us so deeply he ran elections based on divisions. We are no longer the kind polite people we once were. Churches burning epitomizes the moral or lack of moral ground we live and act upon. So I am moving next year to central America, Panama most likely...I can afford to retire there, never need to heat my home nor worry trudeau is going to ban my furnace and my car. It saddens me to no end for I have grandchildren, 5 generations, of investment in this country.

You Will Not find Germany as Home Ever . I am Living since 18 Years here & i never felt Home ! Also I am a so-called Skilled Worker. I finished my studies in Germany and speak above B2 German but most of my life i am Struggling for a Job , Why ? You should try it your self then you know Why ;), Speaking B2 German is not enough for native Germans. When you come into contact with them, they always want someone to speak at their level. Actually, I find myself in a TOXIC Society everyday where everyone wants you to leave. If you are a foreigner and come to Germany for work, you will get a job along with a 42% Tax and higher rent for accommodation. Racism and discrimination are prevalent in everyday life, such as being followed with eye contact by angry, uneducated Germans! \nIf You don't Believe Try it Your Self ;)

I am also from turkiye, and just completed my 3 years in germany. I won't wait to get permanent residency(which is taking almost 1 year these days) and looking for another role in other countries.

1. German companies expect people to speak C1 Deutsch out of college. Which is not only unreasonable but also impossible unless a student only studied German and not their subject matter.\n2. The companies are still milking COVID and the war in Ukraine as excuses to not hire enough people while the pool of recent graduates is increasing. \n3. People with specialised degrees are unemployed. \n\nGermany doesn't need immigration for skilled labour. It needs to change it's corporate mindset and be more welcoming and understanding of the non-Germans. Sure people need to learn your language but that doesn't mean that they'll land here, eat currywurst and immidiately start speaking the local dialect. You've to be patient and give them time, which they simply don't want to give. \n\nAnd don't get me started on the meagre salary. It's insulting.

Once you get the hurdle of the paper work and getting an apartment. It’s pretty amazing being in Germany especially when you find a good social circle and a couple of hobbies to indulge in but also maybe coz Berlin is easier!

I’m Dutch and I worked in Berlin in 2012/2013. I remember being really surprised by the bureaucracy and lack of digitization in government and services. For example I needed a tax number, from the tax office in the area within Berlin, where I lived. Meaning there were about 19 of these offices around Berlin, handing out tax numbers. If you moved within the city to a different region, you needed to get a new different tax number. Comparing this to the Netherlands at the time, we don’t even have this number, as it is directly linked to your Social security number. Also tax statements are prefilled by our government, you only need to check them on a digitally secured portal.

This is all politcally driven. There are actually very few jobs available. There are hundred of applications at very job ad posted by all the companies I know. I keep asking HR people, where are all these advertised jobs in channels like this? Can DW actually make a study on this? This should not be legal. That's messed up. They're taking those jobs from people that actually need those jobs. It's not easy for people in South Asian middle class families to get these jobs as their English is not fluent so these jobs go to privileged and educated families. They're getting the airline blacklisted by doing this, reducing jobs for the poor in their home country. This is selfish. As someone from a 3rd world country, this is dangerous. I've heard so many cases of people ending up as slaves because some idiot conned them into doing this. Canada also needs to look into corrupted politicians getting PR cause they bought land there through money laundering schemes in the home country. Ideally different people from different states in India have different experiences in Canada. Plus previous qualifications, some students here do not even get up and go to college or university to attend lectures and we blame Canada for not giving them jobs. Blame Indian movies that show 2 extremely opposite sides of lifestyles of immigrants in Canada. Either as high profile business people as if they own the country or as poor labourers with 2 or more sharing a common room in a basement. Improve the perspective of people by improving the quality of movies based on immigration to western countries. You can find students who got job, car and house in Canada in 5 years and you can also see students who unfortunately couldn’t do so much. We cannot generalize things.

If she thinks she can get away for not paying after using someone else’s property, then her employer should also not pay her. Maybe the employer should give her salary to Mr. Singh and other homeless people instead.

If Canadians are unhappy about immigration, that literally means it’s an indisputable scientific fact that there are immense issues with our system. The dark and disgusting side of this that doesn’t get talked about is how many newcomers leave shortly after spending everything they have to boost our GDP before they realize they’ll never get the opportunity or life they were promised here. I don’t think it’s just Canadians that see immense issues with our immigration system.\n\nImmigration also implies diversity. Canada has to start recognising degrees from other countries. Here in B.C. we have emergency rooms closing overnight due to lack of staffing. We need doctors and nurses yet the barriers for those immigrating to get their degrees recognised mean many never qualify.\n\nCanada also needs to look at who we are admitting in and to terminate the family unification policy. When immigration was helping the country grow there was a different demographic coming in. Often it was single men or young married couples. As they came by themselves they assimilated into the mosiac of the country. When you concentrate on immigrants from one country instead of assimilating they setup ethnic communities. \n\nLook into what study groups have said that is contributing to gang violence. It's ethnic groups that have the grandparents, parents and grand kids all living in one home. The grandparents want the grand kids to adhere to their native culture. Unfortunately by time you get to the grand kids they are Canadian. They speak English/French depending where they live with little interest in speaking their ethnic language. There is cultural conflict within the home hence street life is where they find love and caring.\n\nSome cultures are not as community minded. Part of the high cost of renting/housing is based on greed not need. In my own community I know of apartment units now renting at 2,500 - 4,000/month owned by the same people that even five years back you could have rented for 500 - 800. There is no justification for that percentage of increase other than greed.\n\nJob opportunities. Summer employment for school kids is going down yearly. You see local business that use to hire students over the summer month claiming they can't find any workers. They bring in TFW yet Canadian students can't find work. You can tell the owners nationality of a business by the nationality of the workforce. A local store bought by a east Indian two years ago which at the time had a diverse workforce is now entirely staffed by east Indians. Yet who screams racist? \n\nCanada definitely needs to reconsider its immigration policy and bring in major changes.

Worried, my kids will also have to apply 1000 applications to get a job. Who knows may be more than 1000. Build canada (business, job) before importing more refugee, asylum seekers, and through Express entry, PNP, Pilot program.

My family moved here in the ‘90s, legally. My parents paid thousands of dollars for residency applications and other legal fees, which also didn’t go smoothly. Our family of five lived in a two bedroom apartment as my parents worked their asses off. We didn’t get handouts or free housing.

The countries of European nations are being flooded with foreigners, overrunning these nations. Places like England, Germany, France, Netherlands, etc are ethnic wellsprings. The Ukrainian who said he needs to have 10 THOUSAND to get into truck drivers school is BULL SHYTE. I know this because I took a trucker course 5 yrs ago and to obtain your class 1 or 3 cost 1.5 thousand dollars NOT 10 GRAND. Trucking companies also have pay back loans or actually train you for free and some pay minimum wage while learning. Either this dude is way outta touch or exaggerating beyond reason.

I think Manitoba is the cheapest place to live. Atlantic Canada, houses might sound cheap but most of them very old. To get job also is difficult. More tax and less per hour salary in New Brunswick. But good only for seniors, who retired after working in Ontario or BC or other cities.

Laws in Canada benefit the Criminals. You can commit fraud and stuff like this shown in the Video and get away with it. First of all these are not refugees as most of their countries are considered safe and they have also crossed many safe countries on their way to Europe. The only true refugees to Europe were the Ukrainians as European countries were the first safe countries they could reach. These are economic migrants who chose their destination by the benefits they will be given. These are also people no one in the world wants. Just because you want a better life doesn’t mean anyone has to help you get it.

This is a big part of the reason why we have a housing crisis. Nobody wants to invest their money in creating rental units if they can’t collect rent, so that reduces the supply of rental units. Less supply equals higher prices. Landlords also have to charge more to account for potential lost rent in this system. So in the end the stolen free rent is simply paid for by other renters who get passed on the higher prices

I've never been conservative or anti-immigration, but the situation is getting out of control. Canada has always been a country of immigrants, but in my country, Poland, that hasn't traditionally been the case. In recent years, the demographic landscape has changed significantly, and it's not just about our Ukrainian neighbors—over a million have arrived since the war. We're also seeing an influx of people from developing countries, many of whom come under false pretenses, enroll in private universities, or attempt to cross our borders illegally to reach Germany. Right now, we're at a loss, and the most frustrating part is that while we need skilled immigrants, we're instead getting unskilled individuals who don't even make an effort to learn the language. This isn't sustainable.

I think I saw that young woman on the news a while ago saying her rent was going up . two sisters anyways . I'm sorry to her about her sister. but you have a rental agreement with Mr Singh and should adhere to it or get out . and the other people should get out of that house also or keep paying your rent till you come to an agreement with the owner of the home in Brampton . the law has to change .

Get people to drag her out of the condo and move all her things into storage and give her the storage unit key. Also give her 2 weeks rent in a cheap motel. Then move into the condo and change the locks.

We also face a similar challenge in other countries that housing is a crisis and governments keep bringing in all sorts of immigrants, from refugees to highly skilled people (like myself). I have switched 5 cities and the story either gets more worse or less worse. Half a year searching for a decent apartment? Some search for years! It's a full time job. The government gets back to my request after many months! Foreigners offices are packed with applications and citizenship is taking years long now. Getting a doctor appointment (psychological issues) within a year is hard, unless you pay from pocket or are in grave danger. We are being squeezed in here and they started new loose immigration policies to be more attractive to foreigners. Address the quality of life at the same time!

I got my PR in Canada in 2022, I went there and lived for 3 months and came back. I was better off in my home country than live in a rat race all my life in Canada freezing. Also I realise I was in Punjab instead of Toronto, wasn't expecting the quality of life which I was getting there.

I am an Indian and every day I see ads from Canadian universities promising me work visas and top quality education. I also get calls from agents time to time saying my alma matter is more than enough to land me a job there and they just need a certain amount of money to send me to canada with work permit without any college enrollment.
