We don't need any more immigrant during this time. We need to employ the people already living here, prepare for AI taking more jobs, what's the point of immigration? They seem to be following an outdated formula and someone needs to wake up these weasels and prepare the country for today's world. Less people in. We don't need them. What an imbicile.

Japan's population has bee declining and apparently they haven't been investing for manufacturing high tech for probably twenty years ... slowing economies are okay but a fake economy by importing too many people is bad if your looking at the GDP of the country ... look at the per-capita-gdp instead peoples ... maybe that slid a bit in Japan but ours is getting worse faster it seems ... instead of the carbon tax they should probably be looking into manufacturing wind turbines for rooftops that are silent and maybe hydrogen cars or something ... JT has bad ideas & and bad ideas ... & more bad ideas ... he attends the WEF where foreign condo sellers attend ... it's just rich country politicians surrounded by really really rich people who want to sell condos ... JT is making it worse ... btw that WEF happens in Switzerland where they have anonymous Swiss bank accounts probably just down the street ... he couldn't possible be taking any bribes ... i would not put it past him with all the scandals ... embezzlement & cronyism ? maybe ? is he taking bribes ?

I moved here 16 years a go (6 years in Calagary + 10 years in Toronto). I've witnessed the high and low of Canada, about 6 years ago, I already started seeing the dwindling quality of life. Limited job opportunities/security, deteriorating health care and public safety, skyrocketing rent/cost of living, and people are becoming less tolerant/welcoming. Of course the pandemic made it worse, and it exposed the social ills in the country. Still better than a developing country, but definitely not Canada I used to know and experience.

Bringing in temporary workers because the birth rate is declining…. hmmm maybe if young people already living in Canada could comfortably afford somewhere to live and food they might consider having kids

These people are already in the United States...why go to Canada? Their asylum cases in the US must have been rejected for lack of merit or some other reason is making them do this. They should have gone to Canada and avoided the US in the first place.

I feel like moving as a lifelong Canadian. I love people and love culture. Let's welcome a host of new beautiful people into out country and not have a single plan in place besides pay for their housing (not necessarily bad), pay for their transportation (not necessarily bad), and allow a rent bubble to put our welcoming citizens with Trades to live in tents.\n\nHow about this as a sane alternative, the billions of dollars in road tax from gas prices which hasn't improved the roads, and the billions from legalized gambling...how about we audit our government and take a hard and difficult look as to where all this tax money goes, and more importantly the detailed justification? \n\nSame thing, same day. Canada has to be corrupt as the day is long OR our greatness was built on an history of lies. Take your pick.\n\nLet's hire as a people a 3rd party professional firm with oversight and give them 5 billion dollars, the amount we paid for helicopters and opted out for and still paid by backing out.\n\nThat thought alone should be brilliant enough to enlighten us all.

I completely agree w this man. Ive worked my ass off for 30 yrs already & even w my private health insurance thru my FT job Its still gonna cost me between 12& 15 grand to get my teeth fixed. Its life threatening & caused by a bone disease that I have no control over but the Gov't wont help pay a damn cent. (Btw I drive 2hrs a day & sometimes sleep in my car overnight & shower at work cuz I cant afford the cost of gas to drive home every day.) \n@ 45 Ive been forced 2 deplete my retirement savings & move in w my Godparents cuz I can't afford rent anymore.\nI drive an 06 Honda Odyssey which is hangin by a thread & Im grateful AF for it.\nBoth my parents served in the military. Labour shortage? ? we have enough homeless people without jobs already. Canadians do not want to be exploited with cheap labour thats the problem. Pay canadians according to our economy and there will not be so many homeless people and more of these jobs will be filled. The government makes it an excuse to keep bombarding canada with more migrants as to keep the employers from having to pay more and keep labour as low as possible. Of course a new immigrant is going to do whatever job they can get, because they do not know the Canadian economy. You see houses with 15 people in a 3 bedroom apartment, 25 people in a house. The entire thing is a lie. We don't need people...we're a Country whose GDP is built on Natural resources...Not Tim Horton workers. And now with AI we'll need even fewer workers but it's too late...they're in, and they can now bring in all their relatives. Canada is already gone...I was born and raised in Vancouver and it began right after Expo 86 with China flooding Vancouver. It's all part of the plan...it's planned to collapse. Not once in the history of Canada have we built more than 200K new homes, yet here we are with a 500K per year mandate on new immigrants, with last year bringing in 1.2M? How can you as a Government deliberately do that to the citizens of your Country? They should bring skilled Inmigrants with a career path to ensure they not ended up taking advantage of EI and welfare as many do . Fed up of lazy people coming to Canada to abuse the system . As an immigrant myself who came 12 years ago I had to work 2 jobs and study at night French to be able to adapt. When I came I already had a university degree and then did my masters degree here in Canada . At the end it pay off I had a good job now. The main requirement for people coming to Canada should be an university degree at least as in the past . That shows you are able to learn and adapt to new things plus you have knowledge about a specific field .

Canada has alot of unemployed people already they just need to get out of Mommies basement and lay down the electronic devices for a while.

If you do not put strict quotas to countries like India and China, they will surely make sure Canada is India 2.0. Only the highly skilled, super smart people from those countries should be accepted the rest should not even be able to come via marriage. That is the only solution yet it might be too late for Canada already since even India's economy is doing better than Canada nowadays

Unless someone going to Canada to socialise vs being on a sole mission to work and have something to take back home. Poverty in Africa is real my brother. For most people they have seen the worst in their home country, and they are at a stage where they will accept to work in those 'boring' places. \nEven if there is no 'mad man' to keep one company, at least the remote places have work. Just got this video suggestion and it's about 5 years old so I hope this has already been addressed. I can't fathom the fact that so many people can get away with it. I just hope all behind this are either deported with no chance to return to Canada ever and any citizen jailed for a long time. It is not fair for law abiding citizens. Like me, I already want to move back. Canada was overglamorized. I think I'm just gonna finish my post grad work permit and move back home. At least there, housing is still within my reach. It's rare people doesn't own homes. You can grow food in your backyard. As a Canadian, I love immigration. As a renter though, our government failed us so hard. They defunded our housing in hopes that the private market would pick up the slack. It didn't, then because of our economy/demographics are we had to massively increase immigration. It broke a system that was already crumbling. Now a whole generation of people will never be able to afford to buy their own home many of us can't even afford the rent. Is it that surprising the majority of our legislators are landlords?

Car insurance for people new in Canada is 350 to 1,000 CAD, PER MONTH. That already is enough to not go there or leave if already made the mistake to go. Discriminating and exploiting foreigners - this is in Canadians DNA. And this is just 1 issue, there are hundreds and hundreds more insane reasons why Canada is the last place to want to live in.

The best thing that can happen and to be clear I don't have a problem with immigrants but we dont have homes for the people already living here the people living here cant afford to pay more for them an the fact is the only thing our schools and politicians have been doing is taking advantage of them on top of the people already in canada. This is TRUE. It's just a TRAP. They are using greener pasture scam of study first. I myself have applied and have already wasted almost $11,000 just for the application since 2013 with IELTS of 8.0. I have taken multiple IELTS since it always expires every 2 years. And I havent heard anything from Canada. Then came the pandami and I don't have any monetary funds at all. I don't have any intention of continuing my application as Canada just squeezed out the money out of me. I could have just used that money to help other people. I'll just be staying in my country so my country could be a lot prosperous than a country who uses education just to SCAM expats.

Tbh its the right choice , we are millions of homes short to house already canadian citizens. If you come to canada your coming to be homeless or share a rental with a dozen other people whove come here for the same opportunities. Canada is broken and its going to take decades to fix it. Canada is now a much different place than in 1996 when I moved to this country which I called home since. Cost of leaving is really punishing for many and retiring here while maintaining a decent life style is almost impossible for regular people. I'm already planning my retirement in other places and I'm well on my way of achieving it. This is the unfortunate situation which many Canadians are currently facing. Gone are the proverbial good old days.

If these people have no where to live, and can't find jobs to match their skills, why are they allowed to immigrate in the first place? People who already live here can't find jobs or housing. Should we be emigrating to accomodate immigrants? Canada used to be it's own country, and a beautiful place to live and it has gone down the drain. It's disgraceful.

I was just forced by my husband to come here in 2010. I never plan to live abroad but I went for the sake of the kids and dont want regret. My husband is mentally ill even before we got married(family took advantage of me when they saw I was an independent widow that time). Upon arriving here, nothing was prepared,no beds no nothing just the social housing and he was already orienting me to get food from food bank and simply convinced me to follow here for the child benefits,free education and healthcare. Let me just mention, the family of my husband is claiming they were rich and prominent in the Philippines. Fast forward....14 years after, he didnt get a house for us....I just ran after him for child support....he didnt finish the divorce process that I ask him to do upon arrival....now, that its time for him to pay tution fee for college, he is mad! He is so desperate that he brainwashed one of his sons to blame me and make me feel like the whole thing is my fault! My son almost killed me last time bec his dad getting sympathy and ranting that he has no money. This is the biggest regret of my life......I believe if my sons are educated and grew up in the Philippines, they are more happy and was able to tap all their talents and intelligence. I am done here! And for people telling me that the money we earn here we dont get in the Philippines....sorry, my peace of mind and dignity has no price tag. I am not materialistic too. Respect to humanity is all we need!

Cost of living has gone up due to immigration, plain and simple. The increased market demand from immigrants is not being met by the supply, which means the market inflates. This is economy 101. If there is something people want (housing), the more people who want it and the less of it there is, the more it will cost. Immigration is *dircetly* affecting the housing crisis in an objectively negative way. *Acknowledge it.*\n\nIf you *don't* think that bringing *500,000* new people into the country *every year* is going to further inflate the market then you are delusional.
