All International Students are aware that they have to apply for Work Permit but it is not a legal binding on the Canadian Govt. to give one. What is India doing to its minority and what about International Students do they give the citizenship. Canadian Citizenship is not for Free throw the Garbage out they can't even communicate.

I am also India but it is illegal to pressurize government to extend their work permit or grant citizenship eventhough you have contribute enough to the Canadian economy. It is their country and they have rights who will come and who will leave. If they want to stay then they should start their businesses or consult to government migration agents. It is disappointing to see international students doing such unmature thing. Instead of doing protest they should learn about upcoming new courses in the era of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Electric Vehicles, Cyber Security, Healthcare and Agricultural Technology. Canada allowed schools to recruit foreign students. Surge in of applications for students visa and allowed them to work and did not keep an eye on students activities. The headline is misleading as everyone knows citizenship can not be demanded. What these entitled foreign students are demanding is perm residency via extended work permits. Extending permits to five years (as they've demanded) would DESTROY the Canadian economy and have a permanent effect on Canadian identity as well as no end to the housing crisis. Furthermore, many of these students who originate from India's two most poorest and crime ridden states: Punjab and Gujarat, will contribute to the growth of crime cartels, such as the thriving car theft ring targeting cars in the Toronto GTA and the Air Canada gold heist that took place at Toronto Pearson Airport in 2023 resulting in the largest theft in Canadian history ($22.5 million). Guess what country where all six suspect are from ? Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

Went through the pathway of studies-work-residency-citizenship\n\nLet me simplify the story for all of you guys here that lacks immigration intel. \n\n1) The quality of migrants you see here is not what Canada needs long term. It’s not a matter of ethnicity, but Canada needs to import talented and educated folks in medicine, engineering, trades etc. None of these individuals are interested in studying and are either attending 3rd grade colleges/universities to get a work permit and hoped to stay on. \n\n2) Shoddy sales tactics include lying or ‘avoiding stating the obvious’ that could make you lose the deal. This is exactly what the Canadian government did with these people. The Canadian dream was sold somewhat properly before 2017/2018 I would say. Post Covid there was a MASSIVE need of manpower in minimum wage jobs. The government could not afford increasing minimum wage at the time and international students would do exactly those jobs and bring in millions of dollars in tuition fees. The government opened the gates for these strip-mall colleges to take unprecedented numbers of students with allowances to work. These students were sold the exact same dream that a top quality University/college student is sold about Canada. They needed to be used at the time. And if they would’ve been told that their quality of students are only needed temporarily, they wouldn’t have come. The labour shortage at the time wouldn’t have been solved. So a CATCH 22 of the highest order. \n\n3) Canada CANNOT give in to such protests as it will set the worst example of migrant pandering for future generations. The best talent will refrain from entering Canada and more and more of these types of immigrants who do not want to assimilate to the Canadian culture will want to keep on coming.

I was told by an Indian student who took the citizenship test , it WAS 12QUESTIONS , THATS IT 12 ….Student visas are being used as short cuts to Canadian citizenship.. a loophole that every honest immigrant has been denied but these students are being allowed to get away with

So there's been an increase on Indian vs Indian crime. No!! Student visas are just student visa. They cannot stay in western countries indefinitely. We want legal immigration. Stop twisting things. A student visa and work visa's are temporary. Once your visa's are over you go home. You cannot use these visas's as a stepping stone to permanent residency or citizenship. To tell you the truth its cheaper to send them home than keep them. Your protest is null or void. Your rights are in your own country.
