Canada (and many other countries) spent decades supporting the maintenance of US hegemony. Look what it got us? To a position where we're pretty much greatly dependent on, and at the mercy of the US. We need to invest more in our own country and make our own products. We should also trade with other countries regardless of what the US thinks of those countries. Trump wants Canada to put tariffs on China in the attempt to further impede that country's economic growth so the US will remain the economic hegemony. Never mind that a trade war with China would put Canada in an even worse position. Given the current events, I say we trade with China even more!

It is becoming quite clear now. This isn't about drugs. This is a libertarian plan to crash in annihilate the economy and the government of the United states. I am Canadian, and I want to speak to the USA, as a concerned citizen who valued the relationship that we once had between our two countries: please realize that we do NOT want to declare this as any form of “attack”, that these are solely defensive measures against your current administration’s lack of respect towards us as a people and as a country. \n\nPlease rest assured that we KNOW that not all of you voted for Trump, that there are those of you who realize what your current president is truly doing and do not support it. This is NOT about fentanyl. This NOT about money and how much each country was giving whom. We had a respectable trade deal that we were following, previously signed by Trump. We have always had a positive relationship together, business-wise and friendship-wise. Please also realize that, once your administration is no longer in control of our narratives in such a destructive manner, or it gets replaced by one that reverses this destructive policy, we will definitely reconsider our former relationship and we will work towards rebuilding it. \n\nIt is unfortunate for both sides here. We are aware of that. But “Canada Strong” is our way to remain forever a sovereign and free nation. Nothing more, nothing less. Always remember that.

So why battle with tarrif? If America want to increase tarrif why battle it out and just show the world that America is wrong doing it. Or maybe President Trump just want you replace because you keep calling him dumb. ?
