Is New York the new Sweden? We have the same issues with immigrants pouring in from all over the world. We're changing policies now but it's going to take a lot of time to get shit back in order. Don't do the same mistakes we did or New York will become New Yorkistan

We apologize for our horrible immigration policies in Canada. Our Liberal government is killing us with their policies and unfortunately it’s affecting you! Always vote conservative, never vote liberal. Can’t wait until Justin Trudeau and his government are gone! Maybe Canada can recover one day and become Canada again!

Regardless of how these illegals are getting over the border New York City is at The Crux of the matter. New York city's policy on illegal immigrants has virtually slipped a noose around the neck of the city and its residents. If the city does not do an about face with this policy now, I believe the quality of life for us that live here and the migrants will drop drastically. You can't entice these people to come here illegally so that they can receive a better life that no one can deliver.

It's not even just in Brampton even 1 to 2 hours away immigrant and international students take all customer service jobs to the point that Canadians can barely get hired into these roles because we have expectations and rights that we worked for and I've seen these immigrants willing to work for less than legal minimum wage and they do not stand up for themselves or work towards having any shared rights. In addition many politicians on both sides of the aisle are rental landlords so only stand to profit from low rental vacancies and cramming as many people into a small space as possible. They've also cut funding to a lot of post-secondary institutions who rely on inflating tuition cost for international students. At my current role on a team of 15 people plus one manager there are only three white people, born and raised Canadians. The rest are all Indians including the manager and will frequently talk amongst themselves loudly in Punjabi while we're trying to serve customers in the English language. That's actually against policy but Canadians are so outnumbered by immigrants and specifically Indians in this place that it never gets enforced properly. I've never been anti-immigration but it's gotten so bad in Canada especially in places like Ontario that I'm now against it and will tell anyone regardless of their skin color to avoid immigrating here. I've been on a wait list for a doctor for over 11 years, I know people who have died from cancer due to delayed referrals due to long wait list for additional screening, it's insane and absolutely ridiculous especially considering the amount of taxes I currently pay and have paid my entire life as a born and raised Canadian.\n\nAlso it's absolutely true every single one is either taking or has taken post-secondary studies in business admin or management. We don't need more people in these fields we need Healthcare sector workers and not a single one that I've spoken with which again is quite a few studied anything related to medicine Healthcare nursing... not one.

The US needs a strong and effective legal immigration policy which benefits the citizens and destroys illegal immigration.

There's no chance that these people will be able to afford apartments at legal occupancy numbers even if they get a job. If they provide housing, the should provide it in a cheap location far from NYC. That policy would be a powerful disincentive not to come to NYC. However, ICE needs to do its job, and the Northern border states need to send out the National Guard, put up cameras, razor wire to easily accessible places and arrest people for trespassing on private land and bar cabs and buses to transport people without them passing through immigration.

This is why Trump in the US is so popular. Trump policies: #1 he will close the southern border , 15-30 k immigrants a day everyday are allowed to into the US. Some of these immigrants are coming to do harm to the US . They are usually from Muslim countries and African countries. Most coming from South/central America are coming to work in the US , ecape violence/gangs and are also Christians (same religion ). #2 trump stated he will take away birthright citizenship. That is, if both parents are born/citizens from, for example, Syria, then their children born in US will not be granted US citizenship. The children will granted citizenship of their parents. As I watched alot of EU countries Finland, Poland, Lativia closed their borders to immigrants. The US wants to do the same . We gets labeled racists for wanting this same policy. Those EU countries got applauded ??for closing their borders for safety concerned for their citizens. If Canadian or American were to move to either country, we respect them. Americans respect Canadian laws, culture ect . Americans also wouldn't move to Canada or the UK to commit crimes or overthrow the government. We Americans, Canadians and Britts respect eachother, respect culture and would move there to be productive part of our new host country ??❤ ?? ❤ ??

I sure hope there is no revoluation with this group of people as they gain majority and power with a higher voting base.

As a Canadian, I do not find myself or my neighbours resenting immigrants but rather the lack of social planning (housing in particular) that is behind part of this immigration policy. Several new immigrants are leaving Canada within 5 years, finding it too expensive and hard to get ahead, estimates range up to 30%. At the same time many of these new immigrants are the hardest working and doing some of our lowest payed jobs, go in to Tim Horton’s and you will see.

The biggest impact on the declining economic productivity coincides with the Trump administrations trade war against Canada. They ripped up the previous trade agreement, and tabled a new one that attempted to devour Canadian industry. No one ever talks about this, and it's unfortunate. That coupled with the pandemic, resulted in a one-two punch to the Canadian economy. On top of that the amount of investment into automation in the energy sector over the past 10 years has reduced the demand for labour. And now with the ever expanding encroachment of AI on nearly every industry, the Canadian economy is facing an uphill battle. Many think that a prime minister is the main reason, when it's not. Canada is at the whim of US economic policy, which I fear is going to get even worse when Trump returns to office. A transition to Conservatives at the Federal level may lighten the load on a few things like Carbon Tax, and Income Tax (maybe), but they won't be the party to introduce limitations and regulations on investors that are responsible for driving up housing prices, by treating the housing market like it's a stock exchange. \nI will applaud Trudeau on winning over the EV battery plant, for pulling us out of bombing Syria and Iraq, for legalizing Marijuana, and for including Dental Care in health coverage (albeit limited...), but some of his decisions should have been better thought through, like the capital gains tax, and should only be targeting investors that have more than 3 properties. While he increased the budget for the Military, he's spent his first two terms ignoring it and that's severely hampered our readiness, and equipment. And while I do think we needed to boost immigration to stave off economic disaster, the current level that its at is problematic, and many bad faith actors are taking advantage of it and enriching themselves like the diploma mills.

Hi Febby, stumbled upon your video and wanted to know your experience in Canada. As someone who was born in Canada and left, I wanted to know about some current sentiment, especially by younger people. I think you had some interesting information. I'm actually sad to hear that crime and homelessness has gotten even worse, especially in places like you mentioned, DTES. One thing I want to share with you about the housing issue. Canada acts like a Federation. Meaning that a lot of decision making is delegated to the provincial and municipal level. Yes, Canada has goals for immigration. That's a super valid goal because every developed country is going through declining birth rates. Canada wants to lessen the damage that will be felt by so many other countries like Italy, Germany, China, Japan, etc. The issue with this federated government is like you said, a disconnect between goals and readiness. However, I really feel this will never be accomplishable because of all the lobbying that occurs at the municipal level that the Federal and even Provincial level government cannot control. Yes, there may be shortages in labour to do development, but even then, I really think that lobbying and corruption is keeping adequate supply from being built. From the homeowners and the perspective of the wealthy property owners, they want to keep the valuation of housing high by keeping supply low. Why else is the municipal government keeping such archaic zoning laws? From what I could find, there has been some talk about changing this (https://bc.ctvnews.ca/b-c-to-table-housing-law-targeting-outdated-zoning-rules-1.6627260) but I struggle to see anything really being done. That's probably because of lobbying. The immigration laws set by the government had too many loopholes and flaws ultimately. I don't think we are getting enough productive immigrants. Actually, the opposite seems to occur a lot. The wealthy from the countries I mentioned are abusing the immigration policies in Canada to transfer and preserve their wealth in Canada. I think it has hid in plain sight for a long time, and people have started talked about it in the last 5-10 years because of the struggles of housing affordability from the middle class. What about the immigrants that really want to start a life in Canada and find opportunities like you said? The housing is too expensive for them to do that. Really chicken and egg problem like you mentioned. And this issue can't readily be fixed with the way Canadian government operates. Look forward to hearing your thoughts. Liberal mindset. Just do something without looking into cause and effect, silence any nay sayers by labeling them with some kind of hater title, proceed with plan. Plan fails terribly, don’t recognize the failure, continue with terrible plan until damage is irreversible. When questioned on policies or data on its effects, Liberals don’t even answer questions, they literally don’t answer the questions. Any people from around the world who want to know why Canadians are so displeased with their current government, please watch Trudeau parliament debates. It will make you wonder how this guy got voted in. Once the liberals realize their policies are failing, they change policies and blame opposition for their failures.\n\nIt’s interesting that the ideology of Liberals in Canada is supposed to be the middle ground for most people who agree with the left and the right political policies. As a Canadian, me and most of the people I know is fed up with this mass immigration, and there isn't nearly enough new constructions to sustain this which creates massive housing inflation. Wages are stagnating also in part because of this massive immigration but also economic policies from our governments that are very anti businesses and pro big governments. Our taxes keep increasing and so is our deficit and yet I feel like we have less and less services in return. My country is trending in a very shi tty direction and this is why we are probably about to switch from a very left-progressive leaning Liberal and NPD party coalition to the conservatives.

No mention at all of the massive increase in tax base required to fund healthcare for aging boomers that is actually underpinning Canada’s immigration policy, cool. Failure to build housing because of NIMBY municipalities and an unwillingness by the federal government to align immigration targets with capacity are much more to blame than the nonsense conspiracy you’re spouting. No PR anymore. This country has the worst immigration policies and the worst people!

It isnt an immigration crisis. Immigration doesnt stand alone as a political policy. We have looked at immigration through the lens of demographics. Canada is facing a crisis of demographics which immigration is helping to solve. As baby boomers begin to retire and millenials stop having children, in 10 years Canada will face a massive deficit in workers. So much so that the only solution is to open our borders and train new young families to fill all the employment spots that are begging to open up. The average joe on the internet cant see Canada in 20, 30, and 50 years from now. We have good politicians that can. Its their job.

Well why blame the Indians for this mess? It was Canadian govt that through its liberal immigration invited the least skilled folks from India. International education is being run like a scam. But as a Country Canada has a right to stop or slow down immigration if it is in the best interest of Canada and their economy. Australia, Singapore, USA all have done that. We cant call it hypocrisy.\n\nAlso once you leave your home and immigrate to another country for study, job or whatever, you cannot expect the governments of those counties to make decisions favorable to you. In Trump era, USA was very strict on Visa policies and many Indians moved out of USA. USA has gun problem, racism and so on. \n\nPoint being, when you immigrate it comes with your own challenges, irrespective of which country you select. At 3:50 right now, respectfully disagree to one thing - it’s not “hypocrisy” for them to control their immigration policy which is in their best interest. A nation’s policy is and should be intended to serve its citizen’s best interest only. \nBut i get the general msg about Canada that you’re putting in this video and i 100% agree to that :)

When we came 28 years ago 1st time in Montreal there was very limited south Asian immigrants. Health care was top of the world..living standard was best with less expensive housing & other costs.. Now we live in Toronto & after 28 years its a totally different country. Health care is verge of collapse. 6 to 7 hours waiting in Hospital, 3 hours waiting to see a family doctor. No housing for new people. Car theft is high in the world. Lots of drugs in young people. No job for immigrants while local born young people struggling to find jobs. Only highy educated from local universities people gets job. Food cost higher than US, Europe. Large country but 80% people lives close to US borders. Northern part of Canada is empty. Racism getting higher & higher.. All these problems started after Trudeau came in power. During Harper time Canada was top of the world. Trudeau adoped reckless immigration policy. He brought people here without developing infrastructure like new hospitals, schools, housing etc.. Now most of students are living in stress here. 4/5 people living in one room. No job.. Education tuition fees are very high.. Therefore, new people coming to Canada must do their own research before come here. 99% political asylum cases are getting rejected & facing deportation. Students will not get work permit until they finish their course & get a job from employer.. Trudeau time is over. Conservative party will come to power next year & they will make immigration tougher.

I must says the Canada was the ideal destination a few years ago but seeing the opposite trend now, many people are moving back to their country of origin or either moving to different country where the living cost is affordable, things are not great here and now the Canada's immigration policy are changed significantly as well in which they only give to certain category of worker who meets their labor market needs such as healthcare, STEM, construction worker, traders, french proficient people and others.

I tried to emigrate for years to Canada. I speak 9 languages, C1 (IELTS) and graduated as a French teacher in Albania and later Switzerland. Have a work experience in my field and are with my husband and child law abiding citizens. We tried for years and between IELTS tests and Credentials assessment it took a good chunk of our finances, yet we weren't deemed to be enough to emigrate to Canada. Even raised my child bilingual in English Albanian so she could adjust better and integrate. What kind of policies are these that repel people that are willing to integrate, that try to come there legally and respecting your laws and immigration programs and open the door to law breakers? I just wanted a simple life and a teaching job while holding the utmost respect for the people and the country. All this thing makes me sad, but also makes me feel stupid for wanting to do things legally or that i believed Canada was a country where law was respected.

Hello, I live in BC, Canada. Canada is currently in a very rough state, and I can only hope things will improve soon. One of the biggest issues is the rampant, uncontrolled immigration. The government invited a flood of people into the country without having the necessary infrastructure in place—jobs, healthcare, housing—to support them. Now they're trying to cap immigration, hoping for a turnaround, but it's like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.\n\nCanada's drug and crime policies are an absolute joke. I also have an Instagram account where many students ask me about studying in Canada. I always tell them that if they're doing well in India, they should stay there. The problem isn't just with India's education system—it's with the unrealistic mindset of people wanting to come to Canada.\n\nWe see students desperately going from one store to another, begging for jobs that simply aren't there. Some even sell their land or property, especially in Punjab, thinking they'll find a better life here. But right now, it's just not worth it. When I advise others, they think we're living the dream in Canada while trying to stop them from coming. I moved to Canada 12 years ago, and the country has changed beyond recognition.

This is 100% True! Actually the condition is much worst than descirbed in this video.\n\nHealth Care:- Average wait time to get a family doctor is 3-5 years. In simple words, if you have an extremly seious condition then only you get an immediate treatement in Emergency. If you need to see a specialist like dermatologist or orthopedic, average wait time here is 6 months. \n\nRents :- Canada population has increased by over 1 Million every year in past 3-4 years due to libreal immigration policies. However, the goverment did not take any steps to accomodate these people. To give context, Canada has built houses every year to accomodate only 300K people. That is why the average rent(950$) is more than double nowadays (2000$) for the same house/apartment in compare to what was 5-6 years ago. \n\nHome Affordibility:- Average family(two person) income is $75k yearly right now. Average house price in Canada is $700k. The bank only approves mortgage upto 4x times your income. So that is 75 * 4 = $300k mortgage. So you need to make a downpayment of $400k if you want to buy your own home. \nBy the way, the minimum wage job package is only $32k per year. \n\nCrime and Chaos:- Canada has a catch and release policy for repeated criminals. Let's say somebody stole you car and got caught, he will be released on bail in 10 mins. The crime rate has increased 20% in last 5 years. \n\nTaxes:- Average family(two person) earning $75k pays 29% income tax to Goverment for these above mentioned wonderful servies. So in hand they only get around $53k, plus they pay 13% additoanl tax on groceries, clothers, insurance, absoulte everything.

They all immigrate to PEI because it is the quickest way to seek citizenship in the country, as soon as they gain it they move to Ontario. I have met many wonderful people from India through work and because of our government choosing to allow so many people over here without providing proper housing for not only the new immigrants, but also for our own native born citizens, there is nothing available at any decent price for young people like myself who want to move out from their parents homes. It's also causing a lot of people to be racist towards Indians when the fault truly lies in our government. And because we are allowing so many people over here without proper background checks and things such as that we are also allowing people over here that could pose a threat to women or others. I had a cab driver last week (who was from India) who tried to hit on me and told me he left India because he was getting into too many physical fights over in India and also told me he had gotten into physical fights with some of his customers as well. It was scary for me as a woman to be in a car with that man who was taking me to my home. The government needs to do better for us. We feel alone and ignored when it comes to this. The greed pushing this stupid, and not properly thought out, immigration policy needs to be put to an end so that the people who have lived here their whole lives can get a chance at life.

Amplifying nit picked. 1. It’s up to the country to change policies for the best of its people. 2. I haven’t seen any unfair policy which immediately gets you deported. 3. Name a developed country with high immigration doesn’t have any kind of crisis. 4. People think moving foreign makes their life rich and lavish. Once again none can do that without hard work. @AbhiandNiyu : I’m a Canadian citizen of Indian descent. I agree with the issues you have highlighted but I disagree with the narrative you have presented. Here are my reasons why - \n\n1. Canada has always been a peaceful, prosperous, progressive and a good governance oriented nation. In the recent decade, too much of woke, radical left wing ideology has penetrated into policy and public institutions that have led to Canada’s current day crisis. \n\n2. This country has always welcomed talented immigrants who are willing to integrate with the Canadian society, embrace its values, traditions and culture. However, in the last 10 years, too many refugees and reckless mass immigration has put an incredible pressure on the economy, infrastructure and social cohesion. \n\n3. The political leadership has allowed reckless mass immigration without caring to boost the economy/infrastructure to handle the volume and hence the sorry state of affairs. \n\n4. Too many immigration consultants of Indian origin engage in outright VISA frauds (yes, this is unfortunately true) leading to ppl coming in as a tourist and then seeking asylum or converting their visa into a student visa (55 year olds from Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat coming here as students).\n\n5. A significant chunk of people coming from India (esp. Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat) seeking a permanent residency in Canada are using student visas as a back door to claim eligibility for PR/citizenship. This is downright abusive and was never intended to be used like this. This has fueled a fake college diploma industry into Canada where “2-room” colleges have sprung up along the highways giving out fake diplomas and certifications for easy cash. Thus, the students, the immigration consultants and the fake diploma issuing colleges are all getting benefited from this scam. The internet is filled with such sting operations by Canadian officials exposing Indian students/immigration consultants. Do check them out. \n\n6. Unlike the past, the recent batch of immigrants in the last 3 years or so, make no effort at all to integrate into Canadian society and abuse the system, create law and order problem, drive recklessly, talk loudly in public spaces, litter everywhere, cross railway tracks like they do in India, steal liquor from stores, shamelessly collect food from food banks (as a way to save on groceries) that are meant for the elderly, disabled or those that are in utter poverty. It wasn’t like this ever before. In cities like Mississauga, Brampton and Surrey, the Khalistan movement + gangs involved in theft, drugs and human trafficking are from Punjab/Haryana and they have mushroomed here like crazy. A good 30-40% criminals in prison or on bail in these cities are of India ethnicity. \n\nIt is behaviours like these by Indians in the recent few years that has thoroughly infuriated native Canadians and now they hate the rest of us that have lived here peacefully and have been good citizens. There is a very serious, very real anti-immigrant (anti-Indian too) sentiment building up here. \n\n7. Lastly, the student protests that you have highlighted here is absolutely ridiculous! These students from India came to Canada under a student visa knowing fully well that they are supposed to go back after the completion of their studies, and now they are DEMANDING that they be issued extensions in work permits and be considered for PR. This is insane! This is because they never intended to return to India in the first place and were abusing the system as a back door entry. They are threatening to go on hunger strikes and what not. Legally, on a student visa, they are NOT allowed to participate in any sort of activism. \n\nNOBODY that comes to our country on a temporary visa (student, tourist etc.) has the right to dictate terms to us and demand that we change our immigration policies based on their preferences. No, that will not happen. \n\nCanada, like every country, has the sole right and privilege to decide who gets to become a permanent resident or a citizen based on our national priorities and strategic interests. I see nothing wrong in this principle.\n\nThanks for the video and I hope you will consider the other side of this argument as well. Canada alone is NOT at fault here. Immigrants and temporary visitors from India have some soul searching to do as well.

As a fairly liberal Canadian, immigration is the only subject that makes me move to the center-right politically. We don't have the ressources to feed, house and care for 1.5 million new people every year, much less the Canadians already here. Justin Trudeau has been hurting the country with his open door migration policy because he's too scared to lose his brownie points from the far left. Any other politician is too scared to say anything negative and concrete on immigration because it's considered political suicide, but the tide is changing with Canadians. We don't want anymore would be asylum seekers or foreign students working and overstaying their visas because WE CAN'T EVEN TAKE CARE OF OURSELVES ANYMORE. Yes, our birth rates are too low and we need some immigration to help close the population decline gap that will eventually come, but it can't be a free for all. We can barely afford rent, groceries, healthcare, etc. now and I fear it will only get worse in the coming years. At this point, as an early 30 something year old, I will never own a home or even be able to move without dishing out 60-80% of my income for rent. None of this is viable long term, we're reaching the point of criticality

I've seen firsthand how immigration policies can be manipulated. During my time working part time at a new fast food joint in downtown toronto, the owners (who were Indian) hired their recently arrived brother as the manager. It's frustrating because it feels like they're gaming the system. In a few years, he'll likely become a permanent resident, thanks to how some south asians exploit canadian regulations

I've been living in Canada for the last 10 years ( came here as an international student), and now applying for my permanent residency. Went through high school, post secondary, and now working a full-time job in my field of study. I would say it's long overdue for Canada to scale down on its immigration policies (yes, I've had this thought even when I was a student so anyone who thinks I switched teams can shut up). There are simply not enough houses to accommodate Canadian, let alone immigrants. A lot of them only work minimum wage jobs which neither help the country with shortages in other fields nor their careers in the long term, and overall it gives immigrants a bad rap in the eyes of Canadian citizen. The recent changes in immigration imo is a good first step in the right direction.\n\nEdit: Also I'd like to add that if you're leaving your own home country to join another for a better life, it's your responsibility to adapt and contribute to their society, not the other way around. If you can't do that, stay in your home country.

Only 40 % ?\n\nMy friend moved to Japan for a job. We bought a house at about the same time. He was able to save enough money to buy a house in 5 years. In that time I was only able to save enough for a down payment to get a 20 year mortgage.\nThe strange thing is I was making more money. Canada is a greedy and corrupt country. We pay about 46% of our income on taxes. The Liberal/NDP reckless immigration policy drove housing prices to double in price in about 5 years. We will never forget that.
