I don’t like some of the set ups here. Leland was watched pretty heavily in the Regina Shoppers Drug Mart. But he’s wearing a backpack over one shoulder and shopping with a reusable bag too. That is a very common theft opportunity there as products placed in reusable bags appear to be bought when proceeding through cash registers. Also side bags and half strapped on back packs are very common concealing equipment for theft. It is very common for security and staff to watch people exhibiting those signs. In fact they are trained to do exactly that. Also, he was frequenting areas with high theft products like baby formula. It’s not unreasonable to follow that kind of behaviour. Sure there could be some racial bias at play but I would follow anyone regardless of race given the same body language and equipment I observed with Leeland. A very leading story, to be sure.

i mean ive worked alot of retail and we are generally trained to approach customers regularly... retailers like best buy if they are going from section to section will often have different staff approach them simply due to how employees are trained and the fact that generally they work off commission. i can see how this can be seen as being watched. if its the same staff member over and over thats a different story.

When people get beyond the boundary of a person's color you will face the reality of what this is all about in the first place. Isn't it funny when we look at things like professional sports. The music industry a host of other platforms you see the black community excelling. Now you do not see a huge rebellion taking place from any other nation that is not represented in those areas. So what is really up with these other areas you continue to bring up. All those other problems are not being escaped from because of a persons color. If you believe you have a problem in those areas. Then continue to find solutions. Stop trying to single out the fact that you are the only race that has life issues. When you know every Canadian daily has challenges it faces. The thing about it all is simply this fact. What are you going to do about it ? Stop putting up walls that tell others you are always a victim. If that were the case your basketball courts, baseball stadiums, football fields would not be filled. We all know that is not happening. And I certainly do not believe that all blacks live in this sort of arena. In fact I have a lot of friends who are black. All I see everyday is a beautiful person behind that face. The other thing is, that there are millions of Canadians every year out getting tans when the sun hits. That alone should speak volumes.

There’s a common saying which states that the difference between Canadians and Americans is that “while Americans side with their fellow citizens against the government, Canadians side with their government against their fellow citizens.” This is stereotype is the best explanation as to why Canada can’t see to develop a viable market economy or compete with other nations on innovations in STEM or the arts. The problem with Canada is that it never developed a culture outside of “not being American” and the result is that their government has been allowed to grow to an enormous size and basically strangle all of the talent out of the country. Canada, despite the fact that it’s an English speaking country on the North American continent, is virtually nothing like America is any sense of the term, and actually has more in common with Scandinavia than it does with the country that borders it’s south.

Well, you can be sure they are wearing protective gear because of your last reporting on them. Let's face the reality. Discrimination is a fact of life whether it's legal or not. But it's not all about race. Anyone can be discriminated against because of the way they look, act, dress, even the way they walk and talk. You can have two people from the same ethnic group and they can have a totally different experience. For me, it's mostly positive. Not only it's positive, I felt I have an upper hand because of my race. If people like you, they will be color blind. If they don't, it doesn't matter what race you are. So please stop this type of racial dividing message. What you should promote is property etiquette in different cultures and help people become part of the melting pot and understand each other better so we can all get along.

Besides the fact that they always look really CREEPY, you have to remember these are a tribal people that have about 3 or 4 families, all packed together and living in a single 3 or 4 bedroom house (all sleeping on floors like they would in a desert tent, back home) and their houses always stink of potent curry spice. So if you live next door to them, you cannot open your windows or relax in the backyard without choking from the constant potent stink 24/7. That is another reason why 'white' people move out of the area immediately!

This is such a ridiculous video. Especially the implication that other races are less biased than whites. Asian folks largely stick with Asian folks. Muslims often times only marry Muslims. Most black people in America admit to racial bias and there is a large amount of hate crime against white folks that is not charged that way because of their white skin. Almost everyone has cultural bias. As a matter of fact I would make the argument that white folks are more likely to date and marry outside their race and Christians too.

This is such bs. I’m so sick of news articles treating deportation like it’s some national sin. We’re supposed to feel bad that people get deported for living here illegally?! That’s what deportation is for! This chick is 30 she’s been here 18 years, if she was concerned about going through proper channels, she would have. The people who deserve to be here are the ones who have endured the process of doing it legally. The fact that someone can live here & own a business for years all while being here illegally is ridiculous. “Couldn’t they just go after criminals?” You were supposed to be deported over a decade ago! I learned something new today from watching this documentary, the fact that they actually named a town & a park Africville in the great white north. Some people are naive while others are not when it comes to racism. The very fact of the world has been conquered & dominated with the white supremacy mentality leave very little to be surprise that Canada had slaves. I think from what I've come to understands is that having slavery for 250 yrs most white Canadians will pretend to not be racist, but it's like those two kids in your class the one who had the paper thrown at him & the one who did it doesn't act like he did anything & the rest are just as bad because they saw who did it but are complicit by not saying anything. I think I should start a pub called Kabbah cafe and run all day specials of pints, pulled pork and ribs. You have no idea how many muslim friends I have that eat 2 rashers of bacon every time that I cook it at home and drink the place dry so that I have to stop by the off license twice a week. We need to have a little bit of compassion for Muslims who are struggling with this. Imagine that you were born into Islam. You didn't ask for it. You just happened to be unlucky enough to be born into a Muslim country and raised under it. It's not their fault that they believe what they believe. \nWe need to help them to free them from the chains of Islam. The way to help them and free them from Islam is by educating them with the truth. It's difficult for them to accept because they have devoted their entire life to it. It's also quite a shock when they see all of the errors in the Quran which is supposed to be the pure word of an all-powerful and all-knowing God. Then they see things like- the sun revolves around the earth and sets in a pool of muddy water. It's like somebody telling you that your dear friend has been lying to you for the last 50 years of your life. You just can't believe it. You don't want to believe. You defend your friend, you love your friend. \n\nSo instead of insulting these poor Muslim people try helping them by suggesting that they read the Koran cover to cover from beginning to end. Then they will see for themselves that this 7th century book conflicts with modern scientific and historical knowledge. That's when they will realize that Muhammad invented the entire thing so that people would obey him and treat him like a god on Earth. That's when they will realize that he was a 7th century man who knew nothing about the scientific knowledge that we have now in this century. That's when they will realize that the Quran is filled with threats of punishment and violence for not believing and not obeying the supposed word of God given to them by Muhammad. Muhammad put harsh punishments in it so that they would submit out of fear. This is why Islam is so violent. \n\nTo our Muslim friends in humanity. I'm so sorry that you were lied to. So sorry that you wasted much of your life devoting it to Islam. I'm so grateful to those of you who have not followed the violence of Islam commanded in the Quran. But now you are free with the truth. Go and live your life in Peace and freedom. Love your fellow humans and help your fellow humans. Try to spread the truth to other Muslims and help them. Racism has always been in Canada, dont be fooled. It may not be as prevalent as in other countries but racism is in fact here in Canada, I grew up here, Im a black born Canadian and dealt with it all my life. Mostly just taunting and name calling but one thing is certain, wherever you find white people you will find a lot of ignorance and even the good ones seem to always be a step or 2 away from a racist rant when they agitated. As long as they don't get violent with non whites then I guess we can deal with the slander and name calling. As a person with a darker hue, you will always be looked at like you are an Alien to them.

I am shocked at the fact there are more dislikes than likes when the CBC provides facts and so many people say they are lies, and others agree! The negative sentiments about refugees and immigrants are getting louder and people are happy to call fellow human beings “them”. They insinuate this is a huge burden, when the fact is we benefit from migration. It seems people think Canada will be over run by people from a foreign land, take all the resources and eliminate people born here, but that’s only happened once, when the British and the French arrived 400 years ago.

Canada is way tougher then the United States on immigration...in fact Trump would like to change the American system so it is more like Canada's. As a Canadian with a Honduran wife .. I tried to arrange a visit to Canada for my my wife and our small daughter and they rejected us...so I have lived in Honduras for the last 15 years.

Well, black and brown people in America and brown Muslims in Europe are heavily overrepresented in crime, especially violent and property ones, per capita. It is just a fact. It would thus make sense to focus loss prevention and police resources to groups where there is more likely for a crime to occur.

This can feel compelling however there is clear bias. Every store will have its own profile of who steals and it will vary from store to store. There are facts about crime as far as identifying what groups of people are committing what crimes. You can't just discard that information because you don't like it. Obviously blatant racism is wrong but not everything is defined by race.

What I would like to know is why in the case of roxum road crossing we never saw any US officials there stopping people from illegally leaving the US hmmm! We had the RCMP there all be it as bellboys but they were a least present. Ok so there's a lot of back and forth racial comments in here so I'm going out on a limb. I've been living in castlemore bramton since 2005 1st phase. It was multicultural then, which is how it should be. I grew up in Woodbridge where there were more Italians than other cultures, but I could get a job there,and I did not feel out of place. The problem that I have with Brampton is that, the Indians do not hire any other culture in their business places, from the banks straight down to the grocery stores. I would also like to keep my property value up to par and even that's becoming hard. Segregation is UNACCEPTABLE!!. It bothers me that the government is allowing this to happen. I see job postings online that's asking for Punjabi as a second language. Any job postings in Canada should have either French or English requirement, any other language(s) is a plus. This comment is based on my own experience being a resident of Brampton. Facts is facts!

I used to live in Brampton and this is the city where I first landed. No hatred for the city but people have ruined it. I'm a brown guy myself so I can't be racist against my own people and tbh, some of the best people I know in Canada are Sikhs but even they accept the fact that there is a large number of bad apples in their community. Sikhs have played a major part in both positive and negative way, to make and break this city.\n\nInsurance scams in Brampton cost their citizens to pay one of the highest premiums in the country. Generally, drivers in Brampton have no fuckin' idea how to drive because the licences were literally bought. \n\nA large number of people of our brown community always hell bent on abusing the system, wherever they go. We bring the same back home mindset here in Canada rather follow the system. \n\nThe only thing mostly brown community is focused on is how to make money and that's all. Don't try to learn the language, don't like to mix with people, don't care about the laws or anything. They only like to have nice big houses, show off their leased fancy cars and that's all.\n\nI left this city for good and don't regret my decision at all when I see numerous videos about the bad situation in Brampton. I'd love to move back to Ontario but cannot live in this city anymore. One thing really pissed me off when I was there that most people expect every brown person to speak Punjabi and when I used to tell them that I don't speak or understand Punjabi, you could see the surprized looks on their face.

You're supposed to have an emotional response to this and reflexively demand that these individuals get to stay despite the fact that they broke the law to get in. However it's important to note that every time someone like this man selfishly breaks the law to cross the border another man with a family just like his, that is going through the process legally gets screwed over. This is what happens when people listen to the left's fabricated, emotionally potent, oversimplifications with regards to policy. Sick of hearing stories like that, I understand the fact that she doesn't represent any Canadian, ( including herself since she was drunk and said sorry later) but still annoying. My concern is the other Canadians, Individual haters always exist but stop those individuals up to other Canadians. Easy to tag muslims as *terrorist or *isis or easy to tag white people as *racist or *hater. As a community we should be able to stop those behaviors even before it starts , then we can be a strong community and live in a harmony .

15 years in the U.S. and he didn't learn English? Two years ago I went on my church's annual week-long missions trip to Guatemala and absolutely hated the fact that I couldn't understand what people were saying around me. I immediately started studying Spanish so I could go back without fretting myself into fits over not being able to communicate. If I can learn Spanish for an annual trip, he and others like him can learn English when they come to stay in the U.S.

Consider an investment in your future. In 50 years the amount of money spent on these migrants fleeing from desperate situations is a paltry sum Mr Scrooge. BUT if one of those people makes a dramatic difference to your country then think how far ahead you will be. \nThe alternative is to send back the refugees or illegals and wish them well. That would be a catastrophic waste of potential life. So are you really worried about hotel costs in the grand scheme of things. Are your really? Pitiful.

I took the IAT back in 2004 when colleges first started using it. NOBODY took the test seriously back then and my professor was careful to explain all the nonracial variables that can effect results like ingroup vs outgroup preference... or the fact that implicit bias is very different from explicit racism variables you'll never see left wing media talk about

This whole thing is total horseshit. Implicit bias is far from scientific fact. It’s barely a working theory. I like how only the white people are pegged as preferring a certain race. Guess what, EVERYONE prefers a certain racial group. And 9 times out of 10 its the racial group you are part of that you prefer. This is straight up propaganda.

My brother worked at a Sprint Retail store and tells me that 100% of the people caught stealing were blacks. This is so sad.. I am just blown away at how political this has become. I agree racism is an issue but the part with Islam, that is cultural not race. That was proven by the fact the woman actress whose race is Mid Eastern had no idea that other Mid-Easterners suffered these comments when they dressed in obvious Muslim clothing. There is a difference between Race and Culture. Irregardless, we need to treat each other like we want to be treated. All cultures have common things among its members that are unpleasant to people of other cultures. If we realize that about our own culture, we can empathize with others.
