I was actually thinking about moving to Canada. But the last few months and countless videos of people getting the hell out of there has put me right off. The whole Western world is in free fall and those in current power seem hell bent on bringing us all back to serfdom in a weird one world government which seems to be the way things are heading. I am Chinese from Malaysia. I lived in Toronto Canada for 2 years as a Student. I really like the people in Canada. It is very diverse and friendly as well. But I left to come to San Francisco because the Winter is just too Cold and I was Sick all the time. Here Homelessness in San Francisco and Drug use is out of control. People blame both sides of the government and even threaten Civil War if one party loses in the next election. You are still young and be able to make mistakes and still start all over again. Make sure you have a contingency plan to fall back on. May the odds of life be in your favor.

I feel you. I have a somewhat similar upbringing. Immigrated to Canada, from Lebanon, when I was 7 (with my family), so 42 years and I consider myself to be Canadian. And I've always justified paying our high taxes as the price we have to pay for the great services we have. But more and more I'm feeling these services are falling apart and cost of living has skyrocketed. \n\nI'm not sure where I'll retire.

As a Canadian, I am proud that we are finally the best at something even if it's a housing crisis lol. I lived in Vancouver for a while which is worse than Toronto for housing and I frequently saw adds that said: looking for female roommate to share bed, cleaning duties required also cooking, single female only 25-30 y'o 400$/mo and then there was a selfie of a 40-50 years old man. When I first moved there years ago, I rented a small room for 600$ i think (2015 or so) and there was no heating at all in the house. I was lucky to find a place in Fall before it got too cold but I was already uncomfortable. Apparently ''amenities included'' doesn't mean it's heated.

There is no labor shortage (Fachkräftemangel) in Germany. This is a fairy tale (Märchen) no one believes. They just need more people who don't know the system to feed their low-wage market. Please, don't fall into that trap. Look for better countries.

They started a classic Ponzi Scheme. An immigrant brings in Cash which they have to spend here which gives a boost to the economy ( when you have hundreds of thousands of newcomers coming in). \nBut the fools didn't realize at the beginning that it is a pyramid scheme where you need new people to keep joining and with time you need more and more people to keep that pyramid from falling flat. Now they can't suddenly stop adding more people but the more join (new immigrants), the worse it becomes for everyone in the scheme (Canadian Residents).

if any country allows large number of indians to live in their country than that country will fall for sure. That first comment saying we don’t need a million more Ubers drivers and Tim Hortons workers doesn’t come across very well. Lots of people coming here are highly educated. \nOn the other hand. Tims hires immigrants because the typical “Canadian” minimum wage worker doesn’t show up to shifts, are late frequently, or have poor work ethics. Immigrants are reliable because they don’t have a plan b or anyone to fall back on if they don’t have money coming in.

Canada is a human resource waste land. I have seen people with hi tech skills come to Canada and end up opening bakeries. If the economy is growing fast and creating jobs, everything else falls into place. I moved out of Canada more than 12 yrs ago as I felt my career wasn't going anywhere and I would end up wasting my degree and skills. Best decision of my life!

Most ppl in the comments section were complaining about immigration. What they don't know is that there's a weak demand for investment in a country where companies expect a falling population of customers. If birth rates continue to fall down then the government will have no choice but to lure immigrants to boost population. It would be worse without immigrants as living standards would stagnate as the population gradually vanishes.

If the standard of living is high, it's easy that population fall down when there is a problem. They can't cope with the problems due to their living standards, lifestyle.

While that’s an insane amount to be behind and still living there, this wouldn’t happen as often if we fixed the damn housing crisis. Yes you will always have bad apples but I’m sure a lot of the people in similar situations are actually good people that are struggling to live and have got themselves into a bad situation. Not everyone has family to fall back on if they get evicted. I’m not saying that’s the case here either she could be a complete criminal taking advantage of the system but be easier to weed those people out if there wasn’t a housing crisis.

After Covid - in Pak & Ind - Canada was the most desired destination. I made some analysis about Canada before deciding to apply for immigration and reached to the conclusion that Canada is falling soon (not as a country but for the immigrants so don't get hyper on me :)) So just be wherever you are because the world is going crazy. And no place on earth is gonna be peaceful for long!

Most jurrisdictions in North America treat rent as a civil issue while if one walked into a bank or a store and stole $2000, the full weight of the law would fall on them. A few US states have turned rent theft and squating as a criminal matter, which is what the provinces should do. Both tenants and owners need protections, and quite frankly, tenants need owners to provide them with a place to rent. The tenants act protects tenants from criminal owners, more is required to protect owners from criminal tenants.

Rental boards and eviction laws fall under provincial jurisdiction. Ottawa has nothing to do with it.

Our nations are our homes. Our borders are the national equivalent of the walls and doors of our houses. We, our parents and grandparents have worked hard to make our nation/homes comfortable for our children and our children's children, who are, oddly enough, of the same race as ourselves. Power stations, water and power distribution networks, sewerage, buildings, mines and farms etc. did not fall from the sky.\n\nBurglars want better lives. That is why they go into other people's homes to get a share of the stuff that the residents have worked had to pay for. Modern migrants are like burglars. I live in Niagara Falls all my life. I can’t afford to keep my self and son fed without assistance or barley keep the lights . 10 mins away they are living in hotels, getting food, diapers. Hygiene all for free as well as a monthly pre paid card or cheque from 1800-2800 a month… I’ve lived here and payed taxes for over 30 years. Where is my help?

Look, governments know the falling birth trajectory and they that is caused by modernity-convenience, comfort, all powered by technology. Plus they've allowed the market to monopolise housing, which depends on profit...Growth is powered by human economic activity, for the moment anyway. The short term solution is to bring in millions of immigrants to keep the show on the road. This rapidly changes the indigenous culture. The indigenous people, particularly poor working class mostly white, get resentful and angry. That is where are now.
