Cut all government funding to universities and give the money directly to Canadian citizens who attend university. That way the international and local students can be on the same footing with no question that Canadian taxpayers are subsidizing foreign students while their own children cannot get admission. That is my main concern: many immigrants are not just keeping their old culture but forcing it on native Canadians of all descent. \nFor refugees, it absolutely boggles my mind why you might want to recreate the very situations that you are fleeing from. \nFor Indians specifically, I’ve noticed a tendency to hire only other Indians, excluding Canada from Canadians and I don’t appreciate it. The problem is simple. If its an issue of cost of living, while its true that it is very high, its very high across the industrialized world. That is because the causes influencing cost of living are not related to inside Canada but are being influenced by foreign actors which Canada has no control over. The Ukraine-Russia War for example is causing increases to food costs which are not easily overcome. The situation in the Middle East between Hamas and Israel threatens to spiral into a regional war and that threatens the oil supply and the present price for oil and gas. The Houthi have been making it hard to traverse the Red Sea which is forcing shipping to travel around Africa rather than directly through the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean Sea meaning those additional fuel costs get transferred over to the consumer. As for housing, while efforts to cool housing markets have been made, Canada's housing market is still relatively hot meaning the prices remain high in big cities. Its like a perfect storm. Increased costs on mortgages are an attempt to push down inflation but in the short term you are going to feel that as well. Also we are living in a transition period as the world sinks back to the older model of trade before before Bretton Woods in 1947 which is leading to a decoupling of product lines that at one time coming from Asia were cheap but are not more expensive because they are being made back in the home countries. Transitions do come with a price. Finally, add taxes which help to deal with health care, social programs and government services like embassies, foreign missions and the army well yeah its a perfect storm.\n\nI hope you have luck where you end up but do not for a minute assume that the grass is greener on the other side. Even Japan which attempts to keep certain costs low, has been forced to increase its national consumption taxes to offset overall costs. It isn't going to get cheaper but more expensive as we move back to the old trade model. However, as the world weans itself off of the World Trade Organization and the IMF, the world also re-opens the potential to a Great Depression because that was the reason Bretton Woods appeared in the first place. The world isn't going to get better but far worse.

I immigrated to Canada from China eleven years ago. If Canada eleven years ago was what it is today, I would never give up everything I have in China and immigrate to this country. I plan to return to China next year, back to where I grew up. Compared to here, China has been making progress in the past ten years, and the most direct thing is that people's living standards are getting higher and higher, and they are safe. In my work place it is 90% Indian. I'm one of the few white people born and raised in Canada. \nNo English is spoken during lunch break or very little is spoken. \nThis creates alienation among the employees and the few that are non-Indian no longer use the lunchroom and prefer to sit elsewhere or in their cars.\nThis happens in the community as well and Canadians are feeling excluded from society.\nIn regards to racism. It is law of the land, like it or not just accept it. I did my masters from United States, and later worked there for a decade. As person born in India, I can never get green card of the United States. After leaving to India for good, I realized I cannot adjust in India, US would never accept me, so I came to Canada. But like every person who moved from US to Canada, not a day goes without missing the US. People in Canada are amazed why I left US and came to Canada. People from other country of birth can easily get US green card and eventually citizenship, but I can never get one. So should I start hating the US? Nope. I am grateful to US for everything. I came from a poor family in India, with less than 8000 USD in my parents saving. I studied in US free of cost sponsored by research grants, did top notch academic research, and worked on top notch industrial research. Due to which I had no issues finding job in India, and directly got interview and job offer in Canada, Sweden and UK while sitting at my home in India.\nUS would always be my home, does not matter I have a green card or not. I would always remember US and miss it, in good memory.

Chinese companies only recruit people from China, and they are a majority all over the world. Why is no one questioning that? They never recruit people from other countries and directly mention in their job postings that Mandarin is necessary. Is that fair? Express entry system which provide invitations for PRs are directly linked to the job market. so, if you are in a high demand sector, you can get the PR. \nJust having a Canadian degree doesn't guarantee it. you have to have work experience in these high demand sectors and with current job market, it's impossible to find a job. \nAnd for these students who protest, government has already extended their work permit once. and if you can't find a job in 3 years, then you are no longer needed by the country. The main reason in my opinion is the harassment of women, by Indian men coming directly from India or Bangladesh and the Arabian countries. They touch and grope women, make vulgar gestures with their mouth, hands and legs and voice on the street or bus or subway, plus they are dishonest and lie. They want slaves, not skilled ones. I live in Germany, speak the language and have studied (a Master degree 2.4) there can't even find a internship. Similarly with a friend of mine who has had his own business (went broke thx covid laws), has lot of experience, certificates but cant find skilled jobs. The only jobs we get direct and positive responses are low skilled jobs.

I feel bad for those who were duped into coming here to Canada. They had big dreams of becoming successful here, instead not being able to do that and being forced to live in cramped accommodations. I work in healthcare, and a lot of people who work in the facility in which I'm employed were brought here from the Philippines and India, mostly. Some were hired directly by this employer, while others came here some other way. Those with professions like being an RN were under the impression that it wouldn't take that long or be that difficult to get their Canadian certification to work as RNs here. Instead, they found out that the process for that here in Canada is a lot tougher and takes a lot longer than they'd been led to believe. So many are left not being able to use their education to its fullest, instead working as care aides until they can get the proper certification. I know that this has also happened with doctors and engineers and to many in other professions for which they went to school for years. It's a real shame.\n\nThis massive influx of people coming from other countries, though, has been really tough on those of us who were already living here. It's been way too many people, and we just weren't prepared. It's been one of the biggest factors in the huge increase of cost of living and, of course, it's by far the reason we have an enormous housing shortage.\n\nI'm not completely anti-immigration, but I think that it needs to be stopped, at least for a while. Let us deal with what's going on now instead of bringing in more people that would only help to make things worse, through no fault of their own. There's no reason that we need to have more people coming here right now. We have way more than enough people here right now.

I opened a business in Canada with a partner in 1974. By 1985, in spite of having a successful business, I moved to the US in 1985, and have never looked back. Canada was moving in a direction in the 80’s, that I could see was no longer a fit for me. I never believed that Canada would sink as low as it has, but I have to admit, compared to the US, it was becoming far too regulated, and far too Liberal for my liking.\nThe open immigration policy for me, was a complete deal breaker, and its current shift to being a Muslim, East Indian, Chinese, and African country, would not have worked for me, as a Canadian Protestant of English, Irish, and French descent. I know for a fact that the Chinese are extensively involved in the current synthetic drug crisis, and although there are many law abiding Chinese in Canada, they serve to camouflage the Chinese underworld that exists in Canada, as they do in Mexico, that allows them to pipeline these drugs to Canada, which is being destroyed by this crisis. All said, Canada is becoming a crime ridden, drug infested Muslim shithole, where Canadians can look forward to sharing this demise with their Chinese, and East Indian neighbours.

I had been living in Germany for a very long time, before I moved to the Netherlands several years ago. If we compare DE to NL, than I would indicate the following main advantages of each country:\n\n?? 1) low prices for food and relatively low rental prices for apartments (the prices in NL are at least two times higher) 2) the enterprises are more willing to invest in their employees (in NL you must be already a very skilled/talented worker) 3) if we speak about the German health care system, then you can directly approach a specialist without visiting your GP, even though you must wait an eternity for your Termin (in NL is your huisarts always a key decision maker). 4) The Germans are more friendly towards foreigners (probably because they made a lot of experience with them, due to the mass immigration)\n\n??1) much lower taxes and premiums 3K net salary = 4,2K list salary = 5,2 K premiums (in DE the same 3K net=5K list=8K premiums, of course approximately). 2) much much less courts/lawsuits/warnings about every crumb (have you ever heard about the German Abmahnindustrie???) 3) the young people in NL are the priority (even if we compare the Corona pandemic time, the whole German society strongly prioritized the older ones) 4) much more order in the cities/villages and much less pre-conventional/spoiled immigrants/freeloaders (step out from the same train in Aachen and in Maastricht- you will instantly notice the difference!).\n\nHope to have informed you all sufficiently ??

On the one hand GER says it need skilled labour, but on the other hand they create a very unattractive environemt for such people. Thenin total disregard for their actual needs, they do everything to attract unskilled people from around the world as asylum seekers, which creates an even greater burden on bureacracy (which in itself is a burden, that GER created for itself) and the welfare system. Additionally, they miss their mark for new homes built by ~ 50%. \n\nAll that, in combination with increasing crime rates creates a growing resentment against immigration by the german people, which then deters the skilled people, which we actually need from coming to GER.\n\nGER could be great, if it would let itself do, what it does best. Be organized, deliver quality and be crafty. However, GER has currently an ideological issue, which prevents it from pursuing a rational strategy. Unfortunately, our current path just leads in the opposite direction, where we should actually head.

I went to Germany for my Masters at one of their top universities, back then (10 years ago) taken in by their great public image and a personal interest in Germany history and culture. Looking back now having also experienced living in the UK, HK and Sweden thereafter, I can understand why Germany has trouble attracting the top talents, or any ambitious individuals seeking to develop their career overseas.\n\nIt doesn't provide the money.\nIt doesn't provide a dynamic enough market and opportunities.\nIt doesn't provide the same type of diversity and excitement in truly world-class cities like London, HK etc. Don't get me started on food.\nEverything is functional but that seems to be the sole standard to aspire to. \nGermans are not the people whom you can bond easily. Sincere and friendly many are, but the amount of effort needed to even crack beyond that shell is ridiculous. In this respect I think most north europeans are quite cold and distant. But working with Germans you need to also handle their 'honesty', intensity and directness on top of that. The lack of nuance rubs a lot of people in the wrong way. \n\nThe Germans whom I met and spent their formative years overseas are fantastic. Invariably none of them would have thought of moving back.

Why some skilled immigrants are leaving germany? I have many friends who did that- IT, finances, etc. 1. Very high taxes and thus net salaries comparable to Eastern Europe. A senior dev in Bulgaria gets 2000-3000 NET. After taxes in Germany, well, he will get a little less. 2. Cost of living in Germany is much higher- rents, energy(because of green policies and taxes), services(because of costly labor), etc. \nImagine a budget of 1000-1500 eur to give you a nice apartment(400-500), bills, food and bars/restaurants 1-2 times per week. With a net salary of 2500 eur(average for qualified jobs in the capital) you can save 1000 eur or more with ease. With almost no illegals security, standard of living, etc is close to german. That is why qualified bulgarians do not go to Germany anymore. Same comparison can be done with all other EU contries. \nBecause of socialist policies for equal payment, high taxes, etc even germans leave Germany. What was the number? I think I saw more than 100000 qualified germans leaving each year. But why stay? To be taxed so that an engineer gets 1.5-2 times the janitor? With german social security unemployed get more than many working people. Rent covered, money for food and more and social payments leave you with more than the one working for twice your income because he pays rent, bills, etc.\nThere was an article I think in DW years ago about unemployed young people working for 2 years paid by gov and leaving the job market forever.
