wow this is just an opinion video of sorts, but guess i'm proud to live in montreal. i own the last army surplus store here. 1423 st laurent. i love montreal as a city, the food is second to none for all of north america. um, weather is full winter during dec to feb. i also live near magog in the eastern townships which is beautiful.\ni've been to pei, love it there, great beaches and very quiet. never been to BC, and living here, i would never visit the middle of canada, just flat and boring and drugs are a big problem and homelessness. cabot trail in ( i did it on bicycle) is fabulous. quebec city, amazing.\ni'm a proud canadian and surely there are far worse countries in the world to live in. but when i retire full time , it will leave for a warmer climate (snow bird) in the winter. not florida, too busy and not nearly as nice as the Caribbean, i go to Curacao 1 month every winter. perfect weather and being dutch has great food and is safe island and beaches are second to none........

It’s great to see and hear two well informed Russian immigrants who clearly know what’s wrong with Canada than most of its complacent citizens and mostly all of its politicians. I watch many YouTube videos of westerners,mostly Americans,Canadians, Australians Brits who have emigrated to Russia many with their families. They all have good things to say about their experiences and don’t regret their move.\nWhich begs the question I must ask. Do you two ever regret leaving Russia in light of the frustrations you have seen here or encountered personally in terms of cost of living, crime,culture,government inefficiencies, not so subtle censorship to name just a few issues. \nIt would be nice to hear your thoughts on that subject.

Canada is building a tonne of housing as is, a bit less than in the past, so yes, issues with the growth of red tape, zoning, development taxes, etc should be addressed, but the problem has mainly been that the population has been growing at an exponential rate, in the past decade. The construction workforce actually doesn't have that many immigrants - around 77% are Canadian born, compared to 73% of the overall workforce, and I suspect the 23% that are immigrants are probably mostly immigrants that have been here a while, with very few temporary workers (which are mostly in retail/commercial services, elder care, and agriculture). That means immigration has been a bigger problem for increasing housing demand, compared to any benefit to increasing the supply through increasing construction workforce, especially when you consider that the size of the construction workforce is proportional to the total population, while the housing demand is more correlated to population growth. \n\nThere is also the differentiation between expanding infrastructure/housing supply, vs improving/maintaining it. It would not be a bad thing if we were able to shift some of the construction workforce towards improving our stormwater infrastructure, fixing roads, and building transit alternatives (improves quality of life), rather than just building more and more new roads and homes just to keep up with population growth (maintains quality of life).

My answer : create an online income and leave for a cheaper country to live in. Why would anyone want to live here other than they do not have a choce. Housing is way out of reach , taxes on top of other taxes, inflation so high its created the highest food bank use I have ever seen. When people become homeless their life exceptancy drops very fast. . I am leaving for either Mexico, Thailand , Ecuador, and or Malaysia.The cold has made the majority of Canadians Braindead. I appreciate the effort these two women are making to educate Canadians about their own country, but! I can see that their focus is strictly the Gen Z crowd, who really need educating, but not by a couple of foreigners who are just trying to make a living. Good for them. I admire your tenacity. There are 13 different cultures and societies associated through a federation with a central government in Ottawa. Every province is unique in its politics, social programs, even cultural events. Not every province and territory celebrates the same holidays, memorials or statutory holidays.\nPeople in Newfoundland are as different from the rest of Canada as the Scots and Irish are in their homelands. Alberta has cowboys, BC has sailors, Saskatchewan has wheat and Manitoba has the Guess Who and mosquitos. Ontario is just arrogant, Quebec is just Quebec. There is NOTHING Canadian about Quebec. If they had it their way they would have been independent since the 1750s. They don't even like to speak English. They do it out of obligation to the federation. \nThe Maritimes are again, unique unto themselves. They could easily be an independent nation and then their true culture would shine. Why they practically speak a different language. They have been here longer than any of us and are in fact the most unique culture in all of Canada with the exception of one very important factor:\nThe First Nations of Canada. Their culture is as different from 'European' as Indian is from Chinese or Russian and Korean. \nAnd they have been here for thousands of years. Are. you addressing them as well in your broad stroke analysis of my great country?\nYou need to get to know this country from those who have been here long enough to educate YOU.\nWith all due respect I think you over reached your grasp of the situation. You can't learn about a nation just by travelling around and talking to people. You have to live here...for a long time. Good luck and effort though.

So, who in Canada is going to step up and start the road to housing recovery? Will it be the lumber companies, who charge us more for our own wood than they do the Americans, Europeans and Chinese? If you let housing be handed by private developers, then those developers would want to build expensive homes for those rich.. it's not profitable to build affordable houses because you dun make a lot.\nThe govt need to take control and build houses which is not for profit but restrict it for Canadians only .not fot foreigners

Canadian immigration system is a joke and now that they allowed about 5 million people with temporary visas without any kind of job opportunities people are forced take steps to secure their future. Majority of Indians arrived in Canada with plans to move to USA as the rumours were that Kamala would get elected and would grant path to citizenship for all illegals.

As someone who had to take the English assessment to attain the PGWP, I complained so much because I didn't come to Canada not knowing English, and I certainly did not graduate without the ability to read, write, listen and even present business cases in English. It pissed me off at the time cause he costs hundreds of dollars for something I was assessed on before even coming to the country. Did they really think my English got poorer after 3 years in the country? \n\nBut I totally get your point why its needed now with the way things are. However, in the long run, I think reforms should be made at the student visa level. Canadian and other international students who worked hard to get into uni don't need a deadweight that cant speak the official language of the university and contribute meaningfully. Forget contributing to Canadian society, would the student himself learn anything?

Doing the opposite causes friction and even arguments where customers explicitly say: “Please don’t talk over me, listen to me first.”\nPutting myself in the shoes of a hiring manager who is culturally Canadian, knowing that Canadians are very risk averse and kept to themselves: Why would I stir the pot in the workplace by bringing in a foreign worker who may have internalized habits that are seen as rude and abrupt?\nIt’s not only about English skills, degrees, who does things faster, etc., but cultural awareness. If you don’t take the time to learn about the culture of the place you are migrating to and/or expect that locals welcome habits that could be perceived as rude and shocking to most Canadians, you are going to limit your network to only people in your cultural group - which will definitely hinder opportunities for growth. Don’t make the mistake of assuming that everybody thinks and acts the same as you do.

I live in New York. Been wanting to leave for 10 years now because I wasn't able to have a social life here. I met a friend that is Canadian and thought leaving the the US might be better. I would like to give Canada a chance.

If you were to migrate to the country this immigrants came from no western person would be considered from that country. \nBut when so many immigrants migrate to western countries and claim asylum and get citizenships they call themselves Canadians.

What these people have to realize is that is that as non citizens you have very few rights. You as a visitor have to have an exit plan. Not us. No Canadian said to students or any immigrants that they are guaranteed citizenship once school is completed. Canadian citizens are without work , living on the streets, eating from food banks. Why on earth would we open the flood gates to immigrants. It really doesn't matter what they think. It's about what we as Canadians know. End of story. There really isn't anything questionable.

I apologize to all the Canadians ??!!! Canada has always been a strong ally of the U.S. and a great friend!! Many Americans and Canadians have family together, dual citizenship, and travel and live back and forth in both countries. I am so sorry Trump is being awful to you.\n\nDecreasing the flow of illegal drugs and reducing fentanyl deaths in both countries would benefit Canada and the U.S. Both countries are close partners and I’m sure are already working to address this. I’m sure all Trump had to do was ask nicely and Canada would have handedly agreed to work with the U.S. amid redoubled efforts.

It seems that if Adlof Trump was even 1/10th as smart as the President of Mexico he would actually have a brain. Last time Adlof Trump put tariffs on Canadian lumber the price of OSB sheathing went from 9 bucks a sheet to 56 bucks a sheet. As a Canadian, I noticed this immediately driving in the southeast USA where almost every radio station would have a 'preacher hour'.

I have ethnic background from Hong Kong and have been living in Canada for almost 40 years. I love Canada and am proud of this beautiful country. However, I think part of the immigration problem we have is the ongoing issue of allowing dual citizenship of everyone who have become a Canadian citizen. I have personally known lots of HK immigrants who would return to their own countries to work as soon as they have got their Canadian passports. Normally one of the parents would stay with their children here for free schooling, medical care and child tax benefits. Their children will follow their parents to go back to HK after they graduated from universities in order to avoid the higher income tax . Unfortunately, those parents will come back to retire in Canada so that they can get free health care benefits and OAS once they have fulfilled the residency requirement of 10 years. Canada do need more skilled and educated immigrants to make our country more prosperous but not those who try to take advantage of our lenient immigration policies. I think we should take back the passports of those who have left Canada for more than 2 years or those who have evaded taxes so that we do not continue to support those never contributed to our country. PS, I mentioned about HK only because of my origin and I believe the same problem would be caused by immigrants from other countries too.

Their culture values education so many of them already come to Canada with a high level of education and they are getting degrees in order to work in Canada. Another difference is that family and kinship is valued so Indians work together to build themselves up. They may have to live in crowded housing but they r working to save to be able to buy their own homes. The problem with White people is they don’t have family unity, they view having children and inconvenience. They don’t realize that those children will become their safety net as they get older. Family helps each other out, those Indians would do anything to keep a family member from living in the streets. This would put their family in shame in their community. Canadians have something to learn from the Indians. By the way their religion disapproves of alcohol & drugs so they don’t have that problem. As a 35 year old Canadian born citizen, at this point I would love to become a legal American citizen in any republican run state. Canadians and other nationality look around your neighborhood every Canadian Bank hires them because the Manager is East Indians. About one week ago I asked a Manager in that location why there are so many of his staff one nationality and not a mixed of other nationality he could not explain himself. Many customers in the line up asked the same question. The Manager is Indian and 99-9% is jndian. I asked myself and to others if Pierre Trudeau was alive today this would never happen. So to our current Prime Minister Head of this State it's time to clean up this mess.

Foreign real estate speculation and land purchasing has not only been allowed, AND encouraged, new properties/condos are being marketed in China well before they are IN Vancouver! Now, it's too late to plug the leak. Thus, rampant homelessness. \n\nCompletely irresponsible immigration policy. Nobody in their right mind would deny that a multicultural country like Canada needs immigrants. Especially with the aging population. But as far as accommodating/housing these people, we're not even close to being on target. We are not only putting the horse ahead of the cart, the horse hasn't even been born yet!\n\nNeither situation will be fixed anytime soon.

In my opinion The longer stay of immigrants like 20 years they get pensions which they don't have in Canada and move back to their own countries I would assume those who are not on wait list to recieve canadian citizenship fro perminant residence status have no intention of staying in Canada in the long run ir they would be also applying for citizenship not just perminant residency status in my opinion.

Canadian expat living in Asia. Just returned from a visit to Canada. While spending time with family and catching up with them was awesome, I couldn’t wait to be back in Asia. I’m enjoying a lifestyle here in a tropical beach that would be unreachable in Canada. Eating out all my meals, going out, attending cool events, flying frequently to nearby countries for a weekend or week or weeks at a time. Eating clean healthy food, meeting inspiring and friendly people. Typing this from the beach on a Sunday morning while enjoying my big freshly squeezed carrot juice cup that I paid 60 cents for! \n\nCanada only for visiting once a year. \n\nSave money, work remotely or better yet, learn a high income skill and live anywhere while making money online is the new FREEDOM PLAN. Get on it while you can!

Yes the woke media thinks that Canadians should assimilate to the immigrants coming here but they don’t think the immigrants should assimilate to Canada. That won’t end well for Canada. If you moved to a different to a country you would be expected to assimilate to their culture and values, and you would out of respect. Canadians should expect the same level of respect. I don’t think they need to give up all their traditions but they do need to adapt to ours too. The good news though is that I believe that a lot of the younger Muslims coming to Canada will adapt to our values and culture because they are craving freedom:)

Come to Surrey BC! I've lived here all my life, and live about 7km's from the house I was brought home as a baby, so I've never left this city, and I, like that gentleman and lady you talked to, often feel like I am the only Caucasian in Surrey! Go by any elementary school, and you'd find it difficult to see any hair colour than straight black! Like when I went to school, so many now are driven to school by parents or grandparents that where brought over to Canada as well, so traffic around schools very often is chaotic at best! The once peaceful sound of birds singing, is now taken up with sirens, from ambulance and fire trucks, it's hideous! I too would love to move, but we keep asking, 'where'...as we'd like to be in an area with just caucasians, to feel 'at home' again! It's not that I don't like the people, but most in Surrey, are much more well off than the average Canadian, driving high end cars, and even their teenage kids have high end vehicles. So, like many Canadians, I'd just like to see normalcy & common sense once again, and a complete end to immigration, until ALL of our crisis's are taken care of!

Why doesnt people just stay in their country if its that Great we Didnt go to their country and impose our traditions and values. believe it or not if we go to their country and Impose canadian tradition we Would get killed. Conservatives will assemble a legal committee to revoke the status of anyone who switched from visitor, fake student etc... to permanent resident and order them deported. Trump is not joking and he will kick out millions in just 1 year because he has robust means and eager sheriffs to round them like chicken and ship them out.
