The post-war world order is now over. It's time for Canada to drop out of NATO and NORAD (what is the point of a defensive strategic alliance with the only country in the world that is openly threatening you with annexation?) and expel all American military and government personnel in the country. Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia, Japan, South Korea etc need to form a new strategic and economic bloc oriented toward the goal of breaking America, just as we did with the Soviets when they were the largest threat to global peace and prosperity. That clearly was a slap in the face and wasn't very smart! Pay for your own military!!

As Trump has said he would do is make Canada pay for their own air and ground defense of their nation. For too long Canada has taken advantage of a free halo above their country complete with military hardware from the US. Once Canada is forced to provide monies to maintain and buy updated/new equipment the US will hammer them again. Canada doesn't make anything the US can't make themselves.

Trudeau and the NDP-Libs have left Canada a weakened, vulnerable and unproductive country, on the verge of economic disaster. This is all on Trudeau!\n\nWe have no leader, and the individual leading “Team Canada”, won’t be around to fulfil the commitments.\n\nThis is a group of leadership Premiers, trying but without any authority. \n\nWe have no working Parliament. \n\nAnd, they have completely ignored the issues laid before them, not just recently but for years. The border security issues (including the ports), the immigration issues, the fentanyl issues, the military issues…. overridden by woke waste.\n\nThey’ve destroyed our entire economy to reduce our supposed 2% responsibility for climate change. But we have done nothing to reduce or eliminate for our supposed 2% fentanyl responsibility. \n\nWe need Trudeau gone, Parliament restored, and an election called!

Canadian here while I support what the PM is doing, I don’t think a tit for tat solution is enough. Canada needs to look for other trading partners like China. Let’s have a free trade agreement with them and rip up USMCA. That’ll fix the trade deficit overnight. Similar thing for military we can save the Pentagon billions by leaving NORAD and NATO and building a strategic joint defence agreement with China.

If countries stop buying military equipment from the US that would be alot more retaliatory than tariffs.

Honestly everyone is to blame. Canada and Mexico have both been riding the American gravy train for decades and never got slapped by any of the former presidents. And now that a president who puts the US first comes along everyone acts like America and our president is in the wrong. Just because something wrong was allowed to happen for so long that doesn't mean it was right. So two things these tariffs will do to Canada. One your economy isn't exactly stellar right now. Two Trump just has to pump up the pressure further and Canada will fold. It's that simple. As for Mexico they are squarely attached to America's teet. They need us WAY more than we need them. They will fold. And during negotiations we will make them ok US military operations on the Cartels. All people see is the word tariffs and don't think about the strategy behind them. Tariffs are a tool to apply pressure and gain leverage. Canada and Mexico would do the same if they could. So lets stop with the pearl clutching.

Half of Canada’s military equipment is unserviceable and not combat ready. Think about that. They are 20 billion dollars short on their military spending, are one of 8 NATO countries that have missed their required 2% GDP spending on defense, and have no plan to achieve their responsibilities to defend themselves and their alliance. What are they thinking poking the USA? That might co e back to haunt you when you need them.

Maybe I shouldn't like this but I do. Firstly, Canada has the luxury of not really needing to protect itself, they get to spend 3% what the US does on their military so they can focus on other things, like letting immigrants into the Country to price out the native Canadians and jailing people for misusing pronouns. Also, I want to see the US become slightly more isolationist, I'll happily pay more for US products. A tariff is paid buy the businesses who attempt to pass that cost down to the consumer. We need tariffs high enough that making things in the US makes more sense to these businesses.

Who knows what Mexico and Canada should do? If they are smart, they should let the Chinese and Russians set up military bases across their country. This will put the USA in check.

The regular people will suffer. Canada and Mexico will suffer more. The US economy is very big and dynamic. It will absorb tariffs. Trump's foreign policy is going to be very predatory. These trade wars have the potential to spill into other areas: Diplomatic and military in which Mexico and Canada cannot match the United States. The next four years are going to be turbulent.

It's only a matter of time before America pushes every country right into arms of The BRICS Nations. You can BET THE FARM if Canada and Mexico join BRICS China, Russia, and other countries will be invited to set up shop right on the Rio Grande in the South and Niagara Falls on the Northern border of the United States. America will LITERALLY BE SURROUNDED. If Panama feels threatened they will join BRICS for protection as will Greenland and every other nation on earth INCLUDING other international port locations. This is a disaster of BIBLICAL proportions to the US economy if the US loses the privilege to be served at just a couple of the strategically placed locations. This will hyper accelerate the balance of WORLD POWER from America to The BRICS GLOBAL MAJORITY and completely dismantle the influence of the UN. THEY WILL SANCTION AMERICA!!! Even Israel would abandon America once that happens because the money source would dry up in less than a couple years. BRICS now OUTGUNS America in GDP, PURCHASING POWER, AND MILITARY STRENGTH! They're are nearly 70% of the WORLD POPULATION (and growing) which means a draft is virtually GUARANTEED if ww3 erupts. China has just PUT THE WORLD ON NOTICE they are AHEAD BY GENERATIONS in AI, EV's, and technology FULL STOP! Canada, Mexico, Panama, Greenland, etc... have to be asking themselves is it worth it being Americas FOOLS???

American here, I hope this doesn't come to military conflict. Wait, does Canada have a military? Asking for someone who doesn't understand a free ride. Technically transgender was treated as a mental health issue now you do,what ever you do. No one is saying transgender ppl aren’t great and serve this country but when in the military it should be mission oriented complete the mission and then do what you want after.
