Fair trade should be fair trade not what people pick and choose

So much for free trade..?\nThe rich will get richer on both sides of the border, and workers will pay the bill.\n\nHowever my price per gallon did go down for now.

We are angry - with those people who ignorantly voted for Trump and those people who chose not to vote. Not the people who chose to vote democratically to remain a democratic country. We are clear that his real agenda is to use this trade war to attempt to coerce us into becoming the 51st state. For MANY reasons, we will not EVER become part of Trump’s America. We will collectively fight in any way possible, even though we know it will be tough, to prevent it. We also know that there is a bigger picture in that it’s clear that Trump is aligned with Putin in the push to destroy democracy globally in favour of an authoritarian world order that benefits only the ultra rich. Canada, the Ukraine, Greenland and Panama are stepping stones to that end goal.

This only hurts America, it's like what the Civil War did for the cotton trade, Canada will find other customers...\nSo will Mexico.\nAnd the only economy that will suffer is ours.\nDUMB.

This is not aggressive towards the US, it's not harsh. This a reasonable response from the leader of a nation that is the victim of Trump's declared trade-war. .. The important word is 'war', not 'trade'.

The real reason for the tariffs is because it has never been fair for the United States we pay more taxes for products in Canada in Mexico in Europe and it's always been like that and it's sad that it has to come to this in order for everybody to pay their fair share. That's the real reason. it'sad that countries are mad because they can't continue to rip off the United States. if there's fair trades there are no tariffs period

He also wants Greenland so he can secure the Northern passage.\nCanada is a country of the British Commonwealth, and it is interesting that Trudeau met with King Charles last week. Oddly enough, the British Prime Minister dodged questions from White House reporters on this topic.\nNow about the G7 forthcoming summit: Trump is a convicted felon and may not attend without the permission of the host country, which this year happens to be Canada!

No winners in a trade war? Guess it’s easy to say when the trade leans in your favor and it’s under attack to equal it out. Must not understand how reciprocal tariffs work. You tax us we tax you. We’re looking for fair trade. Your retaliation is welcoming the escalation of a trade war.

Here's an idea.. Tariffs are one thing, but what if we dropped Tariffs on Chinese electric cars! Gave preferred trading deals with everyone not USA and not Russian/Putin aligned. Carrots and Sticks..

Trump is acting destructive everywhere, where he engages. He is destroying his country because the prices in USA will go up quickly and long lasting and their stocks will fall dramatically. Inflation is USA will soar and get out of control. His policies are firing back on his own economy.\n\nCanada will have little ore none impact from these tarrifs, they will overcome this initial shock quickly and recover. They will find better partners and other ways to trade. But USA won't find anybody any more who is willing to deal with him, everybody will avoid engaging with his administration, because they are acting ruthless. Trump isn't considering the ends of his decisions and he obviously doesn't care because he is an irresponsible person without a concience. He won't be able to do harm to other countries than to his own, he only destroys USA, because they elected him and they are following him on his way so far. The opposition in USA will become louder and much more influential and Trump will lose more and more companions in his own party.

To my mind, Trump would have started the trade war with Canada no matter what measures Canada undertakes. My guess is the underlying motive behind the whole theatre is to somehow pressurize Canada into complete submission. Remember his comments about Canada should become the 51st state? I presume that in reality his eyes are set on Canada‘s vast resources and the potential north-west passage which would be a fantastic gift to his master Putin.

Trump snuggles up to Putin, who gives sanctuary to the hackers that extort millions from our businesses, medical facilities and government offices, while attempting to destroy our economy and those of our two largest trading partners. When can we say he is a Russian asset.

I don't like Trudeau, but this speech was great. Intelligent when he needed to be, simple when addressing Trump. A strong start to this trade war which as he said, we don't want. I hope along with Ford we hit America where it hurts. Maybe when their groceries skyrocket in price and their trucks are gone they'll really see where their votes went.\n\nI personally can attest I'm no longer buying DOOM: The Dark Ages, or games on Steam for that matter. I cancelled an order I had from Amazon, and I used to buy Reaper Miniatures, which I will no longer be doing. I'm not going to A&W, or any fast-food chain, or restaurant owned by Americans.

This trade war with these countries, are ridiculous but only to line, and continue to line the pockets of billionaires like Elon Musk, Donald Trump, and the tech family..... Trump has tried to stay close to Putin, but no one asks why?? We're not at war with Russia? He's been wanting the wealth Putn has every since he, and his wife visited in 1983.. Trump, needed an education in government before he ran for any office, it's laws, etc... he's embarrassing when he speaks, calling other government officers stupid, and the like, like a child in school!! Why doesn't someone fact check Donald Trump vs Joe Biden with the things he's done vs the things Donald did while in office, as Biden knowing the law vs Trump as what he could do as a US President, not running this country like he runs his business!! I'm Georgia now, and still wouldn't voted for that man....!!!

Who cares? Seriously Of course he's upset. Canada relies heavily on the U.S., with about 75% of its exports going to America, making us a major contributor to their GDP. Instead of making other countries richer, we should focus on manufacturing and building here at home. This would keep more money circulating in the U.S., boosting economic growth and strengthening our own GDP. A stronger domestic economy means more jobs, higher wages, and greater financial stability for Americans. Regardless of who’s president, we need fair trade policies that benefit the U.S. just as much as our partners.
