Im Canadian and while the tariffs are gonna suck, I completely understand why Trump is doing it. This very same thing of people flying-in then crossing the border was happening in Mexico during the four years of Joe Biden. During the Democratic debates Biden invited everyone who was an asylum seeker to surge the border to the U.S. So Biden is to blame for sure but so is Trump. Why? because he placed an economic embargo on Venezuela which then drove all the Venezuelans, Colombians to the Mexican border.

I used to think Pres. Trump was being too hard on Canada then I got a look at the tariffs they impose on our goods. Some as high as 250%. I think Trump just wants a level playing field and a lot of help from Canada on the border. I think Poilievre feels the need to talk tough in response but I think he really wants the same things as Trump. I hope Poilievre becomes PM because he's conservative and I think he'll work well with Trump as they're both conservative nationalists.

With Trump running this country why would anyone want to even come here? I thought Canada was doing better at their borders as people I know going through their get such hassles. Weird. Comparing the US to Canada, I notice we have more freedoms here in Canada in spite of the high cost of living, and because of the freedoms we have more solidarity to call Canada our home. We don’t pack a piece when we leave home to run errands, we don’t whirl the maple leaf, we don’t adorn our buildings with the maple leaf, and we don’t wear maple leaf clothing. We don’t do any of these things because we don’t need to, because we are not paranoid, and that is why we don’t have the level of violence that is in the US. This land is our home, and it has always been peaceful for the most part, until now that Trump is touting threats of taking Canada as the 51st state. He wants Canada because we have the natural resources that the US needs. He will build a direct line to Alaska. He will drill all over Canada wherever he wants. He will kick Canadians off their land to drill. Trump will do whatever he wants because he’s a business man. He does not take others into consideration, just his own plans to meet his own selfish gains. What Trump is doing are illegal manoeuvres and he must be stopped. There has got to be a limit within legal guidelines to stop this insanity.

I did not vote for Trump, but I am okay with deportations. There is a right way to do things, but Im not sure if this is it. They are criminals, they broke the law; criminals are handcuffed. This is how I can justify it, but Im honestly wavering.

As a trans person seeking to escape trump, what is the best course of action? I'm trying the proper route through the immigration process but with how rapidly things are declining in the states for queer people so is it better to take the asylum route or wait the process. I'm personally done with the states and have 0 desire to stay here or ever come back, however what shows that the exact thing happening here wont move it's way up north in the future?

All you Trump supporters refused to comprehend that only people who are black and bronwn being deported. Immigrants come from all over the world. I have spent quite a bit of time in USA and I always find my experience split. For the most part the people and places are great. As a filmmaker I have shot in NYC, California, Mississippi to name a few. The people were always accommodating and friendly. One time a gentlemen and his wife that allowed us to film in his property would bring us hot chocolate at night, then offered to shoot anyone who got in our way. I was also filming in the desert in 2009 and I almost got shot in the face by a group of police officers that charged in guns out and tempers raging, before realizing that we had film permits and were scheduled to be on site. Only to have the crew say that if I was black they would have shot first and asked questions later. As tensions rise between Canada and USA with Trump's trade war and attempt to ANNEX Canada I think I will do my filming in other parts of the world, if not in Canada. I have plenty of American friends and know a lot of Canadians that live in the US. I just hope things settle between our two nations soon. Where do you live? European leaders should learn a thing or two from Trump.

These Indian illegal aliens are no different from Central and South American illegal aliens who were deported the same ways. These Indian illegal aliens committed crimes when they crossed the US border illegally, and just like anyone that were deported using military planes, these illegal aliens would be transported on shackles and cuffed. It's the standard procedure applied to all, even for American citizens. If the Indian government is upset about the whole thing, then they can send private planes to pick up their uninvited citizens back to their country. Plain and simple!!

What I don’t get is America isn’t against immigrants coming to America (the legal way) but people want to protest coming here illegally and are upset people are getting deported because they didn’t come the legal way. I work with a ton of guys that came to America the legal way and are all for deporting the illegals back to where they came from. The legal immigrants work hard and pay taxes and illegals don’t pay taxes they get benefits and haven’t paid their dues like the legal immigrants had to do to get in. Taking care of illegals takes away from Americans getting the help they need and we have to pay taxes. If they built America and are so proud to be from Mexico then why don’t you build Mexico up like you say you did in America. If it’s so great why are you coming to America illegally and running from your country. Do you think protesting and blocking streets and highways is going to get you anywhere with Trump and do you think your going to win the American people over by pissing them off doing stupid things like blocking highways and Streets. I've been to the states many times! My opinion is that Americans focus on wallets more than social issues! Americans care more about their own circumstances than working together to help the whole of the population. No one likes to pay more taxes but they are a nessesary evil to be able to pay for health care, public security, and so on! So sure Americans don't pay as much for some things but pay more for things that they shouldn't pay! Health care is something that is very important, how can you be expected to pay for health services if you can't work cause you're ill, doesn't make any sence! Even Americans leave thier country because of what it's becoming! 50- 100 years ago everyone wanted to immigrate to America or Canada, now a days everyone is immigrating here to Canada. Should I have to explain why! It's sad but the U.S.A isn't what it used to be. Mostly because of corporate greed and the influence it has on the gouvernment! Just look at how Trump is running things. A country isn't a bussiness, it's a people, without the people a country is nothing. Too bad Trump and his billionaire butt licking friends can't see that!

I am not really a fan of the tariffs Trump is imposing like lightning with Canada. I do think they should stop the walk thought to Us boarder security. I think they should however be an equal partner in securing their boarder. I don’t believe it is as much of a fentanyl thing but maybe I don’t know enough details in that.
