Government sells out it's people. Foreign policy is downright evil. Health insurance system is incentivized to deny you care. Religious fundamentalism. Insane gun culture that literally results in more mass shootings per year than days. Supreme Court actively trying to take away your rights. One of the top presidential candidates is an outright fascist with a cultlike following...... You couldn't pay me enough to move there. There are third world countries that are more safe and have better conditions if you're poor. I even avoid visiting there if I can help it. And I previously lived there for 3 years. I wouldn't send my worst enemy there. The country is insane.

I'm retired, so work wouldn't be an issue. I have health issues so for that alone I wouldn't. If I was healthy and independently wealthy I would move somewhere with better weather. I'm a hermit so I just avoid people anyways. LOL

The USA is free while Canada is rapidly becoming a third world slave state. If you're enterprising, Canada's governments will crucify you. Move to one of the red states: Idaho, Texas, Florida. Avoid the Democrat states for sure. And get a gun. Live free or die.

The fact that you have to carefully pick where you live to avoid gun violence isn't normal to a non-american. It shows that gun culture is too strong in that country.

Truly wealthy people can find ways to avoid taxes in both countries. I will say that the U.S. does seem to have a far better choice of regional and international food culture, in spite of the corporate fast food dominance.

True of anywhere, but here the choice would be about preferences and afordability, NOT to avoid gun violence or shunning because of political views.\nThere is no where in Canada I could move to where gun violence would be a big factor to consider (we have rough places, and gun violence, but STRICT gun laws). Let me give you some perspective. In 2019 the USA had 37,038 gun related deaths. (No other causes of death- JUST all gun death). In Canada, in 2019, our death by illegal means (which does include suicide, as it is illegal) was 5,874. (That is for ALL types of homicide, not just guns). And the government was shocked by the increase that year and tightened gun restrictions further.\nYou talk about having certain States more Red or Blue. We aren't bi- partisan, so our politics are a melting pot. You might have people you disagree with everywhere you go, but you will also always find an equal group who thinks similar (unless your an extremist). And even the people who think different will generally agree to dis- agree. There is next to nowhere in Canada where your political views would get you run out of town. \n\nYou are USED to thinking like an American. (Fair, your American; I think like a Canadian) Trust me, as a Canadian, there are aspects of the accepted American culture (your country's way of life) that is boarderline terrifying to people here.

But please, avoid Canada. We're messed up over here.

Nope. It is far far down the list of countries I would possibly move to. At least 50th. Freedom, healthcare, safety, and avoidance of America's hate and fear are at the top the list of why.

The USA is ok to visit but I’m even avoiding that for the last number of years. I guess I’m just not ready to see firearms on people in a line up at a store; knowing that many others are (legally) carrying concealed weapons. There are many other countries that reflect my values on individuals (women, LGBTQ etc), that would be a second choice after Canada. And of course, the healthcare (or lack thereof). I can’t imagine being in a country that doesn’t support the health of all of their citizens and not just those who contribute to the financial health of big business.

Firing an employee in Ontario is very unexpensive in comparison to other countries. The Labor law is in favour of the employer. The law require to pay 1 week per each year worked. It’s up to the employer to give something additional (severance) to avoid being sued by the employee. Canadian companies don’t hire immigrants not because they are risk adverse but because they don’t consider the education and experience of immigrants good enough. The Mentality of Canadian Managers is that don’t need to develop people because if someone is not meeting his\\her expectations, they can replace that person easily because the cost is almost negligeble. Those are seldom legit. If the data comes from a study, always look to see who paid for it. And how large the sample size was; how were the participants selected? Many countries purport themselves to be better at some thing than another country. I hear a lot of Canadians. Criticize other countries for their pollution, or CO2 emissions and oil production. Interestingly enough, Canada is in the top three largest CO2 emitted is due to the oil and gas industry Per capita than most other countries. So, if people are concerned about the environment, they should understand where Canada really stands.\n\nAdditionally, I think it could be important for you to talk about how expensive things are in Canada. Canadians pour over the border into the United States for better housing to go to Costco and grocery stores and shop for clothes and large appliances, and to avoid high taxation. They also come to the United States for better schools, better work conditions and higher pay. In fact, the joke is people immigrate to Canada as a steppingstone to eventually immigrate to the United States, which is why Canada has a big problem keeping educated talented people.\n\nSafety nets for society certainly have their importance however, socialist policies do not work the best. Stupid Politicians. They should implement dual interest rates: pump mortgage interest rates to at least 7%, and have corporate interest rates set to 2-3%. And, set property tax to at least 50% for those whose accumulated real estate is valued over 1M~1.5M. I left China to avoid a brewing housing crisis and ironically I now live in Canada ?. I have seen first hand how a blind government can be overly dependent on real estate because it does generate a huge revenue in the short term. But most short sighted politicians failed to understand that the housing market is similar to the stock market, the value of houses can rise but it's just a bubble.
