I'm heartbroken for us all. Blame Canada (and Mexico), which is an artificial excuse. This allows him to impose tariffs. Putin wants this, and trump is his lapdog.

Canada (and many other countries) spent decades supporting the maintenance of US hegemony. Look what it got us? To a position where we're pretty much greatly dependent on, and at the mercy of the US. We need to invest more in our own country and make our own products. We should also trade with other countries regardless of what the US thinks of those countries. Trump wants Canada to put tariffs on China in the attempt to further impede that country's economic growth so the US will remain the economic hegemony. Never mind that a trade war with China would put Canada in an even worse position. Given the current events, I say we trade with China even more!

As a Canadian I dislike the tarrifs and think they are harmful on both sides. What is keeping me awake at night is what we all fear is truly behind this. A plan to weaken Canada so that the US teamed up with Russia can take what they want from us just as they are trying to do to Ukraine. Elbows up Canada! ??

I am Canadian, and I want to speak to the USA, as a concerned citizen who valued the relationship that we once had between our two countries: please realize that we do NOT want to declare this as any form of “attack”, that these are solely defensive measures against your current administration’s lack of respect towards us as a people and as a country. \n\nPlease rest assured that we KNOW that not all of you voted for Trump, that there are those of you who realize what your current president is truly doing and do not support it. This is NOT about fentanyl. This NOT about money and how much each country was giving whom. We had a respectable trade deal that we were following, previously signed by Trump. We have always had a positive relationship together, business-wise and friendship-wise. Please also realize that, once your administration is no longer in control of our narratives in such a destructive manner, or it gets replaced by one that reverses this destructive policy, we will definitely reconsider our former relationship and we will work towards rebuilding it. \n\nIt is unfortunate for both sides here. We are aware of that. But “Canada Strong” is our way to remain forever a sovereign and free nation. Nothing more, nothing less. Always remember that.

Boo boo, don’t care. It’s time that the countries we support show some love back. In our time of need we are getting ghosted but everyone expects America to just to attention when there is a conflict or someone needs money. No one cares about our financial needs or our battle with the cartels and illegal immigration. Then screw them. I am among those who started pushing back before trump took office, many are. We’re watching legislation and countering it. Generally, Americans are not great when it comes to hitting the pavement and letting our voices be heard, but we’re getting much better. It makes sense that you don't want this as you have been ripping us off for many years. All we want is free trade. What we have gotten is lopsided trade. FAFO. The USA has a strong leader now. We have plenty of options to fulfill our needs. A little bit of extra cost is worth it to bring our industry and jobs back here and rebalance our trade agreements. Canada was running a fentenyl superlab which manufactured enough to kill off its entire population two-fold! We don't want that trafficked through our border into the USA. How many outcomes are possible from Trump's tariffs? What does Trump expect from the tariffs? Why would Trump want to isolate the US? Who benefits from any of the possible outcomes of the tarrifs or the US isolation?

As an American I want to apologize and encourage Canada to stay strong. Remember there are millions of us here in America that do not want this either and want nothing more than for this to all be a bad dream.
