Knee surgery comparison is a poor comparison. You chose self inflicted medical down time. The individual requiring knee surgery did not. You took down time because changing your gender identity was something you felt you needed, which isn't putting the service of your country first. I don't choose myself over my people - period. I don't believe that is the merit of a good leader. I don't believe the excellence in your skill set comes from an inability to establish personally what gender you want to be. Results in combat and protecting what's right in the air and on the battlefield have little to do with wanting to be a woman or a man. Get the job done, be a silent operator. It seems to me, that you care more about your gender than you do about your service to your country. I hope in the end, you get everything your heart desires. I truly do. But I hope you recognise that the world isn't fair. I don't think this piece by CNN is more important than covering what's going on in the lives of those suffering that need the air time more than this individual. Further more, the reporter - she just looks like an angry woman who isn't getting what she wants. She doesn't appear to be unbiased at all. It's not a good reflection for the CNN. There is no question anyone can be qualified to serve. My problem has to do with a society that feels entitled enough to fix nature’s alleged “mistakes”. There is no such thing as being born in the wrong body. That is a social invention. There always were effeminate men and masculine women. However, today we feel entitled to push the envelope because some plastic surgeons can make a decent looking pair of boobs but at the end of the day these gender transitions are social and medical experiments. A man who thinks he is a woman is like an anorexic woman who thinks she is fat. It is a mental disorder and should be treated as such. Offering gender affirming surgery to a person is like offering liposuction to someone suffering from anorexia. It is feeding a delusion. Our society is very sick and delusional.

Recruitment is not down because transgender people/DEI is not allowed. It is down because the opposite is happening. DEI/Alphabet people are being shoed into places where they do not belong over more qualified other people. This process of putting less qualified people into positions endangers everyone else. Just like female lesbian firefighters in LA who are not strong enough to carry a person to safety think this is the fault of the victims they might encounter and not be able to save. This lowers morale and affects recruitment. If a transistor can meet the current requirements, they should be allowed to finish their time, but nobody else gets a free pass.

I think the trans issue has a lot of complications that really don't need to play out in the military. I accept the body God gave me and I can't imagine what people go through who can't. It's concerning though that while they're fighting their internal fights it may project on to others. Just because this one man didn't doesnt mean everyone is like him. No matter what people think transgenders are not respected by their subordinates and there has to be respect to be an effective leader.
