Corporations have built huge monopolies and are gouging Canadians, and investors are buying up every home/condo they can, instead of letting average people buy them up. It also sounds like you're arguing that the government hasn't done enough to stop it. \n\nCanada certainly has its share of issues, but I don't agree with the tone of this, which is mostly Conservative Party talking points. If they were running things, they'd have let mergers go on and signed bad trade deals with countries, just like they did between 2006 and 2015. The Liberals have made a lot of mistakes, but they also weathered the largest financial and health crisis in the last hundred years. I'm not sure what the fix is, but arguing that the Conservatives would have done any better is specious.

Listen I don’t mind if THEY FINISH their education. The issue is people come to Canada and DROP out after a semester or two and do not finish their education voiding their visa and contract however we allow them to stay. \n That is the real issue if you aren’t helping the economy your a burden on the economy. There IS NOT a lack of housing in canada , there IS ONLY an affordability problem along with far too much immigration by volume and time frame . Our services and infrastructure (ie; transit services , health care , employment , realisticly affordable housing , finances , etc .) are no where near adequate to accomodate canadians even before the over populating of foreigners . They have been coming here and buying up all the affordable housing during , and post pandemic , with offers far above listed or fair market values , to push owners to sell without question or thought . Following this they stack multiples into these homes illegally and against code , to be able to take up all employment at wages that canadians can't survive on ,forcing them out of employment , homes or both . Once stable and trained to know that business operation , one of their people buy the business and no longer hire any canadians . YES ! TRUE FACT!! How is this accepted ? This is something we could never get away with anywhere .... Selling your country , one property at a time , is only absolute lunacy . They pay top dollar and care nothing about the money , because being that they own most of the businesses , they will get it all back from you within about a years time by raising prices ultimately to do so . Canada is not the same 20 years ago. Right now, there is crime, many refugees with bad habits and manners. It is impossible to get a job and buy a house nowadays, housing is NOT affordable. 100K with 40% pay taxes and a house is 1M? even if you want to buy an appartement, 500K is not affordable. Many people are leaving for this reason, cannot afford living there and have a family period!

Canada’s statistics are no different than Australia, USA and France for example in terms of homelessness and home ownership. When these Indians moved here, they are not adapting themselves to Canadian culture, instead, they are forcing Canada to adapt their Indian culture. There are also a lot bad habits Indians have brought here to Canada with them. One day I was buying food in a local store, and these Indians who ran the store wanted to charge me extra (like 15-20% on top of labeled prices and taxes). I said no, they said I have to buy it because they can't put the food back. Then I demanded they honor the prices the items were labeled, and they said no again while trying to lie by stating the extra was part of tax. Then suddenly one of them snatched the money I was holding and trying to put in the register before I could react. Lucky I was faster and grabbed my money back. I left right after, but now when I think about it, I should've probably called the police there because that was literally attempted robbery. These Indians got no honesty in running businesses, and whenever a local business is taken over by them, it would be downhill for that business due to ethics and honesty issues. They also tend to only hire their fellow Indians, which is completely unfair to local Canadians. For example, I've worked with Filipinos before, they are decent people and they give everyone a fair chance during hiring regardless ethnicities. However Indians tend to only care for their own, and that is absolutely destroying Canadian societies. This is Canada, Canadians should be first, then immigrants, and lastly foreign workers/students.

I moved to Canada since 2007. Overall, I am happy with Canada. I think a lot of new immigrants has unrealistic expectations of coming to Canada. I started renting a room in a house sharing the bathroom and kitchen with other tenants. But look at the new immigrants today, they all start living in nice condos. Condo rental price back in 2008 is also expensive compared with the income level back then. Sure, today’s market is more expensive, but what is not? But looking at the stock market, you don’t expect to buy Amazon stock at 2008 price level, are you? If Toronto is too expensive, then move to more affordable locations, eg. PEI.

I'm 20 and I'm doing fine in Toronto. I rent and buy food, clothes and have fun. But starting a family and having even a single child in Canada is nearly impossible. With our salaries, inflation and insane house prices young families will never be able to buy a house. Having a child in a rental sounds so miserable, living at the mercy of the landlord not knowing when they decide to kick you out. After paying for rent, bills, food and other basic stuff you have no money to invest in your child's future :( I don't want to life a pathetic life having 3-4 jobs for my kid to become a cashier with no education. ADVICES to some students: Do not come to Canada!! Why come here??? It is free to study in France and Germany anyway so why waste your money in Canada or Australia!!! Save your money and invest it in your homeland to start a business or buy a land or build a house!!! That said, the bas supposition isn't wrong. The bubble we've been sitting on for 20 or so years has completely burst. As someone born and raised in the Toronto area, it's impossible for me to afford to own a house or apartment here on a teacher's salary. Even rent pushes me to the limit unless I want to live in a... less than nice area. I'm living hand to mouth and enjoying the benefits of living in a 'developed' country less. Here's why:\n\n1. Wages aren't really even close to keeping up with the cost of living. The first tick upwards a bit. The second just keeps rising on the back of housing, food, amenities, and inflation: the four horsemen.\n\n2. Our grocery cabal ruthlessly raise prices whenever we look away, and their lobbyists are all ensconced within the leadership of our three major parties, particularly the Conservatives (so if anyone thinks that electing them will help, they're in for a nasty surprise).\n\n3. We're experiencing 'labour shrinkflation': increasing duties are downloaded onto workers and more is expected: more productivity, more availability (almost 24/7 in some jobs), and higher qualifications. Meanwhile, real wages are decreasing relative to living cost, more positions are 'contract', which is basically a way for employers to not have to give you benefits, and job security is tenuous for a lot of people.\n\n4. Houses are being bought by investors and not owners. Foreign entities are money laundering. Meanwhile, the middle class is pretty much evaporating as he speaks. The NDP keep talking about this in a pretty real way, for what it's worth, but Jagmeet Singh is giving off an increasing vibe of just being another fat cat politician beneath his rhetoric these days. Also, third-party trolls and screeching conservatives try to bury him on social media whenever he speaks... a lot more than other leaders as well, oddly. I wonder why? Oh yeah, the Greens exist and there's Quebec and the conspiracy theory party.\n\n\nUltimately, what we're experiencing is the revenge of the feudal system. Instead of paying rents to your lord and doing labour on the land for him whenever commanded to, you pay rent to your landlord now and go to work even when you're sick or when work hours are over because you have no union protection or are working 'on contract'. Unless we want to live in the armpit of nowhere, 95% of us are going to be wage slaves living hand-to-mouth, not owning our own property, and working to please our corporate overlords if current trends continue unchecked. While some of Canada's problems are unique, I fear that most aren't. As for me, I'm headed to the 'armpit of nowhere' where I can at least have a ghost of a chance of affording life.

My only thoughts is Now a days, ONLY INDIAN's are hired everywhere, such as Tim hortons,security,best buy Banks,Senior Care agency,100 % ALL Canadian Business Sectors are ALL INDIANS, where are the Diverse culture,when only INDIANS are hired. I like visiting the US, but don't want to move there. I like the people however cities are not safe. My cousin told me that his small town had 110 murders (WV) . I had just visited Montreal. They have 4.5 million people and had 28 murders that year and were complaining that it's getting crazy. We live longer than Americans and deaths at birth are less. If I had to move to the US, I'd buy a gun. In Canada, to protect my home, I just put on the outside light and lock the door. However, I usually forget to lock the door when I go to bed.

I'll tell you the Indian's secret to how they mass migrated so easy. ( I don't mean this in any sort of negative way. ) This was told to me by a friend I work with who's entire family came to Canada from India. So what his family did and many, many others did was... In India they all pool all there $ to 1 family member, that family member gets his full citizenship to Canada then moves here. Soon as possible he will buy a business, then they start brining family members over 1 by 1 through work visas and they all work on getting there citizenships, they all work together and purchase a house. Once they get that house, one family member stays there and the rest buy another and they all work to pay it off, then just keep repeating until all the family members have there own house. meanwhile they are all still working together at there business and start bringing close friends from India via work visas then it all just repeats over and over.

Its not only canada. All around the world people are struggling with that shiting life we're living. We are stucked. No money to buy a house, or anything. No pespective to get more money. Even with a good degree and speaking 3 languages.

You are wrong about the U.S, Canada is a reflection of the U.S. hypercapitakism and liberal policies. The U.S market are ruled by oliglarchy and monopolies who buy off politicians to pass policies to further enrich them. Market share is owned by just a handful of corporations.

Canada does need lots off immigrants to stave off a demographic collapse. But immigrantion means housing issues. And it's not like the US or Europe where most of the immigrants will be on the lower-side of the skilled labor pool: the average immigrant to Canada will be better educated and have more earning potential than the average native. They're going to make more and buy better houses. That WILL cause social problems, no matter what you think of the issue.

Good to know it's not just my country. We elected the same prime minister four times (or is the fifth now? idk, i don't count it at this point and don't follow politics) and the housing and food prices are as bad as in Canada. You can't even dream about buying a house without a loan, or without working for years in Austria or Germany. Regarding the food prices, I don't know the exact numbers, but I remember that when I was 18 (in 2018) one kilogram of bread was 0.77€. Now it's 2.32€. like wtf really.

Canada has one of the best education in the world and almost no high tech companies or industry at all. We had Bombardier before and that company got destroyed by our smart politicians. Yeah buy gay and trans people face less discrimination in Canada

I'm born in the UK to Serbian parents, but grown up in Norway so I've seen three different cultures in my life all at once. I always liked Canada for being diverse because then I wouldn't have to switch between being English, Serbian or Norwegian, I could be more me because I am basically multicultural. For years I've idealised Canada and it wasn't until just two weeks ago that I got to visit and see for myself what Canada is like. I was in Toronto and also in Vancouver visiting a family that moved there from the UK I hadn't seen since I was a kid. I loved the nature (Especially Vancouver my god!) and the people, but I learned about how extremely expensive housing in Canada is to the point that it would be hard to make ends meet just renting a place let alone buying a house. Also how immigration is out of control and those who do come to Canada are disproportionately from one country being India rather than many different, which is not good for maintaining diversity. This is something I saw having lived most of my two weeks in Mississauga just south of the airport.\n\nI hope you guys finally get someone better in the next election, because I have more hopes for Canada than I do for the UK.
