Just after reading comments from some Germans here, it really feels like that racism, chauvinism and zero-sum thinking are just a part of their mentality. If we need or require the affordability equation to be balanced, we need to deal with both sides of the equation. Furthermore, and regardless of the issue of foreign students, and their spouses, the lack of offordability will not significantly improve, as the supply is the accumulation of many years of deficit, due to bureaucratic, regulatory reasons, and the lacking, or the deficiency in housing policy, at all government levels, and all related taxation, budgeting, financing, and general economic policy adopted , or omitted in dealing with inflation, interest rate manipulation by the Banque of Canada, inadequate competion issues, investment in main street, instead of the Wall of Bay Street, political sanctions, and tariffs, etc..This immigration issue needs to consider the demographic, and labor needs of Canada, while in the same time, or in tandem, prepare for the required housing supply, and other needs, and requirements in term of reviewing the rules and procedures, pertaining to integrating the professional immigrants in their professions instead of excluding them from professional organizations such the medical, and the ingeneering, professions and so on. Many of such professional resources are driving cabs in Toronto, Vancouver,and Montreal. Developed countries of west are facing problems like low marriage rate , high divorce , low fertility rate , depression, loneliness leading to number of pet dogs equaling number of humans because they can’t tolerate living with spouse or other human beings … developed countries create 5 times more carbon emission per citizen and create twice of thrice the amount of waste compared to developing counties like India.. India grows its good 80% while Canada gets most food imported from USA Mexico and South America, buying lost of diesel for transport of these food. India won’t be able to have any land left if everyone become rich and builds biggest individual houses instead of affordable small apartments that are multi story building using less land.

Canada needs to immediately tax them an additional 40% from the paychecks of all temporary non permanent foreign workers and international students who are currently working in Canada. Taxing the people who are non Canadian residents wirking in Canada with a much higher tax rate than is taxed on Canadian Citizens is a solution for Canada to make money to support rising numbers of unemployed Canadian born citizens.

In the last ten years our small town in BC has gone from 23000 to 34000 residence without proper housing. It started with the Max store now every convenience store and fast food restaurant is run by Indian people. No jobs for our youth and homelessness rates have skyrocketed !??

Don't conflate hating Indians and an obviously unsustainable immigration rate. I'm a natural born Canadian, I'm pro-immigration. So long as it is managed and targeted at areas of need for the country. I never painted all Indians with the same brush when the food bank and Wasaga incidents happened. When you bring in 1.2M a year, you will get some bad actors. However, that's the issue, that many people, coming over in such a short period of time, the infrastructure and social safety net cannot support everyone. It's unfortunate, but necessary that immigration rate is reduced and reformed.

I always wanted to visit India but based on the behaviour I have seen by indian newcomers has made me change my mind. Even driving is worse here with all of the aggressive drivers bringing up insurance rates.
