Well, the whole world is going through this post-pandemic crisis with cost of living rising everywhere and immigrants come here with this wishful thinking that Canada has somehow escaped it and realize they were in a big dream.\n\nSorry that you have been forced to face reality but it is pretty much the same across the world. High cost of living is a for sure sign that they don't want so many immigrants living off of the system.\nPeople should start considering fixing there own family situations in there home countries.\nCanada has already proven to be a good country for immigrants but it's not that go to hub for immigrants to exploit.\nThe work has been done.\nCOVID was scary when I was there. I whole city shut down it looked like a ghost town. That was a for sure indication it was time for immigrants to return to their home countries.\nThat was the time when the city was offering to buy out old businesses alot of people took the money and went back to Portugal and Italy.\nTimes have changed\nIt's not a housing crisis that's a lie.\nI grew up in Canada they built thousands and thousands of houses out of factories people just started to like the homes and communities the city built.\nPlus is was foreigners from the middle east that were investing in condo developments.\nAccept the fact that families are raising their children in those homes for 25++.\nThey don't owe an immigrant the house they built.\nOf course it's expensive because it's not for you.

I visited Toronto in 1986 and I've had friends from that city. The whole world is changing and facing the issues you mentioned in your video. I had lived in Seattle before its decline. I'm in Pittsburgh temporarily and I had lived recently in Erie, PA. They all seem to be facing the same situation--housing crisis, homelessness, and crime. And in Pittsburgh, limited social services.\n\nHowever, I'm sad to see a socialist country such as Canada suffer with these ills. If a socialist country can't take care of its people, there's little home for a capitalist country like the US.

We re seeing more and more immigrants newly arrived who become disillusioned with Canada and decided to move out of Canada permanently due to many factors, i.e, cost of living, low salaries, housing shortages and sky high mortgages....

I lived my whole life in Canada until 2018 when I moved away. Leaving Canada was the best thing I ever did. I miss some aspects, but the country is now an unsustainable playground for the rich.

I think first of all, we have to understand that we had been living in a peaceful world for the past few decades in contrast with the world just after world war two, and every young people had been living in comfort during their whole life. The last few years had changed, and if the world leaders didn't control the situation very carefully, we might be living in a world war not surprisingly. The inflation we are having is worldwide as a result of the pandemic, and because we have this rising inflation, the world had changed, it would have been worst if there is a world war going on at the moment. So this high cost of living is happening everywhere, and some places are even worst if they are having a war. If you think Canada is bad, name a place that is better than Canada and live there. I doubt if you can find another place better than Canada even with all your complaints. Do more research and you will appreciate that you are one of the lucky ones living in Canada. If you do not agree, I invite you to make another video telling me your findings. We are just in a bad cycle, just wait till the cycle ends, and we will see the sun shining again.

This is pretty funny. I'm Canadian and my best friend is an economist working for the government on demographic issues full time. Just has an FYI canada has seen its highest immigration rate in the past 50 years last year. I can also see and feel all the immigrants moving in the job market. I'm not so sure why those videos keep being produced. This country is not perfect but it's better than many other places in the world. For example, canada is barely affected by climate change because we already have resilient infrastructure. When it comes to housing it's not so much that the governement does not allow for more building than the fact that it's hard to build affordable homes because the homes in canada require a lot of work due to the nature of the climate. (Has a trained carpenter and GC I know.) It's also very far from all of the world's chaos. All those emerging wars will affect Europe directly but all we get are some small economic backlashes. Anyhow, I've been living here for my whole 31 years of life and I've enjoyed the place and its peace. What I dislike is the cold and the lack of sun. I hope this message helps people having a fairer POV.

Let's keep Canada a secular country! \nMuslims are doing their best to change Canada into an Islamic caliphate praying in the middle of busy streets blocking traffic so people can't get to long waited for doctor's appointments or business appointments. Also (though i'm Christian not Muslim) i get the whole not having access to your faith environment too. Canada is a super secular country and people who take...well just about any serious religion seriously feel that way. Even with visibility and feeling safe...remember when Churches were being burnt a few years ago? I was legitimately afraid some of the Churches in my area would be subject to arson and i often feel like I have to keep my faith secret. again...i'm not Muslim...i'm Christian and yeah, I feel this way.

Great video! Here's my 2 cents: The Social scene is a Western thing. Difucuty meeting friends is a well-documented thing about Vancouver. I think it's because Vancouver has three large ethnic monocultures, and they're all preoccupied with money. West Coast is lifestyle over the social scene. At the same time, Toronto is much more diverse culturally and economically, and culturally, it has a more outgoing social norm. The housing crunch is partially driven by supply and demand, at least not here in greater Vancouver, where I can see hundreds of brand-new condominiums and townhomes empty or for sale. The real issue is the lack of affordable housing. I've lived in Canada my whole life, and im also considering leaving.

I left in 2006 for better opportunities. The city was declining back then but slowly. Come back for a visit every few years and astonished how awful getting around the city is and just how little the city has to offer. It mirrors the decay of Canada as a whole.

To be fair, a lot has changed during and after COVID. It's not only in Toronto or Canada in general. The whole world is experiencing inflation. We have 2 major wars . Crime rate everywhere has gone up too.

This is my 13th year in Canada, I am so sad to see the change, I really hope it will become a better country again with Trudeau stepping down. But we also have to be fair that there are not many countries become better since COVID. Many of you leaving or planning to leave Canada are more like rich country retirees taking advantage of the wage and currency differences between rich and poor countries. So let’s put it this way, if many of you have not worked your whole life here in Canada, will you still have a quality of life in your home countries, such as Southeast Asia or South America? I doubt majority of the population there is make a good money and having great work life balance, and everyone there could afford a decent retirement life. what is more close to nowadays reality is people coming here and hoping they could have a better paid job and settle down here, but most of them found out they are struggling to even maintain their normal life in this country, so they left. For those who came years ago, they made a saving which may not be enough to support a good retirement life here, but is more than enough in other countries, they also choose to flee. Then those successful immigrants will stay here with the option to travel anywhere they want. My son's classmate's grandfather immigrated to Canada long time ago who later become a well known cardiologist and was rewarded as one of the top 25 immigrants Award, all three daughters are now specialists too. I really hope Canada could rise again!

Canada is not one place - 2 nd biggest country in the world in area, with 13 totally different province's, one area code in the GTA has more population then Western Canada, so one cant paint a single brush stroke to talk about Canada. At present time the whole world is going through changes, look at USA - globalization is changing, look at England dropping out of EU. One cant just say Canada like its one place, Quebec, BC and Alberta have nothing in common, three different countries not one. Different issue's , cultures and languages. Even our first Nations have different cultures, the Haida are not the Mohawks. Its the same with each province. Globalization has reached its current course, right now the Chip market is changing, and so is the whole world. Its not just a Canada issue but a global issue

Watching this coming from a 3rd world country just reminds me of how privileged people in 1st world countries are. \nYes, people have all the right to be mad/upset about all of these issues because everyone in the world should have access to a good life, but truth is: covid fucked up the entire world and all of these problems are problems 3rd worlders have been dealing with their whole lives and honestly? You tend to get high taxes in places with free health care. Many use Canada as a bridge country to the US. In the US health care is very expensive. Many companies you would work for offer free health care plans for single individuals ( if you have a family it costs a lot ) but those plans have such high deductibles and co-pays that you can't afford to use it. Most US health care plans have very high deductibles ad co-pays making it extremely expensive. Then when you retire and start getting social security which is not much money by the way, you also get Medicare which also has a monthly charge around $150 mth. It doesn't cover everything. It does not cover dental or vision. It does not cover all your hospital stay which tends to occur as you get older. Most Americans end up having to sell their homes that they spent a lifetime paying off, to pay medical bills and end up on Medicaid which is the free last resort medical care and end up in a nursing home to end your days. Most nursing homes are bad. You end up in a 2 person room, in diapers, up for meals and back to bed, diaper changed 2 times per shift and one shower per week done by whomever in the communal shower room. Shelves until you die, which many do very quickly out of despair. After working your whole life that is the prize folks in the US.

I think that a lot of people who seem to hate Canada in this comment section are either from Toronto and Vancouver, the two most expensive cities in the country, but these two cities don't represent Canada as a whole. \n\nPersonally I live in a smaller city in Québec (Saguenay) and life quality is super good, there are a lot of job opportunities and housing is very cheap, and it is an amazing place for outdoor lovers\n\nI saw many comments saying that the US is cheaper than Canada... Those people simply don't compare what's comparable. If you compare Toronto with comparable cities in the US like New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, Toronto is in fact MUCH cheaper. If I compare my city with comparable cities in the US, well it turns out that Saguenay is much cheaper\n\nSo before wanting to move to another country, you can simply think about moving within Canada. If however you hate winter, then there's no reason to stay here ?

This is what I have been hearing from people living in Canada but then I wonder what about rest of the world. Whole global economy is in a depression there are countries suffering a lot worse than Canada. So, I think people will continue moving out of their base countries to look for employment and better life.

Most of these issues unfortunately are world wide and not just Canada. Yes everything change during/after the \npandemic. Try and go living in France for example, good luck with that. (Like a lot of families move from gulf countries to their south asian countries for college,having personally experienced as well as my cousins who lived in Jeddah and loads of other relatives)\n1. It's so sad, because it is such a huge, beautiful country. And you know, in the USA, we grew up watching things, and reading things, etc that weren't even Amercian, but Canadian, and mostly not knowing it. So many beloved things from Canada. We did also feel like they were happier, and more pleasant than we were. But I have many friends up there, from all Provinces, and they all have the same complaints. Thing is, they are the same complaints about the USA also, but just things like crime in the USA is notably worse....I used to live in the UK also, and that was better, but still not brilliant. The west as a whole is falling apart, and there are reasons for that, reasons that are being mostly ignored, so it will only get worse I'm afraid, unless we start demanding that they know longer be countries that cater to only the rich. Where only the rich can thrive.

Canadian employers and often hiring managers are very very conservatives and risk adverse. Both as someone who grew up here, worked abroad and came back, the whole process for getting a job (as well as seeing how my colleagues behave as hiring managers / HR), it feels we are decades behind most countries in how we hire. \n\nIf not for my previous Canadian experience before going abroad, it would've been much harder for me to get any employment here. Moreover hiring managers are insanely close minded relatively, I've had countless discussions with people who would rather go with a worse candidate that they know from previous or referral than someone who's obviously more qualified / knowledgeable. It's also possible that the hiring managers have no confidence in their own ability to gauge skills (long LONG rant in this regard...), so they always prefer to go the safest route (for themselves) rather than take any risk on someone who's more skilled.\n\nCanada is (well.. used to, 10 years+ ago) great to live but it's horrendous to make a living.\n\nwith everything going to a shitshow over last decade... we can't even have the first half of that sentence anymore. I now fully expect my kids to leave the country when they look for work and it's probably best for their careers / entrepeneurships (ANOTHER part canada is just hostile to SMBs).\n\nTransportation... yeah, anyone who's lived abroad will consider Canada public transport to be very very low tier. however, you tell that to life time Canadians and they'll be super offended, aggressively defensive how great it is, etc.

Compared to America, being a disabled person in Canada is a dream. I lived in TO without a car for 5 years. You can't do that in the USA. Ever. Taxes are lower as there is an ancient infrastructure which is never updated (see Florida Condo meltdown, Texas power grid failure 2021). You spend hours in traffic as there is almost no public transportation. There are few or no environmental regulations so our country is beyond polluted. Rivers literally catch fire. Foreign companies bribe our officials (at least Canada has acknowledged this as a problem) so citizens can't get justice. Life expectancy in America fell sharply in 2020. It fell again in 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic certainly played a role, but that’s not the whole story. During this same time period, eight of the ten leading causes of death also increased. Even maternal and child and adolescent mortality increased. In August 2022, federal health officials released new data showing that across all demographic groups, Americans are dying younger. Welcome to the USA!

I'm Canadian too, born and raised, and I have to say this is accurate. Shit health care, insane taxes, low pay, impossible cost of living.... I live in a rural town now (used to live in a city!!) and even here it's becoming unbearable. Genuinely thinking of changing countries in the next 5 years once I get my act together.\n\nThe video also didn't address the political problem. Only 3 serious parties (the rest are niche and don't address Canada properly as a whole), and two of them partnered so you effectively have two parties. One of them has ramped up the deficit and deflected all housing problems, and the other is hellbent on private healthcare, ignoring environmentalism, and helping their rich friends. Impossible to vote for real representation.

I lived in Toronto my whole life and there have been major ethnic groups co-operating to muffle other ethnic groups, a passive racist attempt of pushing certain minorities out. \nThen Canada's government had a bright idea and started bending down to three major powers, which heavily invested in purchase of lands (like it was a real life game of monopoly) while in rapid succession- building townhouses and duplexes (then ditching all of that and opting for condominiums as the ultimate seize all in property value).\nIt became unlivable starting around 2015 (because of a specific group of migrants that have been aggresively flooding in [I can say that because I am of that origin, but born here and aware of what THEY can do]).\nCanada started dying around 2006-2007 and her last breath was at 2010. There are too many idiots in serious, highly attentive occupations and it is a major risk for the future of Canada. Instead of hiring adults with mature minds, they hire adult bodies with child like mentality and tolerances, on top of that- a sinister identity crisis, with no logic to back it.
