As an American I have constantly heard how much better Canada is than the US. But I noticed a lot of things going on in Canada that made me question that narrative. It seems that people overestimated the benefits of Canada and down played the pluses of living in America. They did that in my opinion for ideological reasons because Canada has government healthcare. While healthcare is an important issue it is only one of many people should consider and they should consider them without bias when weighing the pros and cons of a country.

I totally agree that this country will break your spine and test your ultimate willpower. Me and my wife came here 5 years back and we decided that we will shut ourselves like a tortoise. Forget about savings and forget about everything else. Only and only one goal we had in mind is that we will live in the basement and earn top dollars. Just to give you a perspective. My first pay was 19 dollar per hour and my current pay is 87 per hour. My wife started with 16.5 per hour and now earning 69 per hour. Even though our income grew substantially, we never raised our expenses. Answer to all problems in Canada is income. Now after 5 years we bought house worth of 1.4 M. We moved out of basement and felt immense pride. We paid 37% down payment and 3 banks approved our mortgages in a heartbeat. No debt at all. We paid up our car in full. Real estate in Australia is expensive because the nation is highly successful and ordinary citizens are wealthy, and this includes real estate, plus with 3 billion middle class Asian's right above Australia the Asian economy dwarfs the US economy to insignificance. Job opportunities are dictated by the fields the economy needs - oil is insignificant in Australia compared to other industries. Geographic Isolation - Thank god the rest of the world is far away, as an Australian I wish it was further away. Air fares prior to pandemic were reasonable USA to Australia around $800 return - but this guy lives in Perth so to go 4-5,000km to the east coast will be expensive - on the east coast a one way ticket to another city can be had for around $50 to $80 - Again for Australians proximity to the US market is not significant we are focused on the Asian region. Natural beauty anywhere is amazing but I prefer a warm climate over a frozen one - The Canadian population is all centered around the US/Canadian border region the rest of Canada like central Australia is vastly empty. In conclusion I find many immigrants want to move from Australia to Canada is proximity to the USA but for Australians the US market or lifestyle is not attractive or important.

If you want to live in an Islamic state you move to a Muslim country. Canada is a secular democracy that guarantees your religious freedom. No Muslim country does that unless you are a Muslim. As a doctor in Turkey, I can say that some people decide what disease they have by looking on the internet or talking to their neighbors or friends. I'm really tired of this ignorance. I don't know what doctors experience in Canada. The most important part when diagnosing a disease is the patient's complaints, history of complaints, chronic diseases, whether there is a similar disease in his family, and physical examination. Tests normally do not have much significance in diagnosis. We perform tests mostly to support our diagnosis and to follow the course of the disease. The most important part is the history and physical examination. Diagnosing themselves is nothing but ignorance. This is not what we want.

I have family in Canada, and there are pros & cons of being there, and yes, weather & inflation are two important factors. There are Muslim communities in Canada, but it all depends where you’re at. I do understand the prevalent anti Muslim attitude/atmosphere, I live in the US and there are certain areas where I would not feel safe declaring my religion and having my wife & daughter wearing hijab, it’s sad, but we as Muslims in North America have to act as the pioneers and make our fellow Americans understand better our religion & our view points regarding the political & religious differences we have.

I am not Muslim and I don't live in Canada so I can't completely understand your experience. I'm from a Hindu family and I relate to some of the things you guys have expressed, especially how you guys are worried about your children being raised in a certain environment and the sense of community. Especially, about the kids. America and Canada are scary at this moment. I heard that America is looking at allowing schools to help children to hide their decision regarding their gender etc., from their parents, and there is so much more being taught in schools that go against certain cultures and belief system but also it is now separating kids from their parents, creating walls. I also agree with you both that I don't hate or saying that others can't live the way they choose to live but when it is being imposed on your children then it's hard to live in that place. I wish you guys all the best, just wanted to say, I completely get you and bless your family. You have to do what is right for you and your children and you have to go where you are most comfortable and happy<3. We all are different and we all have our ways and we all deserve to be living in a place where we can be safe to continue our traditions and cultures, to help it live on, our children will carry that forward and it's important. If I may add 1 more point which made me feel strongly not to move to Canada is the healthcare accessibility. \n\nIt is very important to me and my family and we do not see it getting any better anytime soon. i moved to the uk two years ago with my 5 boys and wife. the opportunities in the UK were just too large to ignore for myself and my wife. and partially my step son. myself and my wife both got higher salaries for the fields we were already in and football is more important in the UK than canada where hockey is the dominant sport. it took along time to adjust. but overall recently my wife and i took a romantic trip to london this past new year’s eve and we both agreed this was the best decision for our family and children. we are happier here in the UK than we were in Ontario. and that’s what it’s about. quality of life. go back to canada? Canada is a broken nation and it’ll never be what it once was.

I think it's important to mention that we in Canada swings ridiculously left wing. It's important to note the government froze people's banks account during the trucker protest simply because they didn't agree with their viewpoints.
