Ukrainians also have the right to safety, security and dignity on their own land. However, when the war is happening, an opportunity to choose whether to leave or stay is crucial. If European countries didn't open their boarders for Ukrainians, there would be much more dead people. If countries around Gaza would really worry about those people, they would at least offer this choice, instead of making their choice for them.

Why does a country need immigrants? Because the native population is too low to run the economy. Why the Canadian population is going down? Because they choose to bring up pets and not kids. I'm a canadian and my Scottish hubs came here 7 years ago and hes like canada has gone so far downhill. We are saving so we can go to scotland and give it a go. Not looking at it as a save all. Canada lets psychopath killers roam free everyday that have intentionally killed people. Those killers are allowed to walk free among us and can legally change their name so nobody knows who they are or what they’ve done. It's kind of crazy that you'd have to choose specific states, cities, areas, etc to avoid living among the violence. While not every area in Canada is 100% preferable, I almost wouldn't think of my child's safety as a factor when choosing where to live. Canada, generally, is a pretty safe place.

What the French lady said, 100%. If you choose to immigrate here, you should make a strong effort to integrate and adapt to the local culture. Not saying abandon your roots, but you can't have it both ways- remain 100% Indian while living your life in Canada.

The thing is I still would choose Canada over a third world country like India. If we look at the median household earnings to average housing prices ratio in Canada it comes out to be around 41%, while here in India this ratio falls down to around 21% at the best. Canada is still more affordable than most of the countries in the world. But still this is no excuse for sky high housing prices.

Lets be real. Canada wouldn't get a single international student unless they gave PR as a bait. No reasonable person would choose Canada over USA other than easy PR.

Correction: Vancouver, while facing extreme difficulties due to a lack of affordable high-density housing, is doing a LOT to try and fix this in comparison to other cities in the infrastructure sector. Just over the last couple years, we've had some pretty extreme zoning policy changes, we have a yearly rent increase cap (which backfires once tenants move out, but that's another story) and we're building new transit infrastructure which now, legally, requires only high-density housing build in the surrounding areas. \n\nThe population growth here has wildly exceeded the amount of housing growth in the last few decades. Not to mention the insufficient wages, high cost of living and a broken healthcare system. Our people are struggling but if you have to live in a city right now, I'd choose the greater Vancouver area. Down the road, I see us improving the most infrastructure-wise out of any Canadian city, which will hopefully benefit social sectors as well.

@12:01 Tyler states you do need to be quite particular about choosing where you want to live in the US, going on with examples of locating communities with “like minded people” to yourself.\nThat to me is a bizarre statement, communities that have like minded people , where everyone has the same political, religious and social beliefs will have no opportunity for understanding and learning different perspectives / points of view or new ideas, new ways of doing things, no ability to accept or be okay with differences.\nLiving in a like minded community is essentially coddling and doesn’t allow one to evolve.

I am 4th generation Canadian. My Daughter is 5th. I won't be leaving because I am fully Canadian. Immigrants are mostly cherry picking the country they go to these days of mass immigration. If they choose to leave it's hard but they are looking to cherry pick the country. It's not my problem. The government was not being responsible . Best of luck on their next choice for advantage. We Canadians have big problems with our government right now. Mass immigration is hurting Canada in the short term and in the long term it will hurt our cultural cohesiveness. Based on the information you guys are providing, it seems like it's a simple issue of landlords in Canada trying to exploit people by preventing more housing from being built. I lived in canada for past 35 years. I am married with 3 kids. I work like a dog 60 hrs a week , i pay heavy taxes on my salary soo the government can give away hard tax payers money to people who scam the system. Examples are walfare and ontario works. I know people that get $1350 minimum on odsp and they are more than capable of working but choose to scam the sysytem collect free money and work cash jobs for less money and take away jobs from others. Hate this country now and cant wait to leave and shift else where were i can happily retire and watch my kids grow up and spend time with my family since everything in canada is soo expensive i have to work overtime and my wife also started working part time?

The older gen is left to fend for them selves, in the coming gen who will baby sit the kids, they to will get pets, it will be too expensive for them to have kids.

It’s crazy the way people forget that Canada doesn’t end at the end of Quebec. I hate to break it to you, but there are still affordable places to live in this country, They’re just mostly not in the urban centres of Ontario, Quebec, BC or Alberta. If you actually choose to acknowledge the existence of the other six provinces, you can have a pretty good life in this country! with that being said, I also have a good friend who’s making $100k a year fresh out of university in downtown Calgary. Everyone saying salaries are too low, there are no opportunities in this country, I’m curious to know what opportunities we’ve actually lost? As a third generation Canadian who's parents and grandparents faced so much racism. It's interesting how things came full circle. I recommend you offer the Indians your hand of friendship, if you choose to hate us good luck, our family and friend circles are 1000+ we have all the houses and cars. You're done.

Problem with housing is no government wanted to build new homes. It doesn’t matter you choose conservative or liberal. If they build new houses fast and cheap ( which they can ) the whole artificially inflated housing market will collapse. Then existing house prices will dramatically decrease. Which is bigger electorate. And nobody wanna loose that ( be it any political party ) so new immigrants and students can go to hell. They are just scapegoats.

Ultimately if you don't like the conditions where you live, we all have 2 feet that we can use to walk away and leave an expensive city (or country). There are far, far cheaper places to live in North America (see nearly any Latin American country and most South American countries). You vote with your feet: literally just leave and move to a cheaper cost of living area. It's baffling how expensive homes in Vancouver are, yet they cost 20% as much if you move to a rural place in Manitoba or Saskatchewan. \n\nYou actually don't have to continue pay high prices; only if you choose to not act and stay in your current expensive city.

How can we talk about the housing crisis and not mention the fact that provinces gutted the rent controls, allowing landlords to increase rents to whatever amount they choose. The rent control measures, which were removed by conservative provincial governments, kept rental prices within an affordable range, allowing renters who intended to buy to save enough for a down-payment on a house. That ain't Trudeau, that's the provinces.

Wholeheartedely agree with the content creator. We all see the measurable deprecation in our quality of life in almost all measurable areas. \nThe only burning question for me is whether we have already passed the point of no return and no matter what government is elected in future (regardless of party), will ever be able to revert the massive damage done over the last nine years to the country. If the damage cannot be reversed I would imagine that our brightest folks will simply leave the country. 10:58 Totally agree, I am an Indian born naturalized citizen. I chose to move here, so onus is on me to acclimatize and respect the culture and tradition of the country where I moved. Respecting traditions of a country of my choosing doesn’t mean that I am loosing touch with my own traditions. When we go to meet someone, we don’t expect them to meet all our whims and fancies, but we kind of respect their way of living and adapt. Unfortunately most of us want all of the privileges but none of the responsibilities. We definitely deserve all the riches that we are getting cz we have put in all the hard work, but at the same time, we should not be exclusive when it comes to providing opportunities to other races or cultures. It should not be that as an Indian i will rent out exclusively to Indians or will give jobs exclusively to Indian students. This should be fair. We should also be open to other races and cultures. If someone didn’t open their minds and gave us opportunity, we would not have been here. We should do the same.

If you're born in a first world country and you choose not to make anything of yourself, it's not immigrants' fault. Immigrants both in US and Canada always work very hard, they tend to focus a lot on getting a good education so they can get good jobs. They are the ones paying the high taxes dont forget.
