I’m an American citizen who was born in the United States (Hawaii). Everyone has the right to support or not support President Trump’s plans for mass deportation. The interviewer asked this Mexican American woman her opinion and she’s entitled to her opinion. There are a lot of Hispanic people who agree with Trump. I don’t think she’s turning her back on her family by saying “it’s okay” if they get deported. I think she’s respecting and supporting the rules of Immigration laws to have legal documentation to live in the United States. Rather than disrespecting and ignoring Immigration laws the way her family did. I think in a way she’s saying “it’s okay” her family gets deported because they deserve to be penalized for breaking Immigration laws for entering and staying in America for 20 or 30 years illegally which is valid and understandable. It comes down to the phrase “You commit the crime you do the time” whether it’s family or not. I believe she has a leg to stand on because she followed Immigration laws, received her Green Card and is living in the United States legally. If a family member of mine committed a crime and were put in jail or deported back to their country I would say “it’s okay” too. You reap what you sow.

Tesla sells batteries for EVs for 26 000$...The same battery made in China costs 7.000$ because China has its own lithium. We should say goodbye to Elon Musk batteries and import batteries from China or make a lithium deal with Bolivia as China did. Americans dont really do agriculture work. Their not going to sit their and pay the average american 20 to 25 dollars an hour and keep food prices the same. Tariffs would collapse Mexico's economy. Watch Trump slap 100% across the board on Mexico. The peso would drop like a rock. No one would buy ANYTHING from Mexico. American companies IN Mexico would leave Mexico due to the fact Trump is dropping regulations which killed their businesses under the democrats so they would return. Also ending the reliance on foreign oil will drop the prices for consumers even more so American made products would be cheaper and better made again. Most of the industry is automated as well but American jobs would return so China and Mexico who work together would be kicking rocks. Trump is winning and he isn't even in office yet ?

The slogan “Make America Great Again” is very nostalgic, but times are different. If the US imposes these tariffs, it will be to the benefit of China. When American products were undoubtedly superior to the rest of the world, imposing tariffs did not work in the 1970s. Today, it would become less competitive, there is very strong international competition and Chinese products would benefit. To make America great again, we must look to the future, not the past.

Ms Mexican-American, if your family members are deported because they came into the country illegally they will never be able to apply for citizenship! I think they would not even be able to apply for at least 10 years... Lower prices?! Of course that would be nice. Economically speaking, that means that a vast number of people want deflation. It could work in an economy not dependent on excess and consumerism, but the US economy is propped up on speculation and buying out of want rather than need. Deflation is considered an economic failure in this country. We target 2% inflation for fear that without it, people will buy less now and then there will be a downward correction on output and then jobs. \nIn any case, broad tariffs won’t be the answer to lower prices. A global economy is an efficient one, but often unfair or unkind in specific localities. The US has benefited from globalization and low cost labor elsewhere for decades. But the pendulum swung too far and now many Americans are feeling left behind. Tariffs could bring back jobs but on a 5 to 10 year timeline, not one 4-year presidential term, much less in a year.

That can’t be good. Putting a 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico could cause a lot of problems. First, they might fight back by adding their own tariffs on U.S. goods, which would hurt American farmers and businesses that sell products to those countries. It would also make things we buy, like cars and food, more expensive, which isn’t great for anyone.

There are about 2 million estimated Americans living in Mexico currently. They may be forced out too in response. President Sheinbaum just met with China's president last week as well. not to mention China's in-roads and developing relations with so many central and south American countries. Not to mention Brazil is the B in BRICS which is now roughly 1/2 the world's population and produce more GDP than the G7 for the first time ever. God help us is Saudi joins them. That is where most of oil prices are determined also since our refineries are not setup to refine domestically produced oil (it is the wrong type) and it would take decades and billions to convert. Not to mention costly and owned by multi-national corporations. And forcing them do so amounts to semi state-control and is a communist ideal. They are capitalist institutions and are only beholden to shareholders. And those shareholders are not voting to take a loss.

Ok for those who don’t understand how tariffs work thats tax for American companies to import goods here ok and the other countries sale their products at the whatever cost they set, once Americans pay the tax tariffs then Americans companies increase their cost to recover ad make up their loss costing Americans higher prices. I agree in that this most likely won't solve the issue put more stress on the population and business enterprise. Climate issues will make these plans even more problematic. We currently have issues with some of the effected industries domestically. We are having to many food recalls to create import price spikes even in building materials. It's already been reported that the drugs are coming into the country in American cars...sounds like a job for man's best friend...drug canine units. Putting more efforts in less drug cou consumption could help because unfortunately druggies will be druggies and find a way to get their supplies. We would be better off in controlling the drugs in this country than leaving it in the hands of criminals!

My husband and I are engineers from the US and Mexico and have lived in Germany for 15 years. Both speak fluent German and have raised three kids here. Yes, many people are racist. But if you learn the language well it’s not that hard to integrate and then things get much better. Germans can be the best friends you’ve ever had, much better than superficial Americans, but it can be hard to break through the shell. We have always loved it here. But to be honest with the steadily declining economy, massive scarcity in housing, and no salary increases in years, we are considering leaving as well. The outlook isn’t good for the Automotive industry and we could make double or triple the salary elsewhere. It would be very difficult to pull up our roots now gs better get better quick or we won’t stay much longer.
