Not everyone can just be considered an asylum seeekr bec of too much crimes in their countries. Grow up! Crimes happen evrywhere ieven in the USa. So if our attitude is just to let everyone come in for free to our country because their own governments are unable to fix their law and order problems, we are fkd as a nation. True asylum seekers were vicitms of war like vietnam war, Ukraine, Iraq, afghanistan (bec our own US govt caused all the strifes). African countries with civil wars. gang or drug crimes dont count because those are also our problems here in the US. If you work in a hospital like me, you will realize that the illegals crossing the borders (i think they have more sophisticated means now) bring their whole families including very sick ageing parents, disabled family members. And guess what, we are taking care of everyone of them more than our own citizens. I have no problem helping people but if our government shows more biases and leninency to the illegals more than the US citizens/legal residents, then I find that problematic. My heart breaks when the social worker would pressure me to discharge frail, sickly aging pts within nte 48 hour time frame bec medicare wont cover them and they are not eligible forrehab facilities as their status are observationinstead if inpatients while the non-citizens can just drop their chronically ill family members bec they cant take care if them as they are all working. They wont even claim them bec they are “busy”.\nThey can just do whatever they want as they dont have to worry about paying for hospital bills or have credit companies go after them. We are also taking care of their US born children but they are not paying taxes. Our co’untry is in the brink if bankruptcy bec of misplaced sympathy. If we really want to help these people, give them work visa so they can be legal and taxable, or better help their countries to help with drug wars, etc. We cannot sustain these kind of unconditional financial bleed for so long. Before we know it, the whole population outside the Us, have transplanted themselves here for free and without fiscal responsibilities.

they aren't asylum seekers, they have a safe country to go to, they just want to go to Canada. They want to pick and choose. Deport them and tell them to apply as the economic migrants they are!

There is supposedly an agreement between Canada and the US called the Safe Third Country Agreement which means illegal immigrants are supposed to apply for asylum in the first country they come to. Unfortunately, because of Trump, the Canadian government doesn't trust any US government to give these asylum seekers a fair hearing. Second, this agreement only applies to official border crossings, not unofficial ones like Roxham Road. Trudeau is absolutely right in wanting to renegotiate the Safe Third Country Agreement.

Wasting much needed time and resources processing asylum seekers visas while regular Canadians are waiting months and years to get their relatives applications processed. Unfair and unacceptable.

The United States has become an unsafe country for immigrants and refugees as Republican politicians pander to racists, anti-semites, and homophobes for personal profit and political power. Under international law Refugees/Asylum seekers have the right to present themselves at the border to ask for asylum in Canada. We should welcome them as our grandparents were welcomed.

Yeah our federal governement is soooo generous with our money. Every fake asylum seeker in the world can just come to cross illegally on roxham road and we will take them in, give them a check, emergency housing, a work permit if needed, health care access. And when its time to transfer money to cover the expenses of the provinces for this onslaught of fake asylum seekers, then suddenly the federal is much less generous.\n\nAnd what if you are a respectul economic migrant who wants to do things the right way and knock on the door to ask permission before you come? Are they asylum seekers or trying to avoid the immigration process,there is a difference. We do not have enough housing for Canadians to live in,shortage of doctors,nurses and ER's in hospitals close down frequently. My dad had to immigrate to Canada first,have a sponsor and a job before my mom and myself and brother could immigrate. In total it took 2 years for him to have enough money to bring us to Canada. So for me this just looks like jumping the que.

For example, all these illegal immigrants, known as asylum seekers, who cross the Canadian border daily via Roxham Road in Quebec - Ottawa forecasts that they will be 50,000 for the year 2022 - are taken care of by the State, and as long as their refugee status is not established, which can take three to four years. Thus, in the meantime, they do not work since without a work permit. And who should take care of it in the meantime? The Trudeau government is irresponsible!

The asylum/refugee system shouldn't be abused as a second form of immigration. This dude lived in the U.S for 15 years, what the hell is he claiming asylum for? He could have just attempted to immigrate to Canada as an economic immigrant rather than as an asylum seeker, what a dumbass. A cautionary tale for all asylum seekers to any country. Know the laws before moving if you have a choice. Why did he think Canada was a better choice when he was already in the US? Some immigration lawyers make you believe that you have a good chance to be approved as a refugee but they only want their money. If the asylum seeker gets refused they just wash their hands.

I'm from the UK and when I go into Manchester town centre it really annoys me because we do have a lot of asylum seekers here. I don't see why our country or any other countries should take them.
