Some of the stats cited here are straight up wrong or... creatively employed, and there's a lot of contradictory information and the typical conservative 'the sky is falling' sensationalism and misattribution. That said, the bas supposition isn't wrong. The bubble we've been sitting on for 20 or so years has completely burst. As someone born and raised in the Toronto area, it's impossible for me to afford to own a house or apartment here on a teacher's salary. Even rent pushes me to the limit unless I want to live in a... less than nice area. I'm living hand to mouth and enjoying the benefits of living in a 'developed' country less. Here's why:\n\n1. Wages aren't really even close to keeping up with the cost of living. The first tick upwards a bit. The second just keeps rising on the back of housing, food, amenities, and inflation: the four horsemen.\n\n2. Our grocery cabal ruthlessly raise prices whenever we look away, and their lobbyists are all ensconced within the leadership of our three major parties, particularly the Conservatives (so if anyone thinks that electing them will help, they're in for a nasty surprise).\n\n3. We're experiencing 'labour shrinkflation': increasing duties are downloaded onto workers and more is expected: more productivity, more availability (almost 24/7 in some jobs), and higher qualifications. Meanwhile, real wages are decreasing relative to living cost, more positions are 'contract', which is basically a way for employers to not have to give you benefits, and job security is tenuous for a lot of people.\n\n4. Houses are being bought by investors and not owners. Foreign entities are money laundering. The wealthy upper crust of high population countries are moving here and buying property because Canada is (still) more safe and stable and less repressive than their home countries in most cases. \n\n5. There's a cycle beginning: as people are squeezed and forced to spend more on 'needs', they spend less on eating out, entertainment, and other 'wants'. These are significant drivers of the service economy and they're being hit hard. So, what can they do? They can let go of workers or lower product costs to remain profitable, but they their quality declines and, in a market where people are pinching every penny and looking for quality for their dollar, they're less likely to go back. They can raise their prices, of course, but then they price people out completely and their profits still tank. I went to a decent steakhouse for my dad's 60th last week. I can't remember the last time that I went to one before that. \n\n6. Our politicians and news cycles focus on the most niche and irrelevant stuff because it'll stoke anger and get tongues wagging. This carbon thing is almost a non-issue, but our conservative leader is harping on about it like it's singlehandedly the death of the Canadian economy when it's a drop in the bucket. Trudeau focuses on 'equity' measures, hoping for a bit of cheap good press, while his efforts are, for the most part, just window dressing and the issues, while meaningful, are often not of paramount importance or even applicable to the vast majority of the people who elected him. Meanwhile, the middle class is pretty much evaporating as he speaks. The NDP keep talking about this in a pretty real way, for what it's worth, but Jagmeet Singh is giving off an increasing vibe of just being another fat cat politician beneath his rhetoric these days. Also, third-party trolls and screeching conservatives try to bury him on social media whenever he speaks... a lot more than other leaders as well, oddly. I wonder why? Oh yeah, the Greens exist and there's Quebec and the conspiracy theory party.\n\n\nUltimately, what we're experiencing is the revenge of the feudal system. Instead of paying rents to your lord and doing labour on the land for him whenever commanded to, you pay rent to your landlord now and go to work even when you're sick or when work hours are over because you have no union protection or are working 'on contract'. Unless we want to live in the armpit of nowhere, 95% of us are going to be wage slaves living hand-to-mouth, not owning our own property, and working to please our corporate overlords if current trends continue unchecked. While some of Canada's problems are unique, I fear that most aren't. As for me, I'm headed to the 'armpit of nowhere' where I can at least have a ghost of a chance of affording life.

It's a dirty game no matter from which angle you're looking at it, in my opinion. Colleges want to make money with them, they want to game the system, and corporations want cheap labor. And as far as I know, even back in their home country, some of their countrymen have made a business out of this type of migration. Best thing would have been if it had never happened. And I have nothing against them, personally. It's just way too many of them.

If are peoples who follow normal procedures to come legaly in Canada and loose years to accomplish their dreams, why should be a double standard for others who want to skip the legal way? If the law is meant to be broken this means one thing ANARCHY.

I lived in Ottawa all my life...maybe 2015, they started coming in so fast, I've never really seen so many Indians...now they're all over the place. Not saying it's a bad thing. Just what I've noticed. And lately I have been seeing them in Gatineau but knowing Quebec has new French rule, this may not want them to go live in QC. I think Vancouver has a lot of Chinese and Indians. Just the way it is. They say white people had it too easy and just demanded more from the government whereas Asians will come here for a better life, possibly doing labor work and not complain, so is this is the government is accepting of them? Are they helping with the economy? I am not sure where where all these numbers are coming from.

@12:01 Tyler states you do need to be quite particular about choosing where you want to live in the US, going on with examples of locating communities with “like minded people” to yourself.\nThat to me is a bizarre statement, communities that have like minded people , where everyone has the same political, religious and social beliefs will have no opportunity for understanding and learning different perspectives / points of view or new ideas, new ways of doing things, no ability to accept or be okay with differences.\nLiving in a like minded community is essentially coddling and doesn’t allow one to evolve.

Obviously way too many Indians and Muslim. They stick together, hire their own and I find many of them look down on black people and other races. They want you to learn about and accommodate their culture and religion but reluctant to do the same. As a teacher it is difficult to teach Arab men. Literally if you said these things a decade ago which I have people will bc all you racist or xenophobic but thankfully more Canadians are seeing the obvious truth now.

Although México isn't the greatest country, the part where i live (Near the center) is fairly safe, I've never been robbed or been involved in some cartel shit that you've heard of Mexico everyday (I'm 25 yo). The opportunity aren't the best either but aren't so bad...\nI mean, I've just finished the bachelor degree two years ago, I'm planning to buy a house with my girlfriend and making quick math we calculate it would take us about 3 - 4 years to save enough to buy one (Earning like 1200 USD monthly) taking in consideration that you can give yourself certain luxury's like hitting the road every weekend in motorcycle, visiting some places along the way, eating good food and stuff, with out sacrificing the rent or any basic necessities, then you remain with enough money for any emergency or urgent thing that comes out later.\nWatching this video makes me feel lucky of been here in Mexico even it isn't a very stable county i could say that the quality of life is fair enough (At least in the part where I am).\nSorry for you Canadian people... Foreigners coming to Canada is a good thing, but its the 98% of Foreigners that come and think that the rules of their country apply here. You have to conform to Canadian rules not the other way around.

Not only is it it impossible to live here, there are no resources unless the government gets something from it. As an indigenous child who grew up in foster care my whole life, there was no indigenous foster care homes for me to go to and therefore my culture has become traumatic for me. My OWN culture has major trauma related to it and my foster care agency would NOT help me unless I moved to the reservation after I aged out the THEIR system, which was not applicable because they were the ones who traumatized me. When I turned 19, I was expected to have it all figured out, I was not allowed to remain in my foster home afterwards without massive paper work and thank god my foster mom cared about me because without her, I would be on the streets with nothing but a garbage full of clothes. I moved out on my own with the help of that family and my agency said they would help with things if I asked. As of the economy now, I did ask them. I asked them for any help at all and my social worker LITERALLY ghosted me and stood me up, even at my plea for help. You would think this is just my case but there are hundreds of cases like mine with even worse endings and what Canada has done with this information is nothing. Foster Care in Canada for indigenous youth is the 2000’s way of Residential Schools and I am EXTREMELY lucky to NOT be homeless and dead. Many of my friends in similar situations are dead or homeless and I have no hope for Canada, it’s an extremely depressing reality.

Just because you had the privilege and the means to be developed does not give you the right to demean other nations. In the information sector and other highly skilled areas, they are present earning loads of money which reverberates to more tax money for the government. \n\nI know that they have major issue with absorbing the host country culture and I believe that can probably or maybe alleviated by having some cultural programs so that they can fit into the society so that the Canadian culture is upheld. It's always difficult to see changes around you and your home being in your words being raided by foreign entities. Guess what? The world is filled with different ethnic groups. Hundreds of years ago all your native homes were part of the indigenous people here and they didn't even have time to complain or lament online when the Europeans butchered them and massacred their homelands, claiming the land and setting up as their own. Now you are in a position to call something your home and we all know what all your ancestors did regardless of how good you are right now. The least you can do is not comment such provocatively online against other ethnicities or is this atrocity still there in your blood. It's very simple. Try to think beyond frustration and be grateful for what you have. \n\nBy the way I can write more but I don' think it's worth my time but maybe positive things can happen if you put your mind into.

So let me be clear: the Aboriginal People have absolutely every single right to be disgruntled and complain if any nation is to do so especially after having been swindled and bamboozled out of their land and space and way of life. This is why if any nation/ group is expected to raise up and fuss and complain it’s the Natives/Indigenous People. The circumstances are not even remotely near the same here with Canadians today versus what the Aboriginals went through pre-European Canada. We don’t even need to go there. Naturally, any one particular group that occupies a certain space and then has said space slowly taken over by another group/nation will be displeased to say the least and it is their right to complain. Truly no one nation or group can occupy any land or space forever as no one truly owns the land to begin with. Who’s disputing that?? So why even complain at all over something we don’t even truly own, even though we have somewhat of a right to do so?? The world is gradually becoming more of a melting pot of different races of people. And needless to state, Canada is a country of many nations and it would be very unbecoming of any minority immigrant to be here and be racist towards and complain about the other ethnicities/minorities here. Hence what triggered my comment in the first place. Immigrants wanna boldly come here and change things to suit them. This is Canada! And that’s not how things work here. Why come to my home and then complain about the occupants? Just go back where you came from. Period!

When I walk into the local Walmart I feel more like a stranger abroad because I don't understand what people are saying because they are all immigrants and refugees.\nI'm no racist, but having the government impose this on the population is such a disrespect. The health management situation was never fixed and we pour in multitudes of refugees to clog it even better. A few years ago clinics changed their way of getting an appointment because waiting rooms were overfilled with refugees! It's now so hard to get an appointment it stresses me out to no end! The silver lining in this is that I have not much more time to live. You can have the country. It's not mine. Things weren't like this in my youth!

Its not entirely the federal governments fault. The state governments are sabotaging the country and blaming it on the feds. The world is WAY worse outside the borders than in them. It looks like they have noticed that people are frustraited. They are not responsible for all things. I lay the failures I know they are responsible for at their feet, not every failure in the world. It’s crazy the way people forget that Canada doesn’t end at the end of Quebec. I hate to break it to you, but there are still affordable places to live in this country, They’re just mostly not in the urban centres of Ontario, Quebec, BC or Alberta. If you actually choose to acknowledge the existence of the other six provinces, you can have a pretty good life in this country! with that being said, I also have a good friend who’s making $100k a year fresh out of university in downtown Calgary. Everyone saying salaries are too low, there are no opportunities in this country, I’m curious to know what opportunities we’ve actually lost? Just because they aren’t being afforded to you doesn’t mean they don’t exist, maybe this should spur some self-reflection. You do have to work hard to succeed after all! \n\nLife is hard, always has been. If you actually talk to your parents instead of trusting what others on the internet say, who also weren’t alive during that time, you might realize that things really aren’t that different now. Despite what the internet will tell you, a minimum wage job was not enough to afford a house and a car 40 years ago. Shockingly, a minimum wage job doesn’t pay enough to get you a house and a car now either! Crazy how that works

Though here's the thing, he's a prime example of what distorted concepts and biased rhetoric can bring about. Buy some acres of land, dig up the ground, place a 1000 shipping container homeless shelters beneath the land. Build a village of transitional homes upstairs on the land. Build the homes with 3d printing construction technology. Charge below market fair rent so it can help the homeless transition to getting their life together. Land is expensive people naturally would like to profit off it. This way you can still profit off the land and have a real solution to solving homelessness. It will take a 1000 people off the street inside of shelters and clean up the street. Repeat and rinse until no more homeless. There should be underground shelters and transitional homes all over the city. The government has power and resources to do these things. Or the people need to get together start a non profit organization, pool money and do it themselves.

Brampton was nice place to live back in the day. Now it is a shithole, infested with crime, violence and everything else. Toronto has been well upon its way there for more than a decade . I guess cultural enrichment and diversity struck again. \n\nThis what happens when a country no longer controls its borders and has no say as to who comes in and how many. Canadians are living those end results and consequences in real time. The thing is that too many of them voted for this and are too passive, apathetic or spineless to say or do anything. It's the same thing in Ottawa. I moved here in 2019 from Montreal and the culture shock was immediate. I've already made up my mind to leave the country because it's absolutely finished. If all goes to plan, I'll be out of here by 2026. Canada will become an Indian majority country in less than 20 years and Canadians are asleep at the switch. They don't seem to understand or care what happens when you dump a million or more immigrants per year into a country of just 40M and while Indians aren't bad people per se, even they will tell you that the new stock of Indians coming into the country isn't the same as the old. They're far more tribal than they ever used to be. Trudeau opened the floodgates, but I don't think Poilievre will be able to close them. I live in his riding and there are a loooot of indians here. There's no way he'll want to risk stirring up the hornet's nest. The Canada we knew is on death's doorstep.

I grew up in Glace Bay, NS with my White brothers and sisters, things were normal and how our founding fathers intended. It only took a few years to completely ruin this country! This isn't Canada anymore, and that is a fact. Just go to a Tim Hortons or a Walmart and you will think you're in India; for every 20 Indians you might spot 3 White people, it's insane! This is the age of the Great RESETtlement. Anyone else wish the war of 1812 went the other way? We border the most free nation on earth and an invisible line keeps us trapped in this prison. Ok.. I haven’t any issues with the Indian people. I would however like to see certain things adopted for everyone’s sake. For example; fast food has been popular since the 60’s & 70’s it hit popular because menu items were tested and the way a burger is assembled right down to the condiments was worked out by the franchisers and food experts in the North Americans tastes and preferences. To be uncomfortably honest. I have not had a burger from a fast food restaurant that I truly enjoyed for a few years now. And I suspect that franchisees from India and the preferred employees also Indian do not grow up eating North American cuisine and do not fundamentally understand how foul too much condiments can make an item. And there is seemingly Zero effort to learn how to correctly assemble the products. Quite frankly I would be surprised if the employees that do the work would eat the food they make due to the culinary culture. And if they do.. I doubt it prepared in the same manner as for average customers. I just don’t think mayonnaise, ketchup & mustard are used in India on food. How would we expect them to understand the mistake at all.

Well, as an immigrant, I am sorry for the Canadians who were born here. The thing is though, until our government can find a way to solve the birth rate problem or labor shortage, mass immigration likely will continue. \n\nMy work contains data analysis of our job market and here is what we found: even with this level of immigration, our labor supply right now in Canada is still slightly below replacement level. In less than a decade, the majority of people in the workforce will retire. This creates two problems: 1) more retirees mean more pension needed from the government; 2) government needs tax money to pay for pensions, but the workforce is shrinking so there will be less tax payers. I don’t see a good solution to this unless some super AI saves the day. Of several bad solutions (gambling is more like it), immigration has a chance of turning things around. But either way, the next generation of workers will be the most overworked and heavily taxed in decades.

Irresponsible mass immigration = high housing demand = inflated market values = high mortgages and rents = some losing their homes because they are unable to pay the mortgage / rent, or even find an affordable place to live anymore. Then there's the issue of a shortage of jobs due to companies hiring mostly immigrants seeking citizenship and paying them a low wage in exchange because the companies know they're desperate. We need to stop blaming immigrants and start blaming our government, and ultimately corporations, for the way things are.

It's always been this way. The French and English were in their separate enclaves in the beginning. The Irish, Scottish and Germans then established their bases where they could more easily integrate into their new societies….The Italians and Portuguese and Greeks and other Euros set up shop in the 50's 60's and 70's…Most of them lived among their own communities with familiarity…Same for all the Asian and African, S.American, Carribean immigrants and others ever since…. They may stay a generation or two in these communities, but children of immigrants lean to living wherever suits them. It's like the evolution of immigrant societies. This is happening all over the world at this moment, and people of all races ,creeds and colours are complaining of other groups of peoples of all races, creeds and colours moving into and sometimes engulfing their communities.\nSome communities have been Gentrified…Do we shake our fists in the air and scream ' Damn those young professionals!!?' Other communities have been inundated by hordes of Seniors. It wouldn't surprise me if the blatant racists commenting on this site didn't suggest Euthanasia in such cases, or perhaps loading them onto ice-floes and tugging them out to sea. If you're not happy, MOVE! If you can't adapt, or if you can't see that we're really all the same, all wanting the same things in life, or if you don't realize that most people from these countries are actually really nice and worth knowing, well don't go away angry, just go away to wherever suits you. Perhaps there's an Ice floe out there for you somewhere.

Immigration is out of control. This is the WEF plan. They want Canada Destroyed. Immigration must go back to the way Harper did it. Also, the WEF is making things so bad here in Canada, that young people can’t afford children. Our birthrate is dropping more each year.
