I'm an engineer in the US atm on an H1B. I got it on my last go. I know what awaits me and for me there are more important things than money. Yes the money is good here but I dont have the freedom to do other jobs or business like everyone else. I'll be moving to CA soon. Can't put a price on peace of mind

The reason why more people (like engineers and doctors) from China and India want to move to USA ?? is for better life. Why would an Engineer or Doctor from Norway, Switzerland or Luxembourg want to move to US ?? their home country is already offering what they could ever ask for, a high paying job with decent living ?.

*America would always be number one, why wont it would be??* In my country (India) high skillled workers leave, not stay in line to enter. From doctors to engineers to scientists. Most of them just leave, Our country simply can not compete with American or even the canadian salaries.

Point system is more fairer, but much like affirmative action, it doesnt skew the system towards black or hispanic communities, so democrats are opposed to it, and republicans like to have it broken as well for their own anti immigrant rheotric. For what was Worth Trump tried, but there was a bipartisan pushback, because neither party wants more engineers but more poor workers for farm labor without rights.

One thing that’s tossed out of consideration is that a higher skilled immigration rate means more skilled people in general competing for the same jobs and depressing already out of sync middle class wages, as a future Electrical Engineer I don’t want to compete with the best from India, China, Pakistan, etc, when I’m already competing with the best homegrown US candidates for ever more demanding and limited entry level engineering jobs

most H1Bs go to indians. do some research. also smart engineers will probably move to US from canada for pay and opportunity later on in life.

Professionals in Australia are far better than Canada and USA. Weather, people, lifestyle everything. I am in Aus since 2004. Mechanical engineer wife Pharmacist and most of our friend in good jobs and enjoy life. Been to Canada and US....There is no comparison. Yes if you are a failure in life then its a bad experience but then dont blame the country blame your abilities....that you are not good enough to make it happen....

I graduated from the one of the top engineering universities in Canada (a place that Facebook hires the most engineers from). I was born in India and moved here as a kid. despite the fact I am Canadian Citizen and specialize in semiconductor engineering (something that is needed badly in US) it is nearly impossible for me to emigrate there and have a chance at citizenship or green card. It is quite a frustrating process. US Immigration system and the uncertainty surrounding it is one of the biggest reasons I have not gone down for even work.

Worth noting that a good portion of those engineers settling in Canada are doing so to gain Canadian Citizenship to allow them to immigrate to the US, where they can make more money.

Why are these people being interviewed? There are millions of migrants and better vloggers than these two.\nThey didn't qualify for Australian PR I think. They got Canada's PR because of its poor and weak migration policies.\nPeople from science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) background have a better chance to migrate as compared to people from professions like HR, Marketing, Sales, Advertising, and Media...completely useless for migration purposes. Americans feel everyone has usa high on a pedestal which couldn't be further from the truth. Hey..This very helpful,my query is does the degree or NOC chosen matter? Like are there professions that are more sought? Like Australia i believe its easier to go as a skilled migrant for Doctors,Engineers,IT etc the rest of the professions is very challenging and nearly impossible to get invited to apply Does someone in the marketing field stand a chance? Also,are the points required for different felds the same,like the cut off is for example 500(for Doctors, IT, nurses, Drivers etc) or do they have different cut offs for different NOCs? Also,how did you settle there once you arrived? Did you have someone to host you? How long did it take you to get a job?

one of my friends same way came to Canada from Newzealand, and now he went back, the same way another friend from Germany came on PR and went back to India due to he got good opportunity, I was a software project manager in India and my wife was a professor in engineering college having a degree of Ph.D. in computer science but facing trouble to get right job in Newfound land. so we met so many PR newcomers in last 6 months and herd same story like us so moral of the story for others is ,please be aware about expenses , cost of living and hidden costs .

December 6, 1987, Marc Lepine got in our engineer university and killed 14 female students just because they were women. Terrible event for French canadiens but also all across the country. POPULATION DID NOT ACCEPT THIS. We manifested and federal government took severe laws against fire guns. Imagine we can go to school or anywhere else without being shot by a crazy person.

You can see many surgent and talented Intern/Indian doctor, experts and engineers doing labor work, are not they even capable for general basic services?! Well canadian govt is responsible for all this mess, politics bringing people with no proper background check. The reason is very simple there is more crime more unrest this i have never seen in Canada. Canadian govt should do something. Canada's economy is basically exporting resources, residential construction, the automobile industry, diploma mills for foreign students, and a small software/life sciences sector, plus the servicing of those sectors. With EVs a large part of the automobile sector (the plants that produce internal combustion engines and related car parts) will disappear and oil exports will shrink. At some point the housing boom will pop, and the construction sector will massively shrink, plus all the related banking, real estate etc. services. If we annoy China enough the diploma mills will also have a lot less customers.

So fix it! 1. Decide to be the BEST in science and engineering. 2. Stop teenage pregnancy. 3. Demand fathers take a role in their child's lives. 4. Help your kids with their homework. 5. Seems like the issue is mainly the sham schools. I study engineering at a reputable Ontario university with co-op program. International classmates, many from India, have no trouble finding good work, both as a student and after graduation.

I have spent significant time in Calgary, Vancouver, and Victoria and was stunned by how much less white racism I encountered than anyplace in the US. \nWe had car trouble out in the country, and white guys stopped to help us out. If its about money try Qatar for petroleum engineering if its for the quality of life i think Canada might be a good option,qatar has tax free salary and you get free housing but then on the down side they pay salaries according to your passport so if your passport is still African you might not get the same benefits as the rest(u knw i mean)so go try u never knw if you dont like it at least you tried

Great there is a program that is going to be called hard labor and depending on your work effort you get your paper's which it might be 5 to ten years.1st will make interstates for semi's. 2nd will built and do a complete restoration in the fishing industry. 3rd will built fortresses of concrete and steel around UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TO AVOID land invasion in the future in the time of our grandchildren.4th will work for the Army corps of engineers and built better semi transportation and sea water transportation making UNITED States of America the best by far country of Food,weapons,aid reliefs to foreign country's.

This hits close to home. I'm just about finished my engineering degree in Canada, where I was born and raised and my family has lived for 400 years. Outside of Alberta and Sask, nothing is affordable. And Sask is to barren to live in. I will almost certainly look South for work as this country continues to make itself completely unaffordable. As much as I hate to see it, I don't think i see Canada surviving in its current configuration for any longer than half a century.

Friend, I hope you haven’t left. I think you’re making a terrible mistake. I’ve lived in Calgary for 29 years. Our stats people are tricky. You will not find a house in Calgary for under $600k. Unless you plan to live in a very impoverished, run-down, and dangerous area. In a “good” suburb, not great, you’re looking at $686K - $749K. Most are now selling between $812K - $1M. I’m sorry my friend, those stats are a mirage. They blend in cheap apartments in Edmonton into those stats. For petroleum engineering, congrats for finishing those studies, but it’s been a long-standing political battle in Canada; Albert vs. Ontario on this issue. The current liberal government is openly trying to destroy the industry you’re in and you will struggle immensely to find work.

My dad immigrated to Canada in 1974 as a mainframe computer programmer and I was born and raised here. I know it’s not perfect and things are getting tougher but having been around the world, it is still largely a very peaceful and stable country. I work as an engineer in the nuclear power industry of Ontario and I’m 40 something so I’m stuck here anyway ?

We have doctors working as nurses, engineers working as waiters, and PhD holders working as labour. Our economy isn’t focused on producing quality jobs for our people and the people we are bringing in are of the same caliber (study wise) as the people we have grow up here, yet we don’t invest in research and development. \nI wanna move to the US and so does everyone I know because we used to swallow the tougher economic conditions just for the fact that we were safe, we can’t get that anymore, what’s the point?
