I don't think Mexico's President gets it yet. The cartels will be designated as a foreign terrorist group. Mexico's government has done nothing significant to stop them from committing crimes against the U.S and it's citizens. Mexico is indeed a failed State. If the state cannot stop drug trafficking and illegal migration, then it does not have the resources or the desire to change the situation. But there is another option. The Mexican Government deliberately turns a blind eye to migration flows in order to reduce social tension in its own country. Mexico is thus getting rid of thousands of angry young people, redirecting their energy towards the United States.

My main concerners are human decency and the chance that a legal immigrant will get caught up in the mix.\n\nFirstly, i am concerned we will return to the concentration camps of the 1900s and the people in them wont have adequate supplies and support ehile they wait to be deported.\n\nSecondly my concern is for those on a green card or other form of legal immigration getting caught up in the mix and not being let go. If you have come here and submitted the proper paperwork to be here then you should be allowed to stay until your paperwork has been processed.

If they get deported, that is going into immigration records and when that gets pulled up when they apply to come back it will likely cause any legally efforts to return to be rejected. And who knows how long that will stay in their system? Could be years, could be permanent. Biden’s idea to help those undocumented who are married to citizens to be able to apply and get a temporary visa to stay here while they wait so that families wouldn’t have to be broken up by having the applicant return to their country of origin. That was not just a great idea from a humanitarian point, but they could apply for a job that wasn’t going to take advantage of them by paying below minimum wage, with no rights if they are injured. That could help bring local wages up. They would start contributing back by paying their fair share of taxes, and do on.
