Increase in crime is one of the perverse effects of immigration

Vancouver real-estate is essentially a money laundering operation for rich foreigners looking to stash their money somewhere. Protections were put in place a little to late back in 2016 with the foreign buyers tax. But honestly most of these foreigners can either be exempt from this tax with their citizenship loop hole (anchor baby) Or honestly they just pay the fine since they can afford it and just need to get their money out of the country they are coming from. Its quite dystopian because building more homes like the government keeps promising isn't going to solve the problem either. This is because its just going to add more to the volume of housing that the foreigners can buy up from the locals and adding more fuel to the problem. Immigrations Canada is lying to new comers. To top it off, BC just recently passed a law in 2024 where you can no longer build single family residences in the lower mainland area. WHERE are the families going to go then? Can anyone even afford a family anymore? Vancouverites like myself who were diligent and saved every penny are walking away from mortgages in droves because who wants to lock into a 30 year term amortization period where at rate plus prime your looking at 5.5%-7% where the bank makes more than double in interest from you. Over the course of 30 years you still lose because even if your property appreciates past double. Capital Gains will take into effect. Your loosing money no matter what! It truly is a nightmare designed to enslave you financially. This is simply wealth creation suicide. Came from immigrant parents in the 1990s, I slaved for 10 years during my twenties, didn't come from wealth, didn't party, didn't have fun, studied hard, and started a business and I still cant break into the Vancouver market. So I ended up just barely squeaking into the market in Abbotsford. Vancouverites as a whole are screwed. Time to pack up and move to Alberta I suppose. I will also preface by saying that most of BC is empty and that it would make sense to built outside of the Vancouver area as Vancouver has now basically become fiscally unlivable. Idk if you mention this but in NS the gov pays 75% of immigrant wages meaning employers prefer hiring immigrants over citizens. I lost my family doctor 2 years ago and haven’t gotten a new one. My kids did as well. And walk in clinics are literally lined up outside the door every day. \nAnd I’ll add the culture of India is a lot different than Canadian culture especially when it comes to customer service.. even getting our doubles doubles has been effected. \nAnd I’ll mention the immigrants often have no kids or family with them.. they live all in 1 place even 8 people in a 1 bedroom and they will have multiple jobs. I am not A Canadian I’m an American, but I interact with lots of Canadians as they find themselves coming down here for one reason to the other and I’m not near the border either. I make this distinction because many cases they have not assimilated. The whole immigration issue is not complicated, if our population has increased by 5% since 2022 and our supporting infrastructure has not increased by atleast the same amount then the immigration levels are too high. \n\nYou can apply this logic for almost anything and if you cannot see how increasing the population faster than infrastructure can be built to support it is a problem then you shouldnt be in a position to make policy directly effecting the issue.

The most concerning thing to me is that they're taking jobs away from local Canadians who were born and raised here and thus worsening the lives of other Canadians as well, it's a domino effect that'll change what Canada looks like 20-50 years from now.

Immigration has taken in too many, TOO QUICKLY. We need to slow it down. All of our social services have been negatively effected and we all feel it.

Our feds are actively promoting with advertising to come to Canada in India. I don't know this for sure but a few Indians have posted comments to this effect to me...So, I don't so much as blame the Indians for wanting to come when our government is actively promoting such things. The situation in Australia is very similar, however not as bad yet. But we face similar issues in regards to housing affordability and massive immigration. Australia only has 27 million people and last year it invited 700.000 migrants, mostly from Asia. There are talks of reducing the number of international students but I doubt it’ll take effect. The international students are the Australian universities’ cash cows.

It's sad that so many Canadians have to move from their hometowns/provinces in droves to financially survive and get ahead a little. Unfortunately, the droves of people fleeing Ontario and BC are driving up prices now (to buy/rent) in other parts of Canada like Alberta and Atlantic Canada where this is having a trickle effect creating Albertans, Nova Scotians, etc. to be homeless and strains on their provincial healthcare systems. It's a sad state of affairs, and I do not think a politician can fix this, unless they start demanding more and curtailing the power of corporations. A big rebalance needs to occur, but it seems unlikely when politicians and business leaders are on the same side (aka corruption / conflict of their own interests). Canada needs a division between government and business which is the case in many Scandinavian countries.

What Canada NEEDS is AFFORDABLE Housing for the working poor, OW, ODSP and get the homeless who want housing.\n\nAll Pubic Colleges and Universities should be AUTOMATICALLY adding a housing cost for International Students. This way these foreigners aren't creating housing problems for the local community. So Colleges and Universities should be buying property within REASONABLE DISTANCE from their Campuses that are only for CURRENT STUDENTS actually taking classes. \n\nThe Government needs to be RESPONSIBLE for LOW INCOME housing. More people are finding themselves unable to take care of themselves. Which leads to severe drug abuse and homelessness.\n\nNew Development should be required to be the most effective version and sustainable version of Green. 15% of the apartments should be for low income, OW, ODSP and Elderly. This will help the Government properly plan out Public Housing across each Province and Territories.\n\nThe next question is why are all these East Indians who aren't becoming TRUSTWORTHY doctors, nurses, business owners competing to live in Parkdale, Toronto versus the East Indian Hubs in Ontario.

Problem with Canada's immigration system is its point based. And those points are based on quantity over quality. Eg, if person A has a PhD from some crappy university and Person B from Harvard, they are both treated equally. Also if person C is more qualified with years of experience at the top firms of the world but only has a bachelors degree, person A will still be preferred over him cause of the extra PhD regardless of the quality of the PhD or person C's work.\n\nIt was stupid from the beginning and now its clearly resulted in negative effect to the country. If you keep a high bar to entry, only quality people will be able to apply at limited quantity but somehow your leaders thought of doing the opposite.
