My Grandfather was 5 years at war he was shot twice jumping in a fox hole. That is the year the American finally joined WWII and brag about how the American won the war. He hated America so growing up I never knew anyone. I started class at Second City Chicago last year. Maybe you guys aren't so bad. ? I live on Vancouver Island. It is 270 miles long and our whole island population is 875, 000. So ocean view. Hospital that doesn't charge. And while I do have hunting rifles and a shotgun. I had to take 3 written tests and 2 practical exams to have them. As well my license is criminal record checked every 24 hours. I would not move anywhere my grandchildren are doing active shooter drills.

I'd just say as a Canadian we have all of the best the US has to offer with very little of the negatives it has. So why would we go to somewhere where it only becomes worse.\n\nMost people in the USA are not ok when it comes to healthcare. The minor stuff sure, but if you have anything serious happen most likely your healthcare will only cover half or a quarter of the costs. The USA also has some of the worst healthcare care out of almost all western countries.\n\nTo put into perspective of kids and gun violence. From 2019-2023 on average 9 kids get shot dead in the USA per day, so 3 285 per year. If we look at 2019 specifically we have 73million people under the age of 18 exist. If we use the average of 9 shot a day and put that to 18 years of life we come up to 59,130 shot over the 18 years; however out of 73 million it means you only have a 0.081% chance of dying from being shot. Doesn't sound too high, but it means you're more likely to get shot dead than almost all other forms of death, more likely to be shot as a child than someone to win the lottery.

huh... yes kids are getting shot every day of the year Tyler.. come-on man..

I have a work visa for the US and go there often. I go to many places that are not in the cities. I'm actually in South Dakota as I write this and find it to be a very pleasant place. I generally find everybody to be very friendly but can't help feel there are some topics that I just don't feel comfortable talking about in fear of triggering a strong response. I like visiting but would not consider moving there to raise a family. There is just a much greater chance of volitivity there. \n One time, while dinning out, I had a guy ask me, that because I didn't have a gun, what would I do if someone came to my home to rob me at gun point. I told him it never happens. But he insisted many times, but what if they did. I told him that it's not something I'd ever thought about and that I probably had a greater chance of dying on the plane ride home than being shot by an armed robber in my own home. But he kept insisting. I eventually told him I would help the robber take my stuff out of the house because that is what I have insurance for. I could not believe that this guy did not understand the concept of NO ONE (other then criminals shooting other criminals in the city) having a gun. \n I actually do have a long gun at my place in the country but that's to keep me safe from large animals that may come out of the bush. It is locked up in a gun cabinet by law. I would never think of using it against another person. I'd go to jail for sure if I did. Many of my friends hunt and have several guns but the restrictions on where and when you can use them and the strict storage requirements help ensure that they are not travelling around with a gun at hand. There are actually a few places in Canada where I've been that you do, or should, have to travel with a gun but these are remote areas of the country with large predatory animals. 99% of the population do not live in these areas.

They are being shot everyday in your country just because it hasnt affected you is avoiding responsiblity
2023-07-16 0
I disagree that you can find a community with similar politics and what not. I can’t go to a concert in America without worrying about a mass shooter. I can’t send my kid to school without worrying they will get shot. \n\nIt’s absurd to think there is anywhere safe in America with your gun laws.
2023-07-16 0
The fact you can get shot walking down the street from anybody is enough for a no, and with the other things I barely want to visit it
2023-07-16 0
Children are DEFINITELY getting shot at school EVERY day in the USA.
2023-07-16 0
To be blunt, you couldn’t pay me to move down there. I have family in Massachusetts that I visit and that’s quite enough for me. Canada isn’t perfect, but I don’t live in fear of my nephews being shot in school, or going into massive debt because of my health issues. Not to mention the recent anti trans legislation cropping up and the govt desire to control women’s bodies. No thank you. Never.
2023-07-16 0
NO! As a liberal atheist I would probably get shot. You are definitely de-sensitized to gun violence; 30,000 American kids die every year from gun violence, the number one cause of child fatalities.
2023-07-16 0
I don't believe 1 single kid in Canada has ever actually shot their friend or themselves and I don't recall any school shootings in Canada. Only one that comes to mind was the college massacre in like the 70s that I believe changed gun laws her for the better.

Maybe Canadians are more concerned about gun violence than Tyler feels they need to be, BUT HERE IS WHY! \n\nAccording to USA today and Forbes magazine there have been more than 300 mass shootings so far this year and 200 people were shot on the 4th of July alone. These articles are dated July, 2023. A mass shooting was defined as 4 or more people killed or injured. There is a bbc article from May 2023 that states 48,830 people died of gun violence in 2021 in the US; that’s the population of a small city in Canada. Half those deaths were suicides, which occur because the guns are available. All of these articles mention the shear number of guns in the US, more guns than people, 120 guns per 100 people. So yes, I think Tyler is exhibiting his American bias and has become desensitized. His statements that it’s only in some places and to choose carefully where you live because violence isn’t every where are not borne out by the stats. These shootings happen in all corners of the country and every time they do people are shocked that it could happen in their safe little town. Think back to Columbine, Sandy Hook, Parkland, Uvalde these were not violent communities yet their schools were targeted. \n\nThe gun culture is high on the list of reasons I wouldn’t move to the US but do is politics, women’s rights, anti 2SLGBTQ legislation, health care, environmental protection laws ( or lack there of), lack of social programs, etc. Canada certainly isn’t perfect but I’ll take it warts and all over a US option. Don’t get me wrong I love to visit the US but living there is a whole different ball of wax. Thanks but no.

Sorry, no. Love to visit relatives in New Hampshire. After my friend got shot in Vegas. I’m done. Too many guns. Too much racism and now losing your freedoms….don’t get me started on religion..yikes

actors and musicians have classically been the reasons so many canadians would move to the states. lot of the less... nice... doctors would move to the states to victimise the statians, they made a LOT of money by moving. as to your suggestion that children in the states aren't being shot daily in the states... time to check out a list of shootings, it's pretty close. looking at the wikipedia list for this year, i find there's a place called mifflin.

The number one cause of child-death in America is gun shot wound. I would call that a problem, even a huge one.
2023-07-16 0
Uh…and just FYI Tyler….In the United States… “Every year, 19,000 children and teens are shot and killed or wounded and approximately 3 million are exposed to gun violence” …not just 1 or 2 children a year

I have spina bifida and I’ve had 20+ surgeries. I’m not leaving a country that kept me out of bankruptcy and death and kept me from getting shot. I’m white, but I’m not playing Russian Roulette with my life. I just in the last few years discovered cannabis as relief for my chronic pain. I know there are some places where it’s legal, but it isn’t worth the risk for me. I remember visiting LA when I was 12 and hearing about how cool and hip Beverly Hills was. When I got there, it looked worse than the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, which is one of the poorest, most crime filled places in Canada. It was scary. That’s not the kind of “freedom” I’m looking for. You can’t exercise any freedom when you’re 6 feet under.

46 school shootings k-12 last year in the US. That’s an an average of 1.1 shooting per week during the September-June school year. Kids aren’t getting shot in school every day, just every fifth day.

From my point of view, America is like Iran. Don't mean to hurt anyone but politically and religiously without forgeting women right, it's almost the same. I may be considering vacation there but I prefer not to, I would rather live one more day than getting shot for no reason by a junkie or a racist rednect and yeah forget about moving there for all of the above
2023-07-16 0
Not Canadian but... back in the 80s and 90s America seemed like the coolest place ever, cosmopolitan and progressive in a way the UK wasn't. Then I grew up. The Internet got invented. I got to talk to Americans, hear US news and politics that never made it to the UK. Then Trump and Qanon happened. Now there is no way in hell I'd want to live there. Bankruptcy inducing healthcare, religious fanatics everywhere and the risk of getting shot on the daily? No thanks.
2023-07-16 0
Absolutely not! In Canada we help eachother we have health care for all and we don't need to worry about a child being shot in school with an automatic weapon! To add our law enforcement officers serve and protect ! The USA police are corrupt and certainly dangerous!
2023-07-16 0
Children ARE being shot on a daily basis all over the United States! You guys have multiple mass shootings every single day. There's so many of them that you don't even hear about most of them on the news because they aren't worth mentioning.
2023-07-16 0
Nope , probably get shot , mugged , kidnapped , first week there , one thing about living where I live in Newfoundland, I don't need to worry about that , 46 years in Newfoundland, never felt unsafe , in my house, walking in the dark, walking through paths , hiking, the idea of America terrifies me ,

Bro just throw some damn warning shots
2023-07-15 0
THEY HATE AMERICA..... WHICH OF COURSE IS HYPOCRISY... YET THEY WANT TO MIGRATE HERE AND WE ARE JUST ALLOWING THEM TO CROSS THE BORDER AND MOW US DOWN UNDER THE RULE OF HUMAN RIGHTS...... HOWEVER IF THEY TRIED THIS IN NORTH KOREA OR RUSSIA OR CHINA OR PAKISTAN OR IRAN ALL OF THESE PEOPLE WOULD HAVE BEEN SHOT DEAD AND THAT IS A 100% FACT........????......
2023-07-15 0
name another country where ppl invade and aren’t shot on sight?? you can’t
2023-07-14 0
No one would cross the Russian border like that they would all be shot. Only the enemy Wood Cross illegally. How easy would it be for the Taliban or isis to attack from a unprotected border?
2023-07-12 0
Practic religion in your home bringing a knife will get you shot
2023-07-12 0
They are not entitled to enter the US. They don't have a right to. That would be unfair to everyone. \nBut they KNOW that Americans will pay them to work under the table to save money and avoid taxes, so they give it a shot.\nApply to enter legally, do it the right way.\nAnd no, I'm not American.
2023-07-11 0
Fire a few shots and this will be over.
2023-07-11 0
Reason they come they get shots when they entering USA after they get deported to go back home with infected body
2023-07-09 0
These people should be banned from air travel. Unless such actions are taken, no one gives a shot about laws in India.
2023-07-08 0
Sorry but keep them away. Spend that money on Americans. Every major metropolitan city has a drug and homeless problem. \n\nThey are just coming for free shot and we as tax payers cough up the money.

Goverment shot allow danda on flight so that we can get better fight
2023-07-06 0
Texas is a piece of shot.
2023-07-02 0
This is something our ancestors would probably start firing shots for, if you want in America than you should do it the right way, become a citizen. Do you think even when you push past the border then your problems disappear? No you'll just be even more broke only far from home. Get your shit together people
2023-07-01 0
If they was black they will be shot
2023-06-29 0
If i was president we would not have this problem. I would have snipers along the border and after so many people were shot dead for illegal crossing this shit would stop.
2023-06-29 0
Personal you could call that an invasion and go pew pew pew \n\nThere are alot of immigrants who are waitting to get in legally while there are some who bum rush in I think should be shot yes I get your country sucks get in line like the rest

For me, I live in Vancouver, but when I'm done college, I'm hoping to find a job in Seattle and immigrate there. They recently opened up a Pokemon HQ there, Nintendo's hiring, Seattle's the HQ of Bungie, the maker of the Destiny games and much more! I feel like it's easier to find a job in the US than in Canada. In fact, my college instructor said so. There's more jobs there than in this small town. I'm heading towards SFU and I'm hoping to land a few coops, including one in Seattle to see if I like it there. And no, I do not care about healthcare, mass shootings or politics. The chances of you randomly being shot is about the same as getting ran over by a car. For healthcare, it's usually provided by your employer. But otherwise, you can buy it yourself as there's many options to choose from. Some of them are really good, but people are just overgeneralizing everything. My hope is that employment will eventually lead to permanent residency. Then, I can go buy a house in Texas, Florida or Colorado where it's much cheaper than Vancouver

If this was happening in China or Russia most of them would of been shot attempting to invade their borders. Here we kick homeless Veterans out of ten housing for them.
2023-06-20 0
Good way to end ur migration by getting ur ass shot! Got to stop the invasion of our country’s
2023-06-18 0
Start peppering people up wit that bird shot
2023-06-18 0
Truth , if they were black shots would have been fired. U have ur own country don’t forget that
2023-06-17 0
These prople are criminals and should face lethal force to stop tbeir criminal behaviours\nNo arrests just turn back and leave or you may be shot.\nPretty strong incentive to immigrate in a legal manner.

Damn. White folks loved me out there. I had all good experiences. Sorry it's bad for y'all. But I like fishing n shooting guns n drank mad beer with them so I dunno they liked me. Took me fishing n on speedboats. I had a great time there. Maybe you got an attitude issue. You look kinda b*tchy. I was in Drayton Valley too. Millionaire boss took me fishing and treated me to lunches. Shot guns with em, drank beers, worked on their houses, let me stay on their land, super nice ppl. In actuality some of the nicest ppl I have encountered in life thus far.
