I love both Canadians & Americans. However, in my travels, I have felt Americans to be more tribal. People hold on to their political identity so hard it alienates others. Its starting to happen more here, but its common to put the person before the politics. I tried to emigrate for years to Canada. I speak 9 languages, C1 (IELTS) and graduated as a French teacher in Albania and later Switzerland. Have a work experience in my field and are with my husband and child law abiding citizens. We tried for years and between IELTS tests and Credentials assessment it took a good chunk of our finances, yet we weren't deemed to be enough to emigrate to Canada. Even raised my child bilingual in English Albanian so she could adjust better and integrate. What kind of policies are these that repel people that are willing to integrate, that try to come there legally and respecting your laws and immigration programs and open the door to law breakers? I just wanted a simple life and a teaching job while holding the utmost respect for the people and the country. All this thing makes me sad, but also makes me feel stupid for wanting to do things legally or that i believed Canada was a country where law was respected.

I honestly feel like if this kind of thing continues, North America is going to end up as a new India in terms of overpopulation. the more population there is the harder it will be to provide food. the harder it is to provide food, sustainability will sink and there will be a situation that is nearly uncontrollable, more and more people will be unhappy, The complexity in how prices are rising with inflation of food and housing is bad enough. Imagine this scenario too though, imagine a time where there are so many people that do need hospital assistance, and the waiting rooms are beyond filled. the lack of space, the lack of medical attention for people because there are too many people and not enough doctors in the first place anyway. We must not forget, the amount of jobs to person ratio in existence and the new difficulty factor to get an entry level job these days compared to some 20 years ago. Some jobs such as cashiers are being replaced by self serving stations, so that reduces jobs, even if it doesn't pay all that much, it is something to help if someone is living with family and might only be able to find that for starters until they find something better paying, at least it gives them work experience. The facts have to be looked at in what is happening in many aspects, but there are a hell of a lot of opinionated people that seem to be just fine with the situation, maybe because they themselves are in a sweet position, in a sweet spot and are supported big time to where some others are struggling medically and financially.

Name a developed country with high immigration doesn’t have any kind of crisis. 4. People think moving foreign makes their life rich and lavish. Once again none can do that without hard work. As a punjabi Canadian who's parents came here over 50 years ago. Watching international students abuse things like food banks makes my blood boil beyond belief. One of the things I've always loved most about being Canadian is our reputation for being kind, caring, polite and helpful.\n\nIndia has a very different mindset, it's much more cutthroat and people are taught to find and abuse any and every advantage they can. When I was younger it was always really fun watching new families come here because the difference in mindset was so refreshing to them and it wasn't uncommon for them to want to very enthusiastically be a part of it.\n\nNow I see families come from India and they seem almost offended by the idea of wanting to contribute or help improve the communities and areas they live in. In the past they could see for themselves that mindset made things better for everyone, but because there's so much immigration now, they tend to move into areas where other new immigrants are also living and getting exploited by other slightly less recent immigrants. That cutthroat mentality is all they see and feel, everyone is looking to get something from them and give nothing back. So they do the same, and attempts to show them the things I love most about Canadians is perceived as just another hustle trying to take advantage of them.\n\nNobody is happy with this, nobody wins.

This shit is ridiculous, I’ve seen it in real time 90 min outside of Toronto, living in a quiet city as 5 years ago. Now there are traffic jams from 2 pm until 7 pm in the city, and endless traffic when driving 30 km in any direction on the highways. A few weeks ago it took me 5 hours to drive 75 miles. Every single gig economy job is bursting at the seems with people who are useless for any other kinds of work. The scariest thing is no one is going to have the balls to send people back to where they came from. Especially the conservative party. They will bend over faster than a one legged whore when it comes time to do their overlords biddings.

As a native Jamaican, I can attest to the Canadian natives, that's how our government treats us also, they treat us as foreigners and strangers while providing all the best treatments to the actual foreigners.. A Jamaican has to wait for hours in a line even in the hot sun or the rain, while a foreigner would be attended to immediately as they arrive, and the list goes on, so I can sympathize with the native Canadians.. I'm not saying that they should not be treated with kindness and respect, but what about the born citizens?? Have they totally forgotten that the nation is actually the people, and the power that they possess was given to them by the people?? But on the other hand, some Canadians shouldn't be complaining, because they had it in their grasp, but didn't appreciate it, so it departed, and unfortunately, it seems it has landed in the hands of the majority of immigrants that don't appreciate it either.. But I'm sure there are some that really appreciate the opportunity.. I myself would, because I don't have it here in Jamaica.. So it's also partially some of the citizens' fault, but mainly the government's nevertheless..

I want them to be people who keep their word, like when they agreed to return home after finishing school. They are not refugees, we owe them nothing. They should go home and re-apply to become landed immigrants, like everyone else had to do who came here in the past. I live in Quebec and out there and the ROC, I am freaking out how more and more people struggle to make ends meet and survive - just the Housing problem alone, it is freaking obscene and it is no longer a big city problem. I hail from a city in Northern Quebec and out there, many people have to say goodbye to the dream of owning their home. Vancouver and Toronto are out of control, Montreal is following suit. You know it is bad when more and more Canadians consider moving to Mexico or Portugal, like Americans. When we arrived, adapting/integrating Canadian values, especially work ethics, was a big deal for us. Those first few years were tough, we really had to hustle to improve our lives. Now, a decade later, we're both in pretty solid tech and science jobs. Our child had the incredible privilege of being born in Canada, and that fills me with immense joy.\n\nIt wasn't just our own grit that got us where we are now; we owe a lot to the incredibly welcoming Canadians we met along the way.
