Why are people leaving? BEcause in the last 7 years we made a huge mistake of letting in too many people and spent less time developing ourselves and infrastructure. Way too many came and got seated in the usual big cities where things are getting worse. Right now there is a gradually increasing anti-immigrant sentiment, especially towards East Indians, Bangladeshiis and Pakistanis, and there is a worry about having existing culture turning too Islamic and Hindu. So you can often hear some pretty racist things or read some pretty racist stuff online.\n\nThe problem isn't immigration. Immigrants are amazing and we need them, but our country didn't play the long game and let in too many too fast. Right now esp[ecially for Bangladeshiis and Indians, is that ,many are coming illegally and getting a REFUGEE status, paying their own to do this who work in lawyerships [and you shoudl see the scamming being done by Indian and Bangladeshi Canadians who are just taking their former countrymen for everything they are worth!]: Canada is like a person taking on too much all at once and then resenting its choices once it becomes responsible for them. Between bad decisions and some very seedy practices by immigrants coupled with the general greed to own land....and you have a modern crisis.

Hi Febby, stumbled upon your video and wanted to know your experience in Canada. As someone who was born in Canada and left, I wanted to know about some current sentiment, especially by younger people. I think you had some interesting information. I'm actually sad to hear that crime and homelessness has gotten even worse, especially in places like you mentioned, DTES. One thing I want to share with you about the housing issue. Canada acts like a Federation. Meaning that a lot of decision making is delegated to the provincial and municipal level. Yes, Canada has goals for immigration. That's a super valid goal because every developed country is going through declining birth rates. Canada wants to lessen the damage that will be felt by so many other countries like Italy, Germany, China, Japan, etc. The issue with this federated government is like you said, a disconnect between goals and readiness. However, I really feel this will never be accomplishable because of all the lobbying that occurs at the municipal level that the Federal and even Provincial level government cannot control. Yes, there may be shortages in labour to do development, but even then, I really think that lobbying and corruption is keeping adequate supply from being built. From the homeowners and the perspective of the wealthy property owners, they want to keep the valuation of housing high by keeping supply low. Why else is the municipal government keeping such archaic zoning laws? From what I could find, there has been some talk about changing this (https://bc.ctvnews.ca/b-c-to-table-housing-law-targeting-outdated-zoning-rules-1.6627260) but I struggle to see anything really being done. That's probably because of lobbying. The immigration laws set by the government had too many loopholes and flaws ultimately. I don't think we are getting enough productive immigrants. Actually, the opposite seems to occur a lot. The wealthy from the countries I mentioned are abusing the immigration policies in Canada to transfer and preserve their wealth in Canada. I think it has hid in plain sight for a long time, and people have started talked about it in the last 5-10 years because of the struggles of housing affordability from the middle class. What about the immigrants that really want to start a life in Canada and find opportunities like you said? The housing is too expensive for them to do that. Really chicken and egg problem like you mentioned. And this issue can't readily be fixed with the way Canadian government operates. Look forward to hearing your thoughts. So basically, Canadian govt. data says Indians who are citizens as per 2021 are 1.3 million i.e. 2.5 % of the total population..lets add almost half a million more in terms if students and work permit guys... I would like to add something here to show my gratitude towards Canada. \nI immigrated in Canada and now a Canadian citizen. The best thing Canada has given me are equal opportunities, and system to adopt. \nWhen we immigrated to any country we should respect and obey the rules, culture and values of country. \nIt is hard to say but nowadays some kind of immigrants consultant become greedy and comming students also become blind followers that they are not doing research by themselves. \n\nCanada has very clear and easy to follow immigration rules that any one with basic education can read and understand. There is no place where it is written to give guarantee to PR or extension of the work permit beyond the limit. Usually anyone taking decision to immigrate any another country then obviously need to do some basic and easy home work. \n\nIt is totally not fare and ethically right to protest in the host country to change their clearly defined rules after landing despite of accepting terms while submitting the studen visa. So my humble respect to prospective immigrants and existing students that protesting to change rules in Canada should not be right way to do instead of protest against greedy and lying immigrants consultants who lied with you to save next students and immigrants.

I was just saying to a friend recently Indians have degraded the standards of everything, including the banks, the food industry, and everything they can put their hands on. Cibc and Scotiabank used to be open on the weekends now you can't even go there to do businesses all becuase they have degraded the standards of the banks ihop food is way below standards the only things they are doing right is building decent houses. Every immigrant needs to go through the proper process not the easiest way. We paid large amounts of money to enter Canada and we were interviewed to be accepted. That should be the standard. Over population is a problem and straining the health care system and the housing system. Vote the right government in to balance things out. If you are a Canadian you can protest because you pay taxes, but if you have not been here too long, sorry, you have to respect the system and not change it!

Some facts are true but honestly its not that bad.. people do qualify for mortgages with 80k income as well.. may be a smaller house.. and the point where they mention we will pay debt for the rest of our life think of the time when our parents took loan to build houses in india and they paid a debt as well. May be just move to a different city like move to Delhi from punjab and buy a home there. Its crappy, I'm at the point in my life where me and my fiancée are making more money then we ever have, but its going no where. We need immigrants, we do not need this much. I go on tiktok and there are tutorials for people coming into this country on how to obtain free food, like from food banks and what not, spite the fact we have minimum funding requirements for students coming here. It sucks, because the minimum isn't high enough for somebody to actually live off, and its taking food away from desperate Canadians who really need it. Some of my best friends are immigrants, and it sucks to try to speak up about it, only to be bashed as a bigot or xenophobic. I'm not either of those things, we just have a HUGE issue caused by a massive influx of people. Its not the people's fault, its the failure of our government. I have no issues with anybody who wants to live a better life, I have massive issues with a government letting new immigrants experience a mediocre, and overpriced, life at the cost of everybody else's life getting WAY more expensive and difficult. My rent for a 2bd apartment in 2014 was $770 all included, Grocery bill was about 170 every two weeks. That has all tripled in the last 10 years, Legit tripled. *Only mentioning those two, because they have gone up the most, but EVERYTHING has gone up. (about 2-3x) Its crazy to think when I was making 8-10 dollars less an hour, I had more money, it went MUCH further.

Thank you for the information, but the way you share the 8 points sounds like a spoiled child complaining. I wish you could give an example of a country doing better in at least 4 things. Homeless people are everywhere. As for non-aggressive homeless, I cannot say. Racism towards blacks or other minorities compares to other developed countries. Taxes are high on a salary because one has a salary at least. So what I am trying to say, these are issues I agree. I would instead call them areas for improvement, and a country like Canada can do better.

I am so glad that this is getting talked about now. I have to pay for school this September and I still don't have a job. I have been applying to places for over a year at this point and I have heard absolutely nothing from any of them. I always suspect its because companies would rather pay 50% of a full salary to an immigrant as opposed to a full salary for a Canadian citizen, and to be fair, I don't blame them. If I didn't wanna lose money, I'd do it too, which is why its a completely ridiculous way to operate things! Once I get older, I'm getting out of Canada. They all immigrate to PEI because it is the quickest way to seek citizenship in the country, as soon as they gain it they move to Ontario. I have met many wonderful people from India through work and because of our government choosing to allow so many people over here without providing proper housing for not only the new immigrants, but also for our own native born citizens, there is nothing available at any decent price for young people like myself who want to move out from their parents homes. It's also causing a lot of people to be racist towards Indians when the fault truly lies in our government. And because we are allowing so many people over here without proper background checks and things such as that we are also allowing people over here that could pose a threat to women or others. I had a cab driver last week (who was from India) who tried to hit on me and told me he left India because he was getting into too many physical fights over in India and also told me he had gotten into physical fights with some of his customers as well. It was scary for me as a woman to be in a car with that man who was taking me to my home. The government needs to do better for us. We feel alone and ignored when it comes to this. The greed pushing this stupid, and not properly thought out, immigration policy needs to be put to an end so that the people who have lived here their whole lives can get a chance at life.

Why move somewhere else if you want the same things as your country of origin? My family moved to Canada when I was little and we adapted to the way of living here! We wanted THIS way of living which is why we moved! It's infuriating when you know that so many people are desperate to move here and are being refused while others want the country to change for them....

Canada is the most beautiful country in the world that’s its usp , again we Indians can learn something from Canada is the way they preserved their nature that is remarkable that gives them good oxygen rich air , water and hygiene that Indian people are far away or never witnessed in their life. We don’t have any greenery in our country we really need to work on improving that but neither the people nor the government is interested in making good changes or even have such idea in head ! Along with that Canada has strong tax system you really get tax return as well as strong labour protection act that guards its resident from exploitation and employees can sue the employer if exploitation is provable on table with facts. India doesn’t have any strong labour protection body this results even in corporate jobs you have to work more than 8 hours and no OT , plus Canada has EI (employment insurance) so that means is , if you loose your job for any reason you will get government assistance to help to pay your bills till you find your next job. Plus disability benefits , food banks , freedom to live your life the way you want, you can eat what you want, religion based stupidity doesn’t exist in that country. So yes it’s true I don’t like the Canadian PM either but overall Canada is really good country and we Indians can learn atleast some good things they carry and adapt to our country and make India bit better place to live. The moment some says truth we Indians start bashing and may say go to Canada but we don’t realize our own problems and don’t wanna work.

Canada has become so ugly, it's full of sky scrapers in major cities, we have way too many Fake refugees that Trudeau let in, in large number in such a short time. The politicians are corrupt to the core because they're all bought by The WEF. The price of housing is unreal for crappy homes and apartments, the health sector is the pits, and many people don't even have a family, doctor and like you say people die on the corridor of hospital without even having been checked thoroughly at the E.R. Heavy traffic, low wages, unaffordable food prices, corruption at the highest level in the Govt., no real services for people that experience distress in this dystopia and censorship that is beyond this world. People either rise and change things as there is no political solution in this shitty Banana Republic.

Some indians are nice people but many of them are not adopting canadian culture. I have noticed they don't care about food safety or the environment doing things like pumping out the septic tanks into the storm drain on the street. They also don't respect others the same way we do, like leaning on cars that don't belong to them, cooking things that create tons of smoke and bad smells then venting it into the neighbours apartment. Who were in Canada before white people migrated there? The Indigenous people went from being the ethnic majority to getting wiped out and white people claimed the country as their own. I traveled with my son and mother, we drove from Montreal to Florida . Did several stops along the way . Visited many things and I have to say it was a magnificent trip, my son was 5 at the time and made many new friends. For us it was very enjoyable. Our visit lasted one month. Everything is fragile you know. When you allow certain foreigners in a country and teach them to adapt to the culture, they get the best of living in a developed country by following their own personal beliefs. On the other hand, if you allow a huge amount of population at the same time from 3rd world countries, they become the majority, start doing politics, they don't adapt to new things, ultimately they will come up with extreme religious beliefs, their old culture, corruption, greed and can ultimately drag it down to a 2nd world country! Every country has more or less potential, the reason behind being so poor is connected to many reasons but at least 50% is because of corruption, their way of thinking, thus, mass immigration can never be a solution! Developed countries' leaders do not care about any people, they want people to keep their country's position economically high and now distracting the young generation with transgender issues with the name of so-called freedom. Maybe Western people now should start working on their life rather than taking everything for granted, maybe changing gender is not to be proud of or the only way to get attention but rather do something for your country, work, be involved in politics, be aware of life, travel with purpose, stop worshipping celebrities and understand the consequences of life in every step and you can be replaced by anywhere anytime!

Irony is all these people who are getting interviewed are first and second generation immigrants as well. Our feds are actively promoting with advertising to come to Canada in India. I don't know this for sure but a few Indians have posted comments to this effect to me...So, I don't so much as blame the Indians for wanting to come when our government is actively promoting such things. Studying in Canada is a trap. The standards of universities and colleges do not meet the job market requirements. The PGWP (Post-Graduation Work Permit) and PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) systems are traps for international students, giving them false hope that they can get PR (Permanent Residency) if they do certain things. These programs just bring in money for colleges and universities. Students borrow loans to study at these institutions. 1) The Indian government should ban student loans for studying in Canada. The Australian system is much clearer and more transparent, and it does not fluctuate like the stock market. 2) Canadians should come forward and tell the Indian media or directly inform people in India that Indians are not welcome, because many in India are unaware of this, and by the time they realize, it’s too late. 3) An easy way to get Canadian PR is to declare Themself a Khalistani supporter. .......Protest of Khalistan is okay but not okay for Visa extension

It used to be easier to live here. Housing costs doubled in even the past 5 years. Everyone who has lived here for a long time who are not immigrants are facing similar barriers. The landscape here changed so radically that communities feel colder since everyone is forced to leave their community every time they have to move and everyone they know is now an hour away.\n\nCanada is still wonderful in many ways, but inner city life harder, colder and more expensive. \n\nThe amount international students are told they need is based on Canadian averages and not the inner city of Toronto and so many are met with shock and difficulty. \n\nAlthough, locals are not entirely sure why people came expecting things to be easier at the same time struggle was already happening. The policy makers come from rich classes and are very disconnected.

Canada’s statistics are no different than Australia, USA and France for example in terms of homelessness and home ownership. Our foreign born population is about 20% -Australia it’s 22% - the USA the most immigrant fearing nation around has only 13% - that’s something to strive for lady!. \n\nCanada needs immigrants and lots of them to fill positions Canadian borns are too posh to do. \n\nWorld wide interest rates are high, housing developers are running into delays with things like world wide shortages and local communities having long convoluted permit processes, and volatile prices for home construction materials etc. \n\nWe Canadians are happy to buy from Chinese and USA manufacturers to the point we depend yet again on global markets. \n\nThe bottom line is the Provinces have authority over housing and haven’t wanted the Federal Government to butt in at all. It’s something that we have CMHC for mortgages and assistance to developers - but where are the developers? Not enough profit these days is there. \n\nI think we the people have failed in many ways. We need a scape goat and Trudeau is a very handy target. \n\nCanadians aren’t interested in repopulating by having more than one or two kids and so in order to sustain our economy and fill positions where do people think skilled and unskilled workers are coming from. Apparently being a nurse for example is not an occupation our children want nor do they want to clean toilets or work at Walmart or 7-Eleven. \n\nWe love shopping at Walmart with all its cheap Chinese goods and refuse to shop local businesses. \nWe get what we deserve. Nope..because half of the time in a year your land is covered with ice..so how do you survive without food in winter? basically you guys sell your things and services to other countries and survive on that..being the second largest consumer in the world..we indians are adding values to your GDP from years..and the facilities you are shouting after the most, the free food, the free shelter, the free dentist provided by your country is earned by your country from other countries..but do we survive on your products and services? No we can produce it in our own country like China does..all greatest brains are here in india as 20% of the world’s living in india..if you guys continue to behave like this with indians we will surely do that movement..can’t we produce our own food in our country? Yes we can..our land is not covered with ice like yours and we also have good man power..so now you give a really good shake to your head and ask yourself why your country is keep allowing immigrants from different countries..why don’t they ban immigrants from other countries and survive on ice in winter..tell your country to ban indians..it will not take even a day that india will ban all of you and all your products in our country..and start producing on its own..can you produce things you are importing from others? No..but we can..can you survive without exporting? No ..but we can..the greatest Indian philosophy is “Live and let others live” This is the reason we dont want to snatch away other’s way of living and leave them to die in hunger..otherwise we have all the manpower of the world and all the resources in our own country to do our own things..so respect people who are serving your country from other countries and adding value to your GDP..like they are dependent on you for something, you are also dependent on them for other things..that’s the reason your country is not messing with them..you are earning from international students by selling education to them and still complaining about them..then why don’t you ban them and survive on ice..remember india can live without other countries but other countries can’t live without each other..your country is allowing immigrants for a reason and you better understand what is that….You are right because of our never ending resources we are not facing any recession like you are facing right now..you better compare your country’s economy growth graph with india’s economy growth graph then speak about weather the same train is carrying 5 million people in our country or 5 million people of our country are carrying the responsibility of your country’s economy growth..and also analyse how much money your country has borrowed from whom and when then will be able to return it..neither you have resources nor man power..that’s why you added immigrants in your population..they added value to your GDP..still speaking ill about them..horrible hypocrite people first they need you and then will try to use and throw..first you invite international students to your program then take fees from them and then tell them to leave the country..wow..the quality of living you are very proud of shows your weakness..no skills except sarcasm..no work other than drug addiction..

Insane or does things without a clue on the ramifications. Canada is on its way to 3rd world. If You don't think it's happening now you must realise your broke and with Trudeau's help it's going to be worse.

I only see India everywhere ?. Went to Surrey to watch hockey few weeks ago, and yup my friend said yup I'm the only white guy in the city????. Too funny. Nothing I can do to change that so I just laugh. That's the way it is. That's what 'they' believe in. That's the way things are and that's the way it is. Hey, least they not shooting guns or violent to others. Immigration should make it extremely difficult so they in a coma when the stand in line at the immigration offices that would make things better from a Canadian perspective sorry to be rude.

My perspective is a bit different…I grew up in Canada, I lived 4 years in Toronto, 1.5 years in Waterloo, 14 years in Ottawa and 3.5 years in Calgary…overall, just little over 23 years in Canada. I graduated from University of Waterloo and Masters from University of Ottawa. I have a strong educational foundation from Canada, which I am very proud of. I moved to Houston, TX in 2016 and my last 8 years of living in US has nothing but AMAZING!!! While living in Canada, i was never able to save any money. In my last 8 years of working and living in US, I am 90% done paying off my mortgage on a very nice 5800sq feet house in Sugarland, TX. I owe very nice 2024 Lexus and 2023 Mercedes SUV that I can only dream of in Canada…so Canada is good in so many thing (I do have a soft corner for Canada in my heart as I grew up there) but when it comes to opportunities and life style to its full potential…USA is way ahead of the game.
