So many jobless ppl around and not sure where these 1.2 million will live. I'm sure alk of them will hop on to Toronto and make this city New Delhi or Panjab. Work 74 years to pay 1 year’s tuition? Really??\n\nI know that 1 CAD will get you approx. 60 INR, but wages have increased dramatically in India, so I don’t know how the math was done to assert that it would take 74 years to pay 1 year’s tuition.\n\nI checked Alpha college’s tuition fee for 4 semesters or two years, and it’s $31,130 or $15,565 for 1 year, which, in today’s market exchange rate is, less than INR 940,000. \n\nI know and have several relatives in India who makes anywhere between CAD equivalent of $8000 and $20000 per year. Not sure what the wages are in Punjab, but can’t imagine that assertion is correct. Irrespective, I know that even CAD $15,565 is very high for most Indian families.

i am an indian and i dont understand why some indian families particularly in punjab and andhra region are soo obsessed with sending there kids outside for education ??? it has little value in india unless it is an IB league college .. someone going to canada to study commerce or a BSc is very stupid . Finish your graduation in india and give exams for masters . go abroad only if you have a certain good score otherwise it is of no use .

The residents of Punjab state in India are completely obsessed with Canada. It’s to the extent of madness. \nIt’s not that their future was any brighter in punjab . There is a big change happening. Lack of quality education, manufacturing, jobs. Reduced political influence & other states like MP leaving Punjab behind in agriculture. \nSomebody whose future is hopeless in punjab -due to lack of skills , can’t hope to secure a bright future in Canada just by somehow “ghusing” here.

Government of Canada can do a lot to stop the exploitation: run Social media/TV/Print awareness campaigns in local languages in India to inform parents and students about studying in Canada, make it easy to search for programs and colleges/universities, and proactively work with the Government of India and provincial governments in Punjab, Gujarat etc.

I think it only happens with people coming from one part of India that is Punjab.

Don't want to return motherland is the most shameful answer and then comparing that area to India's Punjab only on the basis of crowd is foolishness . I went to Canada in year 2009 after 12 th then I got pr in 2014 .... In year 2016 i leave canada permanent and come back punjab.... So hard life in Canada only work work .... Punjab is best .... Now I'm doing agriculture, poultery farm and bricks bhatha? rental income .... Life in punja. Trust me the only reason I would never move to Canada would be coz of Punjabi’s. You're lucky if you can even find a LEGAL small 1 bedroom basement for $800/month. Its not common. \nA car? Brampton has the highest insurance premium in all of Canada. \n\nDon't get me wrong. I LOVE Canada, I couldn't see myself living anywhere else because it is my home. \nHowever, when you compare it to india, in India you're only paying for electricity, gas, and food that you need to buy at the grocery store. \nBut if you really needed to budget and save money, food is LITERALLY growing in your backyard! All the veggies, fruits, etc. You just need to buy the grains and proteins! \n1.5 lakhs sounds great per month. But 1.5 lakhs is realistically not enough to live in Canada. \n\nDon't believe me? Google cost of living in Canada. Google how much a family of 4 would need to make to survive per month in Canada. Also, make sure to check out CANADIAN WEBSITES for this data. (.ca sites or try Global News or CTV news since they have this data)\n\nThe problem is everyone that comes to Canada always comes only to one area which is usually Toronto! However this makes the cost of living go up to accommodate this many people. Compared to Regina, or St. John's not many people immigrate there! It is a smaller city compared to Toronto but at least it's more affordable.\nDo you're research before coming here. Find out whats the best situation for YOUR FAMILY and what YOU can afford. \nCanada is a beautiful place, and yes, Brampton does have a lot of the Punjab culture, but don't be fooled.
