I left Montreal and never looked back. Sure, I miss my friends, but I think I’d reached a breaking point, both mentally and physically. My experience has been different. Came at age 48 with family mostly for children future. Initial struggle followed by more than 20 years full time work in a company owned by Canadian but most of us working immigrants from different countries. Had a wonderful experience working as a team. Company grew from 5 including owner to about 30 when I retired. Most of of my contribution was from skills I obtained on the job. The flexibility I got was help to spouse and children. The three of them achieved good outcomes. Taxes are high. I never worried about that as children had professional education with no financial help. Only my steady basic facilities provided as I had steady though lower income than what I had back home in relative terms. What we get back from taxes we pay in health civic facilities education for children is great return of taxes paid. What I got was quality living. No luxuries. My purpose of coming here more than fulfilled. Happy family. Grand children now enjoying higher quality of life than what I had or my own children had. I do notice recent trends of immigrants expectations not very encouraging. I have enjoyed the multicultural atmosphere friendship and regard for each other. My colleagues and I have been of great asset to the company we worked in.

I have 12 people living in a 2 bedroom condo above me. The noise and the inconsideration of other’s lives is astounding. This has ruining my quiet enjoyment of life. There seems to be a revolving door up there as well. How did we let this happen. People taking advantage of the system . These are takers not givers. Canada as we knew it is no more. ?

The guy recording this is an arsehole, I'm always kind to delivery workers, 99.9% of problems are actually caused by the restaurant, not the delivery worker. It's only $20 yet the guy is literally mocking the workers accent, for a meal to be delivered there surely wouldn't be much change from $20 anyway so who's the real prick here. I'd just tell the worker to keep the change and enjoy the rest of his evening, the venom in the customers voice can't be justified

To be honest, we do pay for health-care. Through income tax. But income tax is proportionnal to the income of each individual. A Canadian who earns nothing or has a very low income pays no income tax at all and yet, they enjoy care absolutely free, as well as a high income Canadian. Do private insurance companies in the US charge less for poor people? A couple hundreds could be not big a deal for someone earning 100k a year, but at 30k, it’s a whole lot of money.

Lets be practical here lets assume same situation happened in india i am sure some indians would also have been behaved exactly like that way but people just remember one thing it takes generations to be a part of that country it cannot happen just by changing passport enjoy that country and help those countries for giving opportunities but don't forget to come to india if you get persecuted bcoz in india u r us no katter what

I left Canada when I was 18\n\nI’m 48 now and living with my children and their mother here in Argentina currently \n\nI have been to over 70 countries and I have lived over 20 years in Asia itself…\n\nI love traveling, and I love, living places, long-term, and experiencing new cultures \n\nAt first when I left, I felt a bit when I would return because everything seems so boring and mechanical \n\nBut now that I found myself more I really enjoy visiting Canada …. And experiencing the beautiful nature and infinite spaciousness\n\nCanada is a great country, but so are so many other places

But where people had heard that Canada is a affordable country??? It’s not. And this is why we are travelling outside of the country during vacation so we can enjoy our dollar elsewhere where we have minimal taxes. The first immigrant generation will work 50hrs/week to survive and then the second generation will have a much better life… this is how immigration work. Trust me, i am from the second generation.

For licensed doctors I would think that the 4 years would be a snap if you already know the material but beside that , if they went back because they could work in their field in there home country then why did they come here in the first place. Obviously it wasn't violence or fear for their lives.\n If they come here and enjoy the first years but then the reality kicks in when the benefits stop that they may have to work for minimum wage and they now know that a person making minimum wage in Canada is makes you homeless, can't afford a car or the gas, insurance and can only buy food , that they realize that they were better off where they were. It;s time our government informed these people of the harsh reality of how our governments have allowed our once great country to become place where it;s citizens suffer under these financially inadequate conditions that are only made worse by immigration numbers that far exceed our ability to house them. Maybe have them try to support themselves on the income they would get here while they are still in their country, or if it made a condition that our government must prove that they can sustain themselves with minimum wage before they can immigrate then immigration would be denied because heaven help them if minimum wage isn't enough because welfare/odsp is like jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
