Not gonna lie. But Canadian teenagers feel entitled . They don’t want to work which is a shame. That might be a problem with the parents. But a good portion of 20-35 year old living with there parents are white Canadians. Let me be clear before you all slam me. But it is fucking true. Look at the line ups and tell me how many Canadians do you see. None. The problem is they want a job to pay them big money right off the start. We all started somewhere. I worked for 5.35 an hour that was only 20 years ago. That was minimum wage. Ridiculous right!!! But it actually hasn’t moved up much sense then. Saskatchewan is still the lowest minimum wage in all of Canada ( thanks Scott Moe?). I get it. Even right now with the Trudeau government you really can’t make enough money to survive but you have to try.

I met some of these people in Thailand after COVID. There was a small group of Chinese who kept to themselves at our hostel. One day I overheard them in Chinese repeatedly talking about my country Mexico which got me to talk with them. They were quite happy to learn I could speak Chinese but more excited to learn I was from Mexico. They started asking me a bunch of questions about crossing the border into the US to which I bluntly told them I had no idea about and discouraged it. I asked where they got these crazy ideas from and they said that people were posting videos and tutorials of how to cross into the US online. The Chinese government hard handed approach to COVID was what made them leave. They wanted to go both for the freedom and economic benefits but they had a very naive and overly optimistic view of the US. They saw the high wages US workers were making but had no idea as to the incredibly high living costs associated with living there. I tried explaining that there was a housing shortage and that their expectations for life in the US would set them for disappointment but they either didn't believe me or brushed off my criticism. I also tried encouraging them to go to German or Australia instead (places which I feel would be better and easier for them to enter) but they seemed dead set on just going to the US. Unfortunately I don't know where they are now as Wechat is blindly and constantly blocking and deleting accounts in SE Asia without reason......................

Imma be honest I’m not surprised u moved to Canada Asians for the most part are always unaware about what goes on with the economies of the world unless u get your information from the news??.I mean seriously people it’s time to wake up in 2024 of course Canada isn’t a great country it hasn’t been in over 40 years same as my home country here in the USA where more Asians and Indians and Mexicans keep coming here but they will also learn the hard way about America ??.And don’t worry about it what they saying in the news it’s all garbage ?️ the problems in America and Canada including the u.k are server understated part of this is because these are developed countries with everything being so developed why would there be any problems I have talked to many Asians from Thailand and the Philippines ??.They literally told me they see USA as paradise like what the hell honestly because we have streets and expressways everywhere that’s exactly the problem and no agriculture no farming all warehouses and big retailers and no small businesses.All government shitty jobs paying average money we have some of the dirtiest and worst public transportation in the world it is so slow with constant delays and only go through major cities they will never fully extend it out into other areas.Condemning walking and by cycling is freaking insane to me making things more spread out instead of walkable.Allowing the cost of living and inflation to go up while keeping wages the same so your own citizens will get priced out of their own economy to allow foreigners to come in so u can get away with paying them less way to go America,Canada and the u.k.And don’t get me started with all of this dam regulations and laws being made surrounding everything my good ness man I’m so glad I’m leaving America all of these western countries are a hot piece of garbage.

Canada by itself is very WELCOMING, the problem is that you dive into the trap, there only ONE way to do this right, GIVE TO ALL IMMIGRANTS TIME BUFFER, like 1-2 year, don't destroy them from the start, it`s like I call friends to my home, I will say hey please feel free like in your house, but then ill throw them dirt to a face and ask them hey please be clean in my house go find place where to wash up and don't use my towel. I know of a situation where a canadian woman was living with a man who after he got his pr call the cops on him saying he rape her. He is now in jail because of her lie and can't wait to leave as this seems to be the norm for women there to use the men then get them in jail by lying to the cops. The government needs to start looking into this or canada will become a place no one will want to even visit.

We had to move out from Brampton bc it become terrible place to live. 3000 sq ft beautiful homes in nice subdivision. House next to us, 4 families in one house crowded like rats. Indian music playing laud in garage on Sundays. About 15 kids seating on top of 6 ft fence staring in our backyard. Couldn’t enjoy life anymore. Crime start to spike. Today people blame on Liberals, however that was during Conservative government of Brian Mulroney. Those immigrants destroy city. I hope they all leave Canada.

The US cant continue to support this mass migration due to financial unsustainability and at the expense of Americans who are struggling and need support. Its outrageous that we have homeless populations ,vets and working Americans , families who cant afford housing not getting the help they need because resources are being diverted to support illegal migrants. Thats not fair nor is it right. Tax payers money is being diverted for this and Americans need to demand accountability from Dem government officials starting with the Inept Biden administration for enabling this chaos .The fentanyl epidemic is also originating from Mexico and their cartels who have infiltrated the US and have set up distribution points in country via open borders which is driving criminal enterprise fueling mass addiction and driving high mortality rates in vulnerable population s in the US..

As Canadian born raised here we've tremdious growth over the decades specially inside areas outside the GTA. One the biggest issues facing everyone here besides immigrants is taxes / inflation. Our government only looks at those coming from India as cash cow to keep things rolling economically more people more taxes are paid. Canada needs to start being more economic minded by reducing all taxes abroad to make cost of living more affordable.

Liberal PM Cretian was elected in 1993. He ended the Federal housing programs, and shifted the responsibility for building social housing to the provinces. Of course the provinces did nothing in response. The municipal governments put in a lot of regulation, I suppose to protect the environment, and NIMBY. Home builders only built profitable homes, which were tiny condos in towers. The risks and rewards were pushed onto the private sector, meaning only the rich could participate in the overheated housing market. Then the PRC decided to start a global plague via a badly managed bioweapons lab, causing massive inflation across the planet. The problem is complex, because humans are too stupid to manage the planet properly. Canada is just a symptom of human overpopulation and idiocy.

In the 1960s Canada was building homes to accommodate the Boomer wave they saw coming. It was planned.\nToday Canada sets high immigration targets, planned. But does not build homes for those people.. failure to plan. Growing the nation is a great idea, but you have to plan. Fail to plan, plan to fail.\n\nCanada can improve very quickly, all the government has to do is pull it's boot up off the neck of business. Cut red tape, repeal bad laws, tell the cities to fix zoning and shrink their bureaucracy. Build cheaper homes and profit from scale. Build starter homes for the masses, not McMansions for the elite. Young people need a place they can afford, so they can feel secure and start a family.

I'm a Brit who has lived here 13 years and my advice to any Brit thinking of moving here is not to. If you can live in a nice county and you have a decent job you are better off in the UK. There is a lot of decline in urban areas here, tweaking drug addicts and tent encampments the likes the UK has NEVER seen. It's incredibly expensive to rent if you want to live anywhere remotely interesting. The infrastructure is so bad, unless you have a vehicle or lots of money to keep flying, you will feel incredibly isolated here. Brits are lucky to have such a great network of public transport and close proximity to Europe and all the cheap flights to get you around there. The work life balance is not as good as the UK. Most jobs here will start you on 2 weeks a year and only increase as your service grows. So after 5 years of service you will get 3 weeks and so on. Don't expect 5 weeks vacation until you have put 20 years in with most jobs. Canada is boring, it really is and so are most Canadians who also seem to have no idea what a sense of humour is. I have found new immigrants to be the friendliest, especially those from China, India, Vietnam and the Philippines. Now to the wokeness of the place, oh gosh, it's so bad. The Alberta premier has just announced very sensible and much needed gender reforms which 95% of Canadians agree with. These reforms will protect young gay kids mostly. The left have completely lost their mind over this. Women here are in genuine fear of speaking out regarding their privacy and rights to single sex spaces and sports. In the UK , this is slowly improving I believe. I'm putting things in place so I can leave. I hope things improve once the liberal government are gone but it will take many years to get this country back on track.

Toronto resident here. I do agree with everything that Alina pointed out. Those thing exist. But the only REAL problem is the high cost of rent. It now equals and even surpasses the cost of a mortgage. If the rent problem were resolved, and they can do this by simply building more housing (which they are now starting to do - with government programs and incentives), then most of these problems Alina reported on would recede or disappear completely. \n\nAlso, the homelessness is not visually worse than anywhere else I've visited. Homeless encampments are visible in every city I've been too. However, in Toronto, a LOT of homeless people come from other parts of Canada. \n\nThe violence that Alina referred to was just a snapshot in time. She made her video around 4 months ago, and at that time there were several truly shocking incidents on the subway (which even made international news). Those incidents have not continued. The subway system, and Toronto, is still a very, very safe city. We are the third largest city in North America, after LA and NYC, and we had something like 50 homicides last year. Chicago has like 500. Just by way of example. \n\nI love Toronto, even though it is very expensive to pay rent here. But there is so much to offer that I wouldn't consider living somewhere else. Not a chance. It's great that you can live somewhere else if you work remotely, but when you're not working, what do you do?...Toronto is safe, clean (except in tourist season), with limitless opportunities for career and lifestyle. Wouldn't live anywhere else.

I'm an immigrant and my immigrant friends and I were talking about exactly this just the other day. I'd like to add some context on why so few international students stay: they can't. Schools prey on this very fact. In international recruiting, these schools use the promise of thriving local industries and trot out graduates working locally as major draws to these expensive programs. Then once students are in Canada, many of these schools couldn't care less: they offer little or sometimes no housing support, no immigration advice (or in my case and many of my friends' cases: they give straight-up false immigration advice that can screw you over or even get you in trouble). There absolutely needs to be regulation and accountability for these predatory schools; I think a good starting point would be capping the number of visas they can apply for based on the number of housing units available (either on-campus or via local development subsidy and homestays). Tons of students come to Canada completely unprepared due to false promises made by these schools, and then get spit out into an egregiously inefficient and broken work visa system.\nMy immigrant friends and I are all highly skilled in our specific field. There are only a handful of people in the world (let alone in Canada) who can do what I do at the level I do it, so I would be incredibly difficult to replace if I left Canada. Despite that, and despite being Canadian-educated (Canadian resources invested in me that you'd want to keep in Canada), remaining in Canada has been a massive struggle for me and my friends. We individually spend hundreds and even thousands of dollars every year to apply for permits that have to be renewed annually, but take the government 6+ months to process. Because the government is so backed up, we have to apply for *extra* permits to bridge that gap (more money, and more work added to IRCC's already-long line of applications). I'm in limbo for the majority of the year where I can't switch employers, can't leave the country, etc. It's horrible. \nBut I have it better than most. Of the international students in my year, only I and one other student are still in Canada because the transition to work permits is so needlessly long and difficult. Even a graduate who does manage to get a work permit might have to sit unemployed for 6 months or more before that permit is active. How is a student supposed to survive without work for that long? In order for employers to even apply to sponsor a graduate, they often have to do a lengthy labor market impact assessment, and so these graduates are stuck in a holding pattern, and they're the lucky ones. Immigration is absolutely vital to Canada and I hate how quickly these stories turn to xenophobic rhetoric, but we have to make space in the conversation to take a look at how schools are exploiting students and policy loopholes, and why they're doing it, and address those problems. The current system isn't fair to anyone.

These government officials need to stop pretending that ALL international students are victims here. Let me be clear, yes some are, BUT, A LOT of them commit fraud to come here and other different countries. I used to think all international students were rich when I moved here, as tuition for them can be 3 to 4 times more expensive. Then I started realising how wrong I was, with so many that can't afford food, housing stc. Then I heard about the loan scam, where potential students would borrow money from essential loan sharks to prove they have the minimum amount to qualify for a student visa, get accepted then give the money back, paying back a fee of course. If this is a widely known thing, the government DEFINITELY knows about it too

At least in Ontario the problem is that for several years now tuition fees have been frozen for domestic students. They have not been indexed even by inflation, even when inflation was skyrocketting. And remember that the provincial government pays extra to higher ed institutions for each domestic student they accept. So of course to manage their budgets colleges and universities started to invite more international students, for where else can they get money from? University admins have been trying to explain this simple math to provincial government leaders, with no success. It's all good when you're a greedy landlord collecting rent, or a crooked private college collecting thousands of dollars. These are young kids who are being exploited by our country. On the other end of the spectrum, you have single occupancy residents living in multi-million dollar mansions with no declared income. We need targeted immigration strategy isolated to each province. We need provincial and municipal governments to start building affordable public housing again as they did in decades past. Expecting private developers to build housing is ridiculous. I am a son of immigrants, i am Canadian, I have a great job but I live in Vancouver. The average house in my neighbourhood is 1.7 million dollars. I think that is criminal.

it shouldn't even be a question. we are accepting way too many. it would not be a problem if we spent the last decade or two focusing on improving health care, expanding transportation and infrastructure, attracting jobs, building homes and so on. unfortunately we didn't do that sufficiently. we haven't even started to see the implications of this yet. in 5-10 years time the situation for everyone is going to be more dire than it has been in the last 1-2 years. we are in for very rough times all because we have an addiction to electing utterly useless governments no matter which side of the ideological aisle they sit on. if you think there's a lack of housing, not enough doctors, overcrowded transit systems etc now, it'll be a shock in years time. even if we started to improve these things now, it is not going to keep up to the demand

We need to slow down immigration and international students, find other ways to boost GDP other than tuitions. If we have workers shortage, we Canadians have to get out of our couch and start working maybe 2-3 full time jobs per person on average and works 100 hrs a week (the government can help by lowering income tax and payroll tax, and increase the property tax). Nothing is free, and we can't enjoy our benefit while not working enough hours (rn we are paying with our future economy)

This present government makeing great mistake to bring huge amount of international students specially from south Asian poor country Reuther then rich country. More than 25% disappeared from the institute other 35 to 40 %study on line without attending in institute start looking job to manage their expenses and tuition fee and sending money to their parents in back home. Government need to thing very carefully to stop this type loophole before bringing international students in this country. This is malticultureal country bringing from all over world as a same ratio not specific few countries. Students work permit must be stop on mater any argument or requist ,questions . Stop capping our resource sectors so much , start ramping up the procurement and processing of those resources . Our processes are way more eco friendly than the other main international providers . It would help drastically reduce emissions from non eco friendly sources while providing our economy with the huge boom it needs to upgrade our housing production and infrastructure. The housing is something the government should have seen earlier, stepped in to start creating homes itself. It is too expensive for small companies to build or they are forced to sell what they build at a small margin or lose to regular people. Most other cases they are up against giant companies like BlackRock who use houses as investment. The hands off approach of the Liberals and Conservatives has lead us to a housing shortage. We need to build housing, and it is quite apparent that private companies too small to compete or too big to bother. The government and Canadians are going to have to solve this ourselves, and build more housing.

My advice look for a country or city with more conservative values. If that means they have high Christian or Buddhist populations that's not necessarily a bad thing. Probably a good thing. People of faith often have the most respect for other people of faith. Also the society may be more socially conservative. As a Christian I find the secular and left leaning governments open to people of faith, especially Christians. I think its a matter of time before other faiths start copping more heat and restrictions. I'd stay away from lots of Europe as things are heating up after the issues they've had and the rise of the left and the right at the extreme ends.

Today, it is 180$ for the same 2 bags. this is NOT a 10% increase... but almost the double in price!\n\nRent, in Quebec province, have gone from around 1,000$ to 2,400$ in less than 5 years, and each time a tennant leave his place, the landlord rise (against the law but nobody can do anything) the rent often by 25 to 40%!!! I read an article recently that Canada is running their immigration like a shady fly by night credit card company. It doesn't matter to them about honoring the terms as long as they can get enough people to sign up. But soon enough (and it's starting to happen) word is going to get out that it's not really that great and the number of people signing on is going to plummet.\nThe Canadian government doesn't care about the immigrants as people, all they are is numbers to keep our overall GDP propped up, meanwhile per capita GDP is in a freefall.

60 y.o., born and raised in Canada. My wife and I left for Turkey. We had to leave because it became apparent that we would be living in poverty come retirement. In Canada, if you don't have a union job or a government job, your life will end up in a dead end like ours did. If you worry about the future, your feelings are probably justified and you should start looking for a way out as we did.
