Saving of 35-45% tax can easily buy a descent plan. Canada is great but the cost of living is far more greater! In long run, Canada will become more occupied by Indians and other third world countries immigrants who like to raise large family to maximize their welfare and send children to school for free. The employers like cheap labour and bigger consumer size so they support Treadue. The foreign students in my company ridiculously work more than study. Bureaucratic inefficiency is also prevailing in many governmental bodies, federal and provincial alike. Large private companies are not much better.

Hey, to all you people from Europe, how about you take a look at what your own country did in the middle east, aswell as what America did. \n\nDid your countries not go there? I am a Serbian and Canadian living in Canada for the last 24 years. I love \nthis country I respect this country but my God is so much different than it used to be or it is me. This summer I went with my kids and wife to 6 different countries in Europe Eastern Europe and Central and have seen 2 alcoholic then I come to Canada I see thousands of drug addicts on the street. everything is overpriced ppl do not enjoy in here. When I came in 2000 Serbian economy was low due to the war now it is better and Canadian economy is worse so the gap is very small. you need to make 6000$ to live just ok and I do live well but there is always but. I call it a pressure cooker, I wish all Canadian travel abroad a bit just to realize that they were lied too and that there's a lot of bs. I can give you an example: Condo in Belgrade same size property tax is 200$ per year condo in Qc Gatineau 2500$ plus condo fees 400$ per month basically 7000$ wasted for what? no dr wholes on the street broken system. It will be for sale. I agree paying taxes on my house where I live but for rental property when you deduct all the expenses you invested so much money without any profit. the one that works and the one that scams the system make the same amount of money and we live approx the same. something is wrong there. I will live for many years to come but definitely not spending my whole life here due to many circumstances and expenses. Family values are getting killed and I have issues with that. The more I was pushed to change the more I went to church and believed in old fashioned traditional values. As you said I will always be grateful for what I made but working hard for two jobs in the last 20 years I would make that somewhere else too. What triggers me the most fake approach when ppl say I make 100k wow then you didn't get that, that is only on the pay stub. how much did you get 50k that is the real money then you need to add deductions house tax this tax, sewage, water it comes less and less and then you realize that in reality you make more but you spend so much more with less quality of life. who cares how much you make the question is how do you live with the amount that you make.?

I'm pretty sure more will come but many will leave so on once they understood that their living standards aren't improving. I see lot of people are struggling and moving to Netherlands, Belgium and soon. Even with two income it's hard to survive in any EU countries. The main reason behind all this misery is lack of housing, tax, tax and more taxes. Netherland is also not a good at housing and taxes. European are not work hard becasue it will only result in more taxes and causes more misery. In EU majority of people choose to spent time with family and friends than earning more money. It is cultural difference between EU and rest of the world.\n\nImmigrants come to EU thinking of earning more fortune like Dubai or USA, so that they can send remittance back to home has just become a day dream. In reality these countries take half of your fortune in taxes and in return they give good water, clean air and almost peaceful life.

I do have to say: I worked at a dental office and I NOTICED that every one that “moved away “ because they could no longer stand living here, ALWAYS came back every 6 months to get their free healthcare. So if she does move away, I am pretty sure she will come back for medical, dental etc. So I hope she has a good life, but if she is leaving then she should also give up her Canadian citizenship. She can’t have both ways.

This is what happens when there is zero accountability when you don't pay your rent. They aren't held financially responsible and they get off scot free, God forbid you owe the government money though. They will destroy your credit and throw you in jail. So many Canadians in the same situation — perhaps use your Canadian passport ? so many better places for you to be… find a nice job across the border in the US — it’s so easy to get a TN work Visa, or work tax free in the UAE, or build a nice career in Singapore. I had the same problem with Australia — it’s my home, and my heart will always fondly call it home forever. Australia is a big country with small job market, generally ignorant (but nice) people and limited economic diversity. One gets proper civic amenities only in either Melbourne or Sydney e.g., top notch medical care, a wide variety of groceries etc. Taxation is very high and although some people will tell you “we are well taken care of…” that is not true nowadays. The Australian Government’s policies over the last 40 years destroyed manufacturing, the economy, working conditions and inflated the property market. A reasonable 2-bedroom apartment in a Sydney suburb could cost you Au$2000-3000 in rent or Au$500,000+ to buy — and that goes higher as you get closer to downtown Sydney. The problem is that incomes are not high enough in Australia and housing quality is less than average overall for these ridiculous prices. Food, tolls and petrol cost a lot, although Sydney and Melbourne’s fresh food markets give you better prices than you’ll find in most other cities. My wife and I had a combined income of over Au$300,000/year while we lived there. We finally left Australia and moved to the US because even with our relatively high income we could only have an average house for around Au$1.8 million, we couldn’t fill up the tub and have a proper bath because of water restrictions, our kids would get an average schooling and their only dream in life would be to one day own a house. We didn’t want to live like that, so we wrapped up and left for good. The US is much better for skilled people — I don’t mean plumbers, tilers, roofers or landscapers, although life is good for them too. I’m sure someone will reply to this comment about the gun violence in the US. All I can say is that in the US we have the option to defend ourselves whereas in Australia we are expected to quietly die if someone kicks us in the head, stabs us or shoots us. Quality of life is good here in the US for me and my family. Fly free, mate!

I hate how they were convinced any immigration is okay. In the Middle East they will NEVER EVER give citizenship. Sure you can immigrate and work there but the natives are paid higher and have citizenship. Europe should have done this. But now the west has fallen because of liberals .

I´ve been contacted multiple times by German companies to work there and the difference with other countries is quite interesting. Places like Denmark or the Netherlands offer you help in anything you may need as well as using english to work while leaving the local language as optional, but in German positions it all seems to be about demanding from you without giving much in return. \n\nI don´t think that it as good strategy if your country has a labour shortage, specially of skilled labour because it is also demanded in many other countries that are simply better options.

I came to Berlin, Germany ?? from India with my family in 2021 on EU Blue card. I work here as a Software Engineer and last month I got my PR. Below are my observations \n1) Not expat friendly at all - Most of Govt departments doesn’t want to speak English at all making us feel we are useless. Esp at initial level it is next to impossible \n2) Taxes are too high I have lots of friends in Netherlands in HSM visa and they have 30 percent off in total salary meaning taxes are charged on remaining 70 percent.\n3) Difficult to buy home in Germany ?? whereas in Netherlands it is super easy and banks easily give 100 percent mortgage. Many friends of mine took their own house on the very first year and their emi is almost equivalent to the rent.\n4) Openess to English is still an issue if Germany ?? needs more skilled workers which I feel they desperately need it they would need to be more open towards English which is a common linked language.\n5) People are not at all friendly and avoid small talks.

Many of my friends who studied Masters here in Germany are struggling to find a job and yet they say we need skilled workers. Where are the jobs.\nFor language issue why can't you work with companies and give conditional offer to employees that in 2-3 years you have to be fluent in German and give them an opportunity to learn the language and integrate.\nBut did we see this no and yet they say we want workers..Yes you will get people obviously the world is big but not the quality one and in some time your situation will become like of France and UK.\n\nAnd though I have finished my Master and working in a company for very less salary still i regret my decision to come here leaving my well paid job in my home country was the worst mistake. \nBut now i have to find a way out from here

That's fucked up and it makes really freaking mad. I worked so many years and over times for what. I got chronicly ill didn't work for 3 years and got SSI and I don't even get $900 dollars. Migrants just walk over and get $1,400 WTF I'm a citizen who came here legally and paid my way ? I have nothing against migrants but darn you get all those benefits why then give them so much money. Here in China, housing is so expensive that many young people give up on dating and getting married. Unlike in Western countries, where immigration is often blamed for housing issues, the core problem here lies with those who already own property. These property owners deliberately inflate housing and rent prices to maintain their wealth, while the government is more than happy to see property and land prices to stay high so they can earn higher tax revenue for their own politician’s pay bonus, forcing younger generations to work under exploitative conditions to pay for the predatory rent, leaving barely enough money to afford basic essentials .

This is the reason why I don’t rent to Canadians. I have so many horror stories like these. Being an owner myself, I work 7 days a week with no rest days. And try to create something for ourselves. And mostly Canadian tenants try to abuse the system. It’s so difficult and don’t want to deal with this, so am scared to death to give to rent to anyone.

This came up in my feed, I'm in England ??????? and I've always rented as finances have never really been enough to get on the property ladder. I started off in a Private rental and thankfully I'm now in Social housing with an Assured Tenancy so it would be extremely difficult for the housing association to evict me and they have to prove to fault in court and they can't serve me a no fault notice. However rent has always been my number 1 priority bill, when I rented privately I had a Standing order set up with the bank and they drew the money out every month to pay the landlord. I set it so they drew it 3 days before the rent payment date and to account for weekends as banks don't pay out on weekends. In England ??????? rent is classed as paid when it leaves the tenants account not when a landlord receives it, so that's why I set up to leave 3 days early so it never debited late. Now I live in Social housing and it's been fantastic for me and my needs and I'm super lucky as there isn't much social housing about here anymore. I now pay rent by the method requested by the housing association which is direct debit and I pay it on the due date now as direct debits are credited to your rent account on the actual due date even if it's a weekend and then bank draws it out on the Monday. Rent is so important, I can call the housing association if anything is broken or not working and they send someone to fix it without any extra charge to me as it's all in with the rent. You have to pay your rent and if you can't afford it then look for something cheaper and give notice to your landlord.

Please, blame the govt. I don’t think citizens or immigrants are to blame. Finding stable work in Canada is a challenge these days even for permanent residents/new citizens. No guarantee of work even after acing an interview and building skills as needed. At this point I feel like immigrants are just tax paying scapegoats, who are used by the government and hated by local people. This is not real inclusiveness. Govt must give priority to their citizens and encourage immigration if there are real opportunities to offer. Everyone needs work and stability inorder to live a civilized and stable life. Calling loads and loads here to benefit the economy and politicians just be called third world trash isn’t fair.

I live in rural Atlantic Canada. There is lots and lots of land not being used. People driving long distances from their huge single family home to get to town or the city. If no Canadians are moving to the country side to start homesteads, then why not immigrants. I don't see the point of someone moving to a local small town to work in a Tim Hortons or not if there is no job available and buy franken foods from huge corporations. Instead if some immigrants want a homesteading life (some probably would), give people grants to make apartments in their huge single family farmhouses left from the days when people had ten kids, and subdivide their land so the new people can farm it. The local people can get rent money and payment for the subdivision and still have a large plot of land left over). Grow the local farmers markets! Grow the small towns to what they were 100 years ago! Make it so people only had to drive to the city when they wanted to, not for work. There is so so much empty land out here used for massive lawns.

Our nations are our homes. Our borders are the national equivalent of the walls and doors of our houses. We, our parents and grandparents have worked hard to make our nation/homes comfortable for our children and our children's children, who are, oddly enough, of the same race as ourselves. Why let doctors and dentists come to Canada when they are not allowed to work in Canada unless they spend 5+ years studying and giving licensing exams? Most doctors end up doing other things. Either fix the licensing system or change the immigration criteria.

The Canadian government is at major fault here. I don’t know if you canucks are aware of the advertisements your government airs in other countries? Well they promise to give any immigrant a quick route to citizenship and employment once they arrive in your country. Unfortunately once they get there nothing is true on those advertisements. There’s even professionals with degrees from north, central and south America working construction jobs because their degrees are not accepted due to academic prerequisites not being met whatever that means.

Canada is so broken now. I came here in 2010, it was amazing back then. Now, every single day I regret not moving out of Canada earlier and not changing my career on time. There is no living standard now and its about surviving now. Everything I am earning is just going towards bills and tickets. The cops are everywhere giving fines for smallest of mistakes to make sure refugees and asylum seekers get paid almost $2000 every month. Also, if you are making above $90K household wise, you are done, you cannot get so many benefits from the government. Basically, now working in Canada means paying for lifestyle of lazy people.

You forgot to mention that a large majority of MP’s are landlords or have investments in real estate rentals. The trend was visible since 2004. These rats are the ones creating the demand, they have stalled real estate development, they have brought in more immigrants to increase the demand. The worst part that even if this mess were to get somehow fixed, prices will not go down, because businesses know that Canadians will pay for more.
