I was born in Canada and I can tell you that the Immigration policies are just scams, they only show and tell you what a person can easy achieve if that person wants (which are mostly lies) and then when someone immigrates to Canada they soon find out that it was pretty much all lies. I know someone from India that apparently has a computer engineering degree from his country, but, when he arrived in Canada and tried to find work, the government told him that his degree is not relevent in finding work, HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE???

Basically, Canada decided to wear shoes way bigger than its size. Accommodating so many immigrants without any robust planning and management was a gamble that backfired the country. While i understand a country with a weak demography requires young population to contribute ti fuel its economic engine, lack of job creation and superficially overpriced real estate are the ticking time bombs waiting to go off and go beyond control soon. \nOne thing that continues to amaze me is the tolerance and acceptance of Canadians towards failed policies of its government. The protest against vaccination gained traction, but no real voice against a problem stressing every Canadian on daily basis? \nCabada must stop comparing itself to the US that has a very well planned immigration system seeking the most talented professionals in their respective fields. Canada, on the other hand, doesnt care about the quality.\nPeople have started coming to terms that there's no merit in embarking upon a life changing or rather threatening misadventure to leave everything behind for Canada. It just doesn't make any sense

Females are successful in Canada even with C- grades, get jobs faster than A+ males. Don't argue, i watched it for years, especially in engineering. They just get hired first. Look matters.

There is NO DREAM in Canada. The doctors, electrical engineers, and financial professionals have Big waste of time here. A very well experienced Doctor from say India has got way more practical experience and surgery. What all they need time is to get some system training. A Dentist, ophthalmologist, heart surgeons, orthopedic and so on with small training they can be easily absorb in the system after thorough check on skills.

Even within Canada, qualifications are not recognized in Quebec. My power engineering 3rd Class certification is only 4th Class in Quebec, so of course foreigners aren't treated any better. It's not a big issue in Western Canada because almost nobody wants to move to Quebec anyways.

Canada does have a decent education system, especially community colleges that prepare students for careers in Business, Engineering, Computer Programming, and so many more. If you stay or leave, be sure to graduate & get that piece of paper that says you can do a certain job. Thanks

You have tried to explain very well the initial struggle faced by new immigrants. This does take years and sometimes decades to settle down properly in a new country for first generation. First generation Indians try to save as much as they can while cutting corners. Things have relatively become much easier as there are plenty of jobs for those who have professional degrees and substantial experience. I personally found Canadian bachelor of engineering was far superior than masters of computer science in USA. I enjoyed spending four years in downtown Toronto while full time studying in late 80’s before moving back to USA. Someone else mentioned here in previous thread that all of their friends are much better off in India. I feel more or less the same way in spite of having three engineering degrees and 40 years experience. I am strong believer in Karmas, your destiny will take you where you’re supposed to be. I mean i am a mechanical engineer and i left canada after 10 years. No one can afford houses in Canada. I feel pity for my fellow Canadians.

Hey Alina, I'm a Senior Software Engineer (also working remote), used to live in a 1BR right in 8 York St, where your last shot is (cylindrical buildings) I was paying 1.600 cad in 2016.\n\nHad the most toxic relationship with my landlord wanting to kick me out, agreed to an illegal hike of 1.800 cad in 2018 to stay and have time to plan where to move. I know he rented it out for 2.200 cad in 2019, today it's probably close to 3.000 cad. That same 500sq ft 1BR.

When I had my kid in Canada, the only thing we paid for was parking. My cousin, who lives in Texas, paid 5K for each of her deliveries, even though they had great HC insurance. My son went through a whole 4 year, plus 1 year Co-op engineering degree for the price of one year's tuition in the US for the same program and he's gainfully employed. I also got 6 months maternity leave 26 years ago, and now people get 1 year.

it took them about damn time to fix the unfair immigrant credential system. My father came here in the mid 2000 with a engineering background from the middle east sadly never could transfer his credentials even though he was extremely qualified. Really sad story it felt like it was a trap.

Canadian immigration system is no longer the same. It is a new slavery system. No matter what education or licences you have, they will never recognize it. I m a new proud Canadian, have master's degree in education from America, still unable to get a teaching license. My doctor friend who came here as a PR is doing Uber. Other mechanical engineer friend doing construction. Don't come to Canada hopping to have a decent job to have a nice life.

As an engineer, I'm doing my best to leave Canada for the USA. Lack of jobs, affordable housing, high taxes, and I just never felt like I belong in this country. I honestly would rather take my chances in the south. I'm tired of struggling here.

Canada has done a piss poor job historically in creating conditions where immigrants are recognized for the education and experience they bring in their own chosen professions. Among the many barriers is the question that is explicitly or implicitly asked - ‘What is your Canadian experience?’ The recertification process for a number of professions is arduous and designed to keep immigrants from picking up their professional careers. This country wants immigrants to fill jobs that are low paying and increasingly hard to fill with Canadians born here. \n\nAsk any immigrant who is a doctor, banker, architect, civil engineer and who had a high position and status in their home country which level they have been asked to start at - if at all given the opportunity- at the very bottom. \n\nThe skilled immigrant story is very different in the United States of America. Easy to certify and relicense, respect for experience already accumulated by the immigrant in home country.

Canada select immigrants with university degrees, engineers, etc... to have them work at Tim Hortons. When you arrive in Canada with years of valuable experience, Canadian employers swiftly throw all that value in the garbage bin. and they are surprised there is a shortage of workforce. That's the result for looking at the rest of the world with arrogance.

It's not just immigrants. Refugees have left Canada and returned to warzones stating they have better odds of surviving there than in Canada. Doctors, Nurses, engineers and businesses are leaving Canada as well due to high costs of living. It doesn't help that Canada today hates competition and has so much bureaucracy keeping the status quo even if it means the entire system will collapse.

I have a Ph.d in Chemical Enginerring from a middle ranking Canadian university. Never received a job offer. But , with the same credentials, my job searches in both USA and Middle East were very positive. All my life as a Canadian, I was FORCED to work in USA and elsewhere in the globe. Canada is a CLOSED SOCIETY. It welcomes immigrants but when it comes to abetting in putting the migrants into APOROPRIPRIATE WORK , it keeps QUIET.

Can’t blame them at all. I’m a son of immigrant parents born and raised in Canada and I am deciding to move to the US myself due to soaring house prices and taxes. My dad was an engineer back home and when he came here, they said his university diploma was not accepted here. He was forced to work a 9-5 job career instead.

Even newly graduate engineers there's no job unless you have experience well hiw can you get that when they don't even give you a chance to prove you can do the job they look at hiw long your experience was for a newly graduate it's very difficult goverment shiuld hepl graduates in this country speciall thise who just graduated. That's why some of them mihht go oversees lime europe to find a better job.

The sad part of this is that it's the immigrants that we want that are dragging up and leaving, the ones with degrees in medical and engineering. The ones with skilled trades and abilities. \n But sadly all we will get to stay are the dregs of society that came here looking for a free ride and hands out! Yeah well in Canada the problem is for us fools who decided to do a STEM degree, we not only have to compete with our classmates in the job market, but also with all the immigrants who also have STEM degrees plus decades of experience. When you point out the wage gap, this is why and it is true in most STEM fields. \nI have met many engineers who gave up looking for work and took up a trade which all too often actually pay more than what they would otherwise using their majors.

There is A LOT of silent racism afainst Southern Europeans. Your facts about the BIPOC community experiencing racism is a falicy. The BIPOC community gets far TOO much support in Canada, from free hand outs- although they are well off as these wealthy BIPOC immigrants and citizens know how to play the system, to the best jobs and admission spots in medical school, law school, engineering, etc. There are very few Italian and S.European doctors and lawyers-most especially females in Canada, in addition to the fact that less than a staggering 1% of immigrants to Canada are Italian or S.European. Indian government is not honest and never be honest in future, because the leaders are uneducated and selected from the gangs not from the universities. There are most difficult entrance tests for admission in IIT and AIIMS for developing a good engineer or doctor but there is no such test for selection of leaders of the countries. India is not growing but it is going down year by year because most of the citizens has been lost their culture. Today you are seeing one Khalistan demand in future you may see such voices from other states also because there is always injustice from the government side. The biggest problem of Punjab is drugs not electricity or good roads , there is no single institution in the country who is educating the teenagers about drugs with a dedicated one hour class in a school. This country is sowing terrorism for future due to bastard leaders and sold media .

Came to Canada in 2008 (to Quebec). Got my family doctor (a team of doctors in the polyclinic) last year. Same for our kids, born here. Canada also doesn't acknowledge medical degrees or experience from other countries. They protect the salaries of the doctors by artificially limiting the number of doctors that can practice. Therefore doctors leave Canada... Electrical engineers also should avoid QC if they don't speak fluent French... Quebec is discriminating against the English speaking community and gets away with it. Anglophones in Quebec are also subject to higher unemployment...

I've been here from August 26th. I live in Saskatoon. Found a job in 8 days, I didn't have a career back home, except for being a mechanic, saftey guy and 2 more diplomas. I started from ground up working at grocery shop, paid the bills, smoked that good weed, can video call my family everyday, hanging out with the boys and chilling. \n\nBut I understand how most people who had a career back in their home is having trouble getting the exact one here. My roommate did software engineering stuff back home and he works with me. \n\nAlso Canadians have been really great with me. I had made some friends.\nAlso I'm 27, so I have time and I understand where he's coming from

A lifetime of visiting American cousins (upstate NY!, Michigan, Cali, Texas) that wrap themselves in the flag and declare the US 100% better for everything made me expect a very different video.\nCanada is no longer all that great, but ... top 10% of income / wealth you're better off in the US (but for MOST people the extra wealth doesn't buy happiness).\nNext 25% is about the same, your quality of life is the pretty much the same in either place so long as you don't have a health crisis.\nBottom 65% - move to Canada if you can, or better yet ANYWHERE in the EU. If you have a CompSci or Engineering degree, the EU is a better choice except for a certain amount of culture shock and the mandatory language rules. Of course, if you have the opportunity and funds to move ... you don't need to.\nIf you are of Nordic descent the appropriate Scandinavian country is definitely a better choice, but my understanding is that they are not very tolerant of others.
