In case anyone is wondering why so many Indians are trying to flee Canada here it is. Under Trudeau and the liberal government Canada was basically giving a free pass to anyone who wants to come to Canada through colleges and universities, if you get into a Canadian school, you can get a study permit (which also allows you to work for 20h a week). Additionally after the schooling you are given a guaranteed work permit for the same duration as the schooling (if you went to school 2 years you get a 2 year permit, 4 years you get a 4 year permit, ect.) A Canada and immigration agencies (for some reason) basically advertised this to India as a guaranteed way to get permanent residence in Canada. Canadians hated the massive flood of people coming into Canada (about a million a year at its peak, which for a smaller country like canada is equivalent to 10 million people coming into the USA every year). This is really unpopular with voters of course (in part because of the housing, food, and low skill work shortages it created), and the next Canadian election is this year. So the conservative government has vowed to massivly decrease the number of immigrants coming into Canada and the Liberal government knowing that this can be used against them in the next election is decreasing the amount of PR cards they are given (like a Canadian green card) as well as the people they are letting in in total. Now as the (mostly Indian) immigrants work permits expire and they will soon be kicked out of the country or no longer legally be allowed to work, they are fleeing to NYC to try to take advantage of the sanctuary city (something that does not exist in Canada).

Adios! Maybe I can get a job now and some decent housing since I have been paying taxes for years and years.. Or maybe the govt can pay FOR my hotel fees, my food and everything else we give out.. Sorry, but it's time for survival now, it's me or you....and it has to be me in my world. Canada stand strong. What’s been fueling the homeless crisis is the people at the top. Pathetic New York will let Americans, especially veterans, sleep on the street homeless. Yet put up illegals in a luxury hotel and get a free food card. So they can eat anywhere they want. It's my neighbors job to make sure my house is secure. I'm doing everything I can to stop all these people coming into my house. I leave my doors unlocked and I put out a big sign that says free food, free room, free money, free everything inside. They still keep coming in! My neighbors are a big problem and I don't know why they aren't taking my home security more seriously!

I am born and raised in NYC. In Queens many businesses are now suffering with lack of staff and the owners or their family members are now doing the work they’ve been paying immigrants that don’t have their paperwork together to do. It is sad so many people trying to start over and get treated poorly! As a community member it is also annoying having to wait much longer for food or the quality of atmosphere lacking now etc I know something needed to be done in regards to the immigration issue but at the same time it sucks to realize just how many people were being taken advantage of in ALL the local businesses smh. It is definitely a catch 22!

ICE will find them and without a paying job they will no longer get federal funding, and NY is going broke cause they are cutting the purse strings to a lot of the programs like housing, food, and/or medical help.

I once had rats in my garage, turns out they were after the dog food I left in the garage. I removed the dog food and no more rats. Not trying to call these people rats, but if you remove all benefits they can get here including jobs, there is no reason for them to come.
