I can see westerners being freaked out by the women who cover their face. I myself was like wtf when I seen a women with covered face for the first time back in northern Virginia, and I am from Ethiopia - a country that has a big Muslim population, more than 30%. We live among Muslims peacefully, because we respect our differences, but the ones back home do not really cover their face so I was not used to it. Really we should do better than creating differences, there is no better race or religion, all humans are the same, we all practice the 7 deadly sins religiously. and all the people commenting saying they hate Muslim and what it stand for, what religion are you because the Bible teaches compassion, it does not say to hate what you don't understand.

As a multi generational Canadian, I don't really care whether they cover their face or not. That's their choice. During my life I've seen all these different forms of conservative dress from catholic nuns, to Hutterites to Mennonites and these people are just part of the mix. What this is designed to do is to create a barrier between themselves and the larger society which is fine. I would never interact with one of these woman ever because the thin flimsy barrier makes it clear that she is not interested in talking to anyone for any reason and again this is fine. If she was with a man I would talk only with the man and completely ignore her and if she was with a male child I would talk to the male child, not to her. I don't normally chat with women who are strangers other than now and then in a supermarket line or whatever. This face thingy frees me from the need of chitchat small talk and I'm good with that. In any case we would have absolutely nothing in common.

The only thing I know is that In Canada there have been many fundamental aspects that are maintained by Canadians. Not all Muslims are Jihadis but all Jihadis are Muslims, so if every Mosque preached against violence it could make a significant difference. Jihadis would be ostracised by their own religious community and therefore have less support. Tolerance is not a one way street. I hearn an imam mention the other day a decade and a half ago hed walk down the street with his wife in a niqab and not a stare. I left Islam because of a number of reasons for Christianity, too much contention amongst many Muslims, lack of unity between different ethnicities in Islam, their beliefs about Slavery, and Sharia law and Islam doesn't work with Western customs just to name a few. Surely men can do heavier work. Of course there are differences between men and women, nobody is denying that. Men can learn how to knit but I can never knit as good as a woman can do it. It's just that I don't see why a woman should have to obey me. I think that grown and civilized people can discuss and work things out together. I also don't see why women have to made responsible for the behaviour of men who act primitively because of the way they dress.
