As FRENCH, I think it is more an issue with policies set by both governments!!! You know you bring students IN and why don’t you build houses and encourage construction???? In France, many students (mainly Africa, and French departments like Guadeloupe, Tahiti or Martinique) come to study there (for free and we are proud of it!!!) BUT - unlike Canada - we do NOT have the same issues as Canada (our healthcare is NOT under pressure and our housing prices haven’t really increased that much as compared to Canada for example!!!) to me, the students are NOT to blame!!! It is the fault of the deciders (at different level) who have FAILED to set the right policies!!!! The schools are also to blame as some (not all) are so obsessed with making profits out of the higher international fees, which by way, subsidize Canadian students!!! So in Canada (not in France or Germany), the money that allows schools to function come from international students who BRING LOTS OF MONEY for the Canadian economy!!!! in France, it is different as the universities are FREE and are fully subsidized by the French government… but yes;) you have to speak French fluently to attend them!!! \nSo dear Canadians, do not blame foreign students thanks to whom your universities thrive and remain existant!!! Without them (namely the Indians too), the Canadian universities will struggle to find money and funding! Remember, the system in France is TOTALLY different!!!!

This cowboy hat ? man should know that international students spennd 18000 Canadian dollars just on diploma to study in those diploma mills colleges. Man a lot of money just for study a year course where you will study nothing some of their parents spend whole life savings sell out their land properties thats straight 30 Indian lakhs one can buy a nice SUV a house here with that much of money. The immigration file has been completely botched and mishandled by an inept and very stupid government. Mass immigration without a plan for increased housing, medical staff, infrastructure help, or even increased staff at immigration centres, etc. is madness, and chaos has ensued. I studied in India for several years, and was careful to respect Indian culture vis a vis dress codes, learning Hindi, and behaviour. It is only normal courtesy to do so. It becomes more difficult when numbers increase drastically over a v. short period of time since people coming here are not widely exposed to Canadian culture. This completely inept and corrupt government needs to go: like yesterday. I think of myself as anti-racist, but when I go for a medical test and see that 95% of patients appear to be of middle-eastern origin, while I haven't been able to find a family doctor for 10 years, I do get a little irritated. And I'm a boomer; younger people in Canada are competing for education, jobs, housing, as well as medical care, so I can understand people becoming angry. I think that currently this backlash is against the government, not immigrants, and not one community in particular. I am cynical enough to think that this government went for mass immigration because they have no economic plan for prosperity, and bringing in several millions would raise GDP. But percapita GNP has been falling for 8 quarters, so we are definitely in a recession. I think Trudeau did this so his economic incompetence would not be obvious. Anyway, that's my appeal: we should be upset at a government that caused this chaos, not at individual immigrants nor a specific community.

Honestly this is a worldwide problem affecting not only first world countries but also growing economies, Im Mexican and a big wave of first world immigrants to my country have raised the prices in housing, food, etc, a lot of us has been forced to move to find more affordable prices, since previous rents doubled or in some cases got triplicated.\n\nAnd I know they are moving because the situation in their own countries have gone so hard that everyone is looking for a better chance, the world governments needs to do something because life is getting hard for EVERYONE.

Well Indians go to Canada to work. They dont start fights or cause problems. If they are all living in one area what’s the problem? They are here in the UAE as well and live more or less in a community. Does not mean they don’t integrate. I have cousins in Ontario who have married non Indians. It’s the governments fault for bringing in so many people and not providing adequate housing. Canada has always been a country that welcomes immigrants. Throughout our history we have averaged around 250k immigrants per year and this was sustainable. The issue now is that the Liberal government has broken the system by allowing almost 1 million a year especially when you factor in international students. Our systems and housing are overwhelmed and the government doesn’t seem concerned about Canadians and communities that have been changed within a very short amount of time. The problem is simple. If its an issue of cost of living, while its true that it is very high, its very high across the industrialized world. That is because the causes influencing cost of living are not related to inside Canada but are being influenced by foreign actors which Canada has no control over. The Ukraine-Russia War for example is causing increases to food costs which are not easily overcome. The situation in the Middle East between Hamas and Israel threatens to spiral into a regional war and that threatens the oil supply and the present price for oil and gas. The Houthi have been making it hard to traverse the Red Sea which is forcing shipping to travel around Africa rather than directly through the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean Sea meaning those additional fuel costs get transferred over to the consumer. As for housing, while efforts to cool housing markets have been made, Canada's housing market is still relatively hot meaning the prices remain high in big cities. Its like a perfect storm. Increased costs on mortgages are an attempt to push down inflation but in the short term you are going to feel that as well. Also we are living in a transition period as the world sinks back to the older model of trade before before Bretton Woods in 1947 which is leading to a decoupling of product lines that at one time coming from Asia were cheap but are not more expensive because they are being made back in the home countries. Transitions do come with a price. Finally, add taxes which help to deal with health care, social programs and government services like embassies, foreign missions and the army well yeah its a perfect storm.\n\nI hope you have luck where you end up but do not for a minute assume that the grass is greener on the other side. Even Japan which attempts to keep certain costs low, has been forced to increase its national consumption taxes to offset overall costs. It isn't going to get cheaper but more expensive as we move back to the old trade model. However, as the world weans itself off of the World Trade Organization and the IMF, the world also re-opens the potential to a Great Depression because that was the reason Bretton Woods appeared in the first place. The world isn't going to get better but far worse.

We definitely needed help in filling in the deficit of employees that are needed in Canada! It is a shame that ALL political parties did not solve the housing issue which we knew was going to be a problem, many decades ago, even well before the Harper government! This is not rocket surgery! LOL\nIn Northern Ontario we have a LOT of Indian immigrants. All the ones I have met are very well educated even though they are working in the service industries! I know several Indian Canadians who are Doctors, Teachers and Engineers! Almost all of my experiences have been positive! Of course it is human nature to always highlight issues, for example: I caught one group of people throwing garbage in a parking lot, and immediately notified them that they had dropped something, and even followed them with the garbage. One of the group stated, it was just trash. I told him there was a garbage can right over there, and I just KNEW that they did not want to throw it just lose on the ground, and wanted to help keep our town clean. They said sorry and politely picked it up and placed it in the garbage can. Hopefully lesson learned! I politely and respectfully spoke out, to a good resolution.\nMy parents were immigrants from war-torn Germany. I know ALL about prejudice for new immigrants. Our parents being German-Canadian at a time right after WW2, where MOST Canadians had an Uncle, a Father, a Grandfather or someone they knew who had fought and some died because of Germans! Dude you are just babbling! How is it unfair when most of these students are coming in on a false premise of studying for PR. The effects that this has caused on education, hospitals, jobs, housing is unmeasurable. Honestly, the government policy has caused this chaos.

Indians aren’t the only problem. A Ukrainian family of 2 adults 2 children was receiving $9000 from the Canadian government in assistance . Meanwhile, If a Canadian owes $10 in taxes, the government is coming after you and will charge you interest. The entire immigration/ student , work visa , refugee program needs to be reviewed. Changes need to be made with quotas drastically reduced.. Laws need updating. I’m not saying we don’t help people escaping drastic situations, but we can’t be a free for all society. Don’t forget that Canadians don’t want to have children anymore. So without immigration, canadas population will eventually fall to zero. Canada is a relatively empty country. If our governments were smart we could have the largest housing construction and business development program in the history of the world. There is no shortage of land in Canada, but we aren’t building houses because of incompetent politicians . Immigration creates jobs by increasing aggregate demand, but the country cannot absorb this many in such a short time.

We need to get rid of property management companies and have the provincial governments take over all housing. These slum property management companies are getting away with way too much. Jacking up rents, not maintaining the buildings, having people living in bedbug, cockroach and mouse infested apartments. It's awful out there.

This is very sad. Perhaps the citizens of India should protest against their governments lack of sufficient support for higher education in their country. Perhaps the citizens of India should start local schools instead of spending their money to send their children thousands of miles away, spending their money to house their children in very expensive countries. Certainly there must be an Indian citizen who is educated and is willing to teach what he/she has learned to other Indians!

Temp foreign workers rights have been always there. The new thing is : job losses, housing crisis specially rent, health services crises, whereas the fed government can make easily and rapidly changes on one million new temporary residence every year

I don't hate Indians. I am an avid supporter of immigration. My problem is the government allowed too many people to come too fast. It puts many newcomers in an unfortunate situation, but unfortunately many will have to leave until we can fix this housing problem. Maybe try again in another 10 years.

Myself working and living in Germany since last 3 years as a blue card holder IT professional. To this date, I have made 0 contacts in germany, making friends here is a far fetched dream. People just don't even look at a stranger person of colour. To them, we are auslanders who are not fit to integrate in their so called german culture. The housing crunch and slow lathargic medical system makes Germany even less attractive. The government needs to understand that not everyone from different parts of the world can learn German. The IT professionals don't get enough time to even look after their health during day to day office activities, on top of it, they are asked to learn german post office hours. Its too much for me.
