if a country with a net deficit puts 25% tariffs on the net credit trader, and the net credit puts on 25%, the net deficit profits substantially overall, they collect more tariffs, consumers just buy local, so more national business growth etc. i.e. canada is screwed, the us does well out of this. if the us put on 100% tariffs on canada, that country would go bankrupt, and the us would be fine.

It's great that the fentanyl problem is being attacked at the border. What about Canada inside the borders? Why did it take Trump to impose tariffs for Canada to respond to the drug problem? And what about dealing with China? Most of the chemical compounds have been brought in from there...thousands of kids have died and Canada has not addressed China's conspiracy with this. I've always respected Canada as a intelligent, polite but tough as nails country. I have not and will not forget how you helped liberate my grandparents by spearheading into their German-occupied country and for providing refuge for their royal family. I can only hope that the special relations between Canada and the EU will become warmer instead of colder like the direction that has been chosen by the US.

I love Canada. Canada will always be our ally, but there appears to be some “one sided-ness”. I believe the biggest issue being drugs coming across our border. \nAs someone who lives on the border, we see many Canadian cars coming to the US to shop. They even wear clothes that they throw away in dumpsters so they can wear their new clothes back to Canada without having to pay tax. \nI wish they wld accommodate to our requests.\n\nP.S. Canada (and many other countries) spent decades supporting the maintenance of US hegemony. Look what it got us? To a position where we're pretty much greatly dependent on, and at the mercy of the US. We need to invest more in our own country and make our own products. We should also trade with other countries regardless of what the US thinks of those countries. Trump wants Canada to put tariffs on China in the attempt to further impede that country's economic growth so the US will remain the economic hegemony. Never mind that a trade war with China would put Canada in an even worse position. Given the current events, I say we trade with China even more!
