Good speech. Now let’s also look at what has gone on last 9 years in Canada. Mr. Trudeau It was dumb to divide the provinces. It was dumb for you to shut down every project that Alberta had to work with other provinces and trade with other parts of the world. It was dumb for you to continually suck up to Quebec while ignoring the rest of the country. The corruption we know of that your party created such as We Charity and Arrivecan app is just the tip of the iceberg of billions of dollars you have robbed from Canadian taxpayers that could have fixed health care and provided much needed tax relief to all Canadians. While you are speaking about dumb I pray that Canadians realize and understand what the Liberal and NDP parties have done to our country the last 9 years and vote your party out. Canadians need to stop being dumb with who we have in power. We cannot keep going like this.

Well done, PM Trudeau. You made us proud as Canadians. You said it like it is. Donald, and I noticed you refrained from calling him President Trump because he is certainly not acting like a president, Donald is siding with our enemies, snuggling up to a malicious dictator rather than taking a stand for right and for the common good. He has absolutely no reason to impose tariffs and is actually breaking legal agreements to do so, but we all know that Trump believes he is above the law. If you like this speech, go and listen to Premier Ford of Ontario as he threatens to tariff all the energy which flows into the States or even just cut it off. Nobody wins in this war, certainly not Americans. But Elon and Donald don't care. They are filthy rich and will just plan chaos and world domination in their sandbox while everyone else in the USA takes the hit.

Like Russia, Canada has key strategic resources and huge oil and gas reserves. The west could not cause the collapse of the Russian economy after it invaded Ukraine because of that key fact. Canada will eventually find other markets for its natural resources. This is a sad fact as integrating our economy with the U.S. has been a great benefit to both countries. You buy our natural resources, we buy your manufactured goods. Too bad, this administration does not see this simply reality. Don't get me wrong, Canada will suffer MORE than the U.S. as our economy is much smaller, but it will survive and once it decouples its economy from that of the U.S., it will be fine. The U.S. on the other hand is breaking treaties with longtime allies and isolating itself on the world stage. It is squandering its place as world leader and world superpower. China is licking its chops.

I'm not American. I grew up hearing lots of hate bout USA cuz the US doesn't exactly have a good rep in foreign policies - always bullying other nations, starting wars for oil etc. but I've always preferred USA not just for the world order it brings, it allows different voices, criticism & scolding towards its leaders compared to China, Russia & North Korea. \n\nin the US, you can talk bad bout politicians in power, or probably make movies bout these kind of things like US invading other countries for oil, or testing out some cruel AI military robots on humans (movie name: Monsters of Man), & you won't be persecuted. but after looking at a bunch of executive orders Trump has signed, the way he (& JD Vance) treated Zelenski & Canada, I don't know if I still feel the same bout USA anymore.\n\nif USA doesn't wanna continue spending on Ukraine, perhaps USA shouldn't have sweet talked Ukraine into denuclearization thru the 1994 Budapest Memorandum. that's what you get for mendling with other countries' affairs. by stopping US aid & wanting a new mineral deal, Trump's refusing to follow the Memorandum (I added this sentence thru edit as I can't reply to the comment below).\n\nunderstandably, US & UK don't need to deploy troops in Ukraine as the security assurance in the memorandum wasn't clearly defined, but it also didn't mention that Ukraine should pay the US back financially, nor any mineral concessions. \n\nTrump always wanting a purely 1 sided deal will only isolate USA from more allies.

I’ve commented another feeds, but good for you, Trudeau! As an American, I can’t express to you how disgusted I am with what’s happening. I voted against our current administration and I’m out in the streets to try to stop what’s happening. This is disgusting, good for you for fighting back! We’re going to feel a tear in the state, but our leaders need to understand that there are going to be consequenceswhen it comes to treating people like less than human.

The basics of life... All the immigrants are gone, They even left by their own will, and Some Americans left to other countries, Mexico, Europe, Asia..... What do you guys want?? Having an empty country once was the biggest economy of the world?? Is just crazy even a blind person can see he is destroying the whole country..... He is not even a good business person we all know he didn't payed taxes, he went bankrupt so many times he knows how to scam people, Saying the USA government doesn't work because he feels like it, Just travel people so you can see the difference between usa government and other governments around the world........

Nothing Trump does makes sense. He’s an utter embarrassment. He’s making our country look like a backwards, oppressive, “pile of garbage”. If any MAGA bothered to research is life back to the 70’s and 80’s they’d find Trump was NEVER good at business. He was good at running them into the ground. He hasn’t a republican cell in his body. He doesn’t care which party or what ideology anyone is, so long as they’re naive and ignorant enough to buy his lies and bullshit. It’s just all about Trump. Everything he’s doing is contrary to making America great. Ironic that there are many so-called Christians who support him, when he fits the biblical description of the Antichrist a bit too well. It’ll take decades to restore America’s standing in the world, because that narcissistic, bloated, power-hungry, piece of shit wants to keep attention centered on him. He’s doing all he can to keep us stupid, and brainwashed, because anyone who’s intelligent, and has any level of critical thinking poses a threat. When will the orange Kool aid wear off?…and btw, I’m not a liberal. I’m not a democrat. I’m rational.

Full disclosure:\nCanada/Trudeau has long enjoyed tariffs on American goods. Trudeau just doesn't like it when US does the same to them. \nDrop all of yours first, Trudeau. Then we'll drop ours.\nTake note, Trudeau. American workers are not your slaves.

When countries put tariffs on the US the citizens pay more for goods. Now Canada will tariff their own imported goods like beef, vegetables, cars, cosmetics etc and who’s gonna pay the price, Canadian tax payer. See the difference?

I hold no grudge Canada. Do what you must - from a US citizen in New Jersey.\nJust an FYI: my husband and I have vacationed in Canada many times. Just last year we did a 7 day cruise in Canada. Your country is beautiful and so are your citizens . In all these years and trips we have never met a single questionable Canadian. Your friendly, kind, fun, interesting and just “ good people” you’d like to share a drink with

What I don't like is the millionaires that move our jobs out of our country to benefit themselves. My father lost a good manufacturing job because labor was cheaper in some other county. Now look at Boeing. Somehow we need someone that is looking out for US! Trying to bring jobs and industry back to the USA. Trudeau is a terrible leader and I'm happy to see him squirm.

Trudeau trying to act tough is like tinker bell trying raising a fist at you...both are laughable. Notice how he doesn't discuss the Canadian tariffs on American goods prior to Trump? Drop your tariffs and we'll drop ours - deal?

Most Americans despise what Europe has turned into….a woke, globalist cesspool controlled by people like Soros and institutions like the WHO, WEF, ICC, and NATO. Their ultimate goal is for people to have zero national identity and to not be able to live without a welfare state. \n\nSome Canadian was crying online about tariffs saying good luck on your own against China. Buddy, you and Europe are socialist systems that can’t survive if not subsidized by the American taxpayers. Yeah it might sting us initially, but your whole system is going to be exposed and now you’re throwing a tantrum. It’s pathetic! Have fun owning the reconstruction of Ukraine and providing security guarantees. You guys can kick and scream all you want, Americans murdered Neo-Conservatism this election and it’s never coming back.

This is total Anti US propoganda ! This man is about as sinister as they come, and in bed with billionaire led WEF ! He clearly displayed that in his lock step response to covid and how he treated his citizens ( like caged animals)! This leader is a socialist and has nothing to offer Americans but to leech our tax dollars & use our military defenses for protection without contributing their fare share to support it! We have been the sugar daddy to so many nations with only the consequence of our tax dollars not improving our nation, but every other that we are used by! I’m not a maga but, but this president is using leverage the US still has ( although we’ve suffered greatly under the Biden Admin ). President Trump is trying to balance our budget by smart and fair trade, that puts this country’s legal citizens first! Fair trade hasn’t existed for many years, and while there may be increases felt by these tarrifs, our hope is that long term we manufacture more excellent goods here & use more of our own natural resources! Those commenting about what we are doing to Ukraine need to get their heads out if the sand…the Ukrainian people don’t want Zelinski but cannot get rid of him! He has taken hundreds of billions of dollars from the US and has no plan for peace in his nation…Pres Trump says enough is enough, and he is trying to not only end the war, but recoup massive amounts of money we wrongly gave through a deal for natural resources. Sounds like a plan that’s good for everyone involved, and that’s how you make deals! We cannot give whst we do not have & with our debt , we cannot afford to keep printing money, devaluing the dollar, and giving it away at the expense of hard working N Americans!
|

UK here. Great speech. Said it like it is. I truly hope that when, not if, our turn comes, we respond in a similar fashion. Beware Americans, if Trump carries on like this you may find your closest trading partner is Russia, when the rest of the world takes American goods off the shelf.

Just one questin. Trudeau just said him an the president worked together an beliving he refurred to the USMCA. He said it made money an jobs an economy better. So he signed an agreement he didnt bring up an coulda kept rolling along like usual, but after signing it he said its been a good thing doesn't that mean he was way ahead an the new deal still left him ahead in the positive but just not as much? If so I'd like to hear him go line by line in defence of the accusations because something isnt adding up

good luck, little man. also, to the statist warhawk apologists carrying water for opportunist politicians (like trudeau): tighten up. you're fighting your neighbors on behalf of the people who only long to rule over you. your subservience to the state isn't going to be a valid defense when this all collapses.

Trudeau shouldnt talk, he is hated by his own ppl and TRUE AMERICANS STAND WITH THE USA if you dont, you are a traitor plain and simple.. not cater to simpletons like Trudeau who has done more to censor his ppl that protests always follow him. WE the MAJORITY who VOTED for Trump, OUR POTUS is doing what we the PEOPLE want. in the end we dont need Canada, they needs us. thats just a fact. when we sell our good in Canada, they tax us up the wazoooo, and we cant do the same? fk them ... thats not fair. USA is not the world POLICE and this highway robbery from other nations has to come to a stop as we have been giving consistantly for years and been getting the shaft from numbnuts like this fool. now we have a PRESIDENT with BALLZ....... and YES i served this country... 19k tank armored crewman and i served proudly...

Let me explain the trading relationship briefly that occurs between Canada and the US for context.
\n
\nCanada Has a LOT of natural resources, more than our domestic manufacturing base needs (Uranium fuel, Lumber/paper products, Steel and other metals, Fertilizer for farms...etc). Therefore we sell those raw materials to the states where they are manufactured into goods, which we then buy back. a LOT of American service companies like tech, media (And yes, even banks)...etc also operates in Canada as well. (For the auto sector the parts flip back and forth across the border like 8 times)
\n
\nThis relationship alone has the American economy see a large trade surplus with Canada, however there is another element to it: Energy.
\n
\nCanada is also home to a LARGE amount of really cheap renewable hydro power in the east, and a LOT of oil in the west, due to a lack of infrastructure we really can only sell that oil to the states and therefore it is done at a discount. America refines this cheap oil into gas and is a large part of the reason why American gas is so cheap. They use this energy to power the same factories mentioned above. (Oh and also the NE states import a lot of that clean hydro electricity for the same reasons)
\n
\nThe US Buys SO MUCH of that cheap energy from us to power your industrial base, that it swings the numbers on the trade balance into a small deficit for the USA. (41 billion out of a TRILLION dollars total trade, or about -4.1% of total trade so literally a pretty small deficit) It also swing back and forth every year so
\n
\nThen comes Trump. He wants Canada as a 51st state and own the entire continent, therefore he manufactures an excurse that our border is leaky and that migrants and fentanyl are flowing over. (In actual case migrants and the flow of Fent is about 1% the amount that's crossing at the Mexico border but he needs an excuse)
\n
\nHe therefore puts 25% tariffs on us. Those tariffs will hit Canada harder than the 2008 financial crisis just for scale.
\n
\nOh and also for the most part American Refineries literally cant process any other oil than ours or Venezuela's because its thicker so tariffs on our oil will also really increase the priced of energy in the states by a huge amount just for the LOLs. As we've seen during the post covid recovery, since gas is priced in to the supply chain at every step (Manufacturing, transportation...etc), any increase at the pump will snowball into higher costs for everything at the store, on top of the extra cost of the tariffs on consumers. (Since every step will need to add it into their markup.)

He makes it seems we were good till Trump came into office again. I got news for you,we were great before biden came along and all he had to do was keep the momentum going. Instead he killed pipelines, pushed leftist agenda and created the inflation we have now. No more will America be a door mat to allow people like you Trudeau to wipe your feet on and take advantage of the US like so many others! Don't worry, we will survive, we always do!

Good on Canada for standing up for their people. The news anchor seems offended that Canada is talking “harshly “ to poor o frump… o please! Enough with the treatment of kid gloves Americans will be deeply hurt by this buffoon starting a trade war with our allies… the frumpy supporters this is what you voted for so don’t want to hear crying…. You didn’t want to listen to the warnings given so now deal with it just like everyone else that knew better ….

I am shocked and dismayed at the calm in this female reporters voice, as if, just another day at the WH. PLEASE TELL IT LIKE IT IS. We have a criminal psychopath in the WH who is ruining our GOOD relationships....BECAUSE HE CAN. He's NUTZ. IMPEACH HIS SORRY ASS NOW! How many crimes does he have to commit before someone does something. Why are sitting and watching the destruction of our country? Find a good protest...I'm sure they need us all. I know I do. I need the family of man to stand up to this crazy monster in the WH....throw his ass out. Pick him up and removing him. If we only had the 'cojones'.

Trump did a good thing. All you woke, soft hearted liberals don't get the fact that the USA has been allowing these other countries to eat off of us for free. Well, that' stops today. The President/PM of Ukraine will also learn a valuable lesson today as well. Never bite the hand that feeds you. All of our tax dollars have been donated around the world to other people's causes while we are made to suffer. We have a financial crisis right here in America that needs to be addressed. This is the start, and in the long term, we will prevail. Canada is like a little sister to the US. Trudeau is talking about fighting and they can't survive a war without our help. Neither can many of the other NATO countries. So, middle finger to him and any other country that opposes us. It's time stop being taken advantage of and for the USA to start acting like we are the most powerful nation in the world. Many of you don't like Trump's decisions simply because you don't like the person. Get out of your feelings and look at then big picture.

O bs. Does anyone actually believe Trudeau anymore? Canada already have tariffs on US goods. Clearly they have not done enough yet on dropping these, plus fentanyl and immigration, so Trump is driving the point home.\nImposing counter-tariffs is like a monty python joke.

Dont forget Canada applies tariffs on a variety of goods imported from the United States, but the specific goods subject to tariffs can vary depending on the trade agreements in place, as well as individual circumstances and trade disputes. Some of the key categories of goods that have historically been subject to tariffs or trade restrictions between the two countries include:\n\t1.\tAgricultural Products:\n\t•\tDairy products: Canada has a system of supply management in place for dairy, poultry, and eggs. As a result, certain U.S. agricultural products, particularly dairy, face higher tariffs when imported into Canada.\n\t•\tPoultry and eggs: Similar to dairy, tariffs are applied to U.S. poultry and eggs under Canada’s supply management system.\n\t•\tBeef and pork: Canada has historically imposed tariffs on U.S. beef and pork, although these are often adjusted or reduced under trade agreements like the USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement).\n\t2.\tSteel and Aluminum:\n\t•\tCanada imposed tariffs on certain U.S. steel and aluminum products after the United States imposed tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum in 2018 under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962. However, in 2019, both countries reached an agreement to remove some tariffs, although certain products may still be subject to tariffs or quotas.\n\t3.\tLumber:\n\t•\tSoftwood lumber is another contentious issue in U.S.-Canada trade. Canada has faced tariffs on its softwood lumber exports to the U.S. for many years, and there have been instances where Canada has applied retaliatory tariffs in response to U.S. actions.\n\t4.\tConsumer Goods and Electronics:\n\t•\tSome consumer goods, like electronics, furniture, and vehicles, may have tariffs or duties imposed depending on the category, though the majority of goods between the U.S. and Canada are traded tariff-free under the USMCA, which replaced NAFTA.\n\t5.\tAlcohol and Tobacco:\n\t•\tCanada applies tariffs and duties on alcohol and tobacco products imported from the U.S., but these are often subject to specific regulations and agreements.
