Was not expecting my hometown Columbus, OH to get a shout out. It's definitely a more affordable city to live around, not gonna lie. 2 bedroom apartment you can rent for 1200/month.

As an American who now lives in Japan, Yes! to all of this. I don't think we realize how draining it is to live in that type of environment and the toll is takes over time. I lived in a studio apartment in Chicago that costed the same as a 2 bedroom here, maybe less. I had to work 2 full time jobs to pay rent and other utilizes. I rarely socialized with my friends or went out to do anything. And I thought that was NORMAL. That's crazy thinking back on it now. Also I'm a lot less paranoid in Japan then I was in the States due to safety reasons.

Great video guys I really enjoyed it. I wish I knew how many different towns you guys have really tested the tap water up there, because in the US the tap water changes drastically depending on where you go, in California they import a lot of their water so it travels a long way from the source, and it has to be treated, usually with chemicals, to keep it safe to drink. But there are many places where you can get better tasting water if its somewhere that doesnt import, and doesnt have heavy treatment for the water. Even in california it can chance from town to town, I know I lived in Dublin, CA for a while and they have such fresh tasting water but if you go just a couple towns over it taste nasty again. Also apartments are notorious for having worse tasting water cause it has to go through all sorts of plumbing to get up to your floor and that can effect it. Anyways Thanks guys, peace

This sounds pretty much what Sweden is like except for the online and internet services. Have you tried finding a place to live in Stockholm? Systematic racism exists here as well. Right-wing government taking away permanent residence permits from those who have for years lived and worked in Sweden. There's a huge bedbug infestation in many apartment buildings all over the city, 11 500 Swedish Kr for 18 square meters, and private landlords taking advantage of tenants both in prices and conditions. When a dark-haired tenant moves in, some one will eventually report that there are strange people walking in and out of a certain apartment, a blunt prejudice towards Arabic and African-looking individuals regardless of their nationality, meaning Swedes with different heritage. \nIt sounds like the whole world is on the same beat. \nSorry, but as a Canadian in Stockholm, I would rather suffer back home than in a swedish system where neighbours avoid meeting other neighbours and indifference is everywhere.

You forgot to mention that there is not enough housing , so many people have difficulties to find apartment to live and it can take a month or more

Nova Scotia has many plusses, but it also has gigantic minuses too. Apartment rental prices in Halifax are as high as those in Toronto and rents in smaller towns are also very high- especially in relation to salaries. Nova Scotia has the highest provincial taxes in Canada but with very little to show for it. Around 100,000 Nova Scotians do not have a doctor at the moment and the list is growing not decreasing. Public schools are overcrowded and have very high class sizes- Nova Scotia teachers are the lowest paid in the country. If NS has the best schools in the country, then Canada is in big trouble. Yes, the province did have less violent crime than Ontario or Quebec (property crime has always been around the national average), but that is changing with the increase of 'new comers' in our cities. Fights/Assaults have always been a part of life here, but stabbings used to be non-existent. Now they are common place in our province. Just keepin' in real. It is still a pretty place, but perhaps it is better to visit than to live here.

According to the Americans I've talked to both who have moved to Canada and still live in America, Canada is far better than America. There's plenty of evidence showing the reasons Canada is the better country overall. The main amount of people who move from Canada to America are rich and/or corrupt people because why would you want to move somewhere that offers you less? The working conditions in America are abysmal and the economy and infrastructure are both falling apart at their unrestrained Capitalism. Sorry if this hurts your feelings but it's objective fact that Canadians have it better than Americans in current times. Working class Americans can tell you about all the horrible dystopian level things they have to put up with.\n\nCanada has its issues but to try to pretend America and Canada are on par is deluded.

I live in a small town in Ontario with not many immigrants. I always hear people in the media or politics talking about minority groups and wonder if people from other places feel set apart. I find it a real challenge mentally to not think about it if I see someone who looks different from me…. Like it weighs on my mind, but meanwhile I just want to treat people the same… I think everyone who comes to Canada legally should feel like a part of the country. I’m tired of identity politics that separates more than brings together. To many undocumented Immigrants in Canada already… they are taking everyone’s jobs who actually were born here…. Our Heath care System has fallen apart… it’s impossible to find a place to live because all the undocumented immigrants rent them out…. Literally Canada has fallen apart compared to 15 years ago…. The homeless population is completely out of control… everything in this country has fallen apart…

need to grow our housing(to out-pace investors coming in and turning them into airbnb's) and job availability(to raise wages), lower costs of housing/rent by at least 1/2... after that, sure... my co-worker's been here 3 years and still can't find an apartment because he can only afford about 800$ a month for rent... and for any place even remotely worth living it's 2000$... some of these people in government are so out of touch...

This huge number of immigrants have to live somewhere, while we have difficulties finding an apartment. How much he has to hate his own country and culture. The government does everything to discourage Canadians to have children, but plans to increase immigration. 500,000 a year? This is social engineering and importing potential voters. Plain and simple. Many countries have much lower education standards, and they just can't come here and work in the same field as back home. We can't lower our standards. By the way – so much talk about colonialism. And how can we call the immigration practice that snatches the educated while they are needed in their own countries? And where they will be housed? Half mil people every single year? Now to rent an apartment borders with a miracle. So, Trudeau want as to live on the street because he will have to house newcomers. What a scam. And what about schools and daycares? It is sick and I am totally fed up.

Right now, we need fewer immigrants, not more. It is irresponsible to be opening the floodgates to immigration when we do not have enough affordable housing for them to live in. Where are they going to live? Under the current system, we have more new Canadians bidding up the prices on a limited supply of housing. To say that increased immigration will build MORE houses is just not true. Since 2000, Canada has brought in 5 956 963 immigrants; (Source Statista). During that same period that we brought in almost 6 million new immigrants, Canada’s housing situation has deteriorated to the point so that people are unable to find affordable housing. Forty-year old’s are living in their parents basements because they cannot afford a house or rent an apartment. If 6 million new Canadians only makes housing worse, what will opening the flood gates do? No, we need to fix our problems at home. Ensure that there is enough housing for people to move into before bringing them into Canada.

Despite the median home value in Ontario being around $835,000, good luck actually finding one around that.\nYou'd be lucky to find a townhouse for that price. Maybe a stacked townhouse or a condo. Townhouses are around 1 mil to 1.2 mil, and detached houses are about 1.8 mil to 2 mil. Even rent for a crappy apartment is about $2000 a month. It's getting impossible to get a living space here, most millennials have no choice but to stay with their parents well into their 30s.

That's why most people are moving to mixed-use developments because suburbs are sooooooo LONELY. I have been so lonely ever since I bought my dream house. It's YACK! I would rather live in an apartment complex where people interact easily.

Canada is probably more multicultural & accepting towards immigrants. Trust me, most people here in Australia are still nice & not racist (at least not in front of you, apart from some rarely seen low life loosers). Also, standards of living is slightly higher in Australia than Canada... So, more expensive.

Honest review. I lived in ontario, better say Toronto. Car insurance, rent, work life balance. The good thing is the vibe and some basic things you don't fight alot to attain, the place is vividly. Their economic policies suppress growth people struggle to beyong and you must be equipped with many relevant skills apart from degree. What gives you money in Canada is your own business, risk jobs, most importantly your money source is coming from somewhere and you just invest there in houses, etc. \nThe country is nice and alot of events in the summer, but when the winter comes is really tough and you feel limited if you don't drive, if don't know places to socialise. The minimum wage is very low until this day. In reality everyone has an individual journey, and every experience may be completely different dispite any barriers they may achieve and make their dream come true, but still it will be a very small number.

I'm listening to hear how Canada is not a desirable place to live, bc I have thought it would be a better alternative to the USA. But it still sounds better than life in the USA, if even just slightly. ?\nSo far, I hear 30% taxes on income (which is same in the USA).\nYou have free healthcare, however you have to wait in emergency room for 8 hours.....we DON'T have free healthcare....and guess what? $450+ later, we have still waited 4-10 hours in the ER. \nHere in the USA, our cost of living is insanely high compared to a single and even a double income. Our lowest rent is $1,200 to live in low income surroundings. A rent around $1,800/month will bring you to nicer surroundings in an apartment, but still surrounding areas have crime. \nFood costs are so high, Gas is so high. We haven't bought new clothes for ourselves in YEARS, only for our kids. \nDaycare is $485-500 month per child, even before and after school care. \nHealth insurance averages $145/per person per month, not to mention car insurance which is required to drive. \nSegregation has improved here but is ever being integrated back into our society as racism is kept very alive, even as they constantly teach it in the schools. They say it's to teach history but I believe it is just reinforcing racist ways and thinking patterns. \nI don't blame anyone for wanting to return to the comfort of their own people, language and living and country. \nYou may have us with the cold/hot weather in Canada! \nI didn't know about the Canadian passport being so opportunistic for travelling. The rental housing market in Montreal is so so expensive and horrible,any places renting now for under $1250 .00 have to many problems,from bad noise levels to smokers and pot next door,cockroachs,mold,landlords all charging high prices for dirty apartments,in the last 3 years had to move 3 times do to these problems,just horrible high rents in Montreal,so hard to find a good place to live in Montreal anymore.

There's an old say from my country that goes: the cat whose belly is full, always find the tail of the mouse taste bitter. So the immigrant, like a hungry cat, comes to Canada for food( opportunities) and once his belly is full, he then starts complaining of the taste of the food. You ladies just named every single reason why an opportunist can't stay in one place. I live, as an immigrant in the US, and Im a physician, and I can tell you while the Canadian health system is flawed it is far better than the US. Your 8 hrs+ waiting in the ER is literally a standard waiting time...so please be PATIENT! ( just getting a little sarcastic here, i know it sucks!) 35 to 40% of my money go the government ( although i feel they take 50%) and life is not that cheap ( a lot of Physicians leave expensive places like NY because they can't afford them anymore! ) have you heard of HOMELESS workers in LA? ( some have 2 jobs but still can't afford an apartment and live in their cars ) things are hard everywhere, especially if you are an immigrant living in one of the coldest place in the world (btw nobody called you, that was your choice, so suck it up!) I hope one day, while Im still young, I can go back home to work for my people, and not when I retire and tired to have my people work for me, how selfish and opportunistic is that mentality! My wife, my 3 kids and I used to like Vancouver but not anymore!!! The weather is why we plan to leave for good but also the expensive rents! I also heard about horror stories at many hospitals (and yes, I have worked in Africa and to be honest, Africans hospitals are way more functional than the ones in Canada in terms of human aspect… there they care, Canadians do not give a shit about anyone!!! And I am saying this as a Belgian!!! I have some African colleagues at work here and at least 80 percent of them either want to go back to Africa (one is actually going to start an Afro business there and build his own house) or move to Europe (one of them plans to live to my homeland Belgium and two others in France as apparent the pensions there are way better than the Canadian one) as soon as they get enough experience in canada! None of us at work , including me, want to retire or get old here in Canada! For me personally, it is the Canadian extreme loneliness and lack of willingness to open to others that really shuts me down… I am fed up and and tired of paying taxes in a country where some (not all) hospitals and some retirement homes treat patients like … objects, not human beings! Bad things about Saskatchewan:\n-A LOT of snow, A LOT\n- negative 30c is the norm in winter, summer usually plus 25c (It's COLD)\n-housing prices aren't as cheap as the video says... sure you can buy a place for $280,000 :) ...an apartment. \nA new family house made in 2012 costs $550,000, an old one made in 1980 costs $330,000.\n- Not a lot of bang for your buck. Yes, there are jobs in the major cities but the pay isn't so great unless you are a nurse or work in health care. (Best province for upcoming nurses btw) Minimum wage for the win! \n-As I said previously, minimum wage for the win! There are jobs but you don't get paid enough to live without a roommate or almost be constantly broke.\n-Rent is okay. If you DO manage to get a decent paying job, like a teacher, plumber, doctor, etc, rent is cheap.\n-Expensive retirement. Thinking the healthcare is great for seniors? It is. But, get ready to give every last penny to your senior home. A neighbour got a quote from a local seniors home for him and his wife, $65,000 per year (MINIMUM) for the 2 of them. That's how much the old folks home costed.\n-You need a car. If you want to visit outside the major cities, you need a car. In the cities you can survive traffick by bus, but it is better with a car.\n-You can't see northern lights a lot. Not from the cities. You have to go north, north, north, out in the middle of nowhere.\n\nGood things about Saskatchewan: \n-No cougars. Bears and wolves live here, mainly in the north.\n-People are friendly. There isn't as much crime in the 2 major cities, Prince Albert does have a lot though just like the video said, so I'd steer clear of that place.\n-Great education. Good place to raise a family.\n-Great healthcare. Has most covered in universal healthcare I think out of every province. Seniors like to move to Saskatchewan for retirement. It's a great place to retire if you have the money to move.\n-Lots of local stuff to see. A lot of local shops, parks, camp grounds, etc.\n-Rent is cheap. It's cheaper than Vancouver or Toronto.\n-Food prices are alright. Not good, not bad, just okay. Even a poor single mother can buy some food I think.\n-Lots of land. There is lots of flat land here. Not that you could own it all lol But it is pretty to look at.\n\nHighlights/Best people to move here:\n-nurses\n-immigrants for fast food jobs\n-rich seniors\n-rich families (good place to raise a family)\n\nPeople not good to move here:\n-single people\n-poor seniors

I want to move my family out of Canada as well. Canada was great in the 90s but now it’s like living in a third world Country. The medical system is falling apart, taxes are out of control, cost of living is nuts. you nailed it with all points. I personally work 10 hour days and I have never had a vacation can’t afford it. The whole of 12 odd minutes of this video didn't see a vehicle or human being or even a stray animal. All People seem to be dead like in the film Goldfinger where the whole town is poisoned with gas. \nOur India is slowly becoming like that with new generation becoming aloof and relations falling apart. I am 40 years old and lived all my life in Los Angeles, too many people here too much traffic, that neighborhood your walking through looks beautiful quiet peaceful, also the houses are far apart there which is nice because here in Los Los Angeles most houses are right next to eachother which sucks because your neighbors live right next to you

Everyone's opinion will be different. I am black American. What u see now doesn't mean it's always been that way. When I was growing up in the suburbs of long Island, everyone was outside every chance they got. We kids made up games, jumped rope played in the parks went to the beach concerts etc. The adults, if lived in apartments including housing, sat outside and interacted. Neighbors in houses had block parties, new neighbor welcoming, and so on. One of the reasons at least in my community was that a lot of folks were from the south. Everyone spoke, knew each other in their villages. As time went on and more foreign born moved in things changed mainly because of difference in culture then in some places crime is bad. There's no one shoe fits all. It's different all over this big country.

I came to America when I was 22 .. student life was fun because you have lot of friends I studied in Pennsylvania and in California.. but right after college I lived in a state called Delaware for almost 4 months.. some of the most depressing times of my life .. I experienced everything you said in your video.. at 24 I didn't have a job yet because 2008 happened and so I didn't have a car .. most of the time I am stuck in the apartment studying.. I was so desperate to even see people .. the only place I used to become happy by seeing people is when I go to the mall .. 6 o clock in the evening you don't see anyone in the apartments .. it used to be like ghost town .. I ran away from that place the first opportunity I got ..no matter how much money someone offers I am never going back to Wilmington Delaware

I'm traveling to Tanzania in the summer. As a U.S. citizen, I'm looking forward to the openness of community and culture. I moved from a southern rural town to the country's capital Washington, D.C. I miss the kids playing basketball in the street, the block parties, the neighbors sitting on the porch, drinking beers outside. Here in the city, there's none of that. I've lived in my apartment for years and rarely if ever see my neighbors.

The lingering and deeply embedded poison in US/Canada is suburbs. This not how humans have ever lived, or should live. It isolates you from entire human society and only outlet is commercial spaces. It's built to optimize consumption. You absolutely require a car. You sit isolated in a box then get out b$$y more and then get back at home to watch ad$ on TV. Contrast this with how humans even now live in a society that's normally built. EU, Middle East, and old Asian cities. First residential and commercial areas aren't apart by 15 miles. Instead much of the first floor is filled with appropriate commercial shops and offices. Then most streets are walking/biycycle streets, you can bring a car in but wont use it as a road to get to other side as streets are not straight and crampy. You have 5-8 blocks of buildings with walking streets in between them, these clusters of buildings are then surrounded by car roads. For 80% of things you can leave house and walk 5 mins to get them. Groceries, accountant, pharmacy, hardware store, computer store, mobile phone store, ice cream shop, dentist, general doctor, beauty saloon, barber....... all in walking distance located at first floor. This layout promotes cohesion between neighbors, builds community, builds famliarity, provides safety, kids can play in streets as there is no traffic, and it's not unnatural to have social circle of 30+ people due to this. Back to suburb... only natural human connection you are gonna get is church, walmart, parties, and once you leave college/hs... you are done.

Great video. My first cultural shock in the US was when someone called the police ?‍♀️ on me for sitting in front of a staircase in an apartment complex. They almost charged me criminally for trespassing!!! Coming from ?? Ghana, where we co-live and co-share and co-relate, I was ? shocked. Human beings are social beings. Our innate nature is to inter-depend on others. Once that contract is broken, society won’t be be the same. Most kids in the US are raised indoors and this has serious effects on them growing up. They become anti-social, less empathetic and depressed. Another factor worth considering is the abundance of ☀️ Sunlight. Yes the sun we sometimes complain about in Africa provides vitamin D which helps your serotonin (happiness gland). So it gets worse when you have less sunshine in US and stay indoors.

Outside the big cities sure Quebec might have lower rentals but in the big cities they are almost at par with Alberta. An average 2 bedroom apartment today is 1500 or more per month. So you would need an average 100k annual salary in order to live a comfortable existence.

I'm from Ontario but live in Quebec for most of my life. I wonder where you got the cheap rents in Montreal, I always hear about how expensive the apartments are over there.

The cost of living in Vancouver is ridiculous. We have a household income that places us in the top 5% yet even though we live frugally we can only afford to buy an apartment. On the same wage in the states or Australia we would be in a mansion and living like kings

Canada's immigration policy has two purposes it seems. 1) Keep the housing market white hot. 2) Provide slave labour to pour coffee at Timmy's. at 12$ an hour while apartment rent is 1600$.\n\nPs = you won't know any of this tell you live at least 10 years in Canada

To me, the problem is threefold. a) Toronto and Ontario in general - and perhaps the whole of Canada - are accepting way more immigrants than they have quality jobs for. If you need taxi drivers and plumbers, maybe this experience should be valued way higher than education as part of the existing immigration programs (which is not the case). At least then potential immigrants know this before they come and get stuck in low-paying or relatively OK-paying but repetitive and demoralizing jobs with debts and mortgages that become a trap preventing them from leaving. It's also partially on immigrants themselves who come to Toronto to only find out there's 100 people competing for one spot and that you need to be exceptional - or connected through your ethnic network - to work regular white-collar jobs. b) The official bipartisan policy of non-integration. The naive expectation that having people live in ethnic enclaves will somehow make the overall culture richer is not what happens: instead, people tend to stick to their own communities and the common culture thus gets eroded and limited to economic and financial matters. This makes some cities feel like one large business with everyone networking 24/7 instead of socializing normally. And arguably, having the right culture / social life is what motivates already successful people move in the first place. So when they come and they find out there's nothing but money talk and hustling, they leave (if they're smart). Quebec is doing better in that regard, but then Quebec is not really Canada and it's been pressured to cave in to the same money-centred, uncultured and disconnected society by the feds for decades now. That coupled with a lot of Asian money being laundered in Canada through immigration channels and private equity firms buying whole apartment blocks for rental purposes has led to the highest housing price increase in all of the developed world in the past 20 years or so. The median price of a condo in Toronto is higher than in New York despite the massive gap in salaries and the fact that New York is one of the most expensive cities in the world to begin with. Some draconian measures are needed here to prevent foreign - or even out-of-province ownership -, second property ownership and corporate ownership for renting purposes.

I do not mean to be negative here but anyone of you who is well settled outside Canada, don't come to Canada!, unless you want to do labor work. I know people who have done Masters in Software engineering are working in a Pizza shops. If there is one job opening there are 10 thousand applicants for the same job. Companies showing fake jobs to satisfy govt. pressures. Automated refusals replies of your job applications are common.\n People get hired on sources and within companies. Racism exists, results are killings every now and then. Go and watch news channels like CP24. Thieves are here. Things do get stolen. Recently mass graves are found near schools in multiple areas of small children of indigenous people who were tortured and killed by white supremacy in the past. They couldn't even handle the pandemic properly. Alcohol is cheap marihuana (Hashish, Charas) is legal now. Every 3rd person is smoking weed. Drunk drivers kills innocents on roads often. Every region have different rules and regulations and policies. I moved to Niagara region and they charged me $200 deposit for water $200 deposit for hydro plus monthly bills separate. $1800 to $2000 is the rent of one bed apartment. Burlington where he lives has $2800 to $3000 rent monthly for a house. Go check online! Price of buying a home is in millions of dollars. Go check real estate.

He should break up the hourly wage and how much we pay taxes in canada and what's the take home. And whats the monthly bill apartment bill, grocery, cell phone, internet, car insurance and whats left behind.. living in good neighborhood means higher apartment monthly rents ... u wud have no option but to send ur wife to work. Which wid make other things complicated. Both of them come home tired and upset and life is too fast to just survive. Having the house in Toronto and neighborhood is soo exoensive and u have to keep paying till u die. \nOfcourse ppl work themselves because it's too expensive they can't afford to pay for repair. Just the house and road beauty is not enough. Happiness doesnot come cheap. U pay the price.

Those prices 900 and 980 whatever it was where i live it is the price of a monthly house morgage for a 179,000 capecod home thats what we pay monthly for our home so to pay for an apartment that we would never own is ridiculous.

I live in Vancouver and I believe I was experiencing racism while looking for a placed to live. I was asked over the phone If I was Chinese, I said no and the person said that's what they were looking for. Or when I went to look at a suite and the person was east Indian and they ghosted me after seeing what I look like which happened a few times. This makes it hard to find a place to live in Vancouver considering the high population of Asian home owners. I think it may have been different while looking for apartments. This can happen to white people as well especially in a diverse city.

Antarctica is a country if you think of it a country is a piece of land so i believe the US will find away to live there someday may make it apart of the USA someday when we make a invention to fix the earths climate change control systems to live on places like Antarctica and Bermuda triangle
