It's not true to say education is free in Canada. Unlike the UK, in Canada every year we have to pay a contribution to school fees. Noon supervision fee, exam fees, fees for sports clubs, materials fee. It mounts up if you have a few kids. This came as a surprise to me when moving to Canada. In UK employees get much more paid vacation time from employers. I'd say life can be better in the UK in terms of work life balance but I think Healthcare is better in Canada although it can be expensive if you have no insurance for things such as dental care.

I saw comments about the Caribbean, our countries are not the same, there is one Caribbean country that is always in turmoil and their people are fleeing for refuge . Barbados don’t have no turmoil our people do not seek refugee status in no country. On top of that we have people from the UK, Canada and USA fleeing their country to migrate to ours, they don’t cause any issues at all. The issues are the others migrating that have different cultures and religions doing the same thing they’re trying to do in these large western countries. These people will never represent our culture or country, even if they came to get our passports.

Travelling to a country and living + working in the same country are 2 very different experiences. My friends, family, and colleagues based in the UK, Spain, US, Australia, and Dubai all have been complaining about things very similar to what you're complaining about. the main concept of any foreign govt giving permanent residency is whether you fulfil the need for them, so this is good for people who have some skills and can positively contribute but anyone who just wants to go for the sake of going there is not going to get anything , they better study and then return .. this is nothing different from UK, its very hard to get Tier 2 visa in UK unless your job is in shortage or in the occupation list but the difference is that Canada has been very lenient in the past allowing people clearing just 10 years of schooling also getting student visas, this has not happened in UK as people come to study bachelor's or master when they have completed full 12+ years of schooling in their home country.. may be it was needed then in Canada but now its not the same case..so if govt is taking this step its first in the interest of the local people including the ones who have gained citizenship with proper procedure..

They also taken over our post secondary /university position. But today Ontario with 18% acceptance of international students to medical school (of course they went back to their countries to practice,leaving us short of family doctors) has now ban this practise to medical schools. My friends daughters had to go to Caribbean’s and UK to study and eventually has to stay there because they met their partners there and also could not convert their degrees to return to Canada.
