I feel bad for those who were duped into coming here to Canada. They had big dreams of becoming successful here, instead not being able to do that and being forced to live in cramped accommodations. I work in healthcare, and a lot of people who work in the facility in which I'm employed were brought here from the Philippines and India, mostly. Some were hired directly by this employer, while others came here some other way. Those with professions like being an RN were under the impression that it wouldn't take that long or be that difficult to get their Canadian certification to work as RNs here. Instead, they found out that the process for that here in Canada is a lot tougher and takes a lot longer than they'd been led to believe. So many are left not being able to use their education to its fullest, instead working as care aides until they can get the proper certification. I know that this has also happened with doctors and engineers and to many in other professions for which they went to school for years. It's a real shame.\n\nThis massive influx of people coming from other countries, though, has been really tough on those of us who were already living here. It's been way too many people, and we just weren't prepared. It's been one of the biggest factors in the huge increase of cost of living and, of course, it's by far the reason we have an enormous housing shortage.\n\nI'm not completely anti-immigration, but I think that it needs to be stopped, at least for a while. Let us deal with what's going on now instead of bringing in more people that would only help to make things worse, through no fault of their own. There's no reason that we need to have more people coming here right now. We have way more than enough people here right now.

Just invest in foreign real estate for your investment US is an easy one depending on the state Florida might come handy for some or invest in places you have connections. Once money starts moving out and building new private housing and rental availability start to get affected even more, they will understand. Anything more than 3 months to solve rental issues in the board is unacceptable and if gov can deduct childcare payment from wages then they can deduct unpaid rents too

Why don’t we dive into the real problem, foreign investors gobbling up the housing market . 36% percent of ontario condos are owned by investors, up to 80 percent in many Toronto neighbourhoods. Millionaires , usually foreign, eating up entire neighbourhoods and jacking up the prices purposely, just as they did in Vancouver. Finding ways to surpass China’s taxing regulations by buying up our housing market here and making bank. How are people overlooking this ? Don’t you see the bigger picture ? They want you to simply blame “the immigrants” but we have a MUCH bigger issue here, but most people at the top that are supposed to advocate for us are getting paid off, so they aren’t going to talk about this

No amount of money will solve the addiction of crack, cocaine in the world. This is a real problem in all places. Once the people try them they get hooked and go to live in barracks in street because their relatives had enough. They try hard and do not succeed. Okay so no 100 k wont' get you that life you dream of, you'll get by in BC, but you can't buy anything. You can rent, you need 200 k now in BC, Kelowna average house is 1.1 m, Vancouver 1 bedroom is 3000 +, nobody wants to live in a jail cell, but maybe some wierdo's do? I don't know. \n\nIf your working and making 100 k in Vancouver, your working likely many hours for that, meaning there is no pay off, no car, rent a small apartment, have little savings.\n\nNow here's the REAL catch. If you make what some think is rich in Canada say 300 k a year. That works out to 182,000 after taxes, pension etc. Now homes in Vancouver, well let's maybe look at small condo's, hmm lets say a 850 sq foot condo sets you back 900 k, monthly mortgage is 6000, that's 72,000 a year, insurance, no car okay can't afford it, maybe a small car, 1000 a month insurance, payments fuel etc, cable, internet phone, etc etc food, another 2000 for a family of 3, wife one child. Thats now 9000 a month, dental, eye glasses, clothes, sports, other, another 1000 a month, 10,000 a month = 120,000 a year to live in a small 2 bedroom condo in Vancouver. Oh and condo fees 500 per month, so 126,000 a year, no extras yet.\n\nmeaning if you make 300 k a year and lets add on JOB expense, usually with high income comes some expenses, lets call it 6000 a year, suits, whatever. Thats 132,000 minus the after tax income of 182 and your left with 50,000 per year for savings and xmas, travel etc.\n\nNow you make 300 k a year and you live in a small 2 bedroom apartment and maybe some day, 10 years down the road you can buy a home. \n\nAnd the max you can afford on 300 k a year is around 1 million after a 100 k deposit.\n\nNow if you make more than that, there is NO reason to live in Canada, in BC they take 48 % of my income and what do I get lol, zilch, bad health care haha fun,

You're quite the negative Nelly aren't you.? I trust you aren't a 20 something useless male that will never wear the uniform, or get an education of value. Are you? Real estate developers are causing the problem, building costs are the problem. Household debt is high because of foreign greedy developers and Canadian building products. How is that our fault? I moved to Australia from Canada over 20 years ago. After the draconian lockdowns and being forced out of my job by j mandates, I've wanted to get the hell out of this country. Since Labor won all state elections and the federal election, things have taken a serious downturn. It's a big clown show. The state government here in Victoria, home of Dictator Dan, has racked up such a colossal debt that there's just no way out of it. They're raising taxes and making up new ones as the go along into the abyss. There's nothing here but a big real estate bubble and when it pops, there will be tent cities all over the place. The government created the problem just like in Canada. They increased the population by 1.6% in ONE SINGLE YEAR with immigration and now there's not enough housing to meet demand. The lockdowns took all my savings and a chunk of my superannuation to just survive, and I was robbed of over a year of earnings by the government. I've been stuck in this massively over-priced hovel for 3 years longer than I had planned and now would be lucky to even be in the top 20 picks for a rental, at twice the price. It's only a matter of time before the job market implodes due to business closures and the all around terrible climate in which to start new business. I want out, but the prospect of returning to Canada is beyond depressing. Everything that drove me out of Canada in the first place is 10x worse now. My other alternative is UK but I don't feel like going to prison for liking memes about Keir Starmer on Facebook, so UK is out of the question. Not to mention that it's economically doomed and has a worse healthcare system than Canada. There are lines around city blocks to get into a GP clinic.

I am a Serbian and Canadian living in Canada for the last 24 years. I love \nthis country I respect this country but my God is so much different than it used to be or it is me. This summer I went with my kids and wife to 6 different countries in Europe Eastern Europe and Central and have seen 2 alcoholic then I come to Canada I see thousands of drug addicts on the street. everything is overpriced ppl do not enjoy in here. When I came in 2000 Serbian economy was low due to the war now it is better and Canadian economy is worse so the gap is very small. you need to make 6000$ to live just ok and I do live well but there is always but. I call it a pressure cooker, I wish all Canadian travel abroad a bit just to realize that they were lied too and that there's a lot of bs. I can give you an example: Condo in Belgrade same size property tax is 200$ per year condo in Qc Gatineau 2500$ plus condo fees 400$ per month basically 7000$ wasted for what? no dr wholes on the street broken system. It will be for sale. I agree paying taxes on my house where I live but for rental property when you deduct all the expenses you invested so much money without any profit. the one that works and the one that scams the system make the same amount of money and we live approx the same. something is wrong there. I will live for many years to come but definitely not spending my whole life here due to many circumstances and expenses. Family values are getting killed and I have issues with that. The more I was pushed to change the more I went to church and believed in old fashioned traditional values. As you said I will always be grateful for what I made but working hard for two jobs in the last 20 years I would make that somewhere else too. Canada has changed too much since I came that's for sure. What triggers me the most fake approach when ppl say I make 100k wow then you didn't get that, that is only on the pay stub. how much did you get 50k that is the real money then you need to add deductions house tax this tax, sewage, water it comes less and less and then you realize that in reality you make more but you spend so much more with less quality of life. who cares how much you make the question is how do you live with the amount that you make.?

After 8 years I can’t bear anymore it’s getting harder and harder I‘m middle-aged Man, single , highly skilled in field networking Engineer , I consider myself hardworking, results oriented, practical but the accomplishment here moving sooooo slow let me explain: it took me 1 year to get the driving license although I have driving experience for 16 years ! It took me 2 years to eventually find an apartment although my income consider to be above average! More than 18 months for the language! More than 2 years for wife reunion! , …. Etc the bureaucracy is the biggest enemy of this country without finding a real solution it will be worse! Plus other challenges like language, wealth, social life, but for me was the bureaucracy the hardest!!

So Canada opens it's arms to you and as soon as it gets tough you leave? We know who the real Canadians are at least. They are the ones staying and fighting to improve the country.

It is very hard to point out all the negatives about Canada (at this time) without getting into politics, but I am looking forward to your video.\n\nCanada has changed over the last 10 years that it is unrecognizable. While many countries have changed due to global factors, many changes in Canada can be traced back to the policy issues and politics (all levels of gov but especially federal gov). That includes: 1) mass immigration (at a time when we have a housing crisis and most of ppl living here cannot afford a place (to buy or rent)), 2) crime - this is directly related to changes introduced by the federal liberals, 3) drugs - federal liberals again, 4) housing crisis - all levels of gov - most of people in Canada cannot afford a place to buy or rent - what kind of country are we???, 5) economy (GDP/capita has been decreasing for 2 yrs now, investment per worker has been stagnant or decreasing, productivity) - our economy is real estate, education and public sector, 6) deficit/fiscal irresponsibility - all levels of gov but federal liberals are exceptionally good at this. We are a mess.

Indo Canadian here. Anti Immigration <> Racism. It is about selecting need based immigrants and not project Management diplomas. We need nursing, Doctors etc and not Uber drivers. For those who are in healthcare qualified and driving ubers need a path to certification. The Other aspect is scapegoating as immigrants are the easy targets. While real issue is the policymakers who enabled this mess. Essentially promoting falsehood, setting false expectations and getting wrong allocation of immigrants. This is also fueling fodder to far right which are using this for scapegoating the victims over policy makers.

Because people are shooting in our streets and on the beaches. And that's just the least of the issues we can't talk about the real ones because then we're called bad names why is it that certain people get to have special privileges

My impression is that Canada has few opportunities for immigrants. They have to have local experience before they can get a job in their fields, but that creates a Catch-22 situation. Also, the Canadian economy is not doing too well, with low productivity, minimal investments in research and development, and an over-dependence on extractive industries and real estate. I think your family emigrated there at the right time, when Canada was at its best.

The harsh winters in Canada have always been a negative living here but the quality of life used to help make up for it. Sadly, that just isn’t the case anymore. \n\nWe were able to buy simple family home on 1 acre of land back in the 80s with only one income. But the ever rising cost of real estate has made home ownership out of reach for many young people today. Burdened with high student debt, astronomical rental rates, and the high cost of living, most young people are living paycheque to paycheque. It’s a struggle just to keep one’s head above water, let alone build any savings for the future. \n\nI have two adult millennial children who find themselves in that position. They both have decent jobs but they’re just getting by, not getting ahead. I currently am considering Germany as work in Canada is horrible for medical educated personnel. Was looking at Italy, Spain, Poland, and Sweden. Canada is hitting me up for a lot of taxes Federal , Provincial, and Municipal. I also am taxed by the USA for taxes for my real estate holdings, and get taxed by Canada for homes I inherited from my elderly uncle’s. I literally rent my homes to my cousins in Tacoma and Kansas as rental rates are unaffordable. I see house values go up but taxes are there to make it impossible to support the valuation. But enough about my tax problems, I hope you can take your journey over there and report what it’s really like?

When you save money for retirement, the govt takes your pension. When you try to save money from each paycheque, the inflationary prices of groceries/gas/utilities takes it away. If you need to go to a hospital or doctor visit, you have to wait months or can only settle for the most basic of services. If you try to own real estate, there's always some scheme to steal your money either by jackal tenants or the new capital gains tax. The whole persona of the Western world being the land of milk and honey is gone and has become a dark money-sucking debacle that only feeds the corrupt running the Federal reserves or World Banks. Unless you're a country like Ukraine or Israel, you get nothing.

Was there ever any verification of this story or anything she said? The answer is no. Because if there was; many half-truths, discrepancies and misrepresentations would have been discovered in her story. I was doing some historical research on the Ark of the Covenant....revealed some evidence that the 'Sephardic Jewish' folks have been hiding for thousands of years....and part of this involves the location of the Ark of the Covenant and the REAL exodus lands of the Ashkenazi Jews. Because they shared European blood with the folks there. They took their cousins in. But only THEIR cousins. \n \nAfter the Sephardic Jews were pushed by Persians into Spain they were kicked out into Morroco / Africa when the Europeans took back this region. Its clear they don't like Africa. Its clear they don't like Europe. If you are NOT one of these folks DO NOT support crimes or false propagandas that attack other races before making sure. Don't just believe them when they shove you across the globe in migration when they tell you that you are legal.

i think the real problem is not getting people but getting people from same place. why has nobody think that they could get people from another side of the world?

Unfortunately the claim of racism is what immediately shuts down any real discussion of this issue.\n\nThe fact of the matter is housing prices are FAR too high. And while there are certainly main contributors, one cannot simply ignore the area of supply and demand. Too many people looking for too few locations to live. It doesn't get more basic than that.\n\nThe PROBLEM is our economic growth numbers are DEPENDANT on immigration, and if we just cut immigration the numbers will plummet and foreign investment will tank. We'd dug this hole for ourselves by voting in leaders that rely on immigration to prop up what is fundamentally a very weak economy.

No matter where you live in Canada we are bombarded with American News so we can see all the bad things that happen in the US. Canadian news is designed to be more of an informative format whereas American News is much more sensationalized so we don't always get to see through the crap! I would agree that much of the USA is quite safe but the reality is that anyone wanting to move from Canada to the USA is more likely to find their best opportunities in larger urban centers where all these concerns become far more real.

However, I got almost free housing and obtained my PR. \n\nThen I got a better job. There are plenty of jobs in Alberta where employers provide accommodation almost for free or completely free. The job may not be the best, but you can save money quickly. That's what I did. I worked another year for a sewer company, completed my trucking school, and now I have my Class 1. \n\nSome companies even pay for your trucking school, but you have to sign a contract for 1 or 2 years. They might not pay much, but hey, you'll get your Class 1. \n\nYou need to read more forums and talk with more people. Don’t just sit and wait for a miracle.

The government is to blame. And ordinary people always get the brunt of public anger . It's much easier to attack anyone new or vulnerable than to organise in a way that forces government to address the real economic and social structural issues that underpin the growing inequalities in Canada.

Canada and America just need to focus on two of main problems...which are greed and a lot of people getting in real estate who are either renting or selling at a severely inflated rate because those people in real estate just want take short cut early retirement. If rich individuals or companies create more jobs that are entry level and offer decent salary then rich individuals or hedge fund companies can buy empty land and buy town homes or a tower like apartment and charge a decent rate.

This isn’t totally accurate, and comparing Canada to the US is like comparing apples to oranges, a more apt comparison would be Canada and Australia (similar government structure, similar population, similar economy) unlike the us that has 8x our population and is the richest country in the world lol. \n\nThat being said the problems with the Canadian economy are pretty straightforward imo, for housing it’s simple, the Canadian government has invested heavily into the real estate market with things like the Canada pension plan being largely invested into the CPP. There is also a huge amount of people who have banked their retirement on the value of their home, for the most part these are blue collar workers. These two things combined have created a huge problem for the government, it basically has to choose between fixing the worsening housing crisis and in the process wipe out the savings and retirement accounts of millions of Canadians or let the problem get worse and worse until something boils over. This problem is also being compounded by the increasing number of international students being misled into coming here, they are being promised world class education but are receiving bogus diplomas from what are essentially sham colleges (thanks Ford). \n\nWhen looking at the competition in the country it’s a more complicated problem than people like to admit, in order to not become a client state of the US we have to place stronger protections on our industries and media, this insures that Canadian money stays within the Canadian market but has the drawback of discouraging competition. Now if you ask me the solution to this is to nationalize large industries that are being controlled by large oligopolies who unnecessarily manipulate the price of goods like Bell, Rogers, Loblaws, air Canada, petrol Canada, etc. By taking control of these industries the government could have better control of the price of goods and should result in better prices for consumers in turn we’re leaving some of the pressure placed on us by the cost of living crisis. This worked wonders for alcohol which in Ontario brings in 1.5 billion in revenue for the government each year, imagine how much internet, electricity, phone service and produce could bring in.

There are now quite a few news stories in Canada of immigrants leaving the country - some back home and others to the USA and other places. Many just get a Canadian passport and then leave. There are public health care and pensions, so it can be an asset and also a convenient travel document to have. A lot of Canadian university graduates have a very hard time finding work in their fields and a lot of them look to the US for a better future. Both immigration and unemployment in Canada are much higher that in the US - so more people are chasing fewer jobs that often pay less and are taxed more than in the USA. Opportunities are generally a lot fewer in Canada than the US, and the business environment is not as favourable, and taxes significantly higher. You would be getting some of the entrepreneurs from Canada moving to the US for more favourable conditions as well to launch a business and also now a lot more rich investor types, so-called high net worth individuals wanting to relocate, because they just raised the capital gains tax in Canada. Capital gains is also triggered on inheritance in Canada with a deemed sale of property and assets, so rich people would prefer the American system and want to be residents there for tax purposes and have their assets grow in value in the US compared to Canada. There are very large numbers of foreign students and other categories of immigrants which may have as their goal going to the US after getting a temporary visa to Canada which is easy to get - maybe something like half a million to a million people in those categories depending on the year, plus around another half million regular immigrants and refugees now. The Trudeau administration has increased immigration to record numbers. It has been steadily going up over the years for several decades since 1990. Because of family re-unification it can have a snowball effect and could significantly exceed 1 million per year. A lot of the sending countries have much larger populations than Canada, so there are a lot more that can be potentially sent to Canada in the future. About 1/4 of the population of Canada has been added in the past few decades. Add to that visitors and temporary visas - that is a lot of people potentially moving to the US. Before the 1990s Canadians visiting the US were not required to have a passport and a drivers' license or birth certificate was adequate. Now a passport is required. It is impossible to effectively control the long Canada-US border, so there could be some unified policies in that area agreed on between Canada and the USA on immigration and refugees. Canada currently has a very open immigration policy with the government actively seeking out more immigration beyond its current processing capacity and trying to take rejected immigrants from other countries. The Canadian government, especially in recent years under Trudeau is immigration hungry. It might be the only country in the world doing that. What some news reports are now saying is that some immigrants are actually leaving, since they find it so difficult in Canada and some are worse off than they were in the countries they came from, which were considered to be less developed than Canada. \nWashington currently has more immigration controls and administrative competencies than Ottawa, so US pressure and influence is a faster way to get reforms into the system than waiting for local politicians to do anything, which is unlikely. Canada is seen by some as a backdoor into the US. Biden's immigration policies could be seen as very conservative in Canada compared to Trudeau's. It used to be in the news about how refugees were trying to get to Canada and walking across the border in Quebec and out west from the US earlier, but now there are more news stories of immigrants leaving Canada trying to go the other way, probably due to high costs and unemployment because the government took in more people than it could absorb into the economy. They have the idea that immigration drives GDP growth so that they can borrow and spend more, expand the civil service, etc. without making any cutbacks or efficiencies, supposedly without the Debt to GDP ratio getting worse, just by bringing in more people as if that would drive the economy. A lot depends on who you bring in as well. Are they going to go on welfare, are they going to increase crime, will they somehow contribute to society, are they a net tax benefit or cost in terms of government services, will they invest money, will they start a business and create jobs for others ? Those issues do not factor into government decision making in Canada for the most part. Ontario Premier Doug Ford did say there were too many foreign students. It is bad planning not to consider those factors since there are other costs that grow with those policies as well, and infrastructure has to be expanded. I think that the real immigration numbers to Canada are not transparent or made public, nor are the costs involved, if anyone even knows what they are. Nor is the impact on crime. You can guess from what the reports are in other countries. The Fraser Institute has made some estimates on the net costs of immigration to the government budget a few years ago, which were very high and which by now have increased - the cost equivalent of several new aircraft carriers each year. They are big numbers which are not publicized, but it amounts to the fact that immigration is subsidized by the taxpayers in Canada and it is not paying for our pensions as an ageing society as has been claimed. There is less money for education, health care and pensions per person, and those social benefits will probably have to be reduced over time. Social programs can only be delivered to the extent that the government has money. The bigger social system a county has, the more such immigration policies are going to cost. Trudeau has been expanding various social programs as well, so higher taxes and debt are likely with that approach. Then more productive people and companies will want to leave Canada and go to the US. Probably the government does not know what the actual numbers and costs are and doesn't actively keep track of that information beyond what is required. Probably nobody knows what the true immigration figures and their associated costs are in Canada, and hardly anyone has even studied those issues. If they can just walk across the US border and get papers so easily making an asylum claim, it is not surprising, since it would take them longer to get a regular visa and work permit if they did it legally. You could call that a loophole in the US immigration system which is being exploited. The US is better governed in general and has a better system in many ways, but I am not sure if it is the same on that. People have arrived on boats and have not been sent back. At least in the US you have more open information about those issues. In Canada it is hard to find out anything about it. Deportations from Canada are very few. \nOn other issues in Canada when voting in federal elections you have to show a government issued photo ID like a drivers' license or passport to vote and bring a card that was mailed out to eligible voters that gets updated addresses when a person files their taxes. I have never heard of mail-in ballots in Canada, but there are remote areas of the country in the far north who may have special system for voting. It is easier to get a Canadian citizenship than US and many more citizenships are handed out in Canada each year in proportion to the population than in the US. Canadian might be one of the easiest citizenships to get in the world. The official line now is that it is a country of immigrants. Based on current trends, will very little opposition to it in the parliament and most MPs supporting it, future immigration to Canada could increase to several million per year because of the rapid growth of population in the world, and the momentum already growing of immigration to Canada, so it may change significantly in the future. Historically around the world you can see many examples that country names, borders, flags and languages change over time with population changes, so it might not be called Canada anymore in 50-100 years. For example, Bulgaria used to be called Thrace which had been a powerful kingdom in antiquity and had a different language which is barely known about anymore. Over the past 2,000 years it has gone through a number of changes and had various regimes governing it, has been independent and also part of several different empires. Canada has only been a country for a short time in comparison and has been been going through significant changes. Trudeau has said that Canada is a post-national country. Canada is also going through a period of critical self-examination and deconstruction-revisionism. A lot of what had been viewed as positive from its history now is seen more critically, with re-naming and removing historical figures now seen as negative.\nDiscussing immigration policy critically is considered by many to be taboo in Canada, unless a person is saying good things about it in general. You can hear people say that the government isn't processing enough people, for example, but not often that there are too many or that it costs a lot of money. The trend of migration from Canada to the US would only increase much more in the future as it is going currently, and its role as a stepping stone to migration to the US could increase. The way this would be seen by many in Canada is that they are losing valuable people to the USA whom they consider assets, since a lot of officials have been trying to bring in more people into the country, but not everyone wants to stay in Canada nowadays because of a lack of jobs and opportunities. You forgot to mention that a large majority of MP’s are landlords or have investments in real estate rentals. The trend was visible since 2004. These rats are the ones creating the demand, they have stalled real estate development, they have brought in more immigrants to increase the demand.
