Honestly the batshit crazy comment reflects the #1 concern most Canadians have with the United States. We have conservatives and religious types but they're all more or less respectful and they don't try to control Canadian society. In comparison, at least a fifth of Americans are borderline fascists, and none of us want anything to do with those types of people. Since Trump took office they've become a hundred times worse, as now they're even threatening annexation. Sorry if it's hard to accept, but America has a serious problem right now, even if you're a good person.

I personally think that Tariffs are not going to be good for US economy long term, i also think that if Trump is too heavy with Canada they might become hostile towards America long term

I try to understand the mind set of the Democrats , I truly try.\nWhat is it they believe? Why do Democrats support the perversion of sexuality? Why do Democrats support the ending of the unborn? Why do Democrats support war? Why do Democrats support wasting the hard earned money of American citizens on foreigners? Why do Democrats support the stealing of American taxpayers money for personal gain? Why do Democrats believe they are the embodiment all that is good? Why do Democrats believe that President Trump is not working for the benefit of Americans? Why do Democrats believe letting criminals into America is a good thing? I could go on. As an American I am afraid of my government. Our future is bleak and uncertain. I can not do anything due to me being 1 person. Tariffs generate US Gov income which will fund TAX CUTS for Trump and the wealthy...that's not dumb for Trumps personal income, but it is IMMORAL and dumb in every other respect

Trump has destroyed trust in US allies, and it can ont be repaired easy. Trust can be destroyed in minutes, but it takes many years, maybe decades, before it can be gained again. It affects not only what US experiences right now with Canada and Mexico. Be sure that even Taiwan Australia and all other Asian allies are questioning right now if USA can be trusted. Imagine, Trumps breaks a treaty with Canada and Mexico which he personally has established in his first presidency and sold to his people as the greatest deal that has ever been archieved. Tells you a lot about US credebility. Trump is right now destroing world order which has been established mainly by USA after WW2.\nI heared, that there are rumors, that Trump might be a Russian KGB agent since 1987. I don't know if that is true, but it would explain a lot of why Trump is acting as he does - it is not in the interest of USA, pressurizing/blackmailing/offending/humiliating US allies and destroying US and foreign economies. This is practically enacting a wishlist of foreign dictators like Putin and Xi Chin Ping.\nIt certainly will not make America great again, but poorer, weaker and internationally isolated. it will be US people that will suffer the most.

I think we need to give it time. In a year or two picture should be clear. I don't think tariffs are necessary a bad thing long term if they spike more production of everything or at list anything in US. Short term it would be painful for everybody tho. We become a country of no production. Only consumption is not healthy. It is how every empire behaves on a last breath. Look back in history. Rom, Spain etc.Sooner or later we wouldn't be able to exchange worthless green paper to goods anymore outside of the country unable to produce anything inside the country and we die. My family has been in America before it was the United States ( since 1738 ). The person that was elected our president is an embarrassment to us and our friends. We stand with Canada and Ukraine.

In the Philippines, Philippine entrepreneurs and the like who are exporting their products had been enjoying tax incentives (It does mean when exports live the country versus imports being received by the country then) as Philippine export earning is the one making the Philippine economy richer with money gained while import is making the money to go out of the country (going out as cost or expense) then while being revenue of another country (so that the profit of a country which is revenue less the expense is obviously what is the truth about any argument about tariff (which in a way is discriminating the deficit in becoming wider and wider to the pleasure of those who loved imported goods then).

I must admit that despite my reservations about Mr. Trudeau, I can only stand in solidarity with the statements made here. Politics should not be a matter of ego, trade wars, or personal disagreements, as it is ultimately the people who, unfortunately, remain the eternal victims of these trivial battles. \n\nAs a French citizen, I can therefore only join this fight against political absurdity, which Mr. Trudeau has led here with both tact and courage. If I could afford to move from the US to Canada I would move. I am so sick of Trump’s destructive behavior. I effectively spent a chunk of my childhood in America with relatives. I treasured these memories, but now all the feelings of wonder and happiness when thinking of my visits to America have faded. Now I just think of how selfish it was to sabotage Canada. American private equities want to rock our system and buy up all they can and so I am happy we are watching for this. You know I’ve been killing myself working non stop for like a decade trying to hold it all together because of all the increased prices of everything. As a result I have not been paying attention. I know the tariff thing was happening, but didn’t know why this was a thing. \n\nShame on me for not being more up to date. \n\nI also know nothing about Trudeau or his political stance on literally anything aside from what he talked about in this video. \n\nI must say this was of speaking is EXACTLY what I expect from a world leader. Everything was delivered very well and without personal emotions. He’s not going off the cuff and saying whatever pops into his head. THIS is the exact style of communication we need from world leaders. I don’t see how it helps anyone, anywhere in the world to have people in control of nuclear armed nations to be shooting from the hip with communication.

In Toronto, I went grocery shopping after work and there was certainly a sense of national pride & determination in everyone there. Lots of people clustering around certain products and helping others, scanning products with apps that identify supply chains. As I went to the cashier, I dutifully returned my OJ to the store fridge and picked up some apple cider instead. To me this is more than existential, this is personal.\n\nWe will not back down; Canada shall prevail ?
