I am never a fan of our Prime Minister but today, he got my full respect and admiration. We all know it is not about Fentanyl or illegal immigrants crossing from Canada as little as they were. Donald Trump is just using these as excuse. He is cozying up with US' one of two prime adversaries - Russia and China - and whacking friends and allies, alienating the United States. Donald Trump probably is considering authoritarian rule over democracy. I can't wait for the day that his dumb action will whack him back. This current regime is transmuting Trump's anger at the whole world into punitive measures. Tariffs will raise inflation, bullying and fingerwagging gratuitous. To use fentanyl and human trafficking and illegal border crossings as an excuse is chicken. Canada accommodated US by setting up commissions to combat each. So...what is the real schtick here? He is gonna alienate everybody but Putin.

These tariffs have nothing to do with Fentanyl. Fentanyl is the excuse needed to apply tariffs which otherwise would be illegal. Canada needs to start trading more with other countries. The USA is not a reliable trade partner when one man can completely FK the system.

I seem to recall the whole tariff thing started when Donald wanted to even up the 200 billion dollar subsidy to Canada which doesn’t exist, then he chose the immigration and fentanyl crisis that doesn’t exist … can’t wait to hear the next excuse. I would love to hear the real reason for this, and we will one day. I have no doubt that we Canadians will survive this nonsense as we always do.

Fentanyl coming from Canada was less than 1%. This was just an excuse for Trump. Trump wants to start WW 111 and start with Canada. As a businessman, Trump was using Fentanyl crisis as a lame excuse. No matter how much fentanyl is controlled across borders he was still guaranteed in imposing the 25% trade tariff. \nCanada govt invested so much into the border security recently and visited multiple times in Washington to discuss this 25% trade tariff but all of them forgot that Trump is a very aggressive and stubborn when it comes to money!\n\nI am glad Trump has made Canada and even Trudeau bold and self dependent now!

It’s heartening that so many nations have solicited Canada, offering alternative sources for common US exports to Canada —citrus fruits, pharmaceuticals, and other manufactures, to name a few.\n\nI don’t think Canadians even realize how big this unofficial boycott is getting because it’s growing so fast. I’ve never seen a surge in Canadian patriotism like this. Never in my seven decades —which includes the two Referenda on Quebec separation.
