Let me explain the trading relationship briefly that occurs between Canada and the US for context. \n \nCanada Has a LOT of natural resources, more than our domestic manufacturing base needs (Uranium fuel, Lumber/paper products, Steel and other metals, Fertilizer for farms...etc). Therefore we sell those raw materials to the states where they are manufactured into goods, which we then buy back. a LOT of American service companies like tech, media (And yes, even banks)...etc also operates in Canada as well. (For the auto sector the parts flip back and forth across the border like 8 times) \n \nThis relationship alone has the American economy see a large trade surplus with Canada, however there is another element to it: Energy. \n \nCanada is also home to a LARGE amount of really cheap renewable hydro power in the east, and a LOT of oil in the west, due to a lack of infrastructure we really can only sell that oil to the states and therefore it is done at a discount. America refines this cheap oil into gas and is a large part of the reason why American gas is so cheap. They use this energy to power the same factories mentioned above. (Oh and also the NE states import a lot of that clean hydro electricity for the same reasons) \n \nThe US Buys SO MUCH of that cheap energy from us to power your industrial base, that it swings the numbers on the trade balance into a small deficit for the USA. (41 billion out of a TRILLION dollars total trade, or about -4.1% of total trade so literally a pretty small deficit) It also swing back and forth every year so \n \nThen comes Trump. He wants Canada as a 51st state and own the entire continent, therefore he manufactures an excurse that our border is leaky and that migrants and fentanyl are flowing over. (In actual case migrants and the flow of Fent is about 1% the amount that's crossing at the Mexico border but he needs an excuse) \n \nHe therefore puts 25% tariffs on us. Those tariffs will hit Canada harder than the 2008 financial crisis just for scale. \n \nOh and also for the most part American Refineries literally cant process any other oil than ours or Venezuela's because its thicker so tariffs on our oil will also really increase the priced of energy in the states by a huge amount just for the LOLs. As we've seen during the post covid recovery, since gas is priced in to the supply chain at every step (Manufacturing, transportation...etc), any increase at the pump will snowball into higher costs for everything at the store, on top of the extra cost of the tariffs on consumers. (Since every step will need to add it into their markup.)

American prices will rise across the board, farms will fail, factories will shut down, unemployment will climb and the US being a weak society will sit there and take it while the billionaires and corporations pulling the strings plunder the treasury and steal all the tax money. All of this is caused by corporate greed gumming up the system with lobbying, NIMBYism, and plain old corruption by large real estate and rental groups. Singapore Airlines is an absolute treat to fly on. I gather in a microcosm, it is interesting to compare Air Canada and Singapore airline or all Nippon airways, with Air Canada. Air Canada is very expensive for a one or two hour flight, not so in Southeast Asia. Air Canada service is horrible, intimidating, and nasty. Singapore airlines and all Nippon airways, is exactly the opposite. Air Canada makes it very difficult for you too make claims on cancelled flights, broken luggage, and breaches of contract. Singapore airlines and other airlines in Southeast Asia go out of their way to advert a claim. The taxes on a ticket with Canada is horrendous, both indirect and direct taxes, in Singapore and all Nippon airways, much more reasonable. I think when you compare to airlines or multiple airlines against Air Canada, Air Canada is a microcosm of economics, workplace normality, and courteousness. Canadians will always say “I am sorry. “but let me assure you for somebody that is both, culturally Asian and Canadian, they don’t mean it a bit. The culture is more passive aggressive than anything else. Canadians are distant, and have a very, very remote education on their own country. I also have to give credit to the Singaporean pilots. There is usually the captain, first officer, and a second officer or two upfront. Excellent training for the up-and-coming first officers and captains. In Canada, of course we don’t do this. I feel at the safety upfront, especially in an IFR environment, is being sacrificed in Canada and North America. cost is everything, will safety seems like it has taken a backseat. Second officers should be mandatory on all Air Canada flights. This is not the case anymore. Also, on a visual approach to hit the button, I would definitely give the Singapore captain the edge. The hands and feet of an air. Canada pilot has deteriorated beyond belief where, if they don’t have their flight management system and auto pilot going in full tilt, they start sweating and second-guessing themselves. If Egypt, jordan, Quatar, to name the immediate Arab Neighbors would rally together to get the women and children out of harms way, surely the outcome would be better for these poor people. \n\nSadly this is not the case and it appears as though this conflict will never find a solution, as long as both parties are not able to set aside their millennia aged quarrel, acknowledge each other’s deep roots and belonging to the same land, and accept that they both come from the exact same bloodline. The exact same seed of a man named Abraham. Both parties need not to like or even tolerate each other, but they both need to respect each other’s right to co exist within that space. I’ve heard some disgusting vitriol from both sides, honestly. Both sides have and are behaving like animals. Infact animals are more civil, as their disputes are settled in a more humane manner, without the casualties within their communities. Yet, despite being created in God’s image with the ability of sophisticated communication, both sides are unable to get past their own hurt pride, at least for the sake of the innocent lives that have and continue to be lost on BOTH sides, to finally squash this matter once and for all.\n\nGrowing up I had a cousin . We both were the only Sons of our respective immediate families’, born to identical twin sisters, 3 months apart. From\nA young age everything was competition between us. Who ran faster, jumped higher, threw further. Every thing we did, and we spent a lot of time around each other, was constantly turned into a “who does it better”. This resulted in us usually throwing down as one of us, feeling like we may be on the losing end of any given task, would just get frustrated, and start soccer punching the other. And my cousin and I from the time were off the diary to the day we both matured, would THROW down. We would literally just start throwing punches at each other, it was honestly impressive how we both would manage to land equal amount of hits to look like literal bloody hell, and guess what, even those fights became competition as even our dads would throw money with the others pitching for their favourite. Fortunately, our moms, the only adults in the our community, looking back, people would just pick a side and watch as go at each other, than pull us off each other, would come stomping out of the house grab each one of us by our ears, gives us a good smack in the back our heads and sit us down, look each one of us straight in the eye, and say something like, “cut it out, you two are family, more brothers than cousins” they would demand that we both go hug it out, have a bath, if we managed to do that peacefully then we were allowed to partake in dessert that evening or allowed to stay up a little later watching tv, or whatever . My point with this overtly personal analogy is that both the Palestinian and the Israeli sides should be dragged off each there by their figurative ears pulled, sat down, scolded and reminded of their ancestrial ties to each other and to the very same land. \n\nBe honest with yourselves, some how amongst all this hate, vitriol, unnecessary death of innocent lives, are you, and those you rally with be truly ok with your opposing side coexisting harmoniously beside each other? If the answer to this question is no, the other side can not have any claim to this land and needs to be removed to god knows where, if not off the earth all together then it’s your people, not mine, that are doomed. We’ll still be chilling in North America, horrified at the unfolding events but chilling nonetheless. Although it somehow claims to not be doing so, the actions of Israel demonstrate a gruelling callousness towards Palestinian life or right to life, and the staunch calls of the constant pro Palestine protests, calling for the eradication of Israel, none absent of a deep, hate and disgust towards the Jewish people. Both are in need of serious internal reform. Honestly as a complete outsider, SHAME ON BOTH OF YOU. I don’t care who started it, or who said or did what, at this point it is imperil that this end immediately. And as an outsider, I think it’s is important that pressure be applied to both sides to put their weapons down. I agree with all of what you said, of course it’s a result of still the 2008 crash people have not recovered then they were hit by COVID-19 then after COVID-19, both Canada and America have drained their money into the Ukraine war, after that now Canada is draining its reserve into the clash in the mid east, trying to walk in line with America again, but they have America have US dollar which is backed by most of the world even though America is suffering now they are now on 33 trillion deficit, and it is continuing, many economist, they say if it wouldn’t be, America are printing the dollar if it would’ve collapsed long time ago, America is involving itself around the world and that cost huge money but it is unfortunate that Canada it’s trying to follow with it which means higher taxes and higher cost in the trillions

This is exactly why I moved my children out of America 10 years ago. We moved to Turkey and we couldn't be happier. Your list hit the nail on the head, and a big one for me too was we never heard Azan, we couldn't easily pray, halal food was an issue...all the things you mentioned. Now, me and my daughters never fear walking alone or wearing our Abaya or hijab. We are never judged here and the people are so welcoming and kind in Turkey. It was the best decision we ever made. Canadian health care is good for the basic things but if the poop hits the fan and your condition is more serious America with insurance wins. If they diagnose you with a tumor in let's say May the give you a prescription to slow it's growth and maybe they can pencil you in for October to remove it (real story). Over the last 2 years thousands of Canadians have taken the Government option of doctor assisted suicide.

I stopped visiting Canada 40 years ago because of insane or corrupt border control policies. I traveled to Canada from California to record an album for a popular rock star. My crew number 4 people and we had reserves a month for basic tracking in a studio there. We bought our own reels of 3 inch wide recording tape because the studio wanted twice the rate as normal and since my studio was a distributor for the mastering tapes we brought from my own inventory. Each reel of tape was 3 lbs and brought 30 reels. We got to customs and they said we owed money for importing the tape. Normally a reel would have been $180, and customs wanted $38,000 x 20, and would not let us retrieve it to take it back to the US side of the border. How can a tape worth $180 suddenly have duty of $38,000?\nIt was explained to me as the Potential Value of the tape which meant AFTER a hit song was recording in it. Most recordings are total losses and the tape cant used on a new project even if properly bulk-erased. They expected me to pay on the spot $760,000 in duties. I gave up and left the tape with them. I called the artist and said we could not do the project in Canada and we went back to California. The artist came to us a few months later and the result was a minor hit, and probably barely made its production cost since the label only distributed it in Canada. I talked to an international trade lawyer about what happened and he said customs officials were wrong in Canada but they are given full latitude with no appeal so his advice was never take anything over the border that I did not mind being confiscated. Sometimes they would let it in because it was going back out in a month, but likely they sold it off and pocketed the money. The US is corrupt on a federal level but Canada is corrupt on the local level. I moved out of the US 24 years ago have a much higher quality of life than is even possible in the US, and live very cheaply. Total cost of living with a very active social and cultural life impossible to duplicate in the US which as some of the least options for culture. And my cost of living is $1500 a month, less than utilities alone for one house in California, and that is for 2 people. Last month for example I attended world class opera, ballet and symphonies 9 times, and went out to dinner, in jazz clubs or dance clubs, visited12 top museums, and it was still under $1500 for the month. A pair of tickets to the MET in NYC for lower grade performance, sets, orchestra ad theater, was $1800!! $600 for tickets to drama for 2. Here there 237 drama theaters within walking distance of my city center home, and can walk anywhere at any time of day and be safe due to VERY low crime rates. Free medical is good. I am not citizen but still I had an operation and 10 days in a vip single room for $5300 and despite my insurance I had been paying back in California $824.month, it was going to cost me out o pocket $500,000 and one day in a recovery 12 bed room, and require paid nursing attendant for 30 days. The results were great and was treated like king.\nCanadians have lost control of their government but Americas are screwed regardless, with lower than international standards for everything, with crime, corruption in Washington, extreme cost of living, no access to culture, few if any safe parks. My adopted city is not only far more beautiful than any US city, my GF can walk, alone, anywhere in a city of 7mil at any time of day through any of the 600 beautiful parks open 24/7..at 3am. There are no homeless, and 80% of those over 20yo own their home clear of debt. No college debt despite twice the % of people having degrees. The rest of the world caught up and has surpassed the US and Europe in quality of life. \n\nI have only been back to the US 5 times in 24 years and each time I am shocked by how much the entire society has declined while most of the world outside of Europe, Canada, US, UK or Australia have dramatically improved.\nEvery year since 2008 more Americans leave the US to live elsewhere than legal immigrants arrive.
