the Indians i know in canada have been very hard working and honest people. there was one who had to go back home though they wouldn’t renew his worker permit. I know plenty more on these permits. It’s not just indians though there’s also Brazilians, Chileans, and Venezuelans. One thing I hate is my job prioritizing their work hours over mine because they “need the hours” to stay in this country. where as this is my own country and I’m getting cut hours during slow season. smh

Driving in Brampton reminds me of when I used to spend time in the DR 30 years ago. We slowed down & even stopped at green lights to avoid T boning our friends running reds. Back then the police were happy to ignore you may be intoxicated for $10 US and a sip from your rum. What a world.

I actually worked at Tim Hortons(I'm a white guy), and there were literally so many Indians that they'd order each other around in Hindi. They'd only speak English to me and the customers. I had a shift coordinator in fact who would reflexively give me orders in Hindi, and would get a little ticked off and repeat it in Hindi, and then when it clicked that I'm the only non-Hindi speaker there, he'd give 1 word orders like "Garbage" or "Sinks". The owner of the Tim Hortons also said that if I was a little slow or needed extra training, they wouldn't fire me because they don't like to keep rotating workers around, and instead would rather just retrain them. I was a tad bit slow(only because I was precise and not violating health and safety standards), and they fired me in like 10 seconds. Like my second monthly review, I was fired. I have a feeling it largely had to do with the fact that I was not Indian and didn't speak Hindi, so therefore the shift coordinators had less tolerance for me.

Here in Edmonton Canada the worst drivers are on the Indian part of the city and it’s not even close. I have to drive through that area everyday to get to work and at least 4 times a week I nearly get into car accidents on the highway because people don’t know how to drive. I have to assume people just will switch lanes randomly or merge in really really fast or go extremely slow on the highways. I have seen people reverse backwards on the on ramp because they took the wrong turn

The answer is economics, specifically capitalism and the welfare state. In order for capitalism to function the best for asset owners, the economy must continue to grow. Company revenues, stock prices, home prices, assets in general. Also, the welfare state needs to have more younger workers paying into the system to cover welfare services for the elderly retired population. Back in the 1950s, economists in Western countries realized their population demographics were inverting. Meaning, the elderly population was growing while the younger population growth rate was slowing down. This is the natural outcome of a wealthy educated society—the elderly live longer due to better healthcare and living conditions, and women tend to have fewer children as they spend more time in school and pursue a career, also families need fewer children compared to poor agrarian societies for various reasons. As such, these economists advised the politicians to increase immigration. This was the way to get more workers in your country to prevent a slow deflationary spiral by increasing consumption, and increase the tax base. Bonus if you bring in STEM workers as economies are becoming more dependent on tech. Anyway that's your answer.

I think it is important to realize that immigration comes in waves. right now we are seeing a huge wave of indian immigrants but eventually it will slow down and many will return home and a new wave will come. I think we often forget we are a country of immigrants. All of us have origins elsewhere, at one point the wave of immigration we came from caused "disruptions". Governments need to start thinking what to do when AI replaces most workers. Hundreds of thousands of people will be unemployed and this will happen sooner than we can imagine. Québec may need immigrants in the very short term, but it will need to deal with mass unemployment in 3 years from now, being very optimistic. Immigration in the AI era needs to be rethought. Being an immigrant myself, I advocate for skilled immigration, but we are on the brink of a social disruption. It's time to take it slow.

I think the most scary part about it is that they are populating a part of Canada that has the most seats so now it will probably accelerate a lot. all these people seemed really friendly though and being friendly is a hallmark of being Canadian. I deal with truck drivers all day every day. 99% of the drivers are Indian. Seeing someone white is almost as rare as seeing a woman driving. Some are very nice. Some are very rude and entitled. If they work, file their taxes, don't siphon the system and talk to me in English then I do not care what they do in their own time. On the contrary, I wish them the best. Those who do not contribute to society and merely leech off of it are the true dregs. That said, there have been far too many immigrants in the last decade, regardless of origin. I've lived in my small town in BC for 37 years and somehow I cannot get a family doctor (I visit all of the local clinics annually and am on the provincial waiting list) while a lot of newer residents seem to have a doctor within months of moving here. I am glad I bought my house when I did, I would not be able to afford one today. I am not against legal immigration, just slow it down so the infrastructure can support it and properly vet those who apply. The system for deportment currently employed in the US is far too hastened and imperfect for my liking but the lack-of-a-system (or heck, acknowledgement) that this is even an issue by the current and previous Canadian governments is equally as concerning (arguably more, other folks can debate the politics of it).

Universities and certification are only good for doctors and lawyers. Useless for many fields. Finish your high school, have a road map, start slow, join a small firm in your area of interest, study hard, apply what you learned. As soon as you gain confidence, change jobs, get promotions. Turns out that, actually, they were right. Canada needs, right now, a 100% moratorium on all immigration for at least three years to allow infrastructure and health care to catch up. After that, a very slow and gradual increase to maximim 1% current population levels, with a strict focus on STEM and health care grads. Not their parents and grandparents and great aunts. And if any of them breaks the Canadian criminal code, they are deported within 24 hours.

Im tired of wanting to move out my apartment but i cant cuz foreigners are buying up property and jacking up rent prices. And yes i am a daughter of an immigrant. And i see student housing being built and the rent is cheap! My rent has gone up twice in 2 years. Nothing is available under 1300 unless you rent a room. Nobody can change my traditions because they are mine and dont affect anyone. Groceries are unreal. I dont have a car anymore. I dont have children or a partner. Social time or entertainment is this.
